² For the king, taking counsel, and the princes, and all the assembly of Jerusalem, decreed to keep the phase the second month.

¹⁰ Say to the children of Israel: The man that shall be unclean by occasion of one that is dead, or shall be in a journey afar off in your nation, let him make the phase to the Lord. ¹¹ In the second month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, they shall eat it with unleavened bread and wild lettuce:

¹ David consulted with the captains of thousands, and of hundreds, and with all the commanders. ² And he said to all the assembly of Israel: If it please you; and if the words which I speak come from the Lord our God, let us send to the rest of our brethren into all the countries of Israel, and to the priests, and the Levites, that dwell in the suburbs of the cities, to gather themselves to us, ³ And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we sought it not in the days of Saul.

¹³ And much people were assembled to Jerusalem to celebrate the solemnity of the unleavened bread in the second month:

¹⁵ And they immolated the phase on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites being at length sanctified offered holocausts in the house of the Lord.

¹⁴ Where there is no governor, the people shall fall: but there is safety where there is much counsel.

²² Designs are brought to nothing where there is no counsel: but where there are many counsellors, they are established.

¹³ Better is a child that is poor and wise, than a king that is old and foolish, who knoweth not to foresee for hereafter.
