¹⁴ But cursed be the deceiver, who has in his flock a male and vows and sacrifices unto the Lord a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of the hosts, and my name is formidable among the Gentiles.

² For with the judgment with which ye judge, ye shall be judged, and with the measure with which ye measure, ye shall be measured again.

⁴² Jesus said unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

¹⁶ then let those who are in Judaea flee into the mountains; ¹⁷ let him who is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house, ¹⁸ neither let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes.

⁵⁵ In that same hour Jesus said to the multitude, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

⁷ Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who taught you to flee from the wrath to come?

²⁰ But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast stored up? ²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself and is not rich in God.

²¹ Has not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour and another unto dishonour? ²² What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much meekness the vessels of wrath, prepared for death,

³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

⁴ opposing and exalting himself against all that is called God, or divinity, so that he as God sits in the temple of God, making himself appear to be God.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they not be highminded, not placing their hope in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

²⁰ But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay, and likewise some to honour, and some to dishonour. ²¹ If a man, therefore, purges himself from these things, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and profitable for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us,

⁶ But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

² Your riches are rotten, and your garments are motheaten. ³ Your gold and silver is corrupted with rust; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you and shall completely eat your flesh, as fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. ⁴ Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped your fields (which you have kept back by fraud) cries out; and the cries of those who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of the hosts.

³ ¶ and in covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words, upon whom the condemnation from a long time ago does not delay, and their perdition does not sleep.

²⁷ and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter they shall be broken to shivers, even as I received of my Father.
