¹⁹ And the people said to me: Why dost thou not tell us what these things mean that thou doest?

⁹ Son of man, hath not the house of Israel, the provoking house, said to thee: What art thou doing?

¹² Say to the provoking house: Know you not what these things mean? Tell them: Behold the king of Babylon cometh to Jerusalem: and he shall take away the king and the princes thereof and carry them with him to Babylon.

⁴⁹ And I said: Ah, ah, ah, O Lord God: they say of me: Doth not this man speak by parables?

⁷ And when they shall say to thee: Why mournest thou? thou shalt say: For that which I hear: because it cometh, and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be made feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and water shall run down every knee: behold it cometh, and it shall be done, saith the Lord God.

¹⁸ And when the children of thy people shall speak to thee, saying: Wilt thou not tell us what thou meanest by this?

⁷ For from the days of your fathers you have departed from my ordinances, and have not kept them: Return to me, and I will return to you, saith the Lord of hosts. And you have said: Wherein shall we return? ⁸ Shall a man afflict God, for you afflict me. And you have said: Wherein do we afflict thee? in tithes and in firstfruits.

¹³ Your words have been unsufferable to me, saith the Lord.
