¹⁶ And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up: and he went into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the sabbath day: and he rose up to read.

²³ And coming he dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was said by the prophets: That he shall be called a Nazarene.

⁵⁴ And coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this man by this wisdom and miracles? ⁵⁵ Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude:

¹ And going out from thence, he went into his own country; and his disciples followed him. ² And when the Sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were in admiration at his doctrine, saying: How came this man by all these things? and what wisdom is this that is given to him, and such mighty works as are wrought by his hands? ³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joseph, and Jude, and Simon? are not also his sisters here with us? And they were scandalized in regard of him.

²⁶ And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, ²⁷ To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David: and the virgin's name was Mary.

³⁹ And after they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their city Nazareth.

⁴² And when he was twelve years old, they going up into Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast,

⁵¹ And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these words in her heart.

¹⁵ And he taught in their synagogues and was magnified by all.

²¹ And he began to say to them: This day is fulfilled this scripture in your ears.

²⁰ Jesus answered him: I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, whither all the Jews resort: and in secret I have spoken nothing.

¹⁴ But they, passing through Perge, came to Antioch in Pisidia: and, entering into the Synagogue on the sabbath day, they sat down. ¹⁵ And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying: Ye men, brethren, if you have any word of exhortation to make to the people, speak. ¹⁶ Then Paul rising up and with his hand bespeaking silence, said: Ye men of Israel and you that fear God, give ear.
