¹ ¶ Then Elijah, the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. ² And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, ³ Leave this place and turn to the east and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan, ⁴ and thou shalt drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. ⁵ So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD; for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan. ⁶ And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning and bread and flesh in the evening, and he drank from the brook. ⁷ And it came to pass after a while that the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. ⁸ ¶ And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, ⁹ Arise, go to Zarephath of Zidon, and thou shalt dwell there; behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. ¹⁰ So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks; and he called to her and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. ¹¹ And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her again and said, Bring me also, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thy hand. ¹² And she said, As the LORD thy God lives, I have no baked bread, but only a handful of meal in a pitcher and a little oil in a cruse; and now I was gathering two sticks that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die. ¹³ And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said; but first make me a little cake of bread baked under the ashes and bring it unto me, and afterwards thou shalt make for thee and for thy son. ¹⁴ For thus hath said the LORD God of Israel, The pitcher of meal shall not be consumed, neither shall the cruse of oil fail until that day when the LORD shall send rain upon the earth. ¹⁵ And she went and did as Elijah told her; and he and she and her house ate for many days. ¹⁶ And the pitcher of meal was not consumed, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD which he spoke by Elijah. ¹⁷ ¶ And it came to pass after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him. ¹⁸ And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? Art thou come unto me to call my iniquity to remembrance and to cause my son to die? ¹⁹ And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom and carried him up into the chamber where he abode and laid him upon his own bed. ²⁰ And he cried unto the LORD and said, O LORD my God, hast thou even brought evil upon the widow, with whom I sojourn, by killing her son? ²¹ And he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried unto the LORD and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again. ²² And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. ²³ And Elijah took the child and brought him down out of the chamber into the house and delivered him unto his mother, and Elijah said, See, thy son lives. ²⁴ Then the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God and that the word of the LORD is true in thy mouth.

⁸ At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

⁴ Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim because they had said, Ye are fugitives of Ephraim; ye are Gileadites among Ephraim and Manasseh.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass after many days that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

¹⁰ As the LORD thy God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek thee; and when they all said, He is not here; he has caused kingdoms and nations to swear an oath if they have found thee or not.

¹⁵ And Elijah said unto him, As the LORD of the hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him today.

¹⁴ And Micaiah said, As the LORD lives, all that the LORD says unto me, that will I speak.

¹⁴ And Elisha said, As the LORD of the hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee nor see thee.

¹⁶ But he said, As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it, but he refused.

¹⁸ ¶ Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thyself with them all, as with a garment of honour and shalt be girded by them as a bride.

¹⁹ Therefore thus hath the LORD said, If thou wilt return, then I will bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me; and if thou wilt take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth; let them return unto thee, but return not thou unto them.

²⁹ for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.

¹⁴ And if ye will receive it, this is that Elijah who was to come.

¹⁴ And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.

⁴⁷ Some of those that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calls for Elijah.

⁴⁹ The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.

¹⁷ And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the rebellious to the prudence of the just, to make ready a prepared people for the Lord.

¹⁹ And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and am sent to speak unto thee and to show thee this gospel.

²⁵ But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land, ²⁶ but unto none of them was Elijah sent, except unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a widow woman.

³⁰ And, behold, two men talked with him, who were Moses and Elijah,

³³ And it came to pass as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to remain here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for thee and one for Moses and one for Elijah, not knowing what he said.

⁵⁴ And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did?

³⁶ Watch ye therefore and pray always that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of man.

²¹ And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.

²⁵ And they asked him and said unto him, Why dost thou baptize then if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?

²³ For the angel of God stood by me this night, whose I am and whom I serve,

² God has not cast away his people whom he knew beforehand. Know ye not what the scripture says of Elijah? how speaking to God against Israel, he said,

¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to passions like unto ours, and he asked in prayer that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.

⁶ These have power to shut the heaven, that it not rain in the days of their prophecy and have power over the waters to turn them to blood and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

²² But the word of God came unto Shemaiah, the man of God, saying,

³ And it came to pass the same night that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

²⁵ And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

²⁰ Thou shalt keep them in the secret place of thy face from the pride of man; thou shalt keep them in the tabernacle protected from the strife of tongues.

³ They have taken prudent counsel in secret against thy people and consulted against thy hidden ones.

