¹² For we dare not match or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but we measure ourselves by ourselves and compare ourselves with ourselves.

² Are you then men alone, and shall wisdom die with you?

²⁷ As it is not good for a man to eat much honey, so he that is a searcher of majesty shall be overwhelmed by glory.

¹² Hast thou seen a man wise in his own conceit? there shall be more hope of a fool than of him.

² Let another praise thee, and not thy own mouth: a stranger, and not thy own lips.

¹ Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need (as some do) epistles of commendation to you, or from you?

¹² We commend not ourselves again to you, but give you occasion to glory in our behalf: that you may have somewhat to answer them who glory in face, and not in heart.

¹⁸ For not he who commendeth himself is approved: but he, whom God commendeth.
