¹ On the first day of the week, a psalm for David. The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof: the world, and all they that dwell therein. ² For he hath founded it upon the seas; and hath prepared it upon the rivers.

⁴ What is there that I ought to do more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it? was it that I looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it hath brought forth wild grapes?

²⁰ Go, my people, enter into thy chambers, shut thy doors upon thee, hide thyself a little for a moment, until the indignation pass away.

¹⁸ O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments: thy peace had been as a river, and thy justice as the waves of the sea,

¹² I myself will comfort you: who art thou, that thou shouldst be afraid of a mortal man, and of the son of man, who shall wither away like grass?

The beasts and the birds are consumed: because they have said: He shall not see our last end.

⁹ The heart is perverse above all things, and unsearchable, who can know it?

⁸ If that nation against which I have spoken, shall repent of their evil, I also will repent of the evil that I have thought to do to them. ⁹ And I will suddenly speak of a nation and of a kingdom, to build up and plant it. ¹⁰ If it shall do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice: I will repent of the good that I have spoken to do unto it.

¹⁴ And if these three men, Noe, Daniel, and Job, shall be in it: they shall deliver their own souls by their justice, saith the Lord of hosts.

¹⁶ By the multitude of thy merchandise, thy inner parts were filled with iniquity, and thou hast sinned: and I cast thee out from the mountain of God, and destroyed thee, O covering cherub, out of the midst of the stones of fire.

¹ Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel, for the Lord shall enter into judgment with the inhabitants of the land: for there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land. ² Cursing, and lying, and killing, and theft, and adultery, have overflowed, and blood hath touched blood. ³ Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth in it shall languish with the heat of the field, and with the fowls of the air: yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be gathered together.

¹⁴ For I will be like a lioness to Ephraim, and like a lion's whelp to the house of Juda: I, I will catch, and go: I will take away, and there is none that can rescue.

⁸ How shall I deal with thee, O Ephraim, shall I protect thee, O Israel? how shall I make thee as Adama, shall I set thee as Seboim? my heart is turned within me, my repentance is stirred up.

¹³ And rend your hearts, and not your garments and turn to the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, patient and rich in mercy, and ready to repent of the evil.

² And he said: What seest thou, Amos? And I said: A hook to draw down fruit. And the Lord said to me: The end is come upon my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more.

For it is not subject to the law of God: neither can it be. ⁸ And they who are in the flesh cannot please God. ⁹ But you are not in the flesh, but the spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. ¹⁰ And if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead, because of sin: but the spirit liveth, because of justification. ¹¹ And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you; he that raised up Jesus Christ, from the dead shall quicken also your mortal bodies, because of his Spirit that dwelleth in you. ¹² Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh to live according to the flesh. ¹³ For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die: but if by the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live.

²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God are without repentance.

³⁹ A woman is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth: but if her husband die, she is at liberty. Let her marry to whom she will: only in the Lord.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God, I am what I am. And his grace in me hath not been void: but I have laboured more abundantly than all they. Yet not I, but the grace of God with me:

¹⁴ Bear not the yoke with unbelievers. For what participation hath justice with injustice? Or what fellowship hath light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever? ¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God: as God saith: I will dwell in them and walk among them. And I will be their God: and they shall be my people.

Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity, ²³ Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law. ²⁴ And they that are Christ's have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.

¹ And you, when you were dead in your offences and sins, ² Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of this air, of the spirit that now worketh on the children of unbelief: ³ In which also we all conversed in time past, in the desires of our flesh, fulfilling the will of the flesh and of our thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:

³⁰ And grieve not the holy Spirit of God: whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption.

⁹ And may be found in him, not having my justice, which is of the law, but that which is of the faith of Christ Jesus, which is of God: justice in faith. ¹⁰ That I may know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings: being made conformable to his death, ¹¹ If by any means I may attain to the resurrection which is from the dead. ¹² Not as though I had already attained, or were already perfect: but I follow after, if I may by any means apprehend, wherein I am also apprehended by Christ Jesus. ¹³ Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended. But one thing I do: Forgetting the things that are behind and stretching forth myself to those that are before, ¹⁴ I press towards the mark, to the prize of the supernal vocation of God in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing you be otherwise minded, this also God will reveal to you,

¹⁹ Extinguish not the spirit.

¹⁸ The Lord grant unto him to find mercy of the Lord in that day. And in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou very well knowest.

³ For we ourselves also were some time unwise, incredulous, erring, slaves to divers desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

⁷ That, being justified by his grace, we may be heirs according to hope of life everlasting.

¹⁶ Let us go therefore with confidence to the throne of grace: that we may obtain mercy and find grace in seasonable aid.
