¹⁷ ¶ And unto these four young men, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in all letters and science; furthermore Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

⁸ And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all the wise men thereof; and Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one that could interpret them unto Pharaoh. ⁹ ¶ Then the chief butler spoke unto Pharaoh, saying, I remember my sins today; ¹⁰ Pharaoh was angry with his slaves and put me in the prison of the captain of the guard’s house, both me and the prince of the bakers. ¹¹ And we both dreamed a dream in one night; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream. ¹² And there was there with us a young man, a Hebrew, slave to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted our dreams to us; he interpreted to each man according to his dream. ¹³ And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto my office, and him he hanged. ¹⁴ Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon; and they cut his hair and changed his clothes, and he came in unto Pharaoh. ¹⁵ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one that can interpret it; but I have heard say of thee that thou canst hear dreams to interpret them.

⁶ And he said, Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision and will speak unto him in dreams.

¹² behold, I have done according to thy words: behold, I have given thee a wise and understanding heart so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

²⁸ And all Israel heard of that judgment which the king had judged, and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to judge.

²⁹ ¶ And God gave Solomon exceedingly great wisdom and intelligence and magnanimity of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. ³⁰ And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the sons of the east and all the wisdom of the Egyptians. ³¹ For he was wiser than all men, than Ethan, the Ezrahite, and Heman and Chalcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and he was named in all nations round about.

¹⁰ Give me now wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

¹² wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will also give thee riches and wealth and glory such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall any after thee have the like.

⁵ And he persisted in seeking God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and in those days that he sought the LORD, God prospered him.

⁸ Certainly there is a spirit in man, and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding.

⁹⁸ ¶ Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies, for they are eternal unto me. ⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers, for thy testimonies have been my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the elders because I keep thy precepts.

⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and intelligence.

²⁶ For God gives to the man that is good in his sight wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to the one that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

²⁶ For his God teaches him to know how to judge and instructs him.

³ behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

¹⁹ Then the mystery was revealed unto Daniel in a night vision for which Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

²¹ and it is he that changes the times and the opportunities; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom unto the wise and knowledge unto those that know understanding:

²³ Unto thee, O God of my fathers, do I confess and give thee praise that thou hast given me wisdom and might and now hast shown me what we asked of thee, for thou hast shown us the king’s matter.

⁹ Belteshazzar, prince of the wise men, now that I have understood that the spirit of the holy God is in thee, and that no mystery is hidden from thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen and its interpretation. ¹⁰ Thus were the visions of my head in my bed: It seemed that I saw a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height was great.

¹¹ There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom lives the spirit of the holy God; and in the days of thy father light and intelligence and wisdom, like the knowledge of God, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar, thy father, made prince over all the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and fortune-tellers; thus did thy father, the king, ¹² because Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have a more excellent spirit and greater knowledge and understanding interpreting dreams, unraveling questions, and dissolving doubts. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show thee the interpretation.

¹⁴ I have heard of thee, that the spirit of the holy God is in thee and that light and understanding and greater wisdom was found in thee.

¹ ¶ In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream and penned the sum of the matters.

¹ ¶ In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, Daniel, after that vision which had appeared unto me before.

¹ ¶ In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia the Word was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the Word was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the Word, and had intelligence in the vision.

¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

¹⁰ and delivered him out of all his afflictions and gave him grace and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

²² And Moses was taught in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty in his words and deeds.

⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one to profit with. ⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit a word of wisdom; to another, a word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; ⁹ to another, faith by the same Spirit; to another, gifts of healing by the same Spirit; ¹⁰ to another, the operation of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, discerning of spirits; to another, different kinds of tongues; to another, the interpretation of tongues: ¹¹ one and the same Spirit operates all these things, dispersing to each one his own gift as he wills.

⁹ ¶ For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, asking that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,

⁵ And if any of you lacks wisdom, let them ask of God (who gives abundantly to all, and without reproach), and it shall be given them.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning.
