THE SIN OF YAH HUDAH
At that time, - an oracle of Yah Veh they bring the bones of the sovereigns of Yah Hudah and the bones of his governors and the bones of the priests and the bones of the prophets and the bones of the settlers of Yeru Shalem from their tombs: 2 and they spread them to the sun and the moon and all the host of the heavens - whom they loved and whom they served and after whom they walked and whom they sought and to whom they prostrated: they are neither gathered nor entombed; they are for dung on the face of the soil: 3 and death is chosen rather than life by all the survivors who survive of this evil family who survive in all the places I drive them - an oracle of Yah Veh Sabaoth. 4 And you say to them, Thus says Yah Veh; Fall they, and rise not? Turns he away, and returns not? 5 Why then turns this people of Yeru Shalem away by a perpetual apostasy? They uphold deceit; they refuse to return. 6 I hearken and hear; they word not right: no man sighs of his evil, saying, What worked I? Every one turns to his race as a horse overflowing into the war. 7 Yes, the stork in the heavens knows her seasons; and the turtledove and the swallow and the thrush regard the time of their coming; and my people know not the judgment of Yah Veh. 8 How say you, We are wise and the torah of Yah Veh is with us? Behold, surely it works falsehood; the false stylus of the scribes works falsehood. 9 The wise shame: they are dismayed and captured: behold, they spurn the word of Yah Veh; and what wisdom is in them? 10 So I give their women to others and their fields to their successors: for every one from the least even to the greatest greedily gains to greedy gain - from the prophet even to the priest - every one works falsely. 11 And they heal the breech of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Shalom! Shalom! when there is no shalom. 12 Shame they when they work abhorrence? No, in shaming, they neither shame, nor know they to blush: so they fall among the fallen: - falter in the time of their visitation, says Yah Veh. 13 In consuming, I consume them, - an oracle of Yah Veh: - neither grapes on the vine nor figs on the fig tree; and the leaf withers; and I give these to pass away from them. 14 Why sit we? Gather together; and enter the fortified cities: and hush there: for Yah Veh our Elohim hushes us and gives us water of rosh to drink - because we sin against Yah Veh. 15 We await shalom, and there is no good; for a time of healing, and behold, fright! 16 The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: the whole land quakes at the voice of the neighing of his mighty; and they come and devour the land and the fulness thereof - the city, and they who settle therein. 17 For, behold, I send serpents - hissers among you, who have no charmer; and they bite you - an oracle of Yah Veh. 18 I cheer myself against grief, my heart bleeds within me. 19 Behold! the voice of the shout from the daughter of my people in a land afar: Is not Yah Veh in Siyon? Is not her sovereign in her? Why vex they me with their sculptiles? And with strange vanities? 20 The harvest passes; the summer concludes; and we - we are not saved. 21 For the breech of the daughter of my people, I breech; I darken; Desolation holds me. 22 Is there no balm in Gilad? Is there no healer there? Why ascends not the health of the daughter of my people?
