⁴⁵ But if that servant shall say in his heart: My Lord is long a coming; and shall begin to strike the men-servants and maid-servants, and to eat and to drink and be drunk:

¹⁰ His watchmen are all blind, they are all ignorant: dumb dogs not able to bark, seeing vain things, sleeping and loving dreams. ¹¹ And most impudent dogs, they never had enough: the shepherds themselves knew no understanding: all have turned aside into their own way, every one after his own gain, from the first even to the last. ¹² Come, let us take wine, and be filled with drunkenness: and it shall be as to day, so also to morrow, and much more.

⁶ Behold it is written before me: I will not be silent, but I will render and repay into their bosom.

² And Phassur struck Jeremias the prophet, and put him in the stocks, that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, in the house of the Lord.

²² Son of man, what is this proverb that you have in the land of Israel? saying: The days shall be prolonged, and every vision shall fail.

²⁷ Son of man, behold the house of Israel, they that say: The visions that this man seeth, is for many days to come: and this man prophesieth of times afar off. ²⁸ Therefore say to them: Thus saith the Lord God: not one word of mine shall be prolonged any more: the word that I shall speak shall be accomplished, saith the Lord God.

³ You ate the milk, and you clothed yourselves with the wool, and you killed that which was fat: but my flock you did not feed. ⁴ The weak you have not strengthened, and that which was sick you have not healed, that which was broken you have not bound up, and that which was driven away you have not brought again, neither have you sought that which was lost: but you ruled over them with rigour, and with a high hand.

⁸ As I live, saith the Lord God, forasmuch as my flocks have been made a spoil, and my sheep are become a prey to all the beasts of the field, because there was no shepherd: for my shepherds did not seek after my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flocks:

⁶ And the rest laid hands on his servants and, having treated them contumeliously, put them to death.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart: My lord is long a coming: ⁴⁹ And shall begin to strike his fellow servants and shall eat and drink with drunkards: ⁵⁰ The lord of that servant shall come in a day that he hopeth not and at an hour that he knoweth not:

¹⁸ For they that are such serve not Christ our Lord but their own belly: and by pleasing speeches and good words seduce the hearts of the innocent.

²⁰ For you suffer if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take from you, if a man be lifted up, if a man strike you on the face.

¹⁸ For many walk, of whom I have told you often (and now tell you weeping) that they are enemies of the cross of Christ: ¹⁹ Whose end is destruction: whose God is their belly: and whose glory is in their shame: who mind earthly things.

⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk, are drunk in the night.

³ And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not: and their perdition slumbereth not. ⁴ For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment:

¹³ Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you:

¹⁹ Promising them liberty, whereas they themselves are the slaves of corruption. For by whom a man is overcome, of the same also he is the slave.

⁹ I had written perhaps to the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, doth not receive us. ¹⁰ For this cause, if I come, I will advertise his works which he doth, with malicious words prating against us. And as if these things were not enough for him, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and them that do receive them he forbiddeth, and casteth out of the church.

¹² These are spots in their banquets, feasting together without fear, feeding themselves: clouds without water, which are carried about by winds: trees of the autumn, unfruitful, twice dead, plucked up by the roots: ¹³ Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own confusion: wandering stars, to whom the storm of darkness is reserved for ever.

⁷ And it was given unto him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And power was given him over every tribe and people and tongue and nation. ⁸ And all that dwell upon the earth adored him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb which was slain from the beginning of the world. ⁹ If any man have an ear, let him hear. ¹⁰ He that shall lead into captivity shall go into captivity: he that shall kill by the sword must be killed by the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

¹⁵ And it was given him to give life to the image of the beast: and that the image of the beast should speak: and should cause that whosoever will not adore the image of the beast should be slain. ¹⁶ And he shall make all, both little and great, rich and poor, freemen and bondmen, to have a character in their right hand or on their foreheads: ¹⁷ And that no man might buy or sell, but he that hath the character, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

⁶ For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets: and thou hast given them blood to drink. For they are worthy.

⁵ And on her forehead a name was written: A mystery: Babylon the great, the mother of the fornications and the abominations of the earth. ⁶ And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And I wondered, when I had seen her, with great admiration.

⁷ As much as she hath glorified herself and lived in delicacies, so much torment and sorrow give ye to her. Because she saith in her heart: I sit a queen and am no widow: and sorrow I shall not see. ⁸ Therefore, shall her plagues come in one day, death and mourning and famine. And she shall be burnt with the fire: because God is strong, who shall judge her.

²⁴ And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all that were slain upon the earth.