¹⁹ Then the princes said unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.

²⁶ But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but the LORD hid them.

⁵⁹ Then they took up stones to cast at him, but Jesus concealed himself and went out of the temple, and going through the midst of them, went away.

¹⁴ And then immediately the brethren sent Paul to go away towards the sea, but Silas and Timothy abode there still.

³⁸ (of whom the world was not worthy); they wandered in deserts and in mountains and in dens and caves of the earth.

⁶ And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and sixty days.

¹⁴ And to the woman were given two wings of the great eagle that she might fly from the presence of the serpent into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time and times.

⁸ Take the rod and gather the congregation together, thou and Aaron, thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, and it shall give forth its water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

⁹ Arise, go to Zarephath of Zidon, and thou shalt dwell there; behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

⁵ And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him and said unto him, Arise and eat. ⁶ Then he looked and behold, there was a cake baked on the coals and a cruse of water at his head. And he ate and drank and went back to sleep. ⁷ And the angel of the LORD came again the second time and touched him and said, Arise and eat, for there is a great journey before thee. ⁸ And he arose and ate and drank and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb, the mount of God.

²⁹ When he gives rest, who then can make trouble? If he hides his face, who then can behold him? This applies to a nation and the same to a man,

⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? ⁹ When I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness a swaddling band for it, ¹⁰ and established my decree upon it, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ and said, Thou shalt come unto here, but no further; and there shall the pride of thy waves be stayed. ¹² ¶ Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days? Hast thou shown the dayspring its place, ¹³ that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

⁴¹ Who provided food for the raven; when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of food?

⁸ Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. ⁹ For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it came into being.

⁹ He who gives the beast his food and to the sons of the ravens which cry unto him.

³ and though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out of there; and though they hide from my sight in the bottom of the sea, from there will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: ⁴ and though they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set my eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

¹¹ Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

⁹ ¶ And there he went into a cave, where he lodged; and the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.

²⁴ ¶ Then Jesus said unto his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross {Gr. stauros – stake} and follow me.

¹⁴ Ye are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command you.

³⁵ Thus the sons of Israel ate manna forty years until they came to a land inhabited; they ate manna until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.

²³ Then the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’s hand waxed short? Thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

¹⁴ And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not declare the enigma in three days.

¹⁸ ¶ And he was sore athirst and called on the LORD and said, Thou hast given this great salvation by the hand of thy slave; and now shall I die for thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? ¹⁹ Then God broke a tooth that was in the jaw, and water came out there; and he drank, and recovered his spirit, and he lived. Therefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, {Heb. the fountain of he who called}, which is in Lehi unto this day.

⁹ Teth O fear the LORD, ye his saints; for those that fear him lack nothing. ¹⁰ Jod The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but those that seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

³ Beth Wait in the LORD and do good; live in the land and uphold the truth.

¹⁹ They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

¹⁵ He clave the rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink as out of the great depths. ¹⁶ He brought streams also out of the rock and caused waters to run down like rivers.

²³ and he commanded the clouds of above and opened the doors of the heavens ²⁴ and caused manna to rain upon them to eat and gave them wheat of the heavens.

¹⁶ he shall dwell upon the high places: fortresses of rocks shall be his place of refuge: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

²¹ Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the guard and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street until all the bread in the city was spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

⁴ And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seems good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seems ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; where it seems good and convenient for thee to go, go there.

¹⁷ Because the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be on the vines; the labour of the olive shall lie, and the cultivated fields shall yield no food; the sheep shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: ¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will joy in the God of my saving health.

³¹ Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed? ³² For the Gentiles seek after all these things.) For your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things. ³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass and took the five loaves and the two fishes; and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ²⁰ And they all ate and were filled, and they took up of the fragments that remained, twelve baskets full. ²¹ And those that had eaten were about five thousand men besides women and children.

²⁶ But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

³⁵ And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse and provision bag and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing.

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us,

⁵ Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have; for he has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. ⁶ So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

³⁰ The young men faint and are weary; the children stumble and fall; ³¹ but those that wait for the LORD shall have new strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

¹⁰ For the mountains shall be removed, and the hills shall tremble; but my mercy shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be changed, said the LORD that has mercy on thee.

