¹ ¶ Who shall believe our report? and upon whom shall the arm of the LORD be manifested? ² With all this he shall grow up before him as a tender sprout and as a root out of a dry ground. There is no outward appearance in him, nor beauty. We shall see him, yet nothing attractive about him that we should desire him. ³ He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. ⁴ ¶ Surely he has borne our sicknesses and suffered our pain: and we considered him stricken, smitten of God, and cast down. ⁵ But he was wounded for our rebellions; he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and by his stripes healing was provided for us. ⁶ All we like sheep have become lost; we have turned each one to his own way; and the LORD transposed in him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he did not open his mouth. ⁸ He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall count his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the rebellion of my people he was smitten. ⁹ And he made his grave with the wicked, and his death with the rich; even though he had never done evil, neither was any deceit in his mouth. ¹⁰ ¶ With all this the LORD chose to bruise him; subjecting him to grief. When he shall have offered his soul for atonement, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall be prospered in his hand. ¹¹ He shall see of the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied. And by his knowledge shall my righteous slave justify many, for he shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil unto the strong because he has poured out his soul unto death, and he was numbered with the rebellious, having born the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

⁵ And the glory of the LORD shall be manifested, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.

⁹ ¶ Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in ages past. Art thou not he who cut off the proud one, and he who smote the dragon?

¹⁰ The LORD has made bare the arm of his holiness before the eyes of all the Gentiles; and all the ends of the earth shall see the saving health of our God.

⁸ The LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no longer give thy wheat to be food for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for which thou hast laboured:

²⁵ ¶ At that time Jesus answered and said, I praise thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and understanding and hast revealed them unto children.

¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.

⁷ The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

¹² But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name,

³⁸ that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who shall believe our report? and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

¹⁶ ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of the Christ; for it is the power of God to give saving health to every one that believes: to the Jew first and also to the Greek. ¹⁷ For in him is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, The just shall live by faith. ¹⁸ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and injustice of men, who hold back the truth with injustice;

¹⁶ But not everyone hearkens unto the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our report? ¹⁷ So then faith comes by hearing, and the ear to hear by the word of God.

¹⁸ For the word of the cross {Gr. stauros – stake} is foolishness to those that perish, but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God.

²⁴ but unto those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

¹⁸ illuminating the eyes of your understanding, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints ¹⁹ and what is the exceeding greatness of his power in us who believe, by the operation of the power of his strength,

¹ ¶ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

¹⁴ As many rejected thee, in such manner was his likeness and his beauty, disfigured from the sons of men:

⁵ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper and shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

²² ¶ Thus hath the Lord GOD said: I will also take of the highest branch of that high cedar and will set it up; I will crop off from the principal branch a shoot and will plant it upon the high and sublime mountain: ²³ in the high mountain of Israel I will plant it, and it shall bring forth boughs and bear fruit and become a magnificent cedar; and under it shall dwell every fowl; everything that flies shall dwell in the shadow of its branches. ²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish; I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

¹² and speak unto him, saying, Thus spoke the LORD of the hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD.

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses and of Juda and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

¹² And he answered and told them, Elijah verily shall come first and restore all things and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be esteemed as nothing.

⁷ And she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.

³⁹ And when they had completed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee to their own city Nazareth. ⁴⁰ And the child grew and was comforted of the Spirit, filled with wisdom and the grace of God was upon him.

⁵¹ And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was subject unto them, but his mother kept all these things in her heart. ⁵² And Jesus increased in wisdom and in age and in grace with God and men.

⁵⁸ And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of man has not where to lay his head.

¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. ¹¹ He came unto his own, and his own received him not. ¹² But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name, ¹³ who are not born of blood, nor of the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. ¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

²⁸ Then they reviled him and said, Be thou his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. ²⁹ We know that God spoke unto Moses; as for this fellow, we do not know where he is from.

⁴⁰ Then they all cried again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

⁵ Then Jesus came forth, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said unto them, Behold the man!

