¹ ¶ And Solomon, the son of David, was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him and magnified him exceedingly. ² Then Solomon spoke unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds and to the judges and to every prince in all Israel, the chief of the fathers. ³ So Solomon and all the congregation with him went to the high place that was at Gibeon, for there was the tabernacle of the testimony of God, which Moses the slave of the LORD had made in the wilderness. ⁴ But David had brought the ark of God up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem. ⁵ Moreover, the brasen altar that Bezaleel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made was there before the tabernacle of the LORD; and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it. ⁶ And Solomon went up there to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the testimony, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it. ⁷ And that night God appeared unto Solomon and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. ⁸ And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast showed great mercy unto David, my father, and hast placed me as king in his stead. ⁹ Now, O LORD God, let thy word unto David, my father, be established, for thou hast placed me as king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. ¹⁰ Give me now wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? ¹¹ And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth or glory, nor the life of thy enemies, neither yet hast asked long life, but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou may judge my people, over whom I have placed thee as king, ¹² wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will also give thee riches and wealth and glory such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall any after thee have the like. ¹³ ¶ Then Solomon returned to Jerusalem from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the tabernacle of the testimony, and reigned over Israel. ¹⁴ And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and he had a thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and he made cedar trees as the sycamore trees that are in the vale for abundance. ¹⁶ And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn; the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price. ¹⁷ And they went up and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver and a horse for one hundred and fifty; and so they brought out horses for all the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Syria, by their hands.

² In the day of the first month, the first of the month shalt thou set up the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony.

³⁴ ¶ Then a cloud covered the tabernacle of the testimony, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

²⁵ And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy slave and concerning his house, raise it up for ever and do as thou hast said. ²⁶ For thus shall thy name be magnified for ever that it may be said, The LORD of the hosts is God over Israel and that the house of thy slave David be established before thee. ²⁷ For thou, O LORD of the hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy slave, saying, I will build thee a house. Therefore, thy slave has found it in his heart to pray this prayer in thy presence. ²⁸ And now, O Lord GOD, thou art God, and thy words shall be firm, and thou hast spoken this goodness unto thy slave. ²⁹ Therefore, now let it please thee to bless the house of thy slave that it may continue for ever before thee, for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it, and with thy blessing the house of thy slave shall be blessed for ever.

⁷ Then Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus hath said the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul, ⁸ and I gave thee thy master’s house and thy master’s wives into thy bosom and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah, and if that is too little, I shall add unto thee such and such things.

David also had upon him an ephod of linen. ²⁸ Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting and with sound of the shofar and with trumpets and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

²⁹ For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering were at that season in the high place at Gibeon,

⁴ And there were more men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar, and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar, there were sixteen chief men of the houses of their fathers and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the houses of their fathers.

⁵ and of all my sons (for the LORD has given me many sons) he has chosen Solomon, my son, to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel. ⁶ And he said unto me, Solomon, thy son, he shall build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father. ⁷ Moreover, I will establish his kingdom for ever if he is constant to do my commandments and my judgments as at this day.

As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now have I seen with joy that thy people, who are present here, have given willingly unto thee. ¹⁸ O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep for ever this purpose in the thoughts of the heart of thy people and prepare their heart unto thee.

¹² wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will also give thee riches and wealth and glory such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall any after thee have the like.

²² And King Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

²⁵ And Solomon also had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

²⁷ And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedar trees as the sycamore trees that are in the low plains in abundance. ²⁸ And they brought unto Solomon horses out of Egypt and out of all lands.

²⁰ ¶ Then Hezekiah, the king, rose early and gathered the rulers of the city and went up to the house of the LORD.

² For the king had taken counsel with his princes and with all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month.

²⁹ ¶ Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. ³⁰ And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and with him all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the priests and the Levites and all the people, great and small; and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.

²⁴ then thou shalt lay up gold as dust and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. ²⁵ And the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

¹³ For great is thy mercy upon me, and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest part of Sheol.

²⁰ I have found David my slave; I anointed him with the oil of my holiness, ²¹ with whom my hand shall be established; mine arm also shall strengthen him. ²² The enemy shall not overcome him, nor the son of iniquity break him down. ²³ But I will break down his foes before his face and smite those that hate him. ²⁴ But my truth and my mercy shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted. ²⁵ In the same manner I will set his hand also in the sea and his right hand in the rivers. ²⁶ He shall call me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my saving health. ²⁷ Also I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth. ²⁸ I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

³⁵ Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. ³⁶ His seed shall endure for ever and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It shall be established for ever as the moon and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

⁴⁹ Lord, where are thy former mercies, which thou didst sware unto David in thy truth?

³⁴ Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

⁷³ ¶ JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me; give me understanding, and I shall learn thy commandments.

⁵ until I find out a place for the LORD, a habitation for the mighty God of Jacob. ⁶ Behold, we heard of her in Ephratah; we found her in the fields of the wood.

¹¹ ¶ The LORD has sworn truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body I will set upon thy throne. ¹² If thy sons will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their sons shall also sit upon thy throne for ever.

² so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom and apply thine heart to intelligence, ³ yea, if thou criest for understanding and givest thy voice unto intelligence, ⁴ if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures, ⁵ then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and intelligence.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. ⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

¹³ ¶ Blessed is the man that has found wisdom and who brings to light intelligence, ¹⁴ for the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver and the fruits thereof more than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than precious stones, and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. ¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour. ¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her, and blessed is every one that retains her.

⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

⁸ ¶ The wisdom of the sane is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

⁷ for as he thinks in his soul, so is he; Eat and drink, he shall say unto thee, but his heart is not with thee.

⁹ So I was great and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem, and more than that, my wisdom remained with me.

¹⁰ The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones; the wild fig trees are cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.

¹⁶ And all Lebanon is not sufficient for the fire, nor all the beasts thereof sufficient for the sacrifice.

³ Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an eternal covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

¹⁷ For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for the stones iron; I will also put peace in the place of thy government, and righteousness in the place of thine oppressors.

¹⁴ Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, I am not a prophet, neither am I a prophet’s son, but I am a herdsman and a gatherer of sycamore fruit:

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

⁷ ¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you; ⁸ for every one that asks receives, and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, behold, I am with you always even unto the end of the age. Amen.

³⁶ And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? ³⁷ They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one at thy right hand and the other at thy left hand in thy glory.

⁵¹ And Jesus, answering, said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And the blind man said unto him, Master, that I might receive my sight.

²³ ¶ And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

⁴ Retaining it, was it not thy own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thy heart? Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

¹⁶ to the one we are the savour of death unto death and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

⁵ Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God,

²⁰ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

⁹ Therefore, God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord in the glory of God the Father.

¹² For the word of God is alive and efficient and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

⁵ And if any of you lacks wisdom, let them ask of God (who gives abundantly to all, and without reproach), and it shall be given them.

¹³ ¶ Who is wise and ready among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works in meekness of wisdom.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, modest, benevolent, full of mercy and of good fruits, not judgmental, unfeigned.

¹⁴ ¶ And this is the confidence that we have in God, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us: ¹⁵ And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have the petitions that we asked of him.
