² For they are called of the holy city, and are established upon the God of Israel: the Lord of hosts is his name.

¹³ Now I know God will do me good, since I have a priest of the race of the Levites.

³ And the people returned to the camp: and the ancients of Israel said: Why hath the Lord defeated us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch unto us the ark of the covenant of the Lord from Silo, and let it come in the midst of us, that it may save us from the hand of our enemies. ⁴ So the people sent to Silo, and they brought from thence the ark of the covenant of the Lord of hosts, sitting upon the cherubims: and the two sons of Heli, Ophni and Phinees, were with the ark of the covenant of God. ⁵ And when the ark of the covenant of the Lord was come into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, and the earth rang again.

¹ And the princes of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: but the rest of the people cast lots, to take one part in ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts in the other cities.

¹⁸ All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred eighty-four.

³ Glorious things are said of thee, O city of God.

²⁰ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and they that shall escape of the house of Jacob, shall lean no more upon him that striketh them: but they shall lean upon the Lord the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

⁴ Our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.

¹³ And thou hast forgotten the Lord thy maker, who stretched out the heavens, and founded the earth: and thou hast been afraid continually all the day at the presence of his fury who afflicted thee, and had prepared himself to destroy thee: where is now the fury of the oppressor?

¹ Arise, arise, put on thy strength, O Sion, put on the garments of thy glory, O Jerusalem, the city of the Holy One: for henceforth the uncircumcised, and unclean shall no more pass through thee.

¹⁰ The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert, Jerusalem is desolate. ¹¹ The house of our holiness, and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt with fire, and all our lovely things are turned into ruins.

⁴ Trust not in lying words, saying: The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, it is the temple of the Lord. ⁵ For if you will order well your ways, and your doings: if you will execute judgment between a man and his neighbour, ⁶ If you oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, and walk not after strange gods to your own hurt, ⁷ I will dwell with you in this place: in the land, which I gave to your fathers from the beginning and for evermore. ⁸ Behold you put your trust in lying words, which shall not profit you: ⁹ To steal, to murder, to commit adultery, to swear falsely, to offer to Baalim, and to go after strange gods, which you know not. ¹⁰ And you have come, and stood before me in this house, in which my name is called upon, and have said: We are delivered, because we have done all these abominations. ¹¹ Is this house then, in which my name hath been called upon, in your eyes become a den of robbers? I, I am he: I have seen it, saith the Lord.

¹⁶ The portion of Jacob is not like these: for it is he who formed all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the Lord of hosts is his name.

² Inquire of the Lord for us, for Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon maketh war against us: if so be the Lord will deal with us according to all his wonderful works, that he may depart from us.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are shortened upon thy people, and upon thy holy city, that transgression may be finished, and sin may have an end, and iniquity may be abolished; and everlasting justice may be brought; and vision and prophecy may be fulfilled; and the Saint of saints may be anointed.

¹¹ Her princes have judged for bribes: and her priests have taught for hire, and her prophets divined for money: and they leaned upon the Lord, saying: Is not the Lord in the midst of us? no evil shall come among us.

⁵ Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him upon the pinnacle of the temple,

⁵³ And coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, came into the holy city and appeared to many.

⁴⁰ But now you seek to kill me, a man who have spoken the truth to you, which I have heard of God. This Abraham did not. ⁴¹ You do the works of your father. They said therefore to him: We are not born of fornication: we have one Father, even God.

² But the court which is without the temple, cast out and measure it not: because it is given unto the Gentiles. And the holy city they shall tread under foot, two and forty months:

² And I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

¹⁹ And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from these things that are written in this book.