¹⁴ And it was the preparation of the passover and about the sixth hour; then he said unto the Jews, Behold your King! ¹⁵ But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate said unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The high priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

³ For that which was impossible to the law, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh

⁶ who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, ⁷ but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, made in the likeness of men,

¹⁴ and unto governors as unto those that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those that do well.

¹⁵ ¶ But Jeshurun (the upright one) waxed fat and kicked; (thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou hast covered thyself) and forsook the God who made him and lightly esteemed the strong One of his saving health.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men and despised of the people. ⁷ All those that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ⁸ Turn him over to the LORD, let him deliver him, let him save him, seeing he delighted in him.

¹⁰ When I wept with fasting of my soul, thou hast been a reproach unto me. ¹¹ I made sackcloth also my garment, and I became a proverb to them. ¹² They that sat in the gate spoke against me, and I was the song of the drunkards.

¹⁹ Thou hast known my reproach and my shame and my dishonour; my adversaries are all before thee. ²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness, and I looked for some to take pity, but there was no one, and for comforters, but I found none.

²⁹ But I am poor and sorrowful; let thy saving health, O God, set me up on high.

⁷ ¶ Thus has the LORD said, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the Gentiles abhor, to the slave of the tyrants, Kings shall see and be raised up as princes and shall worship because of the LORD, for faithful is the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen thee.

⁶ I gave my back to the smiters and my cheeks to those that plucked off the hair: I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.

⁴ ¶ Surely he has borne our sicknesses and suffered our pain: and we considered him stricken, smitten of God, and cast down.

¹⁰ ¶ With all this the LORD chose to bruise him; subjecting him to grief. When he shall have offered his soul for atonement, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall be prospered in his hand.

¹ ¶ Now thou shalt be besieged by armies, O daughter of the army: he shall lay siege against us; they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

⁸ I also cut off three shepherds in one month; and my soul was in anguish for them, and their soul also abhorred me.

¹² And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my wages; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver. ¹³ And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the treasury: a goodly price that I was appraised at by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver and cast them in the house of the LORD unto the treasury.

³⁷ And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and very heavy. ³⁸ Then he said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death; tarry ye here and watch with me.

⁶⁷ Then they spit in his face and buffeted him, and others smote him with the staves,

⁹ Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the sons of Israel did value, ¹⁰ and gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.

³⁹ And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, Thou that wouldst destroy the temple and build it in three days, save thyself. If thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}. ⁴¹ Likewise also the princes of the priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² He saved others; he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}, and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him, for he said, I am the Son of God. ⁴⁴ The thieves also, who were crucified with him, reproached him with the same.

⁶³ saying, Lord, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

³⁴ and said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death; tarry ye here, and watch.

¹⁹ And they smote him on the head with a reed and spit upon him and bowing their knees worshipped him.

⁵³ And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

²² saying, The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the princes of the priests and scribes and be slain and be raised the third day.

¹⁴ And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things, and they derided him.

³¹ ¶ Then he took unto him the twelve and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. ³² For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles and shall be mocked and spitefully treated and spitted on; ³³ and they shall scourge him and put him to death, but the third day he shall rise again.

⁴¹ ¶ And when he was come near, he beheld the city and wept over it,

¹⁸ And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas ¹⁹ (who for a certain sedition made in the city and for murder was cast into prison). ²⁰ Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them. ²¹ But they cried, saying, crucify him, crucify him. {Gr. stauroo – hang him on a stake} ²² And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil has he done? I have found no cause of death in him; I will therefore chastise him and let him go. ²³ And they insisted with loud voices, asking that he be crucified. And the voices of them and of the princes of the priests prevailed. ²⁴ And Pilate gave sentence that it should be according to their request. ²⁵ And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder had been cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. ¹¹ He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered, and said unto him, Do we not say well that thou art a Samaritan and hast a demon?

³⁵ Jesus wept.

