¹ ¶ And he looked up and saw the rich casting their gifts into the treasury. ² And he saw also a certain poor widow casting two mites in there. ³ And he said, Of a truth I say unto you that this poor widow has cast in more than they all; ⁴ for all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God, but she out of her poverty has cast in all the living that she had. ⁵ ¶ And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, ⁶ As for these things which ye behold, the days will come in which there shall not be left one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down. ⁷ And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall begin to come to pass? ⁸ Then he said, Take heed that ye not be deceived, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am; and the time draws near; therefore, go ye not after them. ⁹ But when ye shall hear of wars and seditions, be not terrified; for these things must first come to pass, but the end is not yet. ¹⁰ Then he said unto them, Gentiles shall rise against Gentiles, and kingdom against kingdom; ¹¹ and there shall be great earthquakes in different places and famines and pestilences, and there shall be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. ¹² But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and into prisons, being brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. ¹³ And it shall turn out to you for a testimony. ¹⁴ Settle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate before what ye shall answer; ¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. ¹⁶ And ye shall be betrayed both by parents and brethren and kinsfolk and friends, and some of you they shall cause to be put to death. ¹⁷ And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. ¹⁸ But not a hair of your head shall perish. ¹⁹ In your patience ye shall possess your souls. ²⁰ ¶ And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is near. ²¹ Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the midst of it depart out, and let not those that are in the country enter thereinto. ²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. ²³ But woe unto those that are with child and to those that give suck in those days! For there shall be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. ²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword and shall be led away captive into all nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. ²⁵ Then there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ²⁶ men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. ²⁷ And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. ²⁸ And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near. ²⁹ ¶ And he spoke unto them a parable: Behold the fig tree and all the trees; ³⁰ when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now near at hand. ³¹ So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is near at hand. ³² Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away until all is fulfilled. ³³ The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. ³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with excess and drunkenness and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. ³⁵ For as a snare it shall come on all those that dwell on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watch ye therefore and pray always that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of man. ³⁷ And in the daytime he was teaching in the temple, and at night he went out and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. ³⁸ And all the people came unto him early in the morning to hear him in the temple.

¹⁹ For all the silver and gold and vessels of brass and iron are consecrated unto the LORD; they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.

²⁴ And they burnt the city with fire and all that was in it; only the silver and the gold and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.

²⁶ And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house; he took it all away, and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

¹³ And he carried out of there all the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon, king of Israel, had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.

¹⁸ Likewise, all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.

¹³ And I made treasurers over the store houses, Shelemiah, the priest, and Zadok, the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah; and next to them was Hanan, the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah; for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.

⁶ And the princes of the priests taking the silver pieces, said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury because it is the price of blood.

¹¹ But ye say, It is enough if a man shall say to his father or mother, It is all Corban, (that is to say, my gift to God) whatever with which thou mightest be profited by me. ¹² And ye suffer him to do no more for his father or for his mother, ¹³ invalidating the word of God with your tradition, which ye have given; and many such like things do ye.

⁴¹ ¶ And with Jesus sitting in front of the ark of the offering, he beheld how the people cast money into the ark and many that were rich cast in much. ⁴² And as there came a certain poor widow, she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. ⁴³ Then calling his disciples, he said unto them, Verily I say unto you that this poor widow has cast more in than all those who have cast into the treasury, ⁴⁴ for they all did cast in of their abundance, but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

²⁰ Jesus spoke these words in the treasury as he taught in the temple, and no one laid hands on him, for his hour was not yet come.

⁴² And as there came a certain poor widow, she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

²¹ And they came, every man whose heart stirred him up, and every one whose spirit made them willing, and they brought the LORD’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of the testimony and for all his service and for the holy garments. ²² And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought chains and earrings, rings and bracelets, and all jewels of gold; and anyone that offered an offering of gold unto the LORD. ²³ Every man who had blue or purple or scarlet or fine linen or goats’ hair or red skins of rams or badgers’ skins brought them. ²⁴ Anyone that offered an offering of silver or brass brought the offering unto the LORD; and every man, with whom was found cedar wood, brought it for all the work of the service. ²⁵ And all the women that were wise hearted spun with their hands and brought that which they had spun: blue or purple or scarlet or fine linen. ²⁶ And all the women whose heart lifted them up in wisdom spun goats’ hair. ²⁷ And the princes brought onyx stones and the stones to be set for the ephod and for the pectoral; ²⁸ and aromatic spice and oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the aromatic incense. ²⁹ Of the sons of Israel, men and women, all that had a willing heart to bring for all the work, which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses, brought a voluntary offering unto the LORD.

