¹ ¶ Then Joshua called the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh ² and said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the slave of the LORD commanded you and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you. ³ Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God. ⁴ And now the LORD your God has given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them; therefore now return and go to your tents and unto the land of your possessions which Moses the slave of the LORD gave you on the other side of the Jordan. ⁵ Only that with diligence ye keep yourselves doing the commandment and the law, which Moses, the slave of the LORD, charged you: to love the LORD your God and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cleave unto him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. ⁶ So Joshua, blessing them, sent them; and they went unto their tents. ⁷ Now to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh, Moses had given possession in Bashan; but unto the other half Joshua gave inheritance among their brethren on this side of the Jordan to the west. And Joshua also sent these to their tents, after having blessed them, ⁸ And he spoke unto them, saying, Return with great riches unto your tents and with a great amount of cattle with silver, with gold, with brass, with iron, and with very much clothing; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren. ⁹ And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, departing from the sons of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, of which they were the possessors, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses. ¹⁰ ¶ And when they came unto the borders of the Jordan, which is in the land of Canaan, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built an altar there next to the Jordan, a great altar to look upon. ¹¹ And the sons of Israel heard it said, Behold, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of the Jordan, at the passage of the sons of Israel. ¹² And when the sons of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the sons of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them. ¹³ And the sons of Israel sent unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, ¹⁴ and with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was the head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel. ¹⁵ And they came unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half tribe of Manasseh unto the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying, ¹⁶ Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD in that ye have built an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD? ¹⁷ Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, for which there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD? ¹⁸ And ye turn away this day from following the LORD; and it will be, seeing ye rebel today against the LORD, that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel. ¹⁹ If the land of your possession seems unto you to be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, in which the LORD’s tabernacle dwells and take possession among us; but do not rebel against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building yourselves an altar in addition to the altar of the LORD our God. ²⁰ Peradventure did Achan, the son of Zerah, not commit a trespass in the anathema, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? And that man did not perish alone in his iniquity. ²¹ ¶ Then the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel, ²² The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knows and let Israel also know; if it is in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD (save us not this day) ²³ that we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD or if to offer thereon burnt offering or present or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it; ²⁴ likewise, if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, Peradventure tomorrow your children shall speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel? ²⁵ The LORD has put the Jordan for a border between us and you, O sons of Reuben and sons of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD, so shall your sons make our sons cease from fearing the LORD. ²⁶ Therefore we said, Let us now work to build us an altar, not for burnt offering nor for sacrifice, ²⁷ but that it may be a witness between us and you and our generations after us, to do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD. ²⁸ Therefore we said, that it shall be, if they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may reply, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings nor for sacrifices, but it is a witness between us and you. ²⁹ Let it never happen that we should rebel against the LORD or that we should turn today from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for presents, or for sacrifices, in addition to the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle. ³⁰ ¶ And when Phinehas the priest and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel who were with him, heard the words that the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the sons of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them. ³¹ And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, said unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us because ye have not intended to trespass against the LORD. Now ye have delivered the sons of Israel from the wrath of the LORD. ³² And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the sons of Reuben and from the sons of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the sons of Israel and brought them word again. ³³ And the thing pleased the sons of Israel; and the sons of Israel blessed God and did not speak again of going up against them in battle to destroy the land in which the sons of Reuben and Gad dwelt. ³⁴ And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad called the altar Ed; for it is a witness between us that the LORD is God.

¹⁸ We will not return unto our houses until the sons of Israel have inherited each man his inheritance. ¹⁹ For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan or forward because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of Jordan eastward. ²⁰ Then Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will prepare yourselves to go before the LORD to the war ²¹ and will all pass the Jordan armed before the LORD until he has driven out his enemies from before him ²² and the land is subdued before the LORD, then afterward ye shall return and be guiltless before the LORD and before Israel, and this land shall be your possession before the LORD. ²³ But if ye will not do so, behold, ye shall have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will catch up with you. ²⁴ Build cities for your little ones and folds for your sheep and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth. ²⁵ And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben spoke unto Moses, saying, Thy slaves will do as my lord commands. ²⁶ Our little ones, our wives, our livestock, and all our beasts, shall be there in the cities of Gilead; ²⁷ but thy slaves, each one armed for war, will pass before the LORD to battle, as our lord saith. ²⁸ ¶ So concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar, the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the princes of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel. ²⁹ And Moses said unto them, If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben will pass the Jordan with you, each one armed to battle, before the LORD, after the land shall be subdued before you, then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession. ³⁰ But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan. ³¹ And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD has said unto thy slaves, so will we do. ³² We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance on this side of the Jordan shall be ours. ³³ Thus Moses gave unto the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and unto half the tribe of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with its cities and borders, even the cities of the country round about.

⁷ And when ye came unto this place, Sihon, the king of Heshbon, and Og, the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them; ⁸ and we took their land and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

¹⁶ And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon, half the valley for a border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the sons of Ammon, ¹⁷ the plain also and the Jordan and the border thereof from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward. ¹⁸ And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God has given you this land to possess it; ye shall pass armed before your brethren, the sons of Israel, all that are valiant. ¹⁹ Only your wives and your little ones and your livestock (for I know that ye have much livestock) shall abide in your cities which I have given you ²⁰ until the LORD has given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also inherit the land which the LORD your God has given them beyond the Jordan; then shall ye return each man unto his possession, which I have given you.

¹² Also to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to half the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua spoke, saying, ¹³ Remember the word which Moses, the slave of the LORD, commanded you, saying, The LORD your God has given you rest and has given you this land. ¹⁴ Your wives, your little ones, and your beasts shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan; but ye, all the mighty men of valour, shall pass before your brethren armed and help them ¹⁵ until the LORD has given your brethren rest, as he has given you and they also inherit the land which the LORD your God gives them; then ye shall return unto the land of your inheritance and inherit it, which Moses the LORD’s slave has given you on this side of the Jordan toward the sunrising. ¹⁶ ¶ Then they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and wherever thou dost send us, we will go. ¹⁷ According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee; only let the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses. ¹⁸ Whoever rebels against thy commandment and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou doest command him, let him die; only be strong and of a good courage.

