⁹ Who can tell if God will turn, and forgive: and will turn away from his fierce anger, and we shall not perish?

² The Lord is a jealous God, and a revenger: the Lord is a revenger, and hath wrath: the Lord taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and he is angry with his enemies.

¹⁸ Neither shall their silver and their gold be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: all the land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy destruction of all them that dwell in the land.

⁸ Wherefore expect me, saith the Lord, in the day of my resurrection that is to come, for my judgment is to assemble the Gentiles, and to gather the kingdoms: and to pour upon them my indignation, all my fierce anger: for with the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be devoured.

⁴ And you shall know that I sent you this commandment, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the Lord of hosts. ⁵ My covenant was with him of life and peace: and I gave him fear: and he feared me, and he was afraid before my name.

¹ Behold I send my angel, and he shall prepare the way before my face. And presently the Lord, whom you seek, and the angel of the testament, whom you desire, shall come to his temple. Behold, he cometh, saith the Lord of hosts.

³⁶ He that believeth in the Son hath life everlasting: but he that believeth not the Son shall not see life: but the wrath of God abideth on him.

³ And he saith: I am a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the truth of the law of the fathers, zealous for the law, as also all you are this day: ⁴ Who persecuted this way unto death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women, ⁵ As the high priest doth bear me witness and all the ancients. From whom also receiving letters to the brethren, I went to Damascus, that I might bring them bound from thence to Jerusalem to be punished.

² For I bear them witness that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For they, not knowing the justice of God and seeking to establish their own, have not submitted themselves to the justice of God. ⁴ For the end of the law is Christ: unto justice to everyone that believeth.

⁸ Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them that committed fornication: and there fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

²⁰ But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.

²² Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? All things are lawful for me: but all things are not expedient.

²⁷ If any of them that believe not, invite you, and you be willing to go: eat of any thing that is set before you, asking no question for conscience' sake. ²⁸ But if any man say: This has been sacrificed to idols: do not eat of it, for his sake that told it and for conscience' sake.

¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God: as God saith: I will dwell in them and walk among them. And I will be their God: and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ Wherefore: Go out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing:

² For I am jealous of you with the jealousy of God. For I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. ³ But I fear lest, as the serpent seduced Eve by his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted and fall from the simplicity that is in Christ.

¹⁷ Wherefore, it behoved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest before God, that he might be a propitiation for the sins of the people.

¹¹ If then perfection was by the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchisedech: and not be called according to the order of Aaron?

¹⁷ For he testifieth: Thou art a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech. ¹⁸ There is indeed a setting aside of the former commandment, because of the weakness and unprofitableness thereof:

⁵ Be you also as living stones built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people: that you may declare his virtues, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

¹³ Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you: ¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls: having their heart exercised with covetousness: children of malediction. ¹⁵ Leaving the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam of Bosor who loved the wages of iniquity,

¹⁸ For, speaking proud words of vanity, they allure by the desires of fleshly riotousness those who for a little while escape, such as converse in error:

² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

¹³ Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own confusion: wandering stars, to whom the storm of darkness is reserved for ever.

⁶ And hath made us a kingdom, and priests to God and his Father. To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.

¹⁴ But I have against thee a few things: because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat and to commit fornication.

⁶ Render to her as she also hath rendered to you: and double unto her double, according to her works. In the cup wherein she hath mingled, mingle ye double unto her.