⁸ She has done what she could, for she has anticipated anointing my body for the burial. ⁹ Verily I say unto you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

²⁵ But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land,

²⁷ But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they see the kingdom of God.

⁴⁴ Of a truth I say unto you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.

²⁷ For of a truth against thy holy servant Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together (in this city),

³⁴ ¶ Then Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons;

² how that in a great trial of tribulation the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. ³ For to their power, I bear record, and even beyond their power they were willing of themselves,

¹² For if there is first a willing desire, it is accepted according to what a person has and not according to what they do not have.

⁶ ¶ But this I say, He who sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he who sows in blessings shall also reap blessings. ⁷ Each one according as they purpose in their heart, so let them give, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

⁴³ And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians but could not be healed by any,

¹² and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of the estate that falls to me. And he divided unto them his living.

⁴⁴ And all that believed were together and had all things common ⁴⁵ and sold their possessions and property and distributed them to everyone, as each one had need.

³⁴ Neither was there any among them that lacked, for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them and brought the prices of the things that were sold

¹ ¶ And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple. ² And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down. ³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the age? ⁴ ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no one deceive you. ⁵ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many. ⁶ And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that ye be not troubled, for it is necessary that all these things must take place; but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places. ⁸ All these are the beginning of sorrows. ⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many be offended and shall betray one another and shall hate one another. ¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. ¹² And because lawlessness shall abound, the charity of many shall wax cold. ¹³ But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. ¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come. ¹⁵ Therefore, when ye see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, which shall stand in the holy place (whosoever reads, let him understand), ¹⁶ then let those who are in Judaea flee into the mountains; ¹⁷ let him who is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house, ¹⁸ neither let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes. ¹⁹ And woe unto those that are with child and to those that give suck in those days! ²⁰ But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter neither on the sabbath day, ²¹ for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. ²² And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. ²³ Then if any man shall say unto you, Behold, here is the Christ, or there, believe it not. ²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders in such a manner that they shall deceive, if possible, the very elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you before. ²⁶ Therefore if they say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; Behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not. ²⁷ For as the lightning that comes out of the east and shines even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ²⁸ For wherever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. ²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken, ³⁰ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory. ³¹ And he shall send his angels with a trumpet and a great voice, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. ³² ¶ Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh; ³³ so likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. ³⁴ Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled. ³⁵ The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. ³⁶ But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angels of the heavens, but my Father only. ³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ³⁸ For as they were in the days before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, ³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ⁴⁰ Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left. ⁴¹ Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left. ⁴² Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. ⁴³ But know this that if the husband of the house knew in what watch the thief would come, he would watch and would not suffer his house to be broken into. ⁴⁴ Therefore be ye also ready; the Son of man is to come in the hour that ye think not. ⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and prudent slave, whom his lord has made ruler over his household to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that slave whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing. ⁴⁷ Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. ⁴⁸ But and if that evil slave shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming, ⁴⁹ and shall begin to smite his fellowslaves and even to eat and drink with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that slave shall come in a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of ⁵¹ and shall cut him off and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

