⁸ Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thy hand.

³ with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt: the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

¹⁶ And the sons of Israel fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hand.

¹⁸ Thus the sons of Israel were humbled at that time, and the sons of Judah prevailed because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.

⁹ ¶ And there came out against them Zerah, the Ethiopian, with a host of a thousand thousand and three hundred chariots and came unto Mareshah. ¹⁰ Then Asa went out against him, and they ordered the battle in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. ¹¹ And Asa cried unto the LORD his God and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many or with those that have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; do not let man prevail against thee. ¹² So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

⁷ ¶ And at that time Hanani, the seer, came to Asa, king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore, the host of the king of Syria has escaped out of thy hands.

⁹ The LORD also will be a refuge to the humble, a refuge for the time of trouble. ¹⁰ And those that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, O LORD, hast not forsaken those that seek thee.

³⁹ Tau But the salvation of the righteous is the LORD; he is their strength in the time of trouble. ⁴⁰ And the LORD helped them and delivers them; he shall deliver them from the wicked and save them because they wait in him.
