¹ ¶ Then he said unto the disciples, It is impossible that offenses will not come, but woe unto the one through whom they come! ² It would be better for him if a millstone turned by an ass were placed around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble. ³ Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother should trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. ⁴ And if he trespasses against thee seven times in a day and seven times in a day turns again to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him. ⁵ And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. ⁶ And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, Pluck thyself up by the root, and plant thyself in the sea, and it would obey you. ⁷ But which of you, having a slave plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by when he is come from the field, Go and sit down at the table? ⁸ And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup and gird thyself and serve me until I have eaten and drunken, and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? ⁹ Does he thank that slave because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not. ¹⁰ So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable slaves: we have done that which was our duty to do. ¹¹ ¶ And it came to pass as he went to Jerusalem that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. ¹² And as he entered into a certain village, ten men that were lepers met him, who stood afar off ¹³ and lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. ¹⁴ When he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass that as they went, they were cleansed. ¹⁵ Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God ¹⁶ and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks; and he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? ¹⁸ Were there not found any returning to give glory to God, except this stranger? ¹⁹ And he said unto him, Arise, go; thy faith has saved thee. ²⁰ ¶ And when he was asked of the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God does not come with observation; ²¹ neither shall they say, Behold it here! or, Behold it there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. ²² And he said unto the disciples, The days will come when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. ²³ And they shall say to you, Behold it here, or, Behold it there; do not go, nor follow them. ²⁴ For as the lightning, which shines from the region under heaven, shines in that which is under heaven; so also shall the Son of man be in his day. ²⁵ But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation. ²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. ³⁰ Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. ³¹ In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not turn back. ³² Remember Lot’s wife. ³³ Whosoever shall seek to save his soul shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall cause it to live. ³⁴ I tell you in that night there shall be two men in one bed: the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. ³⁵ Two women shall be grinding together: the one shall be taken, and the other left. ³⁶ Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. ³⁷ And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

²³ But he turned and said unto Peter, Remove thyself from before me, Satan; thou art an offence unto me, for thou dost not understand that which is of God, but that which is of men.

⁷ ¶ Woe unto the world because of offenses! For it must needs be that offenses come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

¹³ Let us, therefore, not judge one another any more, but judge this rather: that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

²⁰ Because of food, do not destroy the work of God. All things indeed are clean, but it is evil for that man who eats with offense. ²¹ It is good neither to eat flesh nor to drink wine nor do any thing by which thy brother stumbles or is offended or is sick.

¹⁷ ¶ And I beseech you, brethren, mark those who cause dissensions and offences outside of the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them.

¹³ Therefore, if food makes my brother to fall, I will never eat flesh nor do anything which may cause my brother to fall.

³² Be without offense, neither to the Jews nor to the Gentiles nor to the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God;

¹⁹ For it is expedient that there also be heresies among you, so that those who are proved may become manifest among you.

¹⁰ and with all deception of iniquity working in those that perish because they did not receive the charity of the truth, to be saved. ¹¹ Therefore, for this cause, God shall send the operation of error in them, that they should believe the lie; ¹² that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but consented to the iniquity.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against thee because thou hast there those that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols and to commit fornication.

²⁰ Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel (who calls herself a prophetess) to teach and to seduce my slaves to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

¹⁴ and deceives those that dwell on the earth by those signs which were given unto him to do in the presence of the beast, commanding those that dwell on the earth to make an image of the beast, which has the wound by the sword, and did live. ¹⁵ And it was given unto him to endue the image of the beast with spirit, so that the image of the beast should speak, and he shall cause those that do not worship the image of the beast to be killed. ¹⁶ And he caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slaves, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads; ¹⁷ and that no one might buy or sell, unless he has the mark or the name of the beast or the number of its name. ¹⁸ Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for the number of man; and its number is six hundred sixty-six.

¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young.

⁷ ¶ Awake, O sword, upon the pastor and upon the man that is my fellow, said the LORD of the hosts; smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered; and I will turn my hand upon the little ones.

³ and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of the heavens. ⁴ Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of the heavens. ⁵ And whosoever shall receive one such little child in my name receives me. ⁶ But whosoever shall cause one of these little ones who believe in me to fall, it would be better for him that a millstone such as is turned by an ass be hanged about his neck and that he be sunk in the depth of the sea.

¹⁰ Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in the heavens their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in the heavens.

¹⁴ Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in the heavens that one of these little ones should perish.

²⁴ The Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It had been good for that man if he had not been born.

⁴² And whosoever shall be a stumbling block to one of these little ones that believe in me, it would be better for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

¹⁵ ¶ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He said unto him, Yes, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my lambs.

¹¹ and through thy knowledge the weak brother shall perish, for whom Christ died. ¹² In this manner, therefore, sinning against the brethren and wounding their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

¹⁵ ¶ But I have used none of these things, neither have I written these things that it should be so done unto me; for it were better for me to die than that anyone should make this my glory void.

²² To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak; I am made all things to everyone, that I might by all means save some.

¹ ¶ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who covertly shall bring in destructive sects and shall deny the Lord that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be blasphemed; ³ ¶ and in covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words, upon whom the condemnation from a long time ago does not delay, and their perdition does not sleep.

¹² Keep thyself lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where thou must enter lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee;

¹⁷ Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart; thou shalt rebuke thy neighbour in sincerity, that thou not bear sin for him.

⁹ Therefore, take heed to thyself and keep thy soul diligently lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life, but teach them to thy sons and thy sons’ sons.

¹⁵ Diligently guard, therefore, your souls, for ye saw no manner of likeness on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire,

²³ Keep yourselves, do not forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he established with you, and make yourselves a graven image or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God has forbidden thee.

⁶ and said to the judges, Take heed what ye do, for ye do not judge for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the word of judgment. ⁷ Therefore, now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it, for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.

⁵ ¶ Let the righteous smite me in mercy, and let him reprove me: and let not a flattering evil prince anoint my head, for my prayer shall ever be against his evil.

⁸ Chasten not a scorner lest he hate thee; chasten a wise man, and he will love thee.

¹⁰ ¶ Reproof is of more benefit to a wise man than a hundred stripes to a fool.

⁵ ¶ Open rebuke is better than secret love.

¹⁵ ¶ Therefore if thy brother shall sin against thee, go and reprove him between thee and him alone; if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. ¹⁶ But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. ¹⁷ And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; but if he neglects to hear the congregation, let him be unto thee as a worldly man and a publican.