There shall not be left one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down. ³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, ⁴ Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all things are to be finished? ⁵ ¶ And Jesus, answering them, began to say, Take heed that no one deceive you, ⁶ for many shall come in my name, saying, I Am Christ, and shall deceive many. ⁷ And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled, for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. ⁸ For people shall rise against people and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in each place, and there shall be famines and troubles: these shall be the beginnings of sorrows. ⁹ But take heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up in the councils, and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten; and ye shall be called before rulers and kings for my sake for a testimony unto them. ¹⁰ And the gospel needs to be preached unto all the Gentiles first. ¹¹ But when they shall bring you to deliver you up, do not premeditate beforehand what ye shall speak, neither think ye regarding it, but whatever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye, for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit. ¹² Now the brother shall deliver the brother unto death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents and shall kill them. ¹³ And ye shall be hated by everyone for my name, but he that shall persevere unto the end, the same shall be saved. ¹⁴ ¶ But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation (spoken of by Daniel the prophet) standing where it ought not, he that reads, let him understand, then let those that are in Judaea flee to the mountains; ¹⁵ and let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein to take any thing out of his house; ¹⁶ and let him that is in the field not turn back again even to take up his garment. ¹⁷ But woe to those that are with child and to those that give suck in those days! ¹⁸ Pray, therefore, that your flight not be in winter. ¹⁹ For those days shall be of affliction such as never was from the beginning of the creation of the things which God created unto this time, neither shall be. ²⁰ And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved, but for the elect’s sake, whom he has chosen, he has shortened those days. ²¹ And then if anyone should say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or, Behold, he is there, do not believe him; ²² for false Christs and false prophets shall rise and shall show signs and wonders to seduce, if possible, even the elect. ²³ But take ye heed; behold, I have told you everything beforehand. ²⁴ ¶ But in those days after that affliction, the sun shall darken, and the moon shall not give her light, ²⁵ and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens shall be shaken. ²⁶ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. ²⁷ And then shall he send his angels and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth unto the uttermost part of the heaven. ²⁸ ¶ Learn the similitude from the fig tree: When her branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is near; ²⁹ so ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is near, even at the doors. ³⁰ Verily I say unto you that this generation shall not pass until all these things are done. ³¹ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. ³² But of that day and that hour no one knows, no, not even the angels who are in the heaven, neither the Son, but only the Father. ³³ Take ye heed, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time shall be. ³⁴ As the man who, taking a far journey, left his house and gave his estate to his slaves and to each one his responsibility and commanded the porter to watch. ³⁵ Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the Lord of the house comes: at evening or at midnight or at the cockcrowing or in the morning, ³⁶ lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say unto you, I say unto all: Watch.

²⁰ Then said the Jews, This temple was forty-six years in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?

⁷ I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them, and this house, which I have sanctified unto my name, I will cast out of my sight, and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples; ⁸ and at this house, which was high, any one that passes by it shall be astonished and shall hiss, and they shall say, Why has the LORD done thus unto this land and to this house? ⁹ And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt and have taken hold upon other gods and have worshipped them and served them; for this the LORD has brought upon them all this evil.

²⁰ I will pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, I will cast out of my presence, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all peoples. ²¹ And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passes by it, so that they shall say, Why has the LORD done thus unto this land and unto this house? ²² And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshipped them and served them; therefore, he has brought all this evil upon them.

¹⁰ Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. ¹¹ Our house of our Sanctuary and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, was burned up with fire; and all our precious things were destroyed.

¹¹ Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, said the LORD. ¹² But go now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel. ¹³ And now because ye have done all these works, said the LORD and I spoke well unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye did not hear; and I called you, but ye did not answer; ¹⁴ therefore I will do unto this house, which is called by my name, in which ye trust, and unto this place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

⁶ then I will make this house like Shiloh and will give this city as a curse to all the Gentiles of the earth.

⁹ Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

¹⁸ Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the temple mount as the high places of a forest.

⁶ Vau And he has violently taken away his tabernacle as if it were of a garden; he has destroyed his congregation; the LORD has caused the solemnities and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion and has rejected in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest. ⁷ Zain The Lord has cast off his altar; he has abhorred his sanctuary; he has given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have shouted in the house of the LORD as in the day of a feast. ⁸ Cheth The LORD has purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion; he has stretched out the line; he has not withdrawn his hand from destroying; therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament; they were destroyed together.

¹ ¶ Aleph How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are scattered through the crossings of every street.

¹⁸ Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.