²³ For I am in a strait between the two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better: ²⁴ nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. ²⁵ And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith, ²⁶ that your glorying in Jesus Christ may be more abundant by my coming to you again. ²⁷ ¶ Only let your conversation be as is worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, unanimous, working together for the faith of the gospel,

³³ Thus Moses gave unto the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and unto half the tribe of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with its cities and borders, even the cities of the country round about. ³⁴ And the sons of Gad built Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer ³⁵ and Atroth-shophan and Jaazer and Jogbehah ³⁶ and Bethnimrah and Bethharan, fenced cities, and also folds for sheep. ³⁷ And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon and Elealeh and Kirjathaim ³⁸ and Nebo and Baalmeon (their names being changed) and Shibmah and gave other names unto the cities which they built. ³⁹ And the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, went to Gilead and took it and dispossessed the Amorite who was in it. ⁴⁰ And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir, the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein. ⁴¹ Jair, the son of Manasseh also went and took the small towns thereof and called them Havothjair. ⁴² Likewise Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages and called it Nobah, after his own name.

¹ ¶ Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan; and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. ² And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into thy hand, and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon, king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon. ³ So the LORD our God delivered into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people, and we smote him until none was left to him remaining. ⁴ And we took all his cities at that time there was not a city which we did not take from them, sixty cities, all the region of Argob, of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. ⁵ All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars besides a great many unwalled towns. ⁶ And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon, king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every city, men, women, and children. ⁷ But all the beasts and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves. ⁸ And we also took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side of the Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto Mount Hermon ⁹ (which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion and the Amorites call it Shenir) and ¹⁰ all the cities of the plain and all Gilead and all Bashan unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. ¹¹ For only Og, king of Bashan, had remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the sons of Ammon? Nine cubits was the length thereof and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man. ¹² ¶ And this land, which we inherited at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half of Mount Gilead and the cities thereof, I gave unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites. ¹³ And the rest of Gilead and all Bashan (fertile ground), being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh: all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants. ¹⁴ Jair, the son of Manasseh, took all the country of Argob unto the border of Geshuri and Maachathi and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day. ¹⁵ And I gave Gilead unto Machir. ¹⁶ And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon, half the valley for a border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the sons of Ammon, ¹⁷ the plain also and the Jordan and the border thereof from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward.

⁹ For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God gives you.

⁸ and we took their land and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

⁸ for the other half received their inheritance with the Reubenites and the Gadites, which Moses gave them of the other side of the Jordan eastward, according as Moses the slave of the LORD gave them;

¹⁵ And Moses gave unto the tribe of the sons of Reuben according to their families,

⁴³ ¶ Thus the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he swore to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it and dwelt therein. ⁴⁴ And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he had sworn unto their fathers; and none of their enemies could stand before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hands.

²⁶ and said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God and wilt do that which is right in his sight and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the LORD thy Healer.

⁶ and showing mercy unto thousands of generations of those that love me and keep my commandments.

¹ ¶ Now, therefore, hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rights which I teach you, for in doing them ye shall live and go in and inherit the land which the LORD God of your fathers gives you. ² Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish anything from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

⁴ But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive, every one of you this day.

⁶ Keep them, therefore, and do them, for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who shall hear all these statutes and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

⁹ Therefore, take heed to thyself and keep thy soul diligently lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life, but teach them to thy sons and thy sons’ sons.

⁵ And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might. ⁶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart, ⁷ and thou shalt repeat them diligently unto thy sons and shalt talk of them being in thy house and walking by the way, lying down in bed, and rising up; ⁸ and thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes; ⁹ and thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house and on thy gates.

¹⁷ ¶ Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded thee.

¹² ¶ And now, Israel, what does the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways and to love him and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, ¹³ to keep the commandments of the LORD and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

²⁰ Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave and swear by his name.

¹ ¶ Therefore, thou shalt love the LORD thy God and keep his charge and his statutes and his rights and his commandments, always.

¹³ And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day: to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul

²² For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, loving the LORD your God and walking in all his ways, to cleave unto him,

⁴ Ye shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him and keep his commandments and hear his voice, and ye shall serve him and cleave unto him.

⁸ but cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.

¹⁴ Now therefore fear the LORD and serve him in perfection and in truth and put away from among you the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the river and in Egypt, and serve ye the LORD. ¹⁵ ¶ And if it seems evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the river or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

³ ¶ And Samuel spoke unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you and prepare your hearts unto the LORD and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

²⁰ And Samuel said unto the people, Do not fear. Ye have done all this wickedness, yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;

²⁴ Only fear the LORD and serve him in truth with all your heart, for consider what great things he has done with you.

⁷ Moreover, I will establish his kingdom for ever if he is constant to do my commandments and my judgments as at this day. ⁸ Now, therefore, in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God, that ye may possess this good land and leave it for an inheritance for your sons after you for ever.

³ Happy are those that keep judgment and he that does righteousness at all times.

⁴ ¶ Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. ⁵ O that my ways were ordered to keep thy statutes! ⁶ Then I shall not be ashamed, when I have insight unto all thy commandments.

²³ Above all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the issues of life.

² Why do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which does not satisfy? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

¹⁶ And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear in my name, saying, The LORD lives; as they taught my people to swear by Baal then they shall be prospered in the midst of my people.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

²⁴ No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and riches.

³⁷ Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind.

⁷⁴ that he would grant unto us, that without fear delivered out of the hand of our enemies, we might serve him

²⁶ If anyone serves me, let them follow me; and where I am, there shall my servant be also; the one that serves me, will my Father honour.

