THE REWARD FOR WRINGING HANDS

¹³ He who covers his rebellions prospers not; and whoever spreads hands and forsakes is mercied.

²⁰ For from eternal time I broke your yoke and tore your bonds; and you say, I serve not! when on every high hill and under every green tree you stroll, whoring.

²⁵ Withhold your foot from being unshod and your throat from thirst. And you say, I quit! No; I love strangers and after them I go.

² Lift your eyes to the barrens and see! Where have you not raped? You sit for them in the ways as the Arabiy in the wilderness; and you profane the land with your whoredoms and with your evil.

And Yah Veh says to me in the days of Yoshi Yah the sovereign, See you what apostate Yisra El works? She goes on every high mountain and under every green tree, and whores there.

²⁵ we lie down in our shame, and our confusion covers us: for we sin against Yah Veh our Elohim - we and our fathers from our youth even to this day, and hearken not to the voice of Yah Veh our Elohim.

²⁰ We acknowledge, O Yah Veh, our wickedness, and the perversity of our fathers: for we sinned against you.

¹⁸ In hearing, I hear Ephrayim wagging over himself; You disciplined me - disciplined me as a calf not trained: return me, and I return; for you are Yah Veh my Elohim. ¹⁹ Surely after I returned, I sighed; and after I was instructed, I slapped my flank: I shamed, yes, even confounded, because I bore the reproach of my youth. ²⁰ Is Ephrayim my esteemed son? A child of delights? For since I worded sufficient against him, in remembering, I remember him still: so my inwards trouble for him; In mercying, I mercy him - an oracle of Yah Veh.

¹⁵ And you confide in your own beauty and whore because of your name; and pour your whoredoms on every one who passes by - to him.

²⁴ you also build an arch to yourself and work a ramah in every broadway: ²⁵ build your ramah at every head of the way so that your beauty is abhorred; and spread your feet to every one passing by and abound your whoredoms.

¹⁸ I rise and go to my father, and say to him, Father, I sinned against the heavens and in your sight; ¹⁹ and am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of your hirelings. ²⁰ And he rises, and comes to his father. and still being afar, his father sees him and has a sympathetic spleen and runs and falls on his neck and ardently kisses him: ²¹ - and the son says to him, Father, I sinned against the heavens and in your sight and am no more worthy to be called your son.

⁸ whenever we say we have no sin we seduce ourselves and the truth is not in us: ⁹ whenever we profess our sins, he is trustworthy and just to forgive our sins and to purify us from all injustice: ¹⁰ whenever we say that we have not sinned we make him a liar and his word is not in us.