²⁰ Because they turned the glory of his ornament into pride and made in her the images of their abominations of their statues; therefore I have set it far from them. ²¹ And I gave it into the hands of the strangers for a prey and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it. ²² I will also turn my face from them, and they shall pollute my secret place, for the destroyers shall enter into it and defile it.

²⁶ And after the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One {Heb. Messiah} shall be killed and shall have nothing: (and the ruling people that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; whose end shall be as a flood, until at the end of the war it shall be cut off with desolation). ²⁷ In one week (they are now seventy) he shall confirm the covenant by many: and at the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and because of the many abominations, desolation shall come, even until complete destruction shall be poured out upon the abominable people.

¹² Therefore for your sake Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

¹ ¶ Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.

² For I will gather all the Gentiles against Jerusalem in battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

² And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.

² And Jesus, answering, said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? There shall not be left one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.

⁴⁴ and shall cast thee down to the ground and thy children within thee, and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. ⁴⁵ And he went into the temple and began to cast out those selling and buying therein, ⁴⁶ saying unto them, It is written, My house is a house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves. ⁴⁷ And he taught daily in the temple. But the princes of the priests and the scribes and the principals of the people sought to kill him ⁴⁸ and could not find what they might do, for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law, ¹⁴ for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place and shall change the traditions which Moses delivered us.

⁶ And one said to the Man clothed in linens, who was upon the waters of the river, When shall be the end of these wonders?

⁸ And I heard, but I did not understand; then I said, O my Lord, what is the fulfillment of these things?

²¹ Peter seeing him said to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? ²² Jesus said unto him, If I will that he tarry until I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

⁶ ¶ Then those that were come together asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? ⁷ And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put under his authority only.

⁸ ¶ For thus hath the LORD of the hosts the God of Israel said: Let not your prophets and your diviners that are in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye dream.

² and saying, Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens is at hand.

⁴ ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no one deceive you. ⁵ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many.

¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.

²³ Then if any man shall say unto you, Behold, here is the Christ, or there, believe it not. ²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders in such a manner that they shall deceive, if possible, the very elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you before.

⁵ ¶ And Jesus, answering them, began to say, Take heed that no one deceive you, ⁶ for many shall come in my name, saying, I Am Christ, and shall deceive many.

²¹ And then if anyone should say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or, Behold, he is there, do not believe him; ²² for false Christs and false prophets shall rise and shall show signs and wonders to seduce, if possible, even the elect. ²³ But take ye heed; behold, I have told you everything beforehand.

²³ And they shall say to you, Behold it here, or, Behold it there; do not go, nor follow them.

⁴³ I have come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not; if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

²⁴ Therefore I said unto you that ye shall die in your sins, for if ye do not believe that I AM, ye shall die in your sins.

³⁶ For before these days, rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves; who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered and brought to nought. ³⁷ After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing and drew away many people after him; he also perished, and all those that consented with him were dispersed.

⁹ But there was a certain man called Simon, who before this in the same city used magic arts and amazed the people of Samaria, giving out that he himself was some great one, ¹⁰ to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This is the great virtue of God.

¹³ For these false apostles are deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And it is no marvel, for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers transform themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

⁶ Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

³ ¶ Let no one deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,

⁹ that wicked one, who shall come by the working of Satan with great power and signs and lying miracles, ¹⁰ and with all deception of iniquity working in those that perish because they did not receive the charity of the truth, to be saved. ¹¹ Therefore, for this cause, God shall send the operation of error in them, that they should believe the lie;

¹³ But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

¹ ¶ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

⁷ ¶ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh. This same is a deceiver and antichrist.

³ ¶ Blessed is he that reads and those that hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things which are written therein, for the time is at hand.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, the serpent of old, who is called Devil and the Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. ³ Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. ¶ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in tribulation. ² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea,

⁷ Mem He shall not be afraid of evil rumours; Nun his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

²⁵ Thou shall not be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked when it comes. ²⁶ For the LORD shall be thy confidence and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

¹² Do not say, A confederacy, to all those to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear their fear, nor be afraid.