¹⁵ ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments;

²¹ He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him. ²² Judas, not Iscariot, said unto him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us and not unto the world?strong> ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, He who loves me will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him and dwell with him.

¹⁵ ¶ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He said unto him, Yes, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my lambs. ¹⁶ He said to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He said unto him, Yes, Lord thou knowest that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

²³ Who, when he came and had seen the grace of God, was glad and exhorted them all to remain in their purpose of heart in the Lord.

²³ For the angel of God stood by me this night, whose I am and whom I serve,

⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I always remember you in my prayers,

²⁸ And we now know that unto those who love God, all things help them unto good, to those who according to the purpose are called to be saints.

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation, abhorring that which is evil, causing you to come unto that which is good;

¹¹ But we desire that each one of you show the same diligence until the end for the fulfillment of your hope, ¹² that ye not become slothful, but imitators of those who by faith and patience inherit the promises.

¹⁵ looking diligently that no one deviate from the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up impede you, and thereby many be defiled,

¹² Blessed is the man that patiently endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those that love him.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world that they might be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those that love him?

⁵ ¶ Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; and in patience, fear of God; ⁷ and in fear of God, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, charity. ⁸ For if these things are in you and abound, they shall not let you be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he that lacks these things is blind and walks feeling the way with his hand, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. ¹⁰ Therefore, brethren, give all the more diligence to make your calling and election sure; for doing these things, ye shall never fall.

² In this we know that we love the sons of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. ³ For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments, and his commandments are not grievous.

¹⁹ And he blessed him and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of the heavens and of the earth;

⁷ And Joseph brought in Jacob his father and set him before Pharaoh; and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

¹⁰ And Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from before Pharaoh.

⁴³ And Moses looked upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it; and Moses blessed them.

¹³ Then Joshua blessed him and gave unto Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, Hebron as inheritance.

⁷ Now to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh, Moses had given possession in Bashan; but unto the other half Joshua gave inheritance among their brethren on this side of the Jordan to the west. And Joshua also sent these to their tents, after having blessed them, ⁸ And he spoke unto them, saying, Return with great riches unto your tents and with a great amount of cattle with silver, with gold, with brass, with iron, and with very much clothing; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

²⁰ And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the petition which was asked of the LORD. And they went unto their own home.

¹⁸ And as soon as David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of the hosts.

²⁰ ¶ Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal, the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his slaves as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!

¹⁸ For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, and they ate the passover not as it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon each one

³⁴ And Simeon blessed them and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel and for a sign which shall be spoken against

⁵⁰ ¶ And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

⁶ but he whose descent is not counted in those took tithes from Abraham and blessed him that had the promises. ⁷ And without any contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

³³ Thus Moses gave unto the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and unto half the tribe of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with its cities and borders, even the cities of the country round about.

²⁹ And Moses also gave unto the half tribe of Manasseh, and it belonged to the half tribe of the sons of Manasseh according to their families. ³⁰ Their border was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities. ³¹ And half of Gilead and Ashtaroth and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were given to the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, even to one half of the sons of Machir, according to their families.

¹ ¶ There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph. Machir, the firstborn of Manasseh and father of Gilead, who was a man of war, had Gilead and Bashan. ² There was also a lot for the rest of the sons of Manasseh by their families: for the sons of Abiezer and for the sons of Helek and for the sons of Asriel and for the sons of Shechem, and for the sons of Hepher and for the sons of Shemida: these were the male sons of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, by their families. ³ But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters, and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. ⁴ And they came near before Eleazar the priest and before Joshua, the son of Nun, and before the princes and said, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore, according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father. ⁵ And there fell ten portions to Manasseh besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side of the Jordan, ⁶ because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons; and the rest of Manasseh’s sons had the land of Gilead. ⁷ ¶ And the border of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, which is before Shechem; and this border goes along on the right hand to the inhabitants of Entappuah. ⁸ Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah; but the Tappuah next to the border of Manasseh belongs to the sons of Ephraim; ⁹ And this border descends to the river Kanah towards the Negev of the river. These cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh; and the border of Manasseh is from the north side of the same river, and it comes out at the sea. ¹⁰ Ephraim towards the Negev and Manasseh to the north and the sea is his border; and they meet with Asher on the side of the north and with Issachar to the east. ¹¹ And Manasseh also had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and her towns and Ibleam and her towns and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, three provinces. ¹² But the sons of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; to the contrary the Canaanite desired to dwell in that land.

²⁷ and divide the prey into two parts between those that took the part in the war, who went out to battle, and all the congregation.

⁹ a land in which thou shalt eat bread without scarceness; thou shalt not lack any thing in it, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose mountains thou may dig brass. ¹⁰ ¶ Thou shalt eat and be full and bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he has given thee. ¹¹ Keep thyself, that thou forget not the LORD thy God, to not fulfill his commandments and his rights and his statutes, which I command thee this day, ¹² lest peradventure when thou hast eaten and art full and hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein, ¹³ and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied and all that thou hast is multiplied, ¹⁴ then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery,

¹⁷ and thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth. ¹⁸ But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God, for it is he that gives thee the power to get wealth that he may confirm his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

¹⁶ And so he brought him down, and behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and holding a feast because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines and out of the land of Judah.

²⁴ For who will hearken unto you in this matter? For as his part is that goes down to the battle, so shall his part be that remains by the stuff; they shall part alike.

⁵ Therefore, the LORD confirmed the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought Jehoshaphat presents, and he had riches and glory in abundance.

²⁷ And Hezekiah had exceedingly great riches and honour, and he made himself treasures of silver and of gold and of precious stones and of spices and of shields and of all manner of pleasant vessels,

¹² Kings of armies fled apace, and she that dwells in the house divided the spoil.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour.

⁵⁸ ¶ Therefore, my beloved brothers, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

²⁶ esteeming the reproach of the Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt, for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.