¹⁴ And Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Shall See (YHWH-jireh). Therefore it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

² And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

¹⁷ The poor and needy seek the waters that are not; their tongue fails for thirst; I the LORD will hear them; I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

⁶ So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

² And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, My own hand has saved me.

⁴ And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there; and it shall be that of whom I say unto thee, This one shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whoever I say unto thee, This one shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.

⁴ and thou shalt drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

²⁰ And the captives of this host of the sons of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who shall be in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

²¹ ¶ Then Jesus left there and departed into the parts of Tyre and Sidon. ²² And, behold, a woman of Canaan having come out of the same borders cried unto him, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me; my daughter is sick, possessed by a demon.

²⁶ but unto none of them was Elijah sent, except unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a widow woman.

¹⁷ ¶ as it is written, As a father of many Gentiles have I placed thee before God, whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which are not as those that are. ¹⁸ Who believed to wait against all hope, that he might become the father of many Gentiles, according to that which had been spoken unto him, So shall thy seed be. ¹⁹ And he did not weaken in faith: he considered not his own body now dead when he was about one hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb; ²⁰ he doubted not the promise of God, with unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, ²¹ being fully persuaded that he was also powerful to do all that he had promised;

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay vessels that the excellency of the virtue may be of God, and not of us.

¹⁵ And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under a tree.

¹⁷ Then the slave ran to meet her and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.

⁷ There came a woman of Samaria to draw water; Jesus said unto her, Give me to drink.

²⁷ in labour and travail, in many watches, in hunger and thirst, in many fasts, in cold and nakedness.

³⁷ they were stoned; they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword; they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; poor, afflicted, mistreated,

⁵ and I will bring a morsel of bread and comfort your hearts; after that ye shall pass on because for this ye are come to your slave. And they said, So do as thou hast said.

¹⁸ And she said, Drink, my lord, and she hastened to let down her pitcher upon her hand and gave him drink. ¹⁹ And when she had finished giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also until they have finished drinking.

⁴ for when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, Obadiah took one hundred prophets and hid them in groups of fifty in caves and sustained them with bread and water.)

⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

³⁵ for I was hungry, and ye gave me food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; ³⁶ naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee? or thirsty and give thee drink? ³⁸ When did we see thee a stranger and take thee in? or naked and clothe thee? ³⁹ Or when did we see thee sick or in prison and come unto thee? ⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brothers, ye have done it unto me.

² Do not forget to show hospitality; for thereby some, having entertained angels, were kept.

¹⁶ And she went and sat her down over against him a good way off as it were a bowshot; for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him and lifted up her voice and wept.

³⁹ For, as the LORD lives, who saves Israel, though it be in Jonathan, my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.

⁴⁵ Then the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has wrought this great saving health in Israel? No, in no wise: as the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has wrought with God this day. So the people rescued {Heb. ransomed} Jonathan that he did not die.

³ And David swore moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knows that I have found grace in thine eyes, and he saith in himself, Let Jonathan not know this lest he be grieved; but truly as the LORD lives and as thy soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.

²¹ And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee; take them, then come thou, for there is peace unto thee and no hurt, as the LORD lives.

²⁶ Now, therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives and as thy soul lives, seeing the LORD has withheld thee from coming to shed blood and from avenging thyself with thy own hand, now let thy enemies and those that seek evil to my lord be as Nabal.

¹⁰ David said furthermore, As the LORD lives, if the LORD does not smite him or his day comes to die or he descends into battle and perishes,

²¹ And Ittai answered the king and said, As the LORD lives and as my lord the king lives, for life or for death, wherever my lord the king shall be, there also will thy slave be.

² And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? Tell me what thou hast in the house? And she said, Thy handmaid has nothing in the house except a flask of oil. ³ And he said, Go, borrow vessels from all thy neighbours, empty vessels; borrow not a few. ⁴ Then enter in and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons and pour out into all those vessels, and as each one is full, set it aside. ⁵ So she went from him and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her, and she poured out the oil. ⁶ And when the vessels were full, she said unto her son, Bring me yet another vessel. And he said unto her, There are no more vessels. Then the oil stopped flowing. ⁷ Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell this oil and pay thy debtors and live thou and thy sons of the rest.

