² Rise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it; for their evil ascends at my face.

¹¹ From that land Ashshur goes and builds Nineveh and the city Rechovoth and Kelach;

²⁰ And Yah Veh says, Because the cry of Sedom and Amorah is great and because their sin is mighty heavy; ²¹ I now descend and see whether they have fully worked according to the cry thereof, which comes to me: and if not, I know.

³⁶ And Sancherib, sovereign of Ashshur pulls stakes and goes and returns and settles at Nineveh:

⁶ and say, O my Elohim, I shame and blush to lift my face to thee, my Elohim: for our perversities abound over our head, and our guilt grows to the heavens:

FASTING
Call out with the throat! Spare not! Lift your voice as a shophar and tell my people their rebellion; and the house of Yaaqov their sins.

⁷ And Yah Veh says to me, Say not, I am a lad: go to all to whom I send you, and word whatever I misvah you: ⁸ awe not their faces: for I am with you to rescue you - an oracle of Yah Veh. ⁹ And Yah Veh spreads his hand, and touches my mouth: and Yah Veh says to me, Behold, I give my words in your mouth. ¹⁰ See, this day I set you overseer over the goyim and over the sovereigndoms; to uproot and to pull down and to destroy and to demolish; to build and to plant.

⁷ and you, word my words to them, whether they hear or whether they desist: for they are most rebellious.

⁵ For you are not sent to a people of deep lip and of a heavy tongue - but to the house of Yisra El: ⁶ not to many people of a deep lip and of a heavy tongue whose words you hear not. Had I sent you to them, they had hearkened to you. ⁷ But the house of Yisra El wills to not hearken to you; for they will to not hearken to me: for all the house of Yisra El is strong foreheaded and hardhearted. ⁸ Behold, I give your face strong alongside their faces and your forehead strong alongside their foreheads: ⁹ as a brier stronger than flint I give your forehead: neither awe them nor dismay at their faces, though they be a rebellious house.

¹¹ and I - spare I not Nineveh, that great city, wherein twelve myriads of humanity abound - who know not between their right and their left - and many animals?

⁸ And I am filled of force by the spirit of Yah Veh; and of judgment and of might to declare to Yaaqov his rebellion and to Yisra El his sin.

THE FALL OF NINEVEH
He who shatters ascends in front of your face: guard the rampart; watch the way; strengthen your loins; strengthen your power mightily: ² for Yah Veh turns away the pomp of Yaaqov as the pomp of Yisra El: for the evacuators evacuate them and ruin their vine twigs: ³ the buckler of his mighty reddens; the valiant men are in dyed scarlet: and fiery chariots with cleavers of fire in the day of his preparation; and the fir trees shake.

¹³ And he spreads his hand against the north and destroys Ashshur; and sets Nineveh as a desolation and parches as a wilderness: ¹⁴ and droves crouch among her - all the live beings of the goyim: both the pelican and the bittern stay overnight in the upper lintels thereof; their voice sings in the windows; parch is in the thresholds: for he strips naked the cedar work ¹⁵ - this - the city of jumping for joy who settles confidently - who says in her heart, I - and there is no one beside me! How she becomes a desolation - a resting place for live beings! every one who passes by her hisses and wags his hand.

¹⁸ and bring you in front of governors and sovereigns for my sake, in a witness against them and the goyim.

⁴ Behold, the hire of the workers who ingathered your regions - whom you cheated, cries out: and the cries of them who harvest enter the ears of Yah Veh Sabaoth.

⁵ Because her sins follow to the heavens and Elohim remembers her injustices.