¹ ¶ Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock, and when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, it seemed unto them that the place was a place for livestock.

²⁶ Our little ones, our wives, our livestock, and all our beasts, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;

²⁹ And Moses said unto them, If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben will pass the Jordan with you, each one armed to battle, before the LORD, after the land shall be subdued before you, then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession.

³⁹ And the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, went to Gilead and took it and dispossessed the Amorite who was in it. ⁴⁰ And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir, the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.

¹⁵ And I gave Gilead unto Machir. ¹⁶ And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon, half the valley for a border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the sons of Ammon,

¹¹ and Gilead and the borders of the Geshur and Maachath and all Mount Hermon and all Bashan unto Salcah;

²⁵ And their border was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead and half of the land of the sons of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah,

³¹ And half of Gilead and Ashtaroth and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were given to the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, even to one half of the sons of Machir, according to their families.

⁷ Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of my head; Judah is my lawgiver;

¹⁸ And Jacob rose up early in the morning and took the stone that he had put for his pillows and set it up for a pillar and poured oil upon the top of it.

⁴⁶ And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones and made a heap; and they ate there upon the heap. ⁴⁷ And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha, but Jacob called it Galeed. ⁴⁸ And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed; ⁴⁹ and Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another. ⁵⁰ If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness between me and thee. ⁵¹ And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have raised up between me and thee; ⁵² let this heap be witness and this pillar be witness that I will not pass over this heap against thee and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar against me, for harm.

⁵ and Joshua said unto them, Pass before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan and take ye up each one of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, ⁶ that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What do these stones mean unto you? ⁷ Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off; and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the sons of Israel for ever. ⁸ And the sons of Israel did so as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as the LORD spoke unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged and laid them down there. ⁹ Joshua also set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant had stood; and they are there unto this day.

²⁵ The LORD has put the Jordan for a border between us and you, O sons of Reuben and sons of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD, so shall your sons make our sons cease from fearing the LORD. ²⁶ Therefore we said, Let us now work to build us an altar, not for burnt offering nor for sacrifice, ²⁷ but that it may be a witness between us and you and our generations after us, to do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD. ²⁸ Therefore we said, that it shall be, if they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may reply, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings nor for sacrifices, but it is a witness between us and you.

²⁶ And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and taking a great stone, he set it up there under an oak that was in the sanctuary of the LORD. ²⁷ And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us, for it has heard all the words of the LORD which he spoke unto us: it shall be, therefore, a witness unto you lest ye deny your God.

⁸ And thou shalt also say unto them: Any man of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among you that offers a burnt offering or sacrifice ⁹ and does not bring it unto the door of the tabernacle of the testimony to offer it unto the LORD, even that man shall be cut off from among his people.

⁵ ¶ But ye shall seek the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there for his habitation, and thou shalt go there. ⁶ And there ye shall bring your burnt offerings and your sacrifices and your tithes and the offerings of your hand and your vows and your freewill offerings and the firstborn of your cows and of your sheep; ⁷ and there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye and your households shall rejoice in every work of your hands in which the LORD thy God has blessed thee.

¹² ¶ If thou shalt hear in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God has given thee to dwell there, that it is said, ¹³ certain men, the sons of Belial, are gone out from among you and have incited the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known, ¹⁴ then shalt thou enquire and search and ask diligently; and, behold, if it is the truth and the thing certain that such abomination is wrought among you,

⁷ And the men pursued after them along the way to Jordan unto the fords; and as soon as those who pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

¹⁴ ¶ And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents to pass the Jordan and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, ¹⁵ when those that bore the ark entered into the Jordan, as soon as the feet of the priests that bore the ark were dipped in the brim of the water (for Jordan overflows all its banks all the time of harvest), ¹⁶ that the waters which came down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far from the city of Adam, that is beside Zaretan; and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed and were cut off; and the people passed over right against Jericho.

⁵ And the Gileadites took the passages of the Jordan from Ephraim; and it was such that when any of those of Ephraim who had escaped would say, May I pass? The men of Gilead would ask them, Art thou an Ephrathite? If he said, No;

²⁸ These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

¹ ¶ The first of the sabbaths, Mary Magdalene came early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre and saw the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

¹² and saw two angels in white sitting, the one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been placed.

¹⁵ thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly with all that is therein and the beasts thereof, with the edge of the sword.

¹ ¶ And the whole congregation of the sons of Israel assembled together at Shiloh and set up the tabernacle of the testimony there after the land was subdued before them.

¹ ¶ Then all the sons of Israel went out, and the congregation was gathered together as one man, from Dan to Beersheba and the land of Gilead, unto the LORD in Mizpeh. ² And the chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, were present in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword. ³ (Now the sons of Benjamin heard that the sons of Israel were gone up to Mizpeh.) Then the sons of Israel said, Tell us, how was this wickedness? ⁴ And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was murdered, answered and said, I came into Gibeah of Benjamin with my concubine to pass the night there. ⁵ And the men of Gibeah rose up against me and beset the house round about upon me by night and thought to have slain me, and they have forced my concubine in such a manner that she is dead. ⁶ Then I took my concubine and cut her in pieces and sent her throughout all the country of the possession of Israel, for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel. ⁷ Behold, all ye sons of Israel; give here your advice and counsel. ⁸ Then all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house ⁹ until we do this upon Gibeah that we cast lots against it; ¹⁰ and we will take ten men of a hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch provisions for the people that shall go against Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel. ¹¹ So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.

² When Peter was come up to Jerusalem, those that were of the circumcision contended with him, ³ saying, Why didst thou go in to men uncircumcised and eat with them?

² For I give testimony that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

¹⁷ ¶ They are zealous after you, but not for good; they would exclude you from us, that ye might be zealous after them. ¹⁸ It is good to be always zealous to do good, and not only when I am present with you.

²⁵ And Eleazar, Aaron’s son, took one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.