² And thou shalt swear, The LORD lives, in truth, in judgment, and in righteous ness; and the Gentiles shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

² And if they should say, The LORD lives; surely they swear falsely.

¹⁸ If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold those that are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest walked around in circles in the land, and they did not know it.

⁹ Teth Those slain with the sword are better than those slain with hunger; for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the earth.

¹⁸ Son of man, eat thy bread with quaking and drink thy water with trembling and with anxiety ¹⁹ and say unto the people of the land, Thus hath the Lord GOD said regarding the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the land of Israel. They shall eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with terror that her land may be desolate from all that is in it because of the violence of all those that dwell therein.

¹⁵ Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. ¹⁶ Is not the food cut off before our eyes, the joy and the gladness from the house of our God?

³³ Then his disciples say unto him, From where do we have so much bread in the wilderness as to satisfy so great a multitude? ³⁴ And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven and a few little fishes.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass after these things that God proved Abraham and said unto him, Abraham; and he said, Behold, here I am. ² And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou dost love, and go to the land of Moriah and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

¹³ And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still and see the saving health of the LORD, which he will bestow on you today; for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall never see them again for ever.

⁵ So he brought the people down unto the water, and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that laps of the water with his tongue as a dog laps, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that bows down upon his knees to drink. ⁶ And the number of those that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men; but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink the water. ⁷ Then the LORD said unto Gideon, With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and deliver the Midianites into thy hand; and let all the other people go each one to his place.

¹⁶ And he answered, Fear not; for those that are with us are more than those that are with them.

¹⁷ Ye shall not need to fight in this battle; set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you. O Judah and Jerusalem; fear not, neither be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD shall be with you.

⁹ Honour the LORD with thy substance and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

¹⁰ ¶ Do not fear for I am with thee; do not be dismayed, for I am thy God, who strengthens thee; I will help thee always; I will always uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

¹³ For I am the LORD thy God that holds thy right hand saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

¹⁰ Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, and there shall be food in my house, and prove me now in this, said the LORD of the hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

³⁷ He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

²¹ Jesus said unto him, If thou desire to be perfect, go and sell what thou hast and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me. ²² But when the young man heard that word, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

⁵ And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye, for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified.

²⁴ saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar; and, behold, God has given thee all those that sail with thee.

¹⁷ By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac, and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

⁷ that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold (which perishes, nevertheless it is tried with fire), might be found unto praise and glory and honour when Jesus, the Christ, is made manifest;

¹⁶ and he said, Thus hath the LORD said, Make this valley full of ditches.

⁴² Then a man came from Baalshalisha, who brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of wheat in the head. And he said, Give unto the people that they may eat. ⁴³ And his minister said, How can I set this before one hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat, for thus hath the LORD said, They shall eat, and some shall be left over. ⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they ate, and some was left over, according to the word of the LORD.

¹ ¶ Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus hath the LORD said, Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

⁶ And he arose and went into the house, and he poured the oil on his head and said unto him, Thus hath said the LORD God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the LORD, even over Israel.

¹⁷ And they said unto him, We have here but five loaves and two fishes. ¹⁸ He said, Bring them here to me. ¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass and took the five loaves and the two fishes; and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ²⁰ And they all ate and were filled, and they took up of the fragments that remained, twelve baskets full.

³⁶ And he took the seven loaves and the fishes and gave thanks and broke them and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ³⁷ And they all ate and were filled, and they took up of the broken food that was left seven baskets full. ³⁸ And those that ate were four thousand men besides women and children.

²² ¶ Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

⁴ ¶ So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him, and Lot went with him, and Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.

³ ¶ And Abraham rose up early in the morning and saddled his ass and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son, and cut the wood for the burnt offering and rose up and went unto the place of which God had told him.

²⁰ ¶ And when they arose early in the morning and while they were going forth into the wilderness of Tekoa, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe the LORD your God, and ye shall be secure; believe his prophets, and ye shall be prospered.

²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith; be it unto thee even as thou desire. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

⁴³ Then calling his disciples, he said unto them, Verily I say unto you that this poor widow has cast more in than all those who have cast into the treasury,

⁴⁰ Jesus said unto her, Did I not say unto thee that if thou wouldest believe thou shalt see the glory of God?

