⁷ ¶ For who makes thee to judge? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, what dost thou glory of, as if thou hadst not received it?

¹¹ Thine, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the honour, for all things in the heavens and in the earth are thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. ¹² The riches and the glory are before thee, and thou dost reign over all, and in thy hand is power and might and in thy hand the greatness and the strength of all things. ¹³ Now, therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. ¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? For all things come of thee and of thine own have we given thee. ¹⁵ For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers; our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no other hope. ¹⁶ O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee a house for thy holy name comes of thy hand and is all thy own.

⁷ And that night God appeared unto Solomon and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. ⁸ And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast showed great mercy unto David, my father, and hast placed me as king in his stead. ⁹ Now, O LORD God, let thy word unto David, my father, be established, for thou hast placed me as king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. ¹⁰ Give me now wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? ¹¹ And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth or glory, nor the life of thy enemies, neither yet hast asked long life, but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou may judge my people, over whom I have placed thee as king, ¹² wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will also give thee riches and wealth and glory such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall any after thee have the like.

²³ And many brought a present unto the LORD to Jerusalem and precious gifts unto Hezekiah, king of Judah, so that he was magnified in the sight of all the Gentiles from then on. ²⁴ ¶ In those days Hezekiah was sick unto the death and prayed to the LORD, who responded to him and gave him a sign. ²⁵ But Hezekiah did not render again according to the benefit done unto him, for his heart lifted itself up; therefore there was wrath against him and against Judah and Jerusalem. ²⁶ Notwithstanding, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah. ²⁷ And Hezekiah had exceedingly great riches and honour, and he made himself treasures of silver and of gold and of precious stones and of spices and of shields and of all manner of pleasant vessels, ²⁸ storehouses also for the increase of grain and wine and oil and stalls for all manner of beasts and places for cattle. ²⁹ Moreover, he made himself cities and possessions of sheep and cows in abundance, for God had given him great substance.

⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and intelligence.

² Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Because thy heart has lifted thee up and thou hast said, I am God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas (yet thou art man, and not God); and thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God: ³ behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: ⁴ with thy wisdom and with thine intelligence thou hast gotten thee riches and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: ⁵ by the greatness of thy wisdom in thy trafficking thou hast multiplied thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

³ Speak and say, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lies in the midst of his rivers, who has said, My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.

³⁰ the king spoke and said, Is this not the great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power and for the glory of my greatness? ³¹ The word was yet in the king’s mouth when there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee; ³² and they drive thee from among men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; and they shall feed thee as the oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee until thou know that the most High takes rule in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever he will.

¹⁸ O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom and the greatness and the glory and the magnificence:

²³ but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou and thy princes, thy wives and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; furthermore, thou hast praised gods of silver and of gold, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand is thy soul and whose are all thy ways, thou hast never honoured.

¹⁴ ¶ For it is like a man travelling into a far country, who called his own slaves and delivered unto them his goods. ¹⁵ And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each one according to his faculty, and straightway took his journey.

¹³ And having called ten of his slaves, he delivered them ten minas and said unto them, Trade until I come.

¹⁶ And of his fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

²⁷ John answered and said, A man can receive nothing except it is given him from the heaven.

²² And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of god, and not of man. ²³ And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him because he did not give God the glory, and he expired eaten of worms.

⁵ By whom we have received the grace and the apostleship, to cause the faith to be obeyed among all the Gentiles in his name,

¹⁶ So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that has mercy. ¹⁷ For the scripture saith of Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. ¹⁸ Therefore he has mercy on whom he will have mercy, and he hardens whom he will.

³ Therefore I say through the grace given unto me, to all those that are among you not to obtain more knowledge than is prudent to know, but to obtain knowledge with temperance, each one according to the measure of faith that God has dealt.

⁶ So that having different gifts according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, according to the measure of faith;

⁵ ¶ Who then is Paul? and who is Apollos? but servants by whom ye believed, each one according to that which the Lord gave.

⁶ Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?

⁷ For I would that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one after this manner and another after that.

⁴ Now there is dispersal of gifts, but the same Spirit. ⁵ And there is dispersal of ministries, but the same Lord. ⁶ And there is dispersal of operations, but it is the same God who works all in each one. ⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one to profit with. ⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit a word of wisdom; to another, a word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; ⁹ to another, faith by the same Spirit; to another, gifts of healing by the same Spirit; ¹⁰ to another, the operation of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, discerning of spirits; to another, different kinds of tongues; to another, the interpretation of tongues: ¹¹ one and the same Spirit operates all these things, dispersing to each one his own gift as he wills.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am; and his grace towards me was not in vain, for I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

³ how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery (as I wrote above in a few words, ⁴ by which, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of the Christ), ⁵ which in other generations was not made known unto the sons of men as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit,

¹² that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but consented to the iniquity. ¹³ ¶ But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to saving health through the sanctification of the Spirit and faith in the truth, ¹⁴ unto which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹² ¶ And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has enabled me, for he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, ¹³ who was before a blasphemer and a persecutor and injurious, but I was received unto mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ This is a faithful saying and worthy of acceptation by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first.

³ For we ourselves also were foolish in another time, rebellious, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which he poured out abundantly in us through Jesus, the Christ, our Saviour; ⁷ that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning.

¹⁰ Let each one according to the gift that he has received, administer it unto the others, as a good steward of the diverse graces of God.