¹³ The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus, whom ye delivered up and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he had judged to let him go. ¹⁴ But ye denied the Holy One and the Just and desired a murderer to be granted unto you ¹⁵ and killed the Author of life, whom God has raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

¹⁵ and deliver those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to slavery. ¹⁶ For verily he did not take the angels, but he took the seed of Abraham. ¹⁷ Therefore in all things he should be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people. ¹⁸ For in that he himself has suffered and was tempted, he is also powerful to help those that are tempted.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, was heard because of his reverent fear;

² with our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who having been offered joy, endured the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}, despising the shame and was seated at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself lest ye be wearied in your souls and faint.

²⁶ For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten, and they boast that thou hast slain their enemies.

¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, (for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree),

²⁸ so also the Christ is offered once to take away the sins of many; and unto those that wait for him without sin he shall appear the second time unto saving health.

²⁴ he himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose wound ye were healed.

¹⁸ ¶ For the Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in spirit,

² and he is the reconciliation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁵ and I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed; that seed shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined {Heb. Cut} upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the prevarication and to conclude the sin and to make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and seal the vision and the prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies.

⁷ ¶ Awake, O sword, upon the pastor and upon the man that is my fellow, said the LORD of the hosts; smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered; and I will turn my hand upon the little ones.

²⁸ even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many.

²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Jesus, the Christ, ²⁵ whom God purposed for reconciliation through faith in his blood for the manifestation of his righteousness, for the remission of sins that are past, by the patience of God, ²⁶ manifesting in this time his righteousness that he only be the just one and the justifier of him that is of the faith of Jesus.

²⁵ who was delivered for our offenses and was raised again for our justification.

⁶ ¶ For the Christ, when we were yet weak, in his time died for the ungodly. ⁷ For scarcely for a righteous man will one die, yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. ⁸ But God increased the price of his charity toward us in that while we were yet sinners the Christ died for us. ⁹ Then much more now justified in his blood, we shall be saved from wrath by him. ¹⁰ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled with God by the death of his Son, much more, now reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

¹⁵ But not as the offense, so also is the gift. For if through the offense of that one many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of one man, Jesus the Christ, has abounded unto many. ¹⁶ Nor was it in the same manner as by one sin, likewise also the gift; for the judgment truly came of one sin unto condemnation, but grace came of many offenses unto justification. ¹⁷ For if by one offense, death reigned because of one man; much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of gifts and of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus the Christ. ¹⁸ Therefore, in the same manner that by the iniquity of one guilt came upon all men unto condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one, grace came upon all men unto justification of life. ¹⁹ For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. ²⁰ Moreover the law entered that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound, ²¹ so that in the same manner as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus, the Christ, our Lord.

³ For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received: how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures

²¹ For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

² and walk in charity even as the Christ also has loved us and has given himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

¹² neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the sanctuary designed for eternal redemption. ¹³ For if the blood of bulls and of goats and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctified to the purifying of the flesh, ¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of the Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from the works of death to serve the living God? ¹⁵ ¶ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, so that death intervening for the redemption of the rebellions that took place under the first testament, those who are called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

¹⁰ In this will, we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus, the Christ, once for all.

¹⁴ For by one offering he has perfected for ever those that are sanctified.

²⁴ he himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose wound ye were healed. ²⁵ For ye were as sheep that had gone astray, but are now converted unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

⁴ Those that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; those that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty; then I restored that which I did not take away.

¹⁷⁶ ¶ I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy slave; for I have not forgotten thy commandments.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

¹¹ And these anxious dogs are insatiable, and even the shepherds did not know enough to understand: they all look to their own ways, each one for his gain, from his quarter.

¹⁸ When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die and thou dost not give him warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, that he might live, the same wicked man shall die for his iniquity; but his blood I will require at thine hand.

¹² What do you think? If a man had a hundred sheep and one of them went astray, would he not leave the ninety-nine and go into the mountains and seek that which is gone astray? ¹³ And if so be that he finds it, verily I say unto you, he rejoices more of that one than of the ninety-nine who did not go astray. ¹⁴ Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in the heavens that one of these little ones should perish.

