⁴ And I shall harden his heart and he will pursue you: and I shall be glorified in Pharao, and in all his army: and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord. And they did so.

²¹ And the Lord said to him as he was returning into Egypt: See that thou do all the wonders before Pharao, which I have put in thy hand: I shall harden his heart, and he will not let the people go. ²² And thou shalt say to him: Thus saith the Lord: Israel is my son, my firstborn. ²³ I have said to thee: Let my son go, that he may serve me, and thou wouldst not let him go: behold I will kill thy son, thy firstborn. ²⁴ And when he was in his journey, in the inn, the Lord met him, and would have killed him. ²⁵ Immediately Sephora took a very sharp stone, and circumcised the foreskin of her son, and touched his feet, and said: A bloody spouse art thou to me. ²⁶ And he let him go after she had said: A bloody spouse art thou to me, because of the circumcision. ²⁷ And the Lord said to Aaron: Go into the desert to meet Moses. And he went forth to meet him in the mountain of God, and kissed him. ²⁸ And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord, by which he had sent him, and the signs that he had commanded. ²⁹ And they came together, and they assembled all the ancients of the children of Israel. ³⁰ And Aaron spoke all the words which the Lord had said to Moses: and he wrought the signs before the people. ³¹ And the people believed. And they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction: and falling down they adored.

³ But I shall harden his heart, and shall multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.

⁵ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, who have stretched forth my hand upon Egypt, and have brought forth the children of Israel out of the midst of them.

¹³ And Pharao's heart was hardened, and he did not hearken to them, as the Lord had commanded. ¹⁴ And the Lord said to Moses: Pharao's heart is hardened, he will not let the people go.

¹⁷ Thus therefore saith the Lord: In this thou shalt know that I am the Lord: behold I will strike with the rod, that is in my hand, the water of the river, and it shall be turned into blood.

¹⁶ And therefore have I raised thee, that I may shew my power in thee, and my name may be spoken of throughout all the earth.

⁸ And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharao, king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; but they were gone forth in a mighty hand.

¹⁷ And I will harden the heart of the Egyptians to pursue you: and I will be glorified in Pharao, and in all his host, and in his chariots and in his horsemen. ¹⁸ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall be glorified in Pharao, and in his chariots, and in his horsemen.

¹⁰ Thy wind blew and the sea covered them: they sunk as lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like to thee, among the strong, O Lord? who is like to thee, glorious in holiness, terrible and praise-worthy, doing wonders?

¹⁴ Nations rose up, and were angry: sorrows took hold on the inhabitants of Philisthiim. ¹⁵ Then were the princes of Edom troubled, trembling seized on the stout men of Moab: all the inhabitants of Chanaan became stiff. ¹⁶ Let fear and dread fall upon them, in the greatness of thy arm: let them become immoveable as a stone, until thy people, O Lord, pass by: until this thy people pass by, which thou hast possessed.

¹¹ Now I know, that the Lord is great above all gods; because they dealt proudly against them.

¹⁰ And thou shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharao, and upon all his servants, and upon the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them: and thou madest thyself a name, as it is at this day.

¹¹ The lofty eyes of man are humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be made to stoop: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. ¹² Because the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and highminded, and upon every one that is arrogant, and he shall be humbled.

⁹ But I did otherwise for my name's sake, that it might not be violated before the nations, in the midst of whom they were, and among whom I made myself known to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt.

²² And shalt say: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I come against thee, Sidon, and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall execute judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.

¹³ And all the people of the land shall bury him, and it shall be unto them a noted day, wherein I was glorified, saith the Lord God.

^{30 (4:27)} And the king answered, and said: Is not this the great Babylon, which I have built, to be the seat of the kingdom, by the strength of my power, and in the glory of my excellence? ^{31 (4:28)} And while the word was yet in the king's mouth, a voice came down from heaven: To thee, O king Nabuchodonosor, it is said: Thy kingdom shall pass from thee. ^{32 (4:29)} And they shall cast thee out from among men, and thy dwelling shall be with cattle and wild beasts: thou shalt eat grass like an ox, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. ^{33 (4:30)} The same hour the word was fulfilled upon Nabuchodonosor, and he was driven away from among men, and did eat grass, like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven: till his hairs grew like the feathers of eagles, and his nails like birds' claws. ^{34 (4:31)} Now at the end of the days, I, Nabuchodonosor, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my sense was restored to me: and I blessed the most High, and I praised and glorified him that liveth for ever: for his power is an everlasting power, and his kingdom is to all generations. ^{35 (4:32)} And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing before him: for he doth according to his will, as well with the powers of heaven, as among the inhabitants of the earth: and there is none that can resist his hand, and say to him: Why hast thou done it? ^{36 (4:33)} At the same time my sense returned to me, and I came to the honour and glory of my kingdom: and my shape returned to me: and my nobles, and my magistrates, sought for me, and I was restored to my kingdom: and greater majesty was added to me. ^{37 (4:34)} Therefore I, Nabuchodonosor, do now praise, and magnify, and glorify the King of heaven: because all his works are true, and his ways judgments, and them that walk in pride he is able to abase.

¹⁷ For the scripture saith to Pharao: To this purpose have I raised thee, that I may shew my power in thee and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

²² What if God, willing to shew his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath, fitted for destruction, ²³ That he might shew the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy which he hath prepared unto glory?

⁸ As it is written: God hath given them the spirit of insensibility; eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear, until this present day.

¹ After these things, I heard as it were the voice of much people in heaven, saying: Alleluia. Salvation and glory and power is to our God. ² For true and just are his judgments, who hath judged the great harlot which corrupted the earth with her fornication and hath revenged the blood of his servants, at her hands. ³ And again they said: Alleluia. And her smoke ascendeth for ever and ever. ⁴ And the four and twenty ancients and the four living creatures fell down and adored God that sitteth upon the throne, saying: Amen. Alleluia. ⁵ And a voice came out from the throne, saying: Give praise to our God, all ye his servants: and you that fear him, little and great. ⁶ And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of great thunders, saying: Alleluia: for the Lord our God, the Almighty, hath reigned.