²¹ ¶ Then Peter came to him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? until seven times?

³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with excess and drunkenness and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

¹¹ ¶ But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face because he was to be blamed. ¹² For before certain ones came from James, he ate with the Gentiles, but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. ¹³ And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him, insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their hypocrisy. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they did not walk uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, dost live after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why dost thou compel the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

¹⁵ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

¹⁵ looking diligently that no one deviate from the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up impede you, and thereby many be defiled,

¹⁹ Brethren, if any of you have erred from the truth, and someone should convert him;

⁸ Look to yourselves, that we not lose those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a fulfilled reward.

⁴⁴ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who speak evil about you, and persecute you;

¹² And set us free from our debts, as we set free our debtors.

¹⁴ For if ye set men free from their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also set you free; ¹⁵ but if ye do not set men free from their trespasses, neither will your Father set you free from your trespasses.

¹⁶ But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

²¹ ¶ Then Peter came to him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? until seven times? ²² Jesus said unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times, but, Until seventy times seven.

³⁵ So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you unless from your hearts ye forgive every one his brother their trespasses.

²⁰ Therefore, if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

⁴ ¶ Charity suffers long and is benign; charity envies not; charity does nothing without due reason, is not puffed up, ⁵ is not injurious, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil, ⁶ rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

³¹ Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking be taken away from you, with all malice, ³² and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God has forgiven you in Christ.

¹² ¶ Clothed, therefore, (as the elect of God, holy and beloved) with bowels of mercies, with kindness, with humility, with meekness, with tolerance, ¹³ forbearing one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a quarrel against another: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

¹³ But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. ¹⁴ And if anyone does not hearken unto our word by this epistle, note that one and do not join with him, that he may be ashamed.

³⁰ ¶ And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus and told him everything they had done and what they had taught.

²⁴ And straightway the father of the child crying out with tears, said, Lord, I believe; help thou my unbelief.

¹³ And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said unto her, Weep not.

⁸ For this thing I besought the Lord three times that it might be taken from me. ⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather glory in my weaknesses that the power of Christ may dwell in me. ¹⁰ Therefore I am content in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake, for when I am weak, then am I strong.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

³ We must thank God always for you, brethren, as is due because your faith grows exceedingly, and the charity of each and every one of you toward each other abounds,

² with our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who having been offered joy, endured the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}, despising the shame and was seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

²² Having purified your souls in the obedience of the truth, by the Spirit, in unfeigned brotherly love, love one another with a pure heart fervently, ²³ being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.

³¹ He put forth another parable unto them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; ³² which indeed is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and make their nests in its branches.

²⁰ And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unfaithfulness; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove from here to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

²¹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith and doubt not, ye shall not only do this to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done.

²³ And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe this, all things are possible to him that believes.

²² And Jesus, answering, said unto them, Have faith in God. ²³ For verily I say unto you that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Remove thyself and cast thyself into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that what he says shall be done whatsoever he says shall be done unto him.

¹⁹ It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his garden; and it grew and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the heaven lodged in the branches of it.

⁴ And running ahead, he climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way.

² And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

¹¹ And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you that shall have one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it and lift it out?

¹⁵ The Lord then answered him and said, Thou hypocrite, does not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead it away to drink?

⁵ and answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

¹⁶ And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home and slay an animal and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.

²⁰ Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes and came into the house of the LORD and worshipped. Then he came to his own house; and when he asked, they set bread before him, and he ate.

³⁷ Blessed are those slaves, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching; verily I say unto you that he shall gird himself and make them to sit down to food and will come forth and serve them.

¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? For all things come of thee and of thine own have we given thee. ¹⁵ For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers; our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no other hope. ¹⁶ O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee a house for thy holy name comes of thy hand and is all thy own.

² Can a man be profitable unto God? For he that is wise is profitable unto himself. ³ Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that thou art justified? Or is it gain to him that thou makest thy ways perfect?

⁶ If thou dost sin, what hast thou done against him? Or if thy rebellion is multiplied, what doest thou unto him? ⁷ If thou art righteous, what shalt thou give him? Or what shall he receive of thine hand?

² I said unto the LORD, Thou art my goodness: I have no goodness apart from thee; ³ to the saints that are in the earth and to the excellent: all my delight is towards them.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. ⁷ For without cause they have hid their net for me in a pit, which without cause they have dug for my soul.

² ¶ All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirits. ³ ¶ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

⁵ ¶ Then I said, Woe is me! for I am dead because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of the hosts.

⁶ ¶ But we were all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses as filthy rags; and we all fell as the leaves of a tree; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

³⁰ And cast ye the unprofitable slave into the outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee? or thirsty and give thee drink? ³⁸ When did we see thee a stranger and take thee in? or naked and clothe thee? ³⁹ Or when did we see thee sick or in prison and come unto thee? ⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brothers, ye have done it unto me.

¹² They are all gone out of the way; they are together become unprofitable; there is no one that does good, no, not one.

³⁵ Or who has first given unto him, that it be recompensed unto him again?

¹⁶ For though I preach the gospel, I have no reason to glory, for it is an obligation laid upon me; for woe is me, if I do not preach the gospel! ¹⁷ For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, the stewardship of the gospel is committed unto me.

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, for I am not worthy to be called an apostle because I persecuted the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am; and his grace towards me was not in vain, for I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

⁸ And doubtless I even count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ ⁹ ¶ and be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

¹¹ who in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now is profitable to thee and to me,

⁵ ¶ Likewise, young people, be subject to the elders in such a manner that you are all subject to one another. Be clothed with humility of will, for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,

⁵¹ ¶ And it came to pass when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem ⁵² and sent messengers before his face; and they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for him.

³ he left Judaea and departed again into Galilee. ⁴ ¶ And it was necessary that he go through Samaria.

⁴⁵ And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent and his head uncovered, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. ⁴⁶ All the days in which the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he shall be unclean; he shall dwell alone; outside the camp shall his habitation be.

² Command the sons of Israel that they put out of the camp every leper and every one that has an issue and anyone who is defiled by the dead. ³ Both male and female shall ye put out; ye shall put them outside the camp; that they not defile the camp of those among whom I dwell.

¹⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.

²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

³ ¶ And there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate, who said one to another, Why shall we stay here until we die?

