³ He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him and saying unto him, Cornelius.

¹⁷ And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken because thou hast found grace in my sight, and I have known thee by name.

¹⁵ Then a spirit passed before me which caused the hair of my flesh to stand up. ¹⁶ A ghost stood in front of me, whose face I did not recognize, and I heard it say,

⁴ For Jacob my slave’s sake and Israel my elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

²⁰ ¶ And whiles I was speaking and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; ²¹ I was even yet speaking in prayer, and that man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, flying swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening sacrifice.

⁴⁶ And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

¹¹ And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

¹⁰ But the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you a gospel of great joy, which shall be to all the people. ¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

⁴⁴ ¶ And when it was about the sixth hour, there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. ⁴⁵ And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. ⁴⁶ Then Jesus cried out with a loud voice and said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit; and having said thus, he gave up the spirit.

¹ ¶ Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

¹⁹ But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors and brought them forth and said,

⁴ and falling to the earth, he heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why dost thou persecute me?

¹⁰ ¶ And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; to whom the Lord said in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

¹⁷ Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men who were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house and stood before the gate

¹⁹ ¶ While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

³⁰ And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing

⁷ And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shone in the prison, and he smote Peter on the side and woke him up, saying, Arise quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. ⁸ And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he said unto him, Cast thy garment about thee and follow me. ⁹ And he went out and followed him and knew not that it was true which was done by the angel, but thought he saw a vision. ¹⁰ When they were past the first and the second guard, they came unto the iron gate that leads unto the city, which opened to them of its own accord, and they went out and passed on through one street, and then the angel departed from him. ¹¹ And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety that the Lord has sent his angel and has delivered me out of the hand of Herod and from all the people of the Jews who waited for me.

²³ For the angel of God stood by me this night, whose I am and whom I serve,

⁴ ¶ being made so much better than the angels, as he has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth in service for the love of those who are the heirs of saving health?