⁷ And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation and took a javelin in his hand;

¹¹ Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the sons of Israel, being zealous for my sake among them, therefore I did not consume the sons of Israel in my jealousy. ¹² Because of this say unto them, Behold, I establish my covenant of peace with him; ¹³ and he shall have, and his seed after him, even the covenant of the everlasting priesthood because he was zealous for his God and reconciled the sons of Israel.

¹⁴ then shalt thou enquire and search and ask diligently; and, behold, if it is the truth and the thing certain that such abomination is wrought among you,

¹² ¶ And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?

²⁸ and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days), saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the sons of Benjamin, my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up, for tomorrow I will deliver them into thy hand.

³⁰ Then Phinehas stood up and executed judgment, and so the plague was stayed. ³¹ And that was counted unto him for righteousness from generation to generation for evermore.

¹⁸ ¶ Every thought must be ordered by counsel, and with intelligence war is made.

⁹ Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself and do not uncover the secret to another ¹⁰ lest he that hears it put thee to shame and thine infamy not turn away. ¹¹ ¶ A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold inscribed with silver. ¹² As an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold, so is he who reproves a wise man who has a docile ear. ¹³ ¶ As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to those that send him, for he refreshes the soul of his master.

¹⁵ ¶ Therefore if thy brother shall sin against thee, go and reprove him between thee and him alone; if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

²⁵ And Moses chose men of virtue out of all Israel and made them heads over the people, princes over thousands, over hundreds, over fifties, and over tens.

⁴ And with you there shall be a man of every tribe, every one head of the house of his fathers.

⁸ They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them; they have made themselves a molten calf and have worshipped it and have sacrificed unto it and said, These are thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁹ It is for his guilt; he is certainly guilty against the LORD.

⁴⁰ ¶ And they shall confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers for their trespass which they trespassed against me and that also they have walked contrary unto me,

⁶ Speak unto the sons of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and that person is guilty,

⁴³ For the Amalekite and the Canaanite are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword; because ye are turned away from following the LORD, therefore, the LORD will not be with you.

¹⁵ For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave you in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.

⁴ For they will turn away thy son from following me that they may serve other gods; and the anger of the LORD will be kindled upon you and destroy thee suddenly.

⁴ Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God. ⁵ ¶ But ye shall seek the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there for his habitation, and thou shalt go there. ⁶ And there ye shall bring your burnt offerings and your sacrifices and your tithes and the offerings of your hand and your vows and your freewill offerings and the firstborn of your cows and of your sheep;

¹³ Keep thyself that thou not offer thy burnt offerings in any place that thou seest ¹⁴ but in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes; there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

¹⁷ But if thine heart turns away so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away and worship other gods and serve them,

¹² And when the sons of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the sons of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.

¹⁸ And ye turn away this day from following the LORD; and it will be, seeing ye rebel today against the LORD, that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel.

²³ For rebellion is the sin of witchcraft, and to break the word of the Lord is iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected thee from being king.

³ And Joab answered, The LORD make his people a hundred times as many more as they are; but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s slaves? Why then does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guiltiness unto Israel?

¹⁹ Thus Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.

²⁷ From the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD, they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish, but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there.

¹⁸ And they withstood Uzziah, the king, and said unto him, It does not pertain unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests, the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense; go out of the sanctuary, for thou hast rebelled; neither shall it be for thy glory before the LORD God.

¹³ and said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives here, for the sin against the LORD shall be upon us. Ye intend to add more to our sins and to our guilt, for our guilt is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

² for they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, and the holy seed is mingled with the peoples of the lands; and the hand of the princes and of the governors has been foremost in this trespass.

¹⁵ O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous; for we have an escape, as it is this day, behold us here, before thee in our guiltiness; for we cannot stand before thee because of this.

⁸ and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set their heart aright and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

¹⁰ But they were rebels and angered his holy Spirit; therefore, he was turned to be their enemy, and he himself fought against them.

¹⁴ For if ye set men free from their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also set you free; ¹⁵ but if ye do not set men free from their trespasses, neither will your Father set you free from your trespasses.

¹⁷ And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; but if he neglects to hear the congregation, let him be unto thee as a worldly man and a publican.

¹⁰ ¶ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfect, joined together in the same understanding and in the same perception.

⁴ In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹ ¶ Paul, apostle (not from men neither through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead) ² and all the brethren who are with me, unto the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of Galatia:

²⁵ See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if those who refused him that spoke on earth did not escape, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from the heavens,

¹ ¶ And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to fornicate with the daughters of Moab, ² who called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods; and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. ³ And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor; and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. ⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the princes of the people and disjoint them before the LORD hanging them from a tree against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel. ⁵ Then Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor. ⁶ ¶ Then, behold, one of the sons of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses and in the sight of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the testimony. ⁷ And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation and took a javelin in his hand; ⁸ and he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. So the plague of the sons of Israel was stayed. ⁹ And those that died in that plague were twenty-four thousand. ¹⁰ Then the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, ¹¹ Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the sons of Israel, being zealous for my sake among them, therefore I did not consume the sons of Israel in my jealousy. ¹² Because of this say unto them, Behold, I establish my covenant of peace with him; ¹³ and he shall have, and his seed after him, even the covenant of the everlasting priesthood because he was zealous for his God and reconciled the sons of Israel. ¹⁴ Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianite, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a family of the tribe of Simeon. ¹⁵ And the name of the Midianite woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur, prince of peoples, of the house of the father, in Midian. ¹⁶ ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, ¹⁷ Declare war on the Midianites and smite them; ¹⁸ for they treated you as enemies with their wiles, with which they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, daughter of the prince of Midian, their sister, who was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake.

³ Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor; for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God has destroyed them from among you. ⁴ But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive, every one of you this day.

¹³ And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guiltiness, seeing that thou our God hast intervened that we no longer be oppressed because of our iniquities and hast given us such an escape as this, ¹⁴ should we again break thy commandments and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? Would thou not be angry with us until thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escape?