²⁰ And Azariah, the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from there, and he also hastened to go out because the LORD had smitten him. ²¹ And Uzziah, the king, was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD; and Jotham, his son, was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

¹² ¶ And it came to pass when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy who, seeing Jesus, fell on his face and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

¹³ And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God, reconcile me, a sinner.

²⁷ ¶ And when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

²² And, behold, a woman of Canaan having come out of the same borders cried unto him, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me; my daughter is sick, possessed by a demon.

³⁰ And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us. ³¹ And the multitude rebuked them, that they should be silent; but they cried the more, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us.

²² And ofttimes it has cast him into the fire and into the waters to kill him, but if thou canst do any thing, help us, having mercy on us.

⁵ And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night and have taken nothing; nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net.

³⁸ And he cried out, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. ³⁹ And those who went before rebuked him that he should remain silent; but he cried out so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

¹ ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron, saying, ² When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, a scab, or bright spot, and it is in the skin of his flesh like the plague of leprosy, then he shall be brought unto Aaron, the priest, or unto one of his sons, the priests, ³ and the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh, and if the hair in the plague is turned white and the plague looks deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is a plague of leprosy; and the priest shall recognize him and pronounce him unclean. ⁴ If the bright spot is white in the skin of his flesh and looks to be not deeper than the skin and the hair thereof is not turned white; then the priest shall shut up the one that has the plague seven days; ⁵ and the priest shall look on him the seventh day and see if the plague in his sight is stayed and the plague is not spread in the skin, then the priest shall shut him up seven days the second time. ⁶ After this the priest shall look on him again the seventh day and see if the plague has darkened and that the plague is not spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is but a scab, and he shall wash his clothes and be clean. ⁷ But if the scab spreads much abroad in the skin after he has been shown unto the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen of the priest again; ⁸ and if the priest recognizes that the scab has spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is leprosy. ⁹ When the plague of leprosy is in a man, then he shall be brought unto the priest; ¹⁰ and the priest shall see him; and if the rising looks white in the skin and it has turned the hair white and there is quick raw flesh in the rising, ¹¹ it is an old leprosy in the skin of his flesh, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean and shall not shut him up, for he is unclean. ¹² But if the leprosy breaks out abroad in the skin and the leprosy covers all the skin of him that has the plague from his head even to his feet wherever the priest looks, ¹³ then the priest shall consider; and if the leprosy has covered all his flesh, he shall pronounce the one that has the plague clean; it is all turned white; he is clean. ¹⁴ But the day that raw flesh appears in him, he shall be unclean. ¹⁵ And the priest shall see the raw flesh and pronounce him to be unclean, for the raw flesh is unclean: it is leprosy. ¹⁶ But when the raw flesh turns again and is changed unto white, he shall come unto the priest; ¹⁷ and the priest shall see him; and if the plague is turned white; then the priest shall pronounce the one that has the plague clean, and he shall be clean. ¹⁸ ¶ And when in the flesh, in the skin thereof, there was a boil and is healed, ¹⁹ and in the place of the boil there is a white rising or a bright spot, white, and somewhat reddish, it shall be shown to the priest; ²⁰ and the priest shall look, and if it appears to be lower than the skin and the hair thereof is turned white; the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a plague of leprosy broken out of the boil. ²¹ But if the priest considers it and there appear to be no white hairs in it and it is not lower than the skin, but somewhat dark, then the priest shall shut him up seven days; ²² and if it spreads much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague. ²³ But if the bright spot stays in its place and does not spread, it is the scab of a boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. ²⁴ Likewise when the flesh has in its skin a burn from fire, and in the place healed from the burn there a white bright spot, somewhat reddish, or white, ²⁵ then the priest shall look upon it; and if the hair in the bright spot is turned white and it looks deeper than the skin, it is a leprosy broken out of the burn; and the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is the plague of leprosy. ²⁶ But if the priest looks on it and there is no white hair in the bright spot and it is no lower than the other skin, but dark, then the priest shall shut him up seven days; ²⁷ and the priest shall recognize it the seventh day; and if it is spread much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is the plague of leprosy. ²⁸ And if the bright spot stays in its place and has not spread in the skin, but it is dark, it is a rising of the burn; and the priest shall pronounce him clean, for it is an inflammation of the burn. ²⁹ If a man or woman has a plague upon the head or the beard, ³⁰ then the priest shall see the plague; and if it looks deeper than the skin and the hair in it is yellowish and thin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a dry scall, leprosy of the head or beard. ³¹ But when the priest looks on the plague of the scall and if it does not look deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, then the priest shall shut up the one that has the plague of the scall seven days; ³² and in the seventh day the priest shall look on the plague; and if the scall appears not to have spread and there is no yellowish hair in it and the scall appears not to be deeper than the skin, ³³ he shall be shaven, but the place of the scall he shall not shave; and the priest shall shut up the one that has the scall for seven days the second time. ³⁴ And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the scall; and if the scall is not spread in the skin nor in appearance deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; and he shall wash his clothes and be clean. ³⁵ But if the scall spreads much in the skin after his cleansing, ³⁶ then the priest shall look at it; and if the scall is spread in the skin, the priest shall not seek for yellowish hair; he is unclean. ³⁷ But if the scall appears to him to be stayed and there is black hair grown up in it, the scall is healed; he is clean; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. ³⁸ ¶ Likewise if a man or a woman has in the skin of their flesh bright spots, even white bright spots, ³⁹ the priest shall look; and if the bright spots in the skin of their flesh are darkish white, it is a freckled spot that grew in the skin; the person is clean. ⁴⁰ And the man whose hair has fallen off his head is bald; yet he is clean. ⁴¹ And if his hair has fallen off from the part of his head toward his face, he is forehead bald; yet is he clean. ⁴² But if in the bald head, or bald forehead, there is a white reddish sore, it is a leprosy sprung up in his bald head, or his bald forehead. ⁴³ Then the priest shall look upon it; and if the rising of the sore is white reddish in his bald head, or in his bald forehead, as the appearance of leprosy in the skin of the flesh, ⁴⁴ he is a leprous man, he is unclean; the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his plague is in his head.

