² Looking on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith, who, having joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God.

⁹ Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover, my flesh also shall rest in hope. ¹⁰ Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt thou give thy holy one to see corruption. ¹¹ Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end.

⁸ The Lord will repay for me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: O despise not the works of thy hands.

¹⁷ And I will wait for the Lord, who hath hid his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

¹ Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, trusting in horses, and putting their confidence in chariots, because they are many: and in horsemen, because they are very strong: and have not trusted in the Holy One of Israel, and have not sought after the Lord.

²² Be converted to me, and you shall be saved, all ye ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is no other.

⁶ And he said: It is a small thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to convert the dregs of Israel. Behold, I have given thee to be the light of the Gentiles, that thou mayst be my salvation even to the farthest part of the earth. ⁷ Thus saith the Lord the redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to the soul that is despised, to the nation that is abhorred, to the servant of rulers: Kings shall see, and princes shall rise up, and adore for the Lord's sake, because he is faithful, and for the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.

⁶ I have given my body to the strikers, and my cheeks to them that plucked them: I have not turned away my face from them that rebuked me, and spit upon me. ⁷ The Lord God is my helper, therefore am I not confounded: therefore have I set my face as a most hard rock, and I know that I shall not be confounded.

³ Despised, and the most abject of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with infirmity: and his look was as it were hidden and despised, whereupon we esteemed him not.

¹⁰ And the Lord was pleased to bruise him in infirmity: if he shall lay down his life for sin, he shall see a longlived seed, and the will of the Lord shall be prosperous in his hand. ¹¹ Because his soul hath laboured, he shall see and be filled: by his knowledge shall this my just servant justify many, and he shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore will I distribute to him very many, and he shall divide the spoils of the strong, because he hath delivered his soul unto death, and was reputed with the wicked: and he hath borne the sins of many, and hath prayed for the transgressors.

⁷ But I will look towards the Lord, I will wait for God, my saviour: my God will hear me.

¹⁰ And I will pour out upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace, and of prayers: and they shall look upon me, whom they have pierced: and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for an only son, and they shall grieve over him, as the manner is to grieve for the death of the firstborn.

²¹ From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the ancients and scribes and chief priests, and be put to death, and the third day rise again.

¹⁸ Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes: and they shall condemn him to death. ¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified: and the third day he shall rise again. ²⁰ Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, adoring and asking something of him.

²⁸ Even as the Son of man is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his life a redemption for many.

⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face and buffeted him. And others struck his face with the palms of their hands, ⁶⁸ Saying: Prophesy unto us, O Christ. Who is he that struck thee?

²⁷ Then the soldiers of the governor, taking Jesus into the hall, gathered together unto him the whole band. ²⁸ And stripping him, they put a scarlet cloak about him. ²⁹ And platting a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand. And bowing the knee before him, they mocked him, saying: Hail, King of the Jews. ³⁰ And spitting upon him, they took the reed and struck his head. ³¹ And after they had mocked him, they took off the cloak from him and put on him his own garments and led him away to crucify him. ³² And going out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they forced to take up his cross. ³³ And they came to the place that is called Golgotha, which is the place of Calvary. ³⁴ And they gave him wine to drink mingled with gall. And when he had tasted, he would not drink. ³⁵ And after they had crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: They divided my garments among them; and upon my vesture they cast lots. ³⁶ And they sat and watched him. ³⁷ And they put over his head his cause written: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. ³⁸ Then were crucified with him two thieves: one on the right hand and one on the left. ³⁹ And they that passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ And saying: Vah, thou that destroyest the temple of God and in three days dost rebuild it: save thy own self. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. ⁴¹ In like manner also the chief priests, with the scribes and ancients, mocking said: ⁴² He saved others: himself he cannot save. If he be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross: and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted in God: let him now deliver him if he will have him. For he said: I am the Son of God. ⁴⁴ And the selfsame thing the thieves also that were crucified with him reproached him with. ⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the whole earth, until the ninth hour. ⁴⁶ And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani? That is, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? ⁴⁷ And some that stood there and heard said: This man calleth Elias. ⁴⁸ And immediately one of them running took a sponge and filled it with vinegar and put it on a reed and gave him to drink. ⁴⁹ And the others said: Let be. Let us see whether Elias will come to deliver him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus again crying with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

^{12 (9:11)} Who answering, said to then: Elias, when he shall come first, shall restore all things; and as it is written of the Son of man that he must suffer many things and be despised.

^{24 (9:23)} And immediately the father of the boy crying out, with tears said: I do believe, Lord. Help my unbelief.

³⁶ And he saith: Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee: remove this chalice from me; but not what I will, but what thou wilt.

⁵ And the apostles said to the Lord: Increase our faith.

¹¹ And Herod with his army set him at nought and mocked him, putting on him a white garment: and sent him back to Pilate.

³⁵ And the people stood beholding. And the rulers with them derided him, saying: He saved others: let him save himself, if he be Christ, the elect of God. ³⁶ And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar, ³⁷ And saying: If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. ³⁸ And there was also a superscription written over him in letters of Greek and Latin and Hebrew THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. ³⁹ And one of those robbers who were hanged blasphemed him, saying: If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and so, to enter into his glory?

²⁹ The next day, John saw Jesus coming to him; and he saith: Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who taketh away the sin of the world.

⁴⁰ And this is the will of my Father that sent me: that every one who seeth the Son and believeth in him may have life everlasting. And I will raise him up in the last day.

⁵⁶ Abraham your father rejoiced that he might see my day: he saw it and was glad.