²⁸ They also joined themselves unto Baalpeor and ate the sacrifices for the dead. ²⁹ Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions; and the plague broke in upon them.

⁸ Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed and fell dead: in one day, twenty-three thousand.

¹¹ Now all these things happened unto them as types, and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.

²² And they fell upon their faces and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?

¹ ¶ But the sons of Israel committed a trespass in the anathema; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the anathema; and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the sons of Israel.

¹¹ Israel has sinned and has even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them; for they have even taken of the anathema and have also stolen and lied also, and they have even put it in their own vessels.

²¹ When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment and two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

¹⁶ Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD in that ye have built an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?

²⁰ Peradventure did Achan, the son of Zerah, not commit a trespass in the anathema, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? And that man did not perish alone in his iniquity.

¹⁴ If ye will fear the LORD and serve him and hear his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigns over you continue following the LORD your God.

¹ ¶ And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he incited David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

⁶ But if ye shall obstinately turn from following me, ye or your sons, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them,

²¹ For he rent Israel from the house of David, and they made Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, king; and Jeroboam drove Israel from following the LORD and made them commit a great sin.

¹ ¶ And Satan stood up against Israel and provoked David to number Israel.

¹⁴ So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel; and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.

³³ And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the lands that pertained to the sons of Israel and made all that were present in Israel serve the LORD their God only. And all his days they did not depart from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.

¹⁷ Thou shalt bring them in and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place of thy dwelling which thou hast made ready, O LORD, in the Sanctuary of the Lord, which thy hands have established.

²⁵ and the land became defiled; therefore, I visited its iniquity upon it, and the land itself vomited out her inhabitants. ²⁶ Ye shall, therefore, keep my statutes and my rights and shall not commit any of these abominations, neither the natural of your own nor any stranger that sojourns among you. ²⁷ (For all these abominations were done by the men of the land who were before you, and the land was contaminated.) ²⁸ And will the land not vomit you out also for having contaminated it, as it vomited out the Gentiles that were before you?

¹³ ¶ And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel gathered unto him out of all their borders.

¹⁶ And from after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers. ¹⁷ So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, strong for three years because they walked three years in the way of David and of Solomon.

¹⁷ Therefore thus hath the LORD said; Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by lots; and thou shalt die in a polluted land; and Israel shall surely go into captivity from his land.

¹⁴ But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. ¹⁵ And the voice spoke unto him again the second time, That which God has cleansed, do not call common.

⁸ But I said, Not so, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has at any time entered into my mouth. ⁹ But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God has cleansed, do not call common.

⁵ And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty-six men; for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down; therefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

¹⁸ and he caused his household to come near, man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

²⁴ Then Joshua and all Israel with him took Achan, the son of Zerah, and the silver and the garment and the wedge of gold and his sons and his daughters and his oxen and his asses and his sheep and his tent and all that he had, and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

⁶ ¶ Now these things became types of us, that we should not lust after evil things as they lusted.

⁶ and if he condemned by destruction the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha, turning them into ashes, making them an example unto those that after should live without fear and reverence of God;

⁵ I will, therefore, remind you, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those that did not believe. ⁶ And the angels who did not keep their first estate but left their own habitation, he has reserved in eternal chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

²¹ Moreover thou shalt consider out of all the people men of virtue, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness, and place princes over them, of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. ²² And let them judge the people at all seasons; and it shall be that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge, so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. ²³ If thou shalt do this thing and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. ²⁴ So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said. ²⁵ And Moses chose men of virtue out of all Israel and made them heads over the people, princes over thousands, over hundreds, over fifties, and over tens.

¹ ¶ A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.

¹ ¶ Of man are the preparations of the heart, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.

¹³ ¶ For him that answers a word before he hears, it is folly and reproach unto him.

²⁶ The lips of the one that gives a right answer shall be kissed.

² But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be Lord in Israel; and his goings forth are from the beginning, from the days of the ages.

⁴ But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning and expounded it by order unto them, saying,

¹⁹ ¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

¹⁵ but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to respond to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and reverence,

¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods; for in the thing in which they dealt proudly he prevailed against them.

¹⁷ For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, a great God, mighty, and terrible, who makes no exception of persons, nor takes a bribe;

³⁹ then thou shalt hear in the heavens, in the habitation of thy dwelling place, and forgive and do and give to each one according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the sons of men),

⁷ Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is no one that can deliver out of thy hand.

¹⁰ But he has known the way that I take; he has tried me, and I have come forth as gold.

⁵ If I have walked with falsehood or if my foot has hastened to deceit, ⁶ let me be weighed in a just balance, that God may know my integrity. ⁷ If my step has turned out of the way and my heart walked after my eyes and if any blot has cleaved to my hands, ⁸ then let me sow, and let another eat, and let my offspring be rooted out.

³⁸ If my land cries against me and all its furrows likewise complain; ³⁹ if I ate of its strength without money or have afflicted the soul of its owners; ⁴⁰ let thistles grow up unto me instead of wheat and stinkweed instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.

³ O LORD my God, if I have done this: if there is iniquity in my hands, ⁴ if I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me, then let my persecutor escape without retribution. ⁵ Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; let him tread down my life upon the earth and lay my honour in the dust. Selah.

⁶ And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light and thy uprightness as the noonday.

²¹ shall not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

¹ A Psalm of Asaph. ¶ God stands in the congregation of the mighty; he judges among the gods.

³ For the LORD is a great God and a great King above all gods.

⁷ Let all those that serve graven images be confounded, those that boast of idols; worship him, all ye gods.