¹ ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, ² This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest. ³ And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look and seeing that the plague of leprosy is healed in the leper, ⁴ the priest shall command to take for the one that is to be purified two birds, alive and clean, and cedar wood and scarlet and hyssop; ⁵ and the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel upon living water; ⁶ then he shall take the living bird and the cedar wood, and the scarlet and the hyssop and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the living water; ⁷ and he shall sprinkle upon the one that is to be purified from the leprosy seven times and shall pronounce him clean and shall let the living bird loose into the open field. ⁸ And he that is to be purified shall wash his clothes and shave off all his hair and wash himself with water, and he shall be clean; and after that he shall come into the camp and shall dwell outside of his tent seven days. ⁹ But it shall be that on the seventh day he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows; finally he shall shave off all his hair, and he shall wash his clothes; also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean. ¹⁰ ¶ And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish and three tenth deals of fine flour for a present, mingled with oil, and one log of oil. ¹¹ And the priest that purifies him shall present the one that is to be made clean with those things, before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony; ¹² and the priest shall take one he lamb and offer him for expiation of the guilt, with the log of oil, and wave them for a waved offering before the LORD. ¹³ And he shall slay the lamb in the place where they kill the sin and the burnt offering, in the place of the sanctuary, for that offered as sin is the priest’s, together with that offered as guilt; it is most holy. ¹⁴ And the priest shall take some of the blood of the expiation for the guilt, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of the one that is to be purified and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot. ¹⁵ Likewise the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand; ¹⁶ and the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD. ¹⁷ And of that which is left of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of the one that is to be purified and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the expiation for the guilt; ¹⁸ and that which is left of the oil that is in the priest’s hand, he shall pour upon the head of the one that is to be purified; and thus shall the priest reconcile him before the LORD. ¹⁹ And the priest shall offer the sin and reconcile the one that is to be purified from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering. ²⁰ And the priest shall cause the burnt offering and the present to be lifted upon the altar, and thus shall the priest reconcile him, and he shall be clean. ²¹ ¶ But if he is poor, and cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for expiation of the guilt to be waved, to reconcile himself, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a present, and a log of oil; ²² and two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and the one shall be as the sin, and the other as a burnt offering. ²³ And he shall bring these things on the eighth day of his purification unto the priest, unto the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, before the LORD. ²⁴ And the priest shall take the lamb of the expiation of the guilt, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them for a waved offering before the LORD; ²⁵ then he shall kill the lamb of the expiation of the guilt, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the expiation of the guilt and put it upon the tip of the right ear of the one that is to be purified and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot. ²⁶ And the priest shall pour of the oil into the palm of his own left hand, ²⁷ and the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before the LORD. ²⁸ The priest shall also put of the oil that is in his hand upon the tip of the right ear of the one that is to be purified and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot in the place of the blood of the expiation for the guilt. ²⁹ And what is left of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall put upon the head of the one that is to be purified, to reconcile him before the LORD. ³⁰ Likewise he shall offer one of the turtledoves or of the young pigeons, such as he can get, ³¹ one of such as he is able to get as sin, and the other for a burnt offering, with the present; and thus shall the priest reconcile the one that is to be purified before the LORD. ³² This is the law of the one who has had the plague of leprosy, whose hand is not able to get that which is prescribed for his purification.

¹⁴ Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

²⁴ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

¹⁵ And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now, for thus it is expedient for us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

³ And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. ⁴ Then Jesus said unto him, See thou tell no one; but go, show thyself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

¹⁴ And he charged him to tell no one. But go and show thyself to the priest and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

⁵ His mother said unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

⁵⁰ Jesus said unto him, Go; thy son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus spoke unto him, and he went. ⁵¹ And as he was now going down, his slaves met him and told him, saying, Thy son lives. ⁵² Then he enquired of them the hour when he began to get better. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. ⁵³ So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son lives; and he believed, and his whole house.

⁷ and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent). Then he went and washed and came back seeing.

¹⁰ But he who walks in the night stumbles because there is no light in him.

²⁴ ¶ In those days Hezekiah was sick unto the death and prayed to the LORD, who responded to him and gave him a sign. ²⁵ But Hezekiah did not render again according to the benefit done unto him, for his heart lifted itself up; therefore there was wrath against him and against Judah and Jerusalem. ²⁶ Notwithstanding, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

¹ A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. ¶ I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. ² O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

¹¹ Thou hast turned my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness; ¹² to the end that I may sing glory unto thee and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless the name of his holiness. ² Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: ³ Who forgives all thine iniquities; who heals all thy diseases; ⁴ who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowns thee with mercy and compassion;

²⁰ He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their graves. ²¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ²² And let them offer the sacrifices of praise and publish his works with singing.

¹² What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? ¹³ I will take the cup of saving health and invoke the name of the LORD. ¹⁴ I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people. ¹⁵ Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his merciful ones.

¹⁸ JAH has chastened me sore, but he has not given me over unto death. ¹⁹ ¶ Open unto me the gates of righteousness; I will go in through them; I will praise JAH.

¹⁹ He who lives, he who lives, even he shall confess thee, as I do this day; the father to the sons shall make known thy truth. ²⁰ The LORD is ready to save me: therefore we will sing our psalms in the house of the LORD all the days of our life. ²¹ Isaiah then said, Let them take a lump of figs and lay it for a plaster upon the boil and he shall be healed. ²² And Hezekiah had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?

⁸ And the multitude, seeing it, marvelled and glorified God, who had given such power unto men.

¹⁷ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? ¹⁸ Were there not found any returning to give glory to God, except this stranger?

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole; sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

³⁸ And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

³ And Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying,

¹¹ And entering into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother; and falling down, they worshipped him; and opening their treasures, they offered him gifts: gold and frankincense and myrrh.

⁵ ¶ These twelve Jesus sent forth and commanded them, saying, Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter into any city of the Samaritans,

³³ But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him and told him all the truth.

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down on his knees before Jesus, saying, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.

⁵² and sent messengers before his face; and they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for him. ⁵³ And they did not receive him because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. ⁵⁴ And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did? ⁵⁵ But he turned and rebuked them and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. ⁵⁶ For the Son of man is not come to lose men’s souls, but to save them. And they went to another village.

³² And likewise a Levite, when he came near the place and looked on him, he passed by on the other side. ³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion ³⁴ and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. ³⁵ And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two denarius and gave them to the host and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

⁹ Then said the Samaritan woman unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

²¹ Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem shall ye worship the Father. ²² Ye worship what ye know not; we worship what we know, for saving health is of the Jews.

³⁹ And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in him by the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all that I have done. ⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they asked him to abide with them; and he abode there two days. ⁴¹ And many more believed by his own word ⁴² and said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speech; for we have heard him ourselves and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

²³ that everyone should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who has sent him.

⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered, and said unto him, Do we not say well that thou art a Samaritan and hast a demon?

⁸ But ye shall receive the virtue of the Holy Spirit which shall come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

⁵ Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached the Christ unto them. ⁶ And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the signs which he did. ⁷ For many unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of those who were possessed with them, and many paralytics and that were lame were healed. ⁸ And there was great joy in that city. ⁹ But there was a certain man called Simon, who before this in the same city used magic arts and amazed the people of Samaria, giving out that he himself was some great one, ¹⁰ to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This is the great virtue of God. ¹¹ And to him they had regard because for a long time he had amazed them with magic arts. ¹² But when they believed Philip preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. ¹³ Then Simon himself believed also; and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were being done. ¹⁴ ¶ Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John unto them, ¹⁵ who, when they were come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. ¹⁶ (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them; they were baptized only in the name of the Lord Jesus.) ¹⁷ Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. ¹⁸ And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, ¹⁹ saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit. ²⁰ But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. ²¹ Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter, for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. ²² Repent therefore of this thy wickedness and pray God, if perhaps this thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. ²³ For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness and in the prison of iniquity. ²⁴ Then Simon answered and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me. ²⁵ And they, when they had testified and preached the word of God, returned to Jerusalem and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

²⁵ And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him. ²⁶ But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

¹⁰ the twenty-four elders fall down before him that is seated on the throne and worship him that lives for ever and ever and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

¹⁴ And the four animals said, Amen. And the twenty-four elders fell on their faces and worshipped him that lives for ever and ever.

⁴ And the twenty-four elders and the four animals fell upon their faces and worshipped God that was seated upon the throne, saying, Amen! Halelu-JAH! ⁵ ¶ And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his slaves and ye that fear him, both small and great.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant and with thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus; worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

⁹ ¶ And the LORD God called unto the man and said unto him, Where art thou?

¹³ ¶ They became rash. They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel:

⁷ So when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him be the first to cast a stone at her. ⁸ And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. ⁹ And those who heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest even unto the last; and Jesus was left alone and the woman that had been in the midst. ¹⁰ Jesus, lifting himself up and seeing no one but the woman, said unto her, Woman, where are thine accusers? Has no one condemned thee?

²¹ because having known God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. ² Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

²³ Whosoever sacrifices praise glorifies me; and to him that orders his ways aright I will show the salvation of God.

¹² Let them give glory unto the LORD and declare his praise in the islands.

¹⁰ When Jesus heard it, he marvelled and said to those that followed, Verily I say unto you that not even in Israel have I found such faith.

¹² But the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²⁴ But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. ²⁵ Then she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. ²⁶ But he answered and said, It is not good to take the children’s bread and to cast it to the little dogs. ²⁷ And she said, Yes, Lord, yet the little dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. ²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith; be it unto thee even as thou desire. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

³⁰ But many that are first shall be last, and many of the last shall be first.

¹⁶ So the first shall be last, and the last first; for many are called, but few are chosen.

⁷ saying with a loud voice, Fear God and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come; and worship him that has made the heaven and the earth and the sea and the fountains of waters.

²² But Jesus turned around, and when he saw her, he said, Trust, daughter; thy faith has made thee free. And the woman was free from that hour.

³⁴ And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith has made thee saved; go in peace and remain whole of thy plague.

⁵² And Jesus said unto him, Go; thy faith has saved thee. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way.

⁵⁰ And he said to the woman, Thy faith has saved thee; go in peace.

⁴⁸ And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith has made thee whole; go in peace.

⁴² And Jesus said unto him, See; thy faith has saved thee.

⁴⁴ And in the days of those kings the God of heaven shall raise up a kingdom which eternally shall never become corrupted, and this kingdom shall not be left to another people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

⁶ Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, said the LORD of the hosts.

¹¹ Even the very dust of your city which cleaves on us we do wipe off against you; notwithstanding be ye sure of this that the kingdom of God is come near unto you.

¹⁶ The law and the prophets were until John; since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and whosoever will presses into it.

²³ And they shall say to you, Behold it here, or, Behold it there; do not go, nor follow them. ²⁴ For as the lightning, which shines from the region under heaven, shines in that which is under heaven; so also shall the Son of man be in his day.

¹¹ ¶ And as they heard these things, he added and spoke a parable because he was near to Jerusalem and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately be manifested.

³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews; now, therefore, my kingdom is not from here.

⁶ ¶ Then those that were come together asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? ⁷ And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put under his authority only.

²⁸ But if I cast out the demons by the Spirit of God, then certainly the kingdom of God is come unto you.

²³ Then if any man shall say unto you, Behold, here is the Christ, or there, believe it not. ²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders in such a manner that they shall deceive, if possible, the very elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you before. ²⁶ Therefore if they say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; Behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not. ²⁷ For as the lightning that comes out of the east and shines even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ²⁸ For wherever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

²¹ And then if anyone should say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or, Behold, he is there, do not believe him;

⁹ and heal the sick that are therein and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come near unto you. ¹⁰ But into whatever city ye enter and they receive you not, go out into the streets of the same and say, ¹¹ Even the very dust of your city which cleaves on us we do wipe off against you; notwithstanding be ye sure of this that the kingdom of God is come near unto you.

²³ And they shall say to you, Behold it here, or, Behold it there; do not go, nor follow them.

⁸ Then he said, Take heed that ye not be deceived, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am; and the time draws near; therefore, go ye not after them.

²⁶ John answered them, saying, I baptize with water, but there stands one among you, whom ye know not;

¹⁷ for the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

²⁷ to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery in the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory,

¹⁵ And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they shall fast.

²⁰ But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days.

³⁵ But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

³⁵ Behold, your house is left unto you desolate; and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me until the time comes when ye shall say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.

³³ Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I shall be with you, and then I shall go unto him that sent me. ³⁴ Ye shall seek me and shall not find me, and where I shall be, ye shall not be able to come. ³⁵ Then the Jews said among themselves, Where will he go that we shall not find him? Will he go unto the dispersed among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? ³⁶ What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me and shall not find me, and where I shall be ye shall not be able to come?

²¹ ¶ Then Jesus said again unto them, I am going away, and ye shall seek me, but ye shall die in your sins; where I go, ye shall not be able to come. ²² Then the Jews said, Will he kill himself? because he says, Where I go, ye shall not be able to come. ²³ And he said unto them, Ye are from below, I am from above; ye are of this world, I am not of this world. ²⁴ Therefore I said unto you that ye shall die in your sins, for if ye do not believe that I AM, ye shall die in your sins.