³ And he spoke this parable unto them, saying, ⁴ What man of you having a hundred sheep if he lose one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after that which is lost until he finds it? ⁵ And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost. ⁷ I say unto you that likewise there shall be more joy in heaven over one sinner that repents than over ninety-nine just persons, who need no repentance.

¹⁰ as it is written, There is no one righteous, no, not one; ¹¹ there is no one that understands; there is no one that seeks after God. ¹² They are all gone out of the way; they are together become unprofitable; there is no one that does good, no, not one. ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, ¹⁴ whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; ¹⁵ their feet are swift to shed blood; ¹⁶ destruction and misery are in their ways, ¹⁷ and the way of peace they have not known; ¹⁸ there is no fear of God before their eyes. ¹⁹ ¶ Now we know that all that the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may submit themselves unto God.

²⁰ let that one know, that whosoever causes the sinner to convert from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.

²⁵ For ye were as sheep that had gone astray, but are now converted unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

⁶³ But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God.

¹² And being accused by the princes of the priests and the elders, he answered nothing. ¹³ Then Pilate said unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? ¹⁴ And he did not answer him even a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

⁶¹ But he was silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

⁵ But Jesus yet answered nothing, so that Pilate marvelled.

⁹ Then he questioned with him in many words, but he answered him nothing.

⁹ and went again into the judgment hall and said unto Jesus, Where art thou from? But Jesus gave him no answer.

³² The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth; ³³ in his humiliation his judgment was taken away, and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

²³ who, when he was cursed, did not return the curse; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously;

¹² Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round about. ¹³ They opened their mouth upon me as a ravening and a roaring lion. ¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. ¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. ¹⁷ I may count all my bones: they look and stare upon me. ¹⁸ They part my garments among them and cast lots upon my vesture. ¹⁹ But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me. ²⁰ Deliver my soul from the sword; my life from the power of the dog. ²¹ Save me from the lion’s mouth and from the horns of the unicorns.

¹² They that sat in the gate spoke against me, and I was the song of the drunkards.

⁵ But he was wounded for our rebellions; he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and by his stripes healing was provided for us.

¹² Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil unto the strong because he has poured out his soul unto death, and he was numbered with the rebellious, having born the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁶ And after the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One {Heb. Messiah} shall be killed and shall have nothing: (and the ruling people that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; whose end shall be as a flood, until at the end of the war it shall be cut off with desolation).

¹ ¶ The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.

⁶⁵ Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He has spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. ⁶⁶ What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

⁴⁹ And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all ⁵⁰ nor consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation be lost. ⁵¹ And this he spoke not of himself; but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation; ⁵² and not for that nation only, but that he should also gather together in one the sons of God that were scattered abroad.

³³ in his humiliation his judgment was taken away, and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

⁴ who was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of sanctification, by the resurrection from the dead), of Jesus, the Christ, our Lord.

¹ ¶ Behold my slave, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he shall give judgment unto the Gentiles. ² He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the streets. ³ He shall not break a bruised reed, nor shall he quench the smoking flax; he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

⁵⁷ ¶ When the evening was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also had been a disciple of Jesus; ⁵⁸ he went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. ⁵⁹ And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth ⁶⁰ and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock, and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre and departed.

⁴³ Joseph of Arimathaea, a noble senator, who also waited for the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly unto Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ⁴⁴ And Pilate marvelled that he was already dead; and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he was already dead. ⁴⁵ And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. ⁴⁶ And he bought fine linen and took him down and wrapped him in the linen and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

⁵⁰ ¶ And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a senator; and he was a good man and just ⁵¹ (the same had not consented in the counsel nor in their deeds); he was of Arimathaea, a city of Judea, who also himself waited for the kingdom of God. ⁵² This man went unto Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ⁵³ And he took it down and wrapped it in linen and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, where no one had ever been placed.

³⁸ ¶ After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore and took the body of Jesus. ³⁹ Then Nicodemus came also, who at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about one hundred pounds. ⁴⁰ And they took the body of Jesus and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as is the manner of the Jews to bury. ⁴¹ Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulchre, in which no one had yet been laid. ⁴² Therefore they laid Jesus there because of the Jews’ preparation day, for the sepulchre was near.

⁴ and that he was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures

²⁶ For it was expedient that we have such a high priest, who is holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens,

²² who did no sin neither was guile found in his mouth,

⁵ And ye know that he appeared to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.

⁹ Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: my flesh also shall rest secure. ¹⁰ For thou wilt not leave my soul in Sheol; neither wilt thou suffer thy Merciful One to see corruption. ¹¹ Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

⁴ He asked life of thee, and thou didst give him length of days for ever and ever.

³⁰ A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

¹⁶ Instead of thy fathers shall be thy sons, whom thou shalt make princes in all the earth. ¹⁷ I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the people praise thee eternally and for ever.

⁷ In his days shall righteousness flourish and abundance of peace until there is no longer any moon.

¹⁷ His name shall endure for ever; before the sun his name shall be disseminated, and all Gentiles shall be blessed in him; they shall call him blessed.

¹⁰ Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. ¹¹ Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from the heavens. ¹² The LORD shall give that which is good, and our land shall bring forth her fruit.

²⁹ I will also make his seed to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of the heavens.

³⁶ His seed shall endure for ever and his throne as the sun before me.

³ Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauty of holiness; as the dew which falls from the womb of the morning, thus shall those who are thine be born unto thee.

¹¹ The LORD takes pleasure in those that fear him, in those that wait upon his mercy.

⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he will beautify the humble with saving health.

⁷ The multitude of his dominion and the peace shall have no end upon the throne of David and upon his Kingdom, ordering it and confirming it in judgment and in righteousness from now on even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of the hosts will perform this.

¹ ¶ Behold my slave, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he shall give judgment unto the Gentiles.

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

³ He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. ⁴ ¶ Surely he has borne our sicknesses and suffered our pain: and we considered him stricken, smitten of God, and cast down.

¹¹ So shall my Word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall be prospered in that for which I sent it. ¹² For ye shall go out with joy, and be returned with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. ¹³ Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an eternal sign that shall not be cut off.

³ Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. ⁴ Thou shalt no longer be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any longer be termed Desolate; but thou shalt be called Hephzibah {Heb. my will in her} and thy land Beulah; {Heb. married}; for the will of the LORD shall be in thee, and thy land shall be married. ⁵ For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee; and as the bridegroom rejoices with the bride, so shall thy God rejoice with thee.

⁴¹ And, I will rejoice with them doing them good, and I will plant them in this land with truth, with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

¹¹ Say unto them, As I live, said the Lord GOD, I do not desire the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from his way and that he live; turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

²⁵ And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my slave, in which your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they and their sons and their son’s sons for ever; and my slave David shall be their prince for ever.

¹³ I saw in the vision of the night, and, behold, in the clouds of heaven like a Son of man that came and drew near unto the Elder of great age, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ And he gave him dominion and glory and kingdom; and all the peoples, nations, and tongues served him: his dominion is an eternal dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom such that it shall never be corrupted.

¹⁸ Who is a God like unto thee that pardons iniquity, and passes over the rebellion with the remnant of his heritage? He did not retain his anger for ever because he delights in mercy.

¹⁷ The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save; he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love; he will joy over thee with singing.

¹⁷ and, behold, a voice from the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁵ While he yet spoke, behold, a cloud of light overshadowed them, and, behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

³³ and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

²³ and bring here the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; ²⁴ for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry.

³⁷ All that the Father gives me shall come to me, and he that comes to me I will in no wise cast out. ³⁸ For I came down from the heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the Father’s will who has sent me, that of all whom he has given me I should lose nothing but should raise it up again in the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, That every one who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone; but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit.

²⁴ whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death because it was not possible for him to be held by it. ²⁵ For David speaks concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved, ²⁶ therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover even my flesh shall rest in hope ²⁷ because thou wilt not leave my soul in Hades, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. ²⁸ Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

⁹ knowing that the Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more; death has no more dominion over him.

⁸ So then, those that are carnal cannot please God.

³² He that did not spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also give us all things with him?

⁵ having marked out beforehand the way for us to be adopted as sons by Jesus Christ in himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

⁹ having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself,

¹¹ ¶ Therefore in this manner we pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of his calling and fill each will with goodness and the work of faith with power

¹³ And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God has given me.

²⁷ who needs not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins and then for the people’s; for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of the Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from the works of death to serve the living God?

²⁵ nor yet that he should offer himself many times (as the high priest enters into the sanctuary each year with blood that is not his own); ²⁶ otherwise it would have been necessary for him to suffer many times since the foundation of the world; but now once in the consummation of the ages he has appeared to abolish sin by the sacrifice of himself.

⁶ in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. ⁷ ¶ Then said I, Behold, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will, O God. ⁸ Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou dost not desire, neither hadst pleasure therein, which are offered by the law; ⁹ then he said, Behold, I come to do thy will, O God. He took away the first, that he may establish the second. ¹⁰ In this will, we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus, the Christ, once for all. ¹¹ And so every priest stands daily ministering and offering many times the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins, ¹² but this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, is seated at the right hand of God,

¹⁰ We have an altar, of which those who serve the tabernacle have no faculty to eat. ¹¹ For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. ¹² Therefore, Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.

⁹ In this was the charity of God demonstrated in us, in that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this does the charity consist, not because we had loved God, but because he loved us and has sent his Son to be the reconciliation for our sins.

¹⁸ and he that lives and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen, and have the keys of Hades and of death.

²⁵ In the LORD shall all the generation of Israel be justified and shall glory.

³ And he said unto me, Thou art my slave, O Israel; in thee I will glory.

⁸ He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall count his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the rebellion of my people he was smitten.

⁴⁴ And being in agony, he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

¹⁴ I AM the good shepherd, and know my sheep and am known of mine. ¹⁵ As the Father knows me, even so I know the Father, and I lay down my soul for the sheep. ¹⁶ And I have other sheep which are not of this fold; it is expedient that I bring them also, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd. ¹⁷ Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my soul that I might take it again. ¹⁸ No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have received of my Father.

²⁷ ¶ Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour, but for this have I come in this hour. ²⁸ Father, clarify thy name. Then there came a voice from the heaven, saying, I have clarified it and will clarify it again. ²⁹ The people, therefore, that were present and heard it, said that it thundered; others said, An angel spoke to him. ³⁰ Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. ³¹ Now is the judgment of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out. ³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

²¹ The woman, when she is in travail, has pain, because her hour is come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers the anguish no more, for joy that a man is born into the world.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

²² the righteousness, that is, of God by the faith of Jesus, the Christ, for all and upon all those that believe in him, for there is no difference; ²³ for all have sinned and are made destitute of the glory of God, ²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Jesus, the Christ,

²⁴ but for us also to whom it shall be so reckoned, that is, to those that believe in him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead,

⁹ Then much more now justified in his blood, we shall be saved from wrath by him.

¹⁸ Therefore, in the same manner that by the iniquity of one guilt came upon all men unto condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one, grace came upon all men unto justification of life. ¹⁹ For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

¹¹ And such were some of you, but now ye are washed, but now ye are sanctified, but now ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.

⁶ For the God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to bring forth the light of the knowledge of the clarity of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ ¶ My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ is formed in you,

⁸ And doubtless I even count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ ⁹ ¶ and be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: ¹⁰ That I may know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death,

⁶ which he poured out abundantly in us through Jesus, the Christ, our Saviour; ⁷ that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

² with our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who having been offered joy, endured the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}, despising the shame and was seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

² Grace and peace be multiplied unto you in the knowledge of God and of our Lord Jesus, ³ as all things that pertain to life and to godliness are given us of his divine power, through the knowledge of him that has called us by his glory and virtue,

¹⁸ But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and until the day of eternity. Amen.

¹ ¶ My little children, I write these things unto you, that ye sin not; and if anyone has sinned, we have an Advocate before the Father, Jesus, the righteous Christ;

¹ ¶ The elder unto the chosen lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all those that have known the truth,

³ Grace be with you, mercy and peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and charity.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and hast redeemed us unto God by thy blood, out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation ¹⁰ and hast made us unto our God kings and priests, and we shall reign on the earth.

⁹ After this I saw, and, behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations and kindreds and peoples and tongues stood before the throne and before the Lamb clothed with long white robes and palms in their hands ¹⁰ and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation unto him who is seated upon the throne of our God and unto the Lamb. ¹¹ And all the angels stood round about the throne and about the elders and the four animals; and they fell upon their faces before the throne and worshipped God, ¹² saying, Amen: The blessing and the glory and the wisdom and the thanksgiving and the honour and the power and the might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. ¹³ ¶ And one of the elders responded and asked me, Who are these who are arrayed in long white robes? and where did they come from? ¹⁴ And I said unto him, lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are those who came out of great tribulation and have washed their long robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple, and he that is seated on the throne shall dwell among them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more neither thirst anymore; neither shall the sun be thrust upon them nor any other heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall govern them and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

⁸ Ask of me, and I shall give thee the Gentiles for thine inheritance and unto the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

²⁴ ¶ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? ²⁵ But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contends with thee, and I will save thy sons.

¹³ ¶ Behold, my slave shall be prospered; he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

¹⁵ But he shall sprinkle many Gentiles; the kings shall shut their mouths over him: for that which had not been told them they shall see; and that which they had not heard they shall understand.

⁶ All we like sheep have become lost; we have turned each one to his own way; and the LORD transposed in him the iniquity of us all.

¹⁰ ¶ With all this the LORD chose to bruise him; subjecting him to grief. When he shall have offered his soul for atonement, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall be prospered in his hand. ¹¹ He shall see of the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied. And by his knowledge shall my righteous slave justify many, for he shall bear their iniquities.

⁴⁵ In the manner which thou didst see that out of the mountain was cut one stone, not with hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God has shown the king what shall come to pass hereafter; and the dream is true, and its interpretation sure.

²⁸ But if I cast out the demons by the Spirit of God, then certainly the kingdom of God is come unto you. ²⁹ Or else how can one enter into the strong man’s house and spoil his goods except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

³⁸ Then he said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death; tarry ye here and watch with me. ³⁹ And he went a little further and fell on his face, praying and saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

⁴² He went away again the second time and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me except I drink it, thy will be done.

²⁷ And with him they crucified two thieves: the one on his right hand and the other on his left.

³⁷ For I say unto you that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors; for the things written concerning me have a fulfillment.

²⁵ And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder had been cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

³² ¶ And there were also two others, malefactors, led with him to be put to death. ³³ And when they were come to the place, which is called of the Skull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. ³⁴ Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment and cast lots.

¹⁸ to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and inheritance among those who are sanctified by the faith that is in me.

³⁴ Who is he that condemns them? Christ, Jesus, is he who died and, even more, he that also rose again, who furthermore is at the right hand of God, who also makes entreaty for us.

⁸ and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}. ⁹ Therefore, God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord in the glory of God the Father.

¹⁷ And even if I am poured out as an offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy and rejoice with you all.

¹³ who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son, ¹⁴ in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the remission of sins,

¹⁵ and having spoiled the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

⁵ For there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, ⁶ who gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time,

¹⁴ who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a people of his own, zealous of good works.

¹⁴ ¶ Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the empire of death, that is, the devil, ¹⁵ and deliver those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to slavery.

²⁵ Therefore he is able also to save to the uttermost those that come unto God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.

²⁴ For Christ is not entered into the sanctuary made with hands (which is a figure of the true), but into the heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us,

²⁶ otherwise it would have been necessary for him to suffer many times since the foundation of the world; but now once in the consummation of the ages he has appeared to abolish sin by the sacrifice of himself.

¹² ¶ I write unto you, little children, that your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