¹ To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David. ¶ O LORD, thou hast searched me and known me. ² Thou knowest my sitting down and my rising up, thou dost understand my thoughts from afar. ³ Thou hast girded my walk and my rest, and hast prepared all my ways. ⁴ For the word is not even upon my tongue, and, behold, O LORD, thou dost know it altogether. ⁵ Thou hast formed my face and my insides and laid thine hand upon me. ⁶ Thy knowledge is wonderful beyond my ability to comprehend; it is high, I cannot understand it. ⁷ ¶ Where shall I go from thy spirit? or where shall I flee from thy presence? ⁸ If I ascend to the heavens, thou art there: if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there. ⁹ If I take the wings of the dawn and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, ¹⁰ even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. ¹¹ If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall shine because of me. ¹² Even the darkness does not hide from thee; but the night shines as the day; the darkness is as the light.

³ But thou, O LORD, dost know me; thou hast seen me and tried my heart toward thee; pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and mark them for the day of slaughter.

¹⁰ I the LORD search the heart; I try the kidneys, even to give each man according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doings.

⁴⁷ The king answered unto Daniel and said, Certainly the God that is your God is God of gods and the Lord of the kings and the revealer of the mysteries, seeing thou could reveal this mystery.

³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will, and he shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god and shall speak marvels against the God of gods and shall prosper until the indignation is accomplished, for the determination has been made.

⁹ I will bear the indignation of the LORD because I have sinned against him, until he has judged my cause and executed my judgment; he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

¹⁸ Therefore become ye converted, and ye shall make a difference between the just and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that did not serve him.

²⁴ But Jesus did not trust himself unto them because he knew all men ²⁵ and needed not that any man should give testimony, for he knew what was in man.

¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

²⁴ And they prayed and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of everyone, show which of these two thou hast chosen,

² When Peter was come up to Jerusalem, those that were of the circumcision contended with him, ³ saying, Why didst thou go in to men uncircumcised and eat with them? ⁴ But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning and expounded it by order unto them, saying, ⁵ I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a rapture of understanding I saw a vision: A certain vessel descended like a great sheet let down from heaven by the four corners, and it came unto me, ⁶ upon which when I had fastened my eyes, I considered and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth and wild beasts and reptiles and fowls of the air. ⁷ And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter, slay and eat. ⁸ But I said, Not so, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has at any time entered into my mouth. ⁹ But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God has cleansed, do not call common. ¹⁰ And this was done three times, and it was all drawn up again into heaven. ¹¹ And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. ¹² And the Spirit bade me go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house: ¹³ And he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, who stood and said unto him, Send to Joppa and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter, ¹⁴ who shall tell thee words, by which thou and all thy house shall be saved. ¹⁵ And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as on us at the beginning. ¹⁶ Then I remembered the word of the Lord, when he said, John indeed baptized in water, but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit. ¹⁷ So then, if God gave them the same gift as he did unto us, who have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I should withstand God? ¹⁸ When they heard these things, they were silent and glorified God, saying, Then God has also granted repentance unto life to the Gentiles.

¹¹ For if I am an offender or have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die; but if there are none of these things of which these accuse me, no one may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

¹¹ Therefore being certain of that terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God, and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

¹¹ Why? because I do not love you? God knows.

³¹ The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed for evermore, knows that I do not lie.

¹⁶ the only one who has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

¹³ Neither is there any created thing that is not manifested in his presence, but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him of whom we speak.

²³ And I will kill her children with death, and all the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} shall know that I AM he that searches the kidneys and hearts, and I will give unto each one of you according to your works.

¹⁶ And he has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

⁴ But flesh with the soul (or life) thereof, which is its blood, ye shall not eat.

¹¹ then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; there shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the offerings of your hand and all your choice of vows which ye vow unto the LORD;

¹⁹ And it shall come to pass that whoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

¹⁶ So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David.

²² Thus Joash, the king, did not remember the mercy which Jehoiada, his father, had done to him but slew his son; who said when he died, The LORD look upon it and require it.

¹³ In what does the wicked irritate God? He has said in his heart, Thou wilt not require accountability. ¹⁴ Thou hast seen it, for thou dost behold mischief and spite to requite it with thy hand: the poor commits himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

¹⁸ When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die and thou dost not give him warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, that he might live, the same wicked man shall die for his iniquity; but his blood I will require at thine hand.

⁶ But if the watchman should see the sword coming and not blow the shofar and the people not be warned, if the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away because of his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.

⁸ When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die for his sin; but I will require his blood at thine hand.

¹⁹ For I know him, that he will command his sons and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and judgment, that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he has spoken of him.

³³ So shall my righteousness answer for me tomorrow, when my hire shall come before thy face; each one that is not speckled and spotted among my goats and brown among my sheep shall be counted stolen with me.

¹⁴ And it shall be when thy son asks thee in time to come, saying, What is this? Thou shalt say unto him, With a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery;

²⁰ And when tomorrow thy son asks thee, saying, What are the testimonies and the statutes and the rights, which the LORD our God has commanded you?

⁶ that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What do these stones mean unto you?

²⁷ but that it may be a witness between us and you and our generations after us, to do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.

¹⁹ Now, therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his slave. If the LORD has stirred thee up against me, let him smell the fragrance of an offering, but if they were the sons of men, let them be cursed before the LORD, for they have driven me out this day from joining myself to the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.

¹ ¶ And a man of Belial happened to be there, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a man of Jemini, and he blew the shofar, saying, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, O Israel.

¹⁶ ¶ So when all Israel saw that the king did not hearken unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? There is no inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, O Israel! Now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.

²⁷ if this people go up to sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem; for the heart of this people shall turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam, king of Judah, and they shall kill me and go again to Rehoboam, king of Judah. ²⁸ And having taken counsel, the king made two calves of gold and said unto the people, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem; behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. ²⁹ And he set the one in Bethel and the other he put in Dan. ³⁰ And this became an occasion for sin, for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

¹⁶ And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who has made Israel sin.

