THE VICTORY OF YAH NATHAN
And so be it, on a day, Yah Nathan the son of Shaul says to the lad who bears his instruments, Come and we pass over to the standing camp of the Peleshethiy beyond; and he tells not his father: 2 and Shaul settles in the extremity of Gibah under a pomegranate tree in Migron: and the people with him are about six hundred men; 3 and Achiy Yah the son of Achiy Tub, the brother of Iy Chabod the son of Pinechas the son of Eli priest of Yah Veh in Shiloh bears an ephod: and the people know not that Yah Nathan is gone: 4 and between the passages by which Yah Nathan seeks to pass over to the standing camp of the Peleshethiy, there is a tooth of the rock on the one side and a tooth of the rock on the one side: and the name of the one is Boses/Bleached Linen and the name of the one Seneh/Bush: 5 the tooth of the one is pillared northward opposite Michmash and the one southward opposite Gibah. 6 And Yah Nathan says to the lad who bears his instruments, Come, and we pass over to the standing camp of these uncircumcised: perhaps Yah Veh works for us: for there is no hindrance to Yah Veh to save by many or by few. 7 And his instrument bearer says to him, Work all that is in your heart! Spread! Behold, I am with you according to your heart. 8 Then Yah Nathan says, Behold, we pass over to these men and expose ourselves to them: 9 if they say thus to us, Hush until we touch you! - then we stand in our place and ascend not to them. 10 And if they say thus, Ascend to us! - we ascend: for Yah Veh gives them into our hand: and this is our sign. 11 And both of them expose themselves to the standing camp of the Peleshethiy: and the Peleshethiy say, Behold, the Hebrews come from the holes where they hide themselves. 12 And the men of the station answer Yah Nathan and his instrument bearer, and say, Ascend to us and we have you know a word. And Yah Nathan says to his instrument bearer, Ascend after me: for Yah Veh gives them into the hand of Yisra El. 13 And Yah Nathan ascends on his hands and on his feet and his instrument bearer after him: and they fall at the face of Yah Nathan; and his instrument bearer after him deathifies: 14 and the first stroke Yah Nathan and his instrument bearer smite is about twenty men - within as it were a half furrow of an acre of a field. 15 And they tremble in the camp, in the field, and among all the people: the standing camp and the ruiners also tremble; and the earth quakes - and so be it, a trembling of Elohim: 16 and the watchers of Shaul in Gibah of Ben Yamin see; and behold, the multitude melts away and they go on - descending and hammering. 17 And Shaul says to the people with him, Muster now and see who is gone from us. - and they muster, and behold, Yah Nathan and his instrument bearer are not. 18 And Shaul says to Achiy Yah, Bring near the ark of Elohim. - for that day the ark of Elohim is with the sons of Yisra El. 19 And so be it, as Shaul words to the priest, that in walking, the multitude in the camp of the Peleshethiy walks on and greatens. And Shaul says to the priest, Gather your hand. 20 And Shaul and all the people with him cry out together; and they come to the war; and behold, the sword of every man is against his friend and there is a mighty great confusion: 21 and the Hebrews who were with the Peleshethiy three yesters ago - who ascended with them all around the camp turn around to be with the Yisra Eliy - with Shaul and Yah Nathan: 22 and all the men of Yisra El who hid themselves in mount Ephrayim, hear that the Peleshethiy flee, even they also adhere after them in the war. 23 So Yah Veh saves Yisra El that day; and the war passes over to Beth Aven: 24 and that day the men of Yisra El exact. And Shaul oaths the people, saying, Cursed is the man who eats bread until evening, and I become avenged on my enemies. - and none of the people taste bread. 25 And all the land comes to a forest; and there is honey on the face of the field: 26 and the people come to the forest, and behold, a flowing of honey; and no man reaches his hand to his mouth: for the people awe the oath. 27 And Yah Nathan heard not his father oath the people with the oath: and he sends forth the end of the rod in his hand and dips it in a forest; and returns his hand to his mouth: and his eyes enlighten. 28 Then a man of the people answers, and says, In oathing, your father oathed the people with an oath, saying, Cursed is the man who eats food this day: and the people flutter. 29 Then Yah Nathan says, My father troubles the land: see, I beseech you, how my eyes enlighten, because I tasted a little of this honey. 30 and if in eating, the people had eaten today of the spoil of their enemies which they found: because now, is not the stroke greatened among the Peleshethiy? 31 And that day they smite the Peleshethiy from Michmash to Ayalon: and the people flutter mightily: 32 and the people work on the spoil and take flock and oxen and sons of oxen and slaughter them on the earth: and the people eat them with the blood. 33 And they tell Shaul, saying, Behold, the people sin against Yah Veh in that they eat with the blood. And he says, You have concealed: roll a great stone to me this day. 34 And Shaul says, Scatter yourselves among the people and say to them, Bring near me the ox of every man and the lamb of every man and slaughter here and eat: and sin not against Yah Veh in eating with the blood. And that night all the people bring near the ox of every man in his hand and slaughters there: 35 and Shaul builds a sacrifice altar to Yah Veh: and he begins to build a sacrifice altar to Yah Veh. 36 And Shaul says, We descend after the Peleshethiy by night and plunder them until the morning light that not a man of them survives. And they say, Work whatever seems good in your eyes. And the priest says, Approach hither to Elohim. 37 And Shaul asks counsel of Elohim, Descend I after the Peleshethiy? Give you them into the hand of Yisra El? - and he answers him not that day. 38 And Shaul says, Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people: and know and see wherein this sin becomes this day. 39 For, Yah Veh lives, who saves Yisra El, though it be in Yah Nathan my son, in dying, he dies. - and not a man among all the people answers him. 40 Then he says to all Yisra El, You - you are on one side and I and Yah Nathan my son are on one side. And the people say to Shaul, Work what seems good in your eyes. 41 And Shaul says to Yah Veh Elohim of Yisra El, Show integrity. And they capture Shaul and Yah Nathan: and the people go. 42 And Shaul says, Fell between me and Yah Nathan my son. And they capture Yah Nathan. 43 Then Shaul says to Yah Nathan, Tell me what you worked. And Yah Nathan tells him and says, In tasting, I tasted a little honey with the end of the rod in my hand; behold, I die. 44 And Shaul says, Elohim works thus and adds also: for in dying, you die, Yah Nathan. 45 And the people say to Shaul, Yah Nathan - who worked this great salvation in Yisra El - die? Far be it: Yah Veh lives, not one hair of his head falls to the earth; for he worked with Elohim this day. - and the people redeem Yah Nathan, that he not die. 46 Then Shaul ascends from after the Peleshethiy: and the Peleshethiy go to their own place: 47 and Shaul captures the sovereigndom over Yisra El and fights all his enemies all around - against Moab and against the sons of Ammon and against Edom and against the sovereigns of Sobah and against the Peleshethiy: and wherever he turns his face, he deals wickedly: 48 and he works valour and smites the Amaleq; and rescues Yisra El from the hands of their plunderers. 49 And the sons of Shaul: Yah Nathan and Yishvi and Malki Shua; and the names of his two daughters: the name of the firstbirthed Merab, and the name of the younger Michal; 50 and the name of the woman of Shaul: Achiy Noam the daughter of Achiy Maas; and the name of the governor of his host: Abi Ner the son of Ner the uncle of Shaul; 51 and Qish is the father of Shaul: and Ner the father of Abi Ner is the son of Abi El. 52 And there is tough war against the Peleshethiy all the days of Shaul: and when Shaul sees any mighty man or any son of valour, he gathers him to him.
