¹⁸ And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

¹⁹ And he came to Ephesus and left them there, but he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper coasts, came to Ephesus, and finding certain disciples,

¹⁰ And this continued by the space of two years so that all those who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

¹² ¶ For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with carnal wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world and more abundantly towards you.

³ Giving no offense in anything, that the ministry not be blamed, ⁴ But in all things showing ourselves as the ministers of God in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses, ⁵ in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings, ⁶ in chastity, in knowledge, in meekness, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in unfeigned charity, ⁷ in the word of truth, in the power of God through the weapons of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, ⁸ through honour and dishonour, through evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet as men of the truth; ⁹ as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, but, behold, we live; as chastened, but not killed; ¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. ¹¹ ¶ O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged.

⁵ For our gospel did not come unto you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and in full assurance as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. ⁶ ¶ And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit:

¹ ¶ For you yourselves, brethren, know that our entrance unto you was not vain, ² but having suffered before and having been shamefully treated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to announce unto you the gospel of God with much diligence. ³ For our exhortation was not of error nor of uncleanness nor in guile, ⁴ but because we have been approved of God that he might entrust us with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, who tries our hearts. ⁵ For we were never flatterers in the word, as ye know, nor tainted with covetousness, God is witness, ⁶ nor did we seek glory of men neither of you nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome unto you as the apostles of Christ. ⁷ ¶ But we were gentle among you, as a mother feeding and caring for her children, ⁸ loving you so much, that we were willing to give unto you, not only the gospel of God, but even our own souls, because ye are dear unto us. ⁹ For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail, for labouring night and day, not to be a burden unto any of you, we preached among you the gospel of God. ¹⁰ Ye are witnesses, and God also, of how holy and just and irreprehensible our behaviour was among you that believe,

⁷ For you know in what manner you ought to imitate us, for we did not walk disorderly among you, ⁸ neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought, but working with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, ⁹ Not because we did not have authority, but to give you an example that you might imitate us. ¹⁰ ¶ But thou hast fully known my doctrine, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
