⁶ And Abraham said: Beware thou never bring my son back again thither.

¹ Stand fast and be not held again under the yoke of bondage.

³⁹ But we are not the children of withdrawing unto perdition, but of faith to the saving of the soul.

⁹ By faith he abode in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in cottages, with Isaac and Jacob, the co-heirs of the same promise.

¹³ All these died according to faith, not having received the promises but beholding them afar off and saluting them and confessing that they are pilgrims and strangers on the earth. ¹⁴ For they that say these things do signify that they seek a country. ¹⁵ And truly, if they had been mindful of that from whence they came out, they had doubtless, time to return. ¹⁶ But now they desire a better, that is to say, a heavenly country. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

²⁰ For if, flying from the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they be again entangled in them and overcome: their latter state is become unto them worse than the former. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of justice than, after they have known it, to turn back from that holy commandment which was delivered to them. ²² For, that of the true proverb has happened to them: The dog is returned to his vomit; and: The sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