¹⁹ And he did not weaken in faith: he considered not his own body now dead when he was about one hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb; ²⁰ he doubted not the promise of God, with unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,

⁷ By faith Noah, having received revelation of things not seen as yet, with great care prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by which he condemned the world and was made heir of the righteousness which is by faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, being called, hearkened to go out into the place which he should afterwards receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he went.

⁵ The altar also was rent, and the ashes with the burnt fat were poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

¹² Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke against Baasha by Jehu, the prophet,

²⁸ And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yes, Lord. ²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. ³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no one knows it.

³⁷ For with God nothing is impossible.

⁴⁵ And blessed is she that believed, for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

⁵⁰ Jesus said unto him, Go; thy son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus spoke unto him, and he went. ⁵¹ And as he was now going down, his slaves met him and told him, saying, Thy son lives.

¹⁸ ¶ And when the child was grown, it came to pass one day, that he went out to his father to the reapers. ¹⁹ And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a servant, Carry him to his mother. ²⁰ And when he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees until noon and then died.

¹⁰ In his hand is the soul of every living thing and the spirit of all flesh of man.

¹⁴ If he were to set his heart upon man and gather unto himself his spirit and his breath,

²⁹ Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their spirit, they cease to exist and return to their dust.

²³ but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou and thy princes, thy wives and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; furthermore, thou hast praised gods of silver and of gold, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand is thy soul and whose are all thy ways, thou hast never honoured.

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and of prayer, and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn over him as one mourns for his only son, afflicting themselves over him as one afflicts himself over his firstborn.

³ Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. ⁴ When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

¹⁴ Then Jesus said unto them plainly, Lazarus has died.

² ¶ My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into diverse trials, ³ knowing that the proving of your faith works patience, ⁴ and the patience finishes the work, that ye may be perfect and entire, not lacking in anything.

¹² Blessed is the man that patiently endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those that love him.

²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

¹² ¶ Beloved, think it not strange when you are tried by fire (which is done to prove you) as though some strange thing happened unto you,

²¹ ¶ And they said one to another, We are truly guilty concerning our brother in that we saw the anguish of his soul when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us. ²² Then Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak unto you, saying, Do not sin against the young man, and ye would not hear? Therefore, behold, his blood is also required.

¹⁵ ¶ And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

¹⁷ So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren and their sin, for they did unto thee evil; and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the slaves of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spoke unto him.

⁴ And Samuel did as the LORD said and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming and said, Comest thou peaceably?

¹⁰ And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? So let him curse, because the LORD has said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why hast thou done so?

²² Then David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? Shall anyone be put to death today in Israel? Do I not know that I am this day king over Israel?

¹ ¶ And, behold, a man of God came out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Bethel; and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.

⁹ And he said, In what have I sinned that thou should deliver thy slave into the hand of Ahab, for him to slay me?

¹³ Then Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? Go to the prophets of thy father and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, No, for the LORD has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

²¹ But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I do not come against thee this day, but against the house that makes war with me, for God commanded me to make haste. Forbear from meddling with God, who is with me, that he not destroy thee.

²³ ¶ How many are my iniquities and sins? Make me to know my transgression and my sin.

²⁶ Why dost thou write bitter things against me and make me carry the iniquities of my youth.

²³ And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to those that have sworn oaths; but he will call to remembrance the iniquity that they may be taken. ²⁴ Therefore thus hath the Lord GOD said: Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, manifesting your betrayals and uncovering your sins in all your doings; for which ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

⁷ Crying out with a loud voice, he said, What hast thou with me, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

¹⁵ And they come to Jesus and see him that was tormented by the demon and had the legion sitting and clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. ¹⁶ And those that saw it told them what happened to him that had the demon and also concerning the swine. ¹⁷ And they began to plead with him to depart out of their borders.

¹⁶ But when Herod heard of it, he said, This is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

³⁴ saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art: the Holy One of God.

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down on his knees before Jesus, saying, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

⁴ Jesus said unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? My hour is not yet come.

¹⁰ Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall, and let us set for him there a bed and a table and a stool and a lampstand so that when he comes to us, he shall turn in there.

²¹ Then she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God and shut the door upon him and went out.

³² And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was laid dead upon his bed.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days that she was sick and died, whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

²³ ¶ And Abraham drew near and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? ²⁴ Peradventure there are fifty righteous within the city; wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are in it? ²⁵ That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked and that the righteous should be treated as the wicked that are far from thee. Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

⁴ Then Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.

