³⁶ Do you say of him whom the Father hath sanctified and sent into the world: Thou blasphemest; because I said: I am the Son of God?

² The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes met together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.

⁶ But I am appointed king by him over Sion, his holy mountain, preaching his commandment. ⁷ The Lord hath said to me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee. ⁸ Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession. ⁹ Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter's vessel. ¹⁰ And now, O ye kings, understand: receive instruction, you that judge the earth. ¹¹ Serve ye the Lord with fear: and rejoice unto him with trembling. ¹² Embrace discipline, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you perish from the just way. ^(2:13) When his wrath shall be kindled in a short time, blessed are all they that trust in him.

² And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: the spirit of wisdom, and of understanding, the spirit of counsel, and of fortitude, the spirit of knowledge, and of godliness. ³ And he shall be filled with the spirit of the fear of the Lord, He shall not judge according to the sight of the eyes, nor reprove according to the hearing of the ears. ⁴ But he shall judge the poor with justice, and shall reprove with equity the meek of the earth: and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked. ⁵ And justice shall be the girdle of his loins: and faith the girdle of his reins.

¹ Behold my servant, I will uphold him: my elect, my soul delighteth in him: I have given my spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

³ The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench, he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

¹ Give ear, ye islands, and hearken, ye people from afar. The Lord hath called me from the womb, from the bowels of my mother he hath been mindful of my name. ² And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword: in the shadow of his hand he hath protected me, and hath made me as a chosen arrow: in his quiver he hath hidden me. ³ And he said to me: Thou art my servant Israel, for in thee will I glory.

⁶ And he said: It is a small thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to convert the dregs of Israel. Behold, I have given thee to be the light of the Gentiles, that thou mayst be my salvation even to the farthest part of the earth. ⁷ Thus saith the Lord the redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to the soul that is despised, to the nation that is abhorred, to the servant of rulers: Kings shall see, and princes shall rise up, and adore for the Lord's sake, because he is faithful, and for the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee. ⁸ Thus saith the Lord: In an acceptable time I have heard thee, and in the day of salvation I have helped thee: and I have preserved thee, and given thee to be a covenant of the people, that thou mightest raise up the earth, and possess the inheritances that were destroyed:

⁴ Behold I have given him for a witness to the people, for a leader and a master to the Gentiles.

¹ The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed me: he hath sent me to preach to the meek, to heal the contrite of heart, and to preach a release to the captives, and deliverance to them that are shut up. ² To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God: to comfort all that mourn: ³ To appoint to the mourners of Sion, and to give them a crown for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, a garment of praise for the spirit of grief: and they shall be called in it the mighty ones of justice, the planting of the Lord to glorify him.

⁵ Before I formed thee in the bowels of thy mother, I knew thee: and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and made thee a prophet unto the nations.

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest said to him: I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us if thou be the Christ the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus saith to him: Thou hast said it. Nevertheless I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God and coming in the clouds of heaven. ⁶⁵ Then the high priest rent his garments, saying: He hath blasphemed: What further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemy. ⁶⁶ What think you? But they answering, said: He is guilty of death.

⁴³ He trusted in God: let him now deliver him if he will have him. For he said: I am the Son of God.

⁵⁴ Now the centurion and they that were with him watching Jesus, having seen the earthquake and the things that were done, were sore afraid, saying: Indeed this was the Son of God.

³⁵ And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

¹⁷ For God sent not his Son into the world, to judge the world: but that the world may be saved by him.

³⁴ For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God doth not give the Spirit by measure.

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them: My Father worketh until now; and I work. ¹⁸ Hereupon therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God.

³⁰ I cannot of myself do any thing. As I hear, so I judge. And my judgment is just: because I seek not my own will. but the will of him that sent me.

³⁶ But I have a greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to perfect, the works themselves which I do, give testimony of me, that the Father hath sent me. ³⁷ And the Father himself who hath sent me hath given testimony of me: neither have you heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

²⁷ Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that which endureth unto life everlasting, which the Son of man will give you. For him hath God, the Father, sealed.

³⁸ Because I came down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him that sent me.

^{57 (6:58)} As the living Father hath sent me and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me.

^{69 (6:70)} And we have believed and have known that thou art the Christ, the Son of God.

⁴² Jesus therefore said to them: If God were your Father, you would indeed love me. For from God I proceeded and came. For I came not of myself: but he sent me.

³⁵ Jesus heard that they had cast him out. And when he had found him, he said to him: Dost thou believe in the Son of God? ³⁶ He answered, and said: Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him? ³⁷ And Jesus said to him: Thou hast both seen him; and it is he that talketh with thee.

³⁰ I and the Father are one. ³¹ The Jews then took up stones to stone him. ³² Jesus answered them: Many good works I have shewed you from my Father. For which of those works do you stone me? ³³ The Jews answered him: For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy: and because that thou. being a, man, makest thyself God.

⁴ I have glorified thee on the earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. ⁵ And now glorify thou me, O Father, with thyself, with the glory which I had, before the world was, with thee.

⁸ Because the words which thou gavest me, I have given to them. And they have received them and have known in very deed that I came out from thee: and they have believed that thou didst send me.

¹⁸ As thou hast sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

²¹ That they all may be one, as thou, Father, in me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

⁷ The Jews answered him: We have a law; and according to the law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

²⁸ Thomas answered and said to him: My Lord and my God.

³¹ But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing, you may have life in his name.

⁴ Who was predestinated the Son of God in power, according to the spirit of sanctification, by the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead:

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and of sin, hath condemned sin in the flesh.

⁵ Whose are the fathers and of whom is Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all things, God blessed for ever. Amen.

⁴ But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent his Son, made of a woman, made under the law:

⁹ By this hath the charity of God appeared towards us, because God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we may live by him. ¹⁰ In this is charity: not as though we had loved God, but because he hath first loved us, and sent his Son to be a propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ My dearest, if God hath so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ¹² No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abideth in us: and his charity is perfected in us. ¹³ In this we know that we abide in him, and he in us: because he hath given us of his spirit. ¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify that the Father hath sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world.
