¹⁸ While he is yet wording, another also comes and says, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their firstbirthed brother;

²⁸ And Abi Shalom misvahs his lads, saying, Now see, when the heart of Amnon is good with wine, and I say to you, Smite Amnon! Deathify him! Awe not! I - misvah I you not? Strengthen! Sons of valour!

⁴ And his sons go and work a banquet in their houses - each man on his day; and they send and call for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

THE FIRST TEST OF IYOB
And so be it, a day his sons and his daughters are eating and drinking wine in the house of their firstbirthed brother;

² Oh that in weighing, my vexation were weighed and my calamity lifted in the balances together! ³ For now it is heavier than the sand of the sea; so I gulp my words;

⁴ If your children sin against him and he sends them away by the hand of their rebellion;

¹⁴ he breaches me at the face of breach on breach; he runs on me as the mighty.

⁹ he strips me of my honor and turns aside the crown from my head: ¹⁰ he pulls me down all around, and I go; and he plucks my hope as a tree:

² Even today my meditation is rebellious - my hand heavier than my sighing.

¹⁴ If his sons abound, it is for the sword; and his offspring satisfy not with bread:

¹⁹ many are the evils of the just; Yah Veh rescues him from them all.

² All in all; one happening: to the just and to the wicked; to the good and to the pure and to the foul; to him who sacrifices and to him who sacrifices not; as the good, thus the sinner; he who oaths, as he who awes an oath.

¹⁹ As often as it passes over, it takes you: for morning by morning it passes over - by day and by night: and it becomes an agitation even to discern the report:

³¹ runner runs to meet runner and teller to meet teller to tell the sovereign of Babel that his city is captured at the end:

¹² Is it naught to you, all you who pass by the way? Look and see if there be any sorrow like to the sorrow exploited to me - wherewith Yah Veh afflicted me in the day of his fuming wrath.

⁶ And I also - I gave you innocency of teeth in all your cities and lack of bread in all your places: yet you returned not to me - an oracle of Yah Veh. ⁷ And I also - I withheld the downpour from you, when yet three months to the harvest: and I, on one city, rained; and on one city, rained not: - one allotment, rained on; and the allotment not rained on withers: ⁸ and two or three cities wander to one city to drink water; and they satiated not: yet you returned not to me - an oracle of Yah Veh. ⁹ I smote you with blasting and pale green when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olives abounded; and the palmerworm devoured: yet you returned not to me - an oracle of Yah Veh. ¹⁰ I sent the pestilence among you by the way of Misrayim: I slaughtered your youths with the sword and took away your horses; and I ascended the stink of your camps to your nostrils: yet you returned not to me - an oracle of Yah Veh. ¹¹ I turned against you, as Elohim overthrew Sedom and Amorah, - as a brand rescued from the burning: yet you returned not to me - an oracle of Yah Veh.