³⁵ Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the Light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you; for he that walks in darkness does not know where he goes.

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me; and as I said unto the Jews, Where I go, ye cannot come, so now I say to you.

⁵ But now I go unto him that sent me, and none of you asks me, Where goest thou? ⁶ But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow has filled your heart. ⁷ ¶ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

¹⁶ ¶ A little while, and ye shall not see me; and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. ¹⁷ Then some of his disciples said among themselves, What is this that he says unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me; and again, a little while, and ye shall see me; and, Because I go to the Father? ¹⁸ They said therefore, What is this that he says, A little while? we cannot understand what he says. ¹⁹ Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of what I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me; and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? ²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, and the world shall rejoice; but even though ye shall be sorrowful, your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ The woman, when she is in travail, has pain, because her hour is come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers the anguish no more, for joy that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no one shall take your joy from you.

¹¹ ¶ And now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, those whom thou hast given me, keep them in thy name, that they may be one, as we are. ¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name; those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled. ¹³ And now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

²³ Then if any man shall say unto you, Behold, here is the Christ, or there, believe it not. ²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders in such a manner that they shall deceive, if possible, the very elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you before. ²⁶ Therefore if they say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; Behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not.

²¹ And then if anyone should say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or, Behold, he is there, do not believe him; ²² for false Christs and false prophets shall rise and shall show signs and wonders to seduce, if possible, even the elect. ²³ But take ye heed; behold, I have told you everything beforehand.

²¹ neither shall they say, Behold it here! or, Behold it there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

³ He shall place it straight under the whole of the heavens, and his light shall extend unto the ends of the earth. ⁴ After it shall the sound roar; his valiant voice shall thunder; and he will not stay them even when his voice is heard.

¹⁴ And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the shofar and shall go forth as the whirlwinds of the south.

¹ ¶ Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me; and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, and the angel of the covenant, whom ye desire: behold, he comes, said the LORD of the hosts. ² But who may abide the time of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he shall be like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap:

¹ ¶ For, behold, the day comes that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of the hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. ² But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness be born, and in his wings he shall bring saving health; and ye shall go forth and jump like calves of the herd.

²⁷ For as the lightning that comes out of the east and shines even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³⁰ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory.

³¹ ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory and all the holy angels with him, then he shall sit upon the throne of his glory,

⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, Thou hast said it; nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power and coming in the clouds of heaven.

² For ye know well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night.

² that ye not be easily shaken in understanding or be troubled neither by spirit nor by word nor by letter as from us, as if the day of Christ is at hand.

⁸ And then shall that Wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of his mouth and remove with the clarity of his coming:

⁸ Be ye also patient and confirm your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws near.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements, burning, shall be dissolved, and the earth and the works that are in it shall be burned up.

⁷ And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee, for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me that I should not reign over them.

¹⁹ But ye have this day rejected your God, who saves you out of all your afflictions and your troubles, and ye have said unto him, No, but set a king over us. Now, therefore, present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your thousands.

³ He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

²¹ ¶ From that time forth Jesus began to declare unto his disciples, how it was expedient for him to go unto Jerusalem and to suffer many things of the elders and the princes of the priests and of the scribes and to be killed and to be raised again the third day.

²² ¶ And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men; ²³ and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

¹⁸ Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the princes of the priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death ¹⁹ and shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify; {Gr. stauroo – Hang on a stake}; and the third day he shall rise again.

⁴² Jesus said unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

³¹ And he began to teach them that it was convenient that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the princes of the priests and of the scribes, and be killed and after three days rise again.

³¹ For he went on teaching his disciples and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after he is dead, he shall rise the third day.

³³ saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the princes of the priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death and shall deliver him to the Gentiles,

¹⁰ And have ye not read this scripture: The stone which the builders rejected is placed as the head of the corner;

²² saying, The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the princes of the priests and scribes and be slain and be raised the third day.

³¹ ¶ Then he took unto him the twelve and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

³³ and they shall scourge him and put him to death, but the third day he shall rise again.

²⁵ Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken; ²⁶ ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter (like this) into his glory?

⁴⁶ and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day;

¹¹ He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

³⁸ that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who shall believe our report? and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

⁵ And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

⁷ And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast and the animals and the fowls of the air; for I repent of having made them.

⁷ And Noah went in and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him into the ark because of the waters of the flood. ⁸ Of clean animals and of animals that are not clean and of fowls and of every thing that moves upon the earth, ⁹ there went in two by two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah. ¹⁰ And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. ¹¹ ¶ In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of the heavens were opened. ¹² And there was rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights. ¹³ ¶ In that same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them entered into the ark, ¹⁴ they and every animal after its kind and all the beasts after their kind and every creeping thing that moves upon the earth after its kind and every fowl after its kind, every bird, every thing with wings. ¹⁵ And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two by two of all flesh in which is the spirit of life. ¹⁶ And those that went in went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him, and the LORD shut him in. ¹⁷ ¶ And the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters multiplied and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. ¹⁸ And the waters prevailed and multiplied greatly upon the earth, and the ark went upon the face of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth, and all the high mountains that were under all the heavens were covered. ²⁰ Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail, and the mountains were covered. ²¹ ¶ And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl and of beasts and of animals and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth and every man; ²² all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life of all that was in the dry land died. ²³ And every substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man and cattle and the animals and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth, and only Noah remained alive and those that were with him in the ark.

¹⁵ ¶ Dost thou desire to keep the old way which wicked men have trodden? ¹⁶ Who were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood. ¹⁷ Who said unto God, Depart from us; and what can the Almighty do unto us? ¹⁸ He had filled their houses with good things. Therefore, the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ³⁸ For as they were in the days before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, ³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

²² And he said unto the disciples, The days will come when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

²⁴ For as the lightning, which shines from the region under heaven, shines in that which is under heaven; so also shall the Son of man be in his day.

⁸ I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?