⁸ O Lord, what shall I say now that Israel has turned their backs before their enemies! ⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it and shall compass us around and cut off our name from upon the earth; then what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

⁸ And the sons of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. ⁹ And Samuel took a sucking lamb and offered it for a burnt offering completely unto the LORD, and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel, and the LORD heard him.

³⁶ And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, LORD God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel and that I am thy slave and that I have done all these things at thy word. ³⁷ Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God and that thou shalt convert their heart back again to thee.

⁴ Peradventure, the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, has sent to reproach the living God and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God has heard; therefore, lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.

¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, saying, O LORD God of Israel, who dwellest above the cherubim, thou alone art the God unto all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

¹³ Verily, in vain have I cleansed my heart and washed my hands in innocency ¹⁴ and been plagued all day long and chastened every morning:

⁶ ¶ Moses and Aaron are among his priests and Samuel among those that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

¹ ¶ Righteous art thou, O LORD, even though I dispute with thee: even so, I will speak judgments with thee; Why does the way of the wicked prosper? All those that completely rebel against thee have peace.

²² And all things, whatever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

¹⁵ and the prayer of faith shall cause the one who is sick to be saved, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he shall be forgiven them. ¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that ye may be whole. The effectual prayer of the righteous is very powerful. ¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to passions like unto ours, and he asked in prayer that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. ¹⁸ And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

³³ He went in therefore and shut the door upon both of them and prayed unto the LORD. ³⁴ Then he went up and lay upon the child and put his mouth upon his mouth and his eyes upon his eyes and his hands upon his hands; thus he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. ³⁵ Then he returned and walked through the house to and fro and went up and stretched himself upon him again; and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.

⁴⁰ Then Peter put them all out and knelt down and prayed and turned to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁰ and he became very hungry and would have eaten; but while they made ready, he fell into a rapture of understanding

¹⁰ And Paul went down and fell on him and, embracing him, said, Trouble not yourselves, for his soul is still in him.

¹⁹ accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence he also received him in a figure.

³⁹ ¶ See now that I, I am he, and there are no gods with me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal; and there is not one that can deliver out of my hand.

⁶ The LORD kills, and he gives life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.

²¹ And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha; and when the dead man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

⁵⁴ And he put them all out and took her by the hand and called, saying, Maid, arise.

²⁸ Marvel not at this, for an hour shall come when all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, ²⁹ and those that have done good shall come forth unto the resurrection of life; but those that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.

⁴³ And having said these things, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

¹² And they took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.

⁹ For to this end Christ both died and rose and revived: to thus exercise lordship over the dead as well as over the living.

³⁵ women received their dead raised to life again, and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance that they might obtain a better resurrection;

¹¹ And after three days and a half, the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon those who saw them.

³⁶ And he called Gehazi and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And as she was coming in unto him, he said, Take up thy son. ³⁷ Then she entered in and fell at his feet and bowed herself to the ground and took up her son and went out.

¹⁵ And he that was dead sat up and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

⁴¹ And he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

¹⁰ The preacher sought to find willing words and upright writings, even words of truth.

¹¹ This beginning of the signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and manifested forth his glory, and his disciples believed on him.

² the same came to Jesus by night and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that thou doest unless God is with him.

⁴² and said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speech; for we have heard him ourselves and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. ⁴³ ¶ Now after two days he departed from that place and went into Galilee. ⁴⁴ For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honour in his own country. ⁴⁵ Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they had also gone to the feast. ⁴⁶ So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. ⁴⁷ When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him and besought him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. ⁴⁸ Then Jesus said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

¹⁵ And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, in order that ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

⁴² And I knew that thou hearest me always, but because of the people who stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

²⁴ If I had not done among them works which no other man has done, they would not have sin; but now they have seen them and hate both me and my Father.

³⁰ Now we understand that thou knowest all things and needest not that anyone should ask thee; by this we believe that thou didst come forth from God.

¹³ ¶ For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, that having received from us the word to hear from God, ye received it not as the word of men, (but as it is in truth) the word of God, which effectually works in you that believe.

²¹ I have not written unto you as if ye ignore the truth, but as unto those that know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
