ANGELS OF ELOHIM ENCOUNTER YAAQOV
And Yaaqov goes on his way and the angels of Elohim encounter him: 2 and when Yaaqov sees them, he says, This is Camp Elohim! - and he calls the name of that place Machanayim/Double Camp. 3 And Yaaqov sends angels at the face of Esav his brother to the land of Seir, the field of Edom: 4 and he misvahs them, saying, Say thus to my adoni Esav: Your servant Yaaqov says thus: I sojourned with Laban and delayed there until now: 5 and I have oxen and he burros, flocks and servants and maids: and I send to tell my adoni, to find charism in your eyes. 6 And the angels return to Yaaqov, saying, We came to your brother Esav and he also comes to meet you with four hundred men. 7 And Yaaqov awes mightily and is depressed: and he halves the people with him and the flocks and oxen and the camels into two camps; 8 and says, If Esav comes to the one camp and smites it, then the other camp which survives escapes. 9 And Yaaqov says, O Elohim of my father Abraham and Elohim of my father Yischaq, Yah Veh who says to me, Return to your land and to your kindred and I well-please you: 10 I am less than the least of all the mercies and of all the truth, you worked to your servant; for with my staff I passed over this Yarden; and now I become two camps: 11 rescue me, I beseech you, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esav: for I awe him, lest he comes and smites me and the mother with the sons. 12 And you - you say, In well-pleasing, I well-please you and set your seed as the sand of the sea which cannot be scribed for abundance. 13 And he stays there overnight that same night; and takes of what comes to his hand - an offering for Esav his brother: 14 two hundred she goats and twenty he goats two hundred ewes and twenty rams 15 thirty suckling camels with their sons forty heifer and ten bullocks twenty she burros and ten foals: 16 and he gives them into the hand of his servants, drove by drove; and says to his servants, Pass over from my face and put a respiration between drove and between drove. 17 And he misvahs the first, saying, When Esav my brother meets you and asks you, saying, Whose are you? And where go you? And whose are these at your face? 18 Then you say, Of your servant Yaaqov - an offering sent to my adoni Esav: and behold, he also is behind us. 19 And thus he misvahs the second and the third and all who come after the droves, saying, Word this word to Esav, when you find him: 20 and also say, Behold, your servant Yaaqov is behind us: for he says, I kapar/atone at his face with the offering that goes at my face and afterward, I see his face: perhaps he lifts at my face. 21 So the offering passes from his face: and he stays overnight that night in the camp: 22 and he rises that night and takes his two women and his two maids and his eleven children and passes over the ford Yabboq: 23 and he takes them and passes them over the wadi and passes over what he has.
YAAQOV WRESTLES
24 And Yaaqov remains alone; and there a man wrestles with him until the ascending of the dawn: 25 and when he sees that he prevails not against him, he touches the hollow of his flank; and the hollow of the flank of Yaaqov dislocates as he wrestles with him: 26 and he says, Send me away, for the dawn ascends. And he says, I send you not away, unless you bless me.
YAAQOV NAMED YISRA EL 27 And he says to him, What is your name? And he says, Yaaqov. 28 And he says, Your name is said no more Yaaqov, but Yisra El: for you prevail with Elohim and with men - and prevail. 29 And Yaaqov asks him and says, Tell me, I beseech you, your name. And he says, Why ask you my name? - and he blesses him there. 30 And Yaaqov calls the name of the place Peni El: for I saw Elohim face to face and my soul is rescued. 31 And as he passes over Peni El the sun rises on him and he limps on his flank. 32 Therefore, to this day, the sons of Yisra El eat not of the sinew which shriveled, which is on the hollow of the flank: because he touched the hollow of the flank of Yaaqov in the sinew that shriveled.

17 So now know and see what you work; for evil finishes off against our adoni and against all his household: for he is too much of a son of Beli Yaal to word to. 18 And Abi Gail hastens and takes two hundred breads and two bags of wine and five worked flocks and five seahs of parched and a hundred raisincakes and two hundred lumps of figs - and sets them on he burros. 19 And she says to her lads, Pass over at my face; behold, I come after you. - and she tells not her man Nabal. 20 And so be it, she rides on the he burro, and she descends by the covert of the mountain; and behold, David and his men descend to meet her; and she meets them. 21 And David says, Surely in falsehood guarded I all this one has in the wilderness, so that naught of all he has was overseen: and he returns me evil for good: 22 may Elohim add to work thus to the enemies of David, if, of all he has, I let survive toward the morning light any who urinate against the wall. 23 And Abi Gail sees David, and she hastens and descends off the he burro and falls on her face at the nostrils of David; and prostrates herself to the earth 24 and falls at his feet and says, On me, my adoni, this perversity: and may your maid, I beseech you, word in your ears; hear the words of your maid: 25 may not my adoni, I beseech you, set his heart to this man of Beli Yaal, Nabal: for as his name, thus is he: Nabal is his name and folly is with him: but I your maid saw not the lads of my adoni whom you sent. 26 And now, my adoni, as Yah Veh lives and as your soul lives, seeing Yah Veh withheld you from coming to blood and from saving yourself by your own hand, now may your enemies and they who seek evil to my adoni, be as Nabal: 27 and now this blessing which your maid brings to my adoni, may it even be given to the lads who walk at the feet of my adoni: 28 I beseech you, lift the rebellion of your maid: for in working, Yah Veh works an amenable house for my adoni; because my adoni fights the wars of Yah Veh and no evil is found in you all your days: 29 yet a human rises to pursue you and to seek your soul: but the soul of my adoni is bound in the bundle of life with Yah Veh your Elohim; and he slings the souls of your enemies, as midst the hollow of a sling. 30 And so be it, when Yah Veh works to my adoni according to all the good he worded concerning you and misvahs you eminent over Yisra El; 31 that this neither stagger you, nor be a stumblingblock of heart to my adoni, either that you pour blood gratuitously, or that my adoni save himself: and Yah Veh deals well-pleasingly with my adoni, then remember your maid. 32 And David says to Abi Gail, Blessed - Yah Veh Elohim of Yisra El, who sends you this day to meet me: 33 and blessed - your perception and blessed - you who restrains me this day from coming to blood and from saving myself by my own hand. 34 And as Yah Veh Elohim of Yisra El lives, who withheld me from vilifying you, unless you had hastened to come to meet me, there had not remained to Nabal by the morning light any who urinates against the wall. 35 And David takes from her hand what she brings him, and says to her, Ascend in shalom to your house!