⁷ By faith Noah, having received revelation of things not seen as yet, with great care prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by which he condemned the world and was made heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

¹⁹ in which he also went and preached unto the imprisoned spirits, ²⁰ which in the time past were disobedient, when once the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being made ready, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

⁵ and if he did not forgive the old world, but kept Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven other persons, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

⁶ by which the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished;

¹⁰ And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it unto thee: great and goodly cities, which thou didst not build, ¹¹ and houses full of all good things, which thou didst not fill, and hewn out wells, which thou didst not dig, vineyards and olive trees, which thou didst not plant; when thou shalt have eaten and be full, ¹² then beware lest thou forget the LORD, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

¹² lest peradventure when thou hast eaten and art full and hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein, ¹³ and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied and all that thou hast is multiplied, ¹⁴ then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery,

³⁶ ¶ And Abigail came to Nabal, and, behold, he held a banquet in his house like the banquet of a king; and Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken; therefore, she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light. ³⁷ But it came to pass in the morning when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. ³⁸ And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, and he died.

⁹ Their houses are safe from fear; neither is the rod of God upon them. ¹⁰ Their cows conceive, and do not abort; their cows calve and do not cast forth their young. ¹¹ They send forth their little ones like a flock of sheep, and their children dance. ¹² They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ. ¹³ They spend their days in pleasure and in a moment go down to Sheol.

⁴ My heart panted; the horror frightened me; the night of my pleasure he has turned into fear unto me.

¹² Therefore the Lord GOD of the hosts did call in this day unto weeping and to mourning and to baldness and to girding with sackcloth: ¹³ And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine while they say, let us eat and drink for tomorrow we shall die. ¹⁴ This was revealed in my ears by the LORD of the hosts, That surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you until ye die, saith the Lord GOD of the hosts.

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast many goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. ²⁰ But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast stored up?

¹⁹ ¶ There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day; ²⁰ and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores ²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. ²² And it came to pass that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom; the rich man also died and was buried; ²³ and in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom.

¹ ¶ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. ² For ye know well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

¹³ But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

²⁰ And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great and because their sin is very grievous; ²¹ I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

¹ ¶ And the two angels came to Sodom at evening; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom, and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground, ² and he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your slave’s house and tarry all night and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early and go on your ways. And they said, No, but we will abide in the street all night. ³ And he pressed upon them greatly, and they turned in unto him and entered into his house, and he made them a banquet and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. ⁴ ¶ But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter; ⁵ and they called unto Lot and said unto him, Where are the men who came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us that we may know them. ⁶ And Lot went out at the door unto them and shut the door after him ⁷ and said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. ⁸ Behold now, I have two daughters who have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you and do ye to them as is good in your eyes; only unto these men do nothing, for they have come under the shadow of my roof. ⁹ And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This fellow came in to sojourn and is he to lift himself up as judge? Now will we deal worse with thee than with them. And they did great violence to the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. ¹⁰ Then the men put forth their hand and pulled Lot into the house with them and shut the door. ¹¹ And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great so that they wearied themselves to find the door. ¹² ¶ And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou anyone else here? Sons-in-law and thy sons and thy daughters and whatever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place; ¹³ For we will destroy this place because the cry of them is waxed great before the face of the LORD, and the LORD has sent us to destroy it. ¹⁴ And Lot went out and spoke unto his sons-in-law, those who were to marry his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons-in-law. ¹⁵ ¶ And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife and thy two daughters who are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. ¹⁶ And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand and upon the hand of his wife and upon the hand of his two daughters, the LORD being merciful unto him; and they brought him forth and set him outside the city. ¹⁷ And it came to pass as they brought them forth outside, that he said, Escape; for thy soul, do not look behind thee, neither stop thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. ¹⁸ And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my lords; ¹⁹ behold now, thy slave has found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast showed unto me in saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die. ²⁰ Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one; Oh, let me escape there, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. ²¹ And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also that I will not overthrow the city for which thou hast spoken. ²² Make thee haste, escape there; for I cannot do anything until thou hast arrived there. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. ²³ The sun was rising upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. ²⁴ ¶ Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of the heavens; ²⁵ and he overthrew those cities and all that plain, with all the inhabitants of those cities, and the fruit of the ground. ²⁶ ¶ Then the wife of Lot looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. ²⁷ ¶ And Abraham rose up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the LORD. ²⁸ And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of that plain and beheld that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.

⁴⁹ Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the afflicted and needy. ⁵⁰ And they filled themselves with arrogance and committed abomination before me, and when I saw it, I took them away.

¹ ¶ Come now, Oh ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are rotten, and your garments are motheaten. ³ Your gold and silver is corrupted with rust; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you and shall completely eat your flesh, as fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. ⁴ Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped your fields (which you have kept back by fraud) cries out; and the cries of those who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of the hosts. ⁵ Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth and been wanton; ye have refreshed your hearts, as in the day of slaughter of sacrifices.

²³ and that the whole land thereof is brimstone and salt and burning, that it is not sown, nor shall it produce anything, nor shall any grass grow therein, like in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger and in his wrath; ²⁴ even all Gentiles shall say, Why has the LORD done thus unto this land? What means the heat of this great anger? ²⁵ Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt;

⁹ Except the LORD of the hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

¹⁹ ¶ And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

⁴⁰ As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

⁸ ¶ How must I leave thee, Ephraim? how shall I give thee up, Israel? how could I make thee as Admah? nor set thee as Zeboim? my heart churns within me; all my compassion is inflamed.

¹¹ I have overthrown some of you as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the fire; and ye never returned unto me, said the LORD.

⁹ Therefore as I live, said the LORD of the hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom and the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah, even a field of nettles and saltpits and a perpetual desolation; the remnant of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my Gentiles shall inherit them.

²³ And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to Hades, for if the mighty works which have been done in thee had been done in those of Sodom, it would have remained until this day. ²⁴ Therefore I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for thee.

⁶ and if he condemned by destruction the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha, turning them into ashes, making them an example unto those that after should live without fear and reverence of God;

⁷ Even as Sodom and Gomorrha and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication and going after strange flesh, were set forth for an example, having received the judgment of eternal fire.

⁸ And their dead bodies shall lie in the streets of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward everyone according to their works.

³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the age?

²⁷ For as the lightning that comes out of the east and shines even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ²⁸ For wherever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. ²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken, ³⁰ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory. ³¹ And he shall send his angels with a trumpet and a great voice, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

²⁶ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

²⁷ And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with excess and drunkenness and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. ³⁵ For as a snare it shall come on all those that dwell on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watch ye therefore and pray always that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of man.