²⁴ Amen, amen, I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falling into the ground die,

²⁷ Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause I came unto this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify thy name. A voice therefore came from heaven: I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.

³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things to myself.

³ Knowing that the Father had given him all things into his hands and that he came from God and goeth to God,

³¹ When he therefore was gone out, Jesus said: Now is the Son of man glorified; and God is glorified in him. ³² If God be glorified in him, God also will glorify him in himself: and immediately will he glorify him.

¹ These things Jesus spoke: and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said: the hour is come. Glorify thy Son, that thy Son may glorify thee. ² As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he may give eternal life to all whom thou hast given him. ³ Now this is eternal life: That they may know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. ⁴ I have glorified thee on the earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

²⁵ For David saith concerning him: I foresaw the Lord before my face: because he is at my right hand, that I may not be moved. ²⁶ For this my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know most certainly that God hath made both Lord and Christ, this same Jesus, whom you have crucified.

³¹ Him hath God exalted with his right hand, to be Prince and Saviour. to give repentance to Israel and remission of sins.

⁴¹ And they indeed went from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were accounted worthy to suffer reproach for the name of Jesus.

⁷ So that nothing is wanting to you in any grace, waiting for the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁸ Who also will confirm you unto the end without crime, in the days of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ And might reconcile both to God in one body by the cross, killing the enmities in himself.

² And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us and hath delivered himself for us, an oblation and a sacrifice to God for an odour of sweetness.

⁶ Being confident of this very thing: that he who hath begun a good work in you will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus.

⁸ He humbled himself, becoming obedient unto death, even to the death of the cross. ⁹ For which cause, God also hath exalted him and hath given him a name which is above all names: ¹⁰ That in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth: ¹¹ And that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father.

²⁰ But our conversation is in heaven: from whence also we look for the Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁸ As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming. Make haste to come to me quickly.

¹³ Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. ¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.

³ Who being the brightness of his glory and the figure of his substance and upholding all things by the word of his power, making purgation of sins, sitteth on the right hand of the majesty on high:

¹³ But to which of the angels said he at any time: Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool?

⁷ Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels: thou hast crowned him with glory and honour and hast set him over the works of thy hands. ⁸ Thou hast subjected all things under his feet. For in that he hath subjected all things to him he left nothing not subject to him. But now we see not as yet all things subject to him. ⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour: that, through the grace of God he might taste death for all. ¹⁰ For it became him for whom are all things and by whom are all things, who had brought many children into glory, to perfect the author of their salvation, by his passion.

⁹ And being consummated, he became, to all that obey him, the cause of eternal salvation:

¹⁹ For the law brought nothing to perfection: but a bringing in of a better hope, by which we draw nigh to God.

¹ Now of the things which we have spoken, this is the sum: We have such an high priest who is set on the right hand of the throne of majesty in the heavens,

²⁸ So also Christ was offered once to exhaust the sins of many. The second time he shall appear without sin to them that expect him unto salvation.

⁵ Wherefore, when he cometh into the world he saith: Sacrifice and oblation thou wouldest not: but a body thou hast fitted to me. ⁶ Holocausts for sin did not please thee. ⁷ Then said I: Behold I come: in the head of the book it is written of me: that I should do thy will, O God. ⁸ In saying before, Sacrifices, and oblations, and holocausts for sin thou wouldest not, neither are they pleasing to thee, which are offered according to the law. ⁹ Then said I: Behold, I come to do thy will, O God: He taketh away the first, that he may establish that which followeth. ¹⁰ In the which will, we are sanctified by the oblation of the body of Jesus Christ once. ¹¹ And every priest indeed standeth daily ministering and often offering the same sacrifices which can never take away sins. ¹² But this man, offering one sacrifice for sins, for ever sitteth on the right hand of God,

¹⁴ For by one oblation he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

³³ And on the one hand indeed, by reproaches and tribulations, were made a gazingstock; and on the other, became companions of them that were used in such sort.

³⁶ And others had trial of mockeries and stripes: moreover also of bands and prisons.

³ For think diligently upon him that endured such opposition from sinners against himself that you be not wearied, fainting in your minds.

¹³ Let us go forth therefore to him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

¹¹ Searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them did signify, when it foretold those sufferings that are in Christ and the glories that should follow.

²³ Who, when he was reviled, did not revile: when he suffered, he threatened not, but delivered himself to him that judged him unjustly. ²⁴ Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed.

¹⁸ Because Christ also died once for our sins, the just for the unjust: that he might offer us to God, being put to death indeed in the flesh, but enlivened in the spirit,

²² Who is on the right hand of God, swallowing down death that we might be made heirs of life everlasting: being gone into heaven, the angels and powers and virtues being made subject to him.

¹⁴ If you be reproached for the name of Christ, you shall be blessed: for that which is of the honour, glory and power of God, and that which is his Spirit resteth upon you. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or a railer or coveter of other men's things. ¹⁶ But, if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed: but let him glorify God in that name.

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and our hands have handled, of the word of life. ² For the life was manifested: and we have seen and do bear witness and declare unto you the life eternal, which was with the Father and hath appeared to us. ³ That which we have seen and have heard, we declare unto you: that you also may have fellowship with us and our fellowship may be with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

²¹ Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto life everlasting.

⁸ I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, saith the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

¹¹ Saying: What thou seest, write in a book and send to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamus and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.

¹⁷ And when I had seen him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying: Fear not. I am the First and the Last,

⁸ And to the angel of the church of Smyrna write: These things saith the First and the Last, who was dead and is alive:
