⁴ And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them; and they shall fear no more nor be dismayed neither shall they be lacking, said the LORD.

⁴⁹ and they said unto Moses, Thy slaves have taken the sum of the men of war who are under our charge and not one man of us is missing.

⁷⁰ He chose David also his slave and took him from the sheepfolds, ⁷¹ from following the ewes great with young, he brought him to feed Jacob his people and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² So he fed them out of the integrity of his heart and guided them by the intelligence of his hands.

¹¹ And it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall return to set his hand again to possess the remnant of his people which were left from Assyria and from Egypt and from Pathros and from Cush and from Elam and from Shinar and from Hamath and from the islands of the sea.

¹⁴ Turn, O rebellious sons, said the LORD; for I am your Lord, and I will take you one of a city and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: ¹⁵ And I will give you pastors according to my heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

¹⁰ ¶ Therefore fear thou not, O my slave Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I am he that saves thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall turn, and shall rest, and be quiet, and there shall be no one left to scatter him.

¹⁰ ¶ Hear the word of the LORD, O ye Gentiles, and cause it to be known in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock.

²⁶ then I will cast away the seed of Jacob and David my slave, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob; for I will cause their captivity to turn, and I will have mercy on them.

²⁷ But fear not thou, O my slave Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return and be in rest and be prospered, and no one shall make him afraid. ²⁸ Fear thou not, O Jacob my slave, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the Gentiles where I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but I will chastise thee with judgment; and I will not completely cut thee off.

²³ And I will raise up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my slave David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. ²⁴ And I the LORD will be their God, and my slave David prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it. ²⁵ And I will establish with them a covenant of peace and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods. ²⁶ And I will give unto them and to the places round about my hill blessing, and I will cause the rain to come down in its season; they shall be rains of blessing. ²⁷ And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her fruit, and they shall be safe in their land and shall know that I am the LORD when I have broken the bands of their yoke and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. ²⁸ And they shall no longer be a prey to the Gentiles, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and no one shall make them afraid. ²⁹ And I will raise up for them a plant by name, and they shall no longer be consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the Gentiles any longer. ³⁰ Thus shall they know that I the LORD their God am with them and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, said the Lord GOD. ³¹ And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, said the Lord GOD.

³ and I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee. ⁴ For the sons of Israel shall abide many days without king and without Lord and without sacrifice and without image, and without ephod and without teraphim; ⁵ afterward the sons of Israel shall return, and they shall seek the LORD their God and David their king; and they shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the end of the days.

² But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be Lord in Israel; and his goings forth are from the beginning, from the days of the ages.

⁴ And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide; for now he shall be great unto the ends of the earth. ⁵ And he shall be our peace when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then we shall raise against him seven shepherds and eight principal men.

¹⁴ ¶ Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell only in the mountain, in the midst of Carmel; let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the time of old.

³⁹ And this is the Father’s will who has sent me, that of all whom he has given me I should lose nothing but should raise it up again in the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, That every one who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; ²⁸ and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. ³⁰ I and my Father are one.

¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name; those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.

⁹ that the word might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Of those whom thou gavest me I have lost none.

¹⁵ ¶ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He said unto him, Yes, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my lambs. ¹⁶ He said to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He said unto him, Yes, Lord thou knowest that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

²⁸ Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has placed you as bishops to feed the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God, which he has purchased with his own blood. ²⁹ For I know this, that after my departing, grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

⁵ who are kept in the virtue of God by faith, to attain unto the saving health which is made ready to be manifested in the last time.

¹ ¶ The elders who are among you I exhort (I am also an elder with them and a witness of the afflictions of the Christ, and also a participant of the glory that shall be revealed). ² Feed the flock of God which is among you, caring for her, not by force, but willingly; not for shameful lucre, but with willing desire; ³ and not as having lordship over the heritage of the Lord, but in such a manner as to be examples of the flock. ⁴ And when the great Prince of the pastors shall appear, ye shall receive the incorruptible crown of glory.