⁷ so that ye lack nothing in any gift, waiting for the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁷ and to give you, who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power,

⁷ that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold (which perishes, nevertheless it is tried with fire), might be found unto praise and glory and honour when Jesus, the Christ, is made manifest;

¹³ ¶ Therefore, having the loins of your understanding girded with temperance, wait perfectly in the grace that is presented unto you when Jesus, the Christ, is manifested unto you,

¹³ but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of the afflictions of the Christ, so that also in the revelation of his glory, ye may rejoice in triumph.

⁷ Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him and those also who pierced him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail over him. Even so, Amen.

⁴ And Satan answered the LORD and said, Skin for skin, all that a man has he will give for his life.

⁵ And dost thou seek great things for thyself? seek them not; for, behold, I bring evil upon all flesh, said the LORD: but I will give thee thy life as a spoil of battle in all places where thou goest.

²⁵ ¶ Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink, nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?

²⁶ For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

¹⁷ let him who is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house, ¹⁸ neither let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes. ¹⁹ And woe unto those that are with child and to those that give suck in those days! ²⁰ But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter neither on the sabbath day, ²¹ for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

¹⁴ ¶ But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation (spoken of by Daniel the prophet) standing where it ought not, he that reads, let him understand, then let those that are in Judaea flee to the mountains; ¹⁵ and let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein to take any thing out of his house; ¹⁶ and let him that is in the field not turn back again even to take up his garment.

²¹ Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the midst of it depart out, and let not those that are in the country enter thereinto.

⁷ But those things which were gain to me, I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ And doubtless I even count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ

¹⁷ And it came to pass as they brought them forth outside, that he said, Escape; for thy soul, do not look behind thee, neither stop thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

²⁶ ¶ Then the wife of Lot looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

⁶ ¶ Now these things became types of us, that we should not lust after evil things as they lusted. ⁷ Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play. ⁸ Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed and fell dead: in one day, twenty-three thousand. ⁹ Neither let us tempt the Christ, as some of them also tempted and perished by the serpents. ¹⁰ Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured and perished by the destroyer. ¹¹ Now all these things happened unto them as types, and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come. ¹² Therefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

³⁸ Now the just shall live by faith, but if any man draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. ³⁹ But we are not of those who draw back unto perdition, but faithful unto the saving of the soul.

¹⁸ For speaking arrogant words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from those who converse in error, ¹⁹ promising them liberty, being they themselves the slaves of corruption: for he who is overcome by someone is subject to bondage by the one that overcame him. ²⁰ Certainly, if having separated themselves from the contaminations of the world, by the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they again entangle themselves therein and are overcome, their latter end is made worse for them than the beginnings. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ²² But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog returns unto his own vomit, and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

³⁹ He that finds his life shall lose it, and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.

²⁵ For whosoever desires to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

³⁵ For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. ³⁶ For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? ³⁷ Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

²⁴ For whosoever desires to save his soul shall lose it, but whosoever will lose his soul for my sake, the same shall save it. ²⁵ For what is a man advantaged if he gains the whole world, having destroyed himself or having suffered the loss of himself?

²⁵ He that loves his life shall lose it, and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer; behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

⁹ Gather not my soul with the sinners, nor my life with those who have blood on their hands:

³ Do not catch me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbours, but evil is in their hearts.

⁹ Behold, the former things are come to pass, and I declare new things: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

⁴ and the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry out because of all the abominations that are done in the midst of her. ⁵ ¶ And to the others he said in my hearing, Go after him through the city and smite; do not let your eye forgive, neither have mercy. ⁶ Slay the old, the young men, and the virgins, the children and the women, but do not come near anyone upon whom is the mark; and ye must begin from my sanctuary. Then they began with the men, the elders, which were in front of the temple.

¹⁶ Then those that feared the LORD spoke one to another, and the LORD hearkened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for those that feared the LORD and for those that think in his name. ¹⁷ And they shall be mine, said the LORD of the hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him. ¹⁸ Therefore become ye converted, and ye shall make a difference between the just and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that did not serve him.

²⁵ Behold, I have told you before.

⁴⁰ Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left. ⁴¹ Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.

²³ But take ye heed; behold, I have told you everything beforehand.

²⁹ Then Peter said unto him, Although all be scandalized, yet I will not.

³ I tell you, No; but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

⁵ I tell you, No; but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

²⁴ Strive to enter in at the narrow gate; for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in and shall not be able.

⁴ But what did the answer of God say unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee before Baal. ⁵ Even so then at this present time also, there is a remnant by the gracious election of God. ⁶ And if by grace, then is it not by works; otherwise, the grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace; otherwise, the work is no longer work. ⁷ What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks after; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded

¹⁶ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; ¹⁷ then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

⁹ the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished;

⁵ and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sits upon his throne even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill and all the firstborn of beasts.

²¹ But the Philistines took hold of him and put out his eyes and brought him down to Gaza and bound him with fetters of iron that he should grind in the prison house.

⁴¹ Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.

²⁹ From there she seeks food, and her eyes behold afar off. ³⁰ Her young ones suck up the blood; and wherever the slain are, there she is.

²⁶ And after the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One {Heb. Messiah} shall be killed and shall have nothing: (and the ruling people that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; whose end shall be as a flood, until at the end of the war it shall be cut off with desolation). ²⁷ In one week (they are now seventy) he shall confirm the covenant by many: and at the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and because of the many abominations, desolation shall come, even until complete destruction shall be poured out upon the abominable people.

¹ ¶ I saw the Lord standing upon the altar, and he said, Smite the threshold and shake the doors and cut the head of them all into pieces; and I will slay the last of them with the sword; there shall be none of them left to flee away or to escape. ² Though they dig unto Sheol, from there shall my hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, from there I will bring them down; ³ and though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out of there; and though they hide from my sight in the bottom of the sea, from there will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: ⁴ and though they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set my eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

⁸ And it shall come to pass that in all the land, said the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off in her and shall be lost; but the third shall be left therein. ⁹ And I will put the third part into the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; He shall call on my name, and I will hear him; I will say, My people, and he shall say, The LORD is my God.

² For I will gather all the Gentiles against Jerusalem in battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

²⁸ For wherever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up the measure of their sins always, for the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost.

¹⁷ And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that flew in the midst of the heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God, ¹⁸ that ye may eat flesh of kings and flesh of captains, and flesh of mighty men and flesh of horses and of those that sit on them and the flesh of everyone, free and bond, both small and great.