³⁰ because of the sins of Jeroboam with which he sinned and with which he made Israel sin and because of his provocation with which he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

² then they came to Zerubbabel and to the heads of the fathers and said unto them, Let us build with you, for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon, king of Assur, who brought us up here. ³ But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build a house unto our God; but we alone will build unto the LORD God of Israel as King Cyrus, the king of Persia, commanded us.

²⁰ Then I gave them a reply and said unto them, The God of the heavens, he will prosper us; therefore, we, his slaves, will arise and build; but ye have no portion nor righteousness, nor memorial in Jerusalem.

²¹ Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter, for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

⁴⁸ And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;

⁵² let this heap be witness and this pillar be witness that I will not pass over this heap against thee and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar against me, for harm.

¹⁷ Thou may not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy grain or of thy wine or of thy oil or the firstborn of thy cows or of thy sheep nor any of thy vows which thou hast promised nor thy freewill offerings or the heave offerings of thy hands. ¹⁸ But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall have chosen, thou and thy son and thy daughter and thy manslave and thy maidslave and the Levite that is within thy gates; and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all the work of thy hands.

²⁶ But the things which thou hast consecrated and thy vows, thou shalt take and go unto the place which the LORD shall have chosen, ²⁷ and thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.

¹⁰ ¶ And when they came unto the borders of the Jordan, which is in the land of Canaan, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built an altar there next to the Jordan, a great altar to look upon.

³⁴ And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad called the altar Ed; for it is a witness between us that the LORD is God.

²⁷ And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us, for it has heard all the words of the LORD which he spoke unto us: it shall be, therefore, a witness unto you lest ye deny your God.

¹² Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpeh and Shen and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Thus far the LORD has helped us.

⁴⁰ And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was showed thee in the mount.

¹⁰ ¶ And King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser, King of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and king Ahaz sent to Urijah, the priest, the fashion of the altar and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship of it.

¹⁰ Thou son of man, show this house to the house of Israel that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them understand the pattern. ¹¹ And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, show them the form of the house, and its pattern, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all its figures, and all its descriptions, and all its paintings, and all its laws; and write it in their sight that they may keep the whole form thereof and all the ordinances thereof and do them.

⁵ (who serve as an example and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern showed unto thee in the mount);

⁷ And they said unto him, Why saith my lord these words? In no wise should thy slaves do according to this thing.

¹⁷ And he said, in no wise should I do so; but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my slave; and as for you, go up in peace unto your father.

²³ that we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD or if to offer thereon burnt offering or present or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;

²⁶ Therefore we said, Let us now work to build us an altar, not for burnt offering nor for sacrifice,

¹⁶ Then the people answered and said, May it never happen that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods.

²³ Moreover as for me, in no wise should I sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you, but I will teach you the good and the right way.

³ And Naboth replied unto Ahab, The LORD keep me from giving thee the inheritance of my fathers.

²² But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is he not the one whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away and has said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

¹² Has not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar and burn incense upon it?

⁶ No, in no wise: for then how shall God judge the world?

² No, in no wise. How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?

¹⁴ ¶ What shall we say then? Is there injustice in God? No, in no wise.

⁸ and Esau, seeing that the daughters of Canaan did not please Isaac his father,

³³ And the thing pleased the sons of Israel; and the sons of Israel blessed God and did not speak again of going up against them in battle to destroy the land in which the sons of Reuben and Gad dwelt.

³ God has delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb, and what was I able to do in comparison with you? Then their anger was abated toward him when he spoke that word.

³² ¶ Then David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel who sent thee this day to meet me; ³³ and blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou who hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood and from avenging myself with my own hand.

⁶ ¶ Then Achish called David and said unto him, Surely, as the LORD lives, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the camp is good in my sight; for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day; nevertheless, thou art not good in the eyes of the cardinals.

⁴ And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation.

²¹ And this word pleased the king and the princes, and the king did according to the word of Memucan;

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they were silent and glorified God, saying, Then God has also granted repentance unto life to the Gentiles.

¹¹ And I will set my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. ¹² And I will walk among you and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.

⁴¹ And Moses said, Why do ye break the commandment of the LORD? This also shall not prosper. ⁴² Do not go up, for the LORD is not among you; do not be smitten before your enemies. ⁴³ For the Amalekite and the Canaanite are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword; because ye are turned away from following the LORD, therefore, the LORD will not be with you.

¹⁰ And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Hivite and the Perizzite and the Girgashite and the Amorite and the Jebusite.

² and he went out to meet Asa and said unto him, Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The LORD is with you, while ye are with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

¹⁷ The chariots of God are two thousand, thousands of angels; the Lord is among them as in Sinai, in the sanctuary.

⁶ Rejoice and sing, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

²³ Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, In those days it shall come to pass that ten men of all the languages of the Gentiles shall take hold of the robe of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.

²³ Behold, a virgin shall conceive and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is God With Us.

²⁵ for the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed in you.

¹² And when the sons of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the sons of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them. ¹³ And the sons of Israel sent unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, ¹⁴ and with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was the head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.

¹³ ¶ As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to those that send him, for he refreshes the soul of his master.

³⁰ ¶ And when Phinehas the priest and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel who were with him, heard the words that the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the sons of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them.

²⁰ Then David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers and bowed down and worshipped before the LORD and the king.

⁵ And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people (for he was above all the people), and when he opened it, all the people stood up: ⁶ and Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, lifting up their hands; and they humbled themselves and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

¹⁹ Then the mystery was revealed unto Daniel in a night vision for which Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

²⁸ then he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,

¹² Then all the multitude kept silence and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what great miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

³¹ which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

⁷ and not by his coming only, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me so that I rejoiced the more.

³ ¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly things in Christ;

⁶ ¶ But now when Timothy came from you unto us and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you. ⁷ Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our tribulation and need by your faith; ⁸ for now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

³⁹ And seeing it, all the people fell on their faces, and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

¹⁰ Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my slave whom I have chosen that ye may know and believe me and understand that I am he; before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