¹² I, even I, am he that comforts you. Who art thou that thou should be afraid of man that is mortal and of the son of man which shall be counted as stubble? ¹³ And thou hast already forgotten the LORD thy maker that has stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth and hast feared continually every day the fury of the oppressor when he was ready to destroy. But, where is the fury of the oppressor?

¹⁹ ¶ My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart makes a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the shofar, the alarm of war. ²⁰ Destruction upon destruction is cried, for the whole land is destroyed; suddenly are my tents destroyed, and my curtains in a moment.

⁶ And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that ye be not troubled, for it is necessary that all these things must take place; but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places. ⁸ All these are the beginning of sorrows.

⁷ And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled, for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. ⁸ For people shall rise against people and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in each place, and there shall be famines and troubles: these shall be the beginnings of sorrows.

⁸ Then he said, Take heed that ye not be deceived, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am; and the time draws near; therefore, go ye not after them.

¹⁸ But not a hair of your head shall perish. ¹⁹ In your patience ye shall possess your souls.

²⁸ And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near.

⁵ And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great destruction upon all the inhabitants of the lands. ⁶ And one Gentile destroyed the other, and one city the other; for God discomforted them with all adversity.

² And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians, and they shall fight each one against his brother, and each one against his neighbour; city against city and kingdom against kingdom.

²¹ Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I cause the heavens and the earth to shake, ²² and I will overthrow the throne of the kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdom of the Gentiles, and I will overthrow the chariot and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, each one by the sword of his brother.

² For I will gather all the Gentiles against Jerusalem in battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. ³ Then the LORD shall go forth and fight against those Gentiles as when he fought in the day of battle.

¹³ And it shall come to pass in that day that a great destruction from the LORD shall be in them, for they shall lay hold each one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.

⁸ For people shall rise against people and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in each place, and there shall be famines and troubles: these shall be the beginnings of sorrows.

¹⁹ and I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath: blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke; ²⁰ the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood before that great and notable day of the Lord shall come;

²⁸ And one of them named Agabus stood up and signified by the Spirit that there should be great famine throughout all the world, which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

²⁷ And this word, Yet even once, signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

² And I saw and, behold, a white horse; and he that was seated upon him had a bow, and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth victorious, that he might also overcome. ³ ¶ And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second animal, which said, Come and see. ⁴ And another horse went forth that was red, and unto him that was seated thereon was given power to take away the peace of the earth and that they should kill one another; and there was given unto him a great sword. ⁵ And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third animal, which said, Come and see. And I saw and, behold, a black horse, and he that was seated upon him had a yoke in his hand. ⁶ And I heard a voice in the midst of the four animals, which said, A choenix of wheat for a denarius and three choenix of barley for a denarius; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. ⁷ And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth animal, which said, Come and see. ⁸ And I looked and, behold, a green horse, and he that was seated upon him was named Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given unto him over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword and with hunger and with death and with the beasts of the earth. ⁹ ¶ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those that had been slain because of the word of God and for the testimony which they held: ¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on those that dwell in the earth? ¹¹ And white robes were given unto each one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little while until their fellow servants and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. ¹² And I saw when he had opened the sixth seal, and, behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken, ³⁰ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory.

²⁵ Then there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ²⁶ men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. ²⁷ And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

¹⁶ ¶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore prudent as serpents and innocent as doves. ¹⁷ But keep yourselves from men, for they will deliver you up in councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; ¹⁸ and ye shall even be brought before princes and kings for my sake, for testimony unto them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak, for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. ²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother unto death, and the father the child, and children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death. ²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name, but he that endures to the end shall be saved. ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another, for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel until the Son of man be come. ²⁴ The disciple is not above his master, nor the slave above his lord. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the slave as his lord. If they have called the husband of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call those of his household?

⁶ and the others took his slaves and entreated them spitefully and slew them.

³⁴ ¶ Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets and wise men and scribes, and some of them ye shall kill and crucify, and some of them ye shall scourge in your synagogues and persecute them from city to city, ³⁵ that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many be offended and shall betray one another and shall hate one another.

⁹ But take heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up in the councils, and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten; and ye shall be called before rulers and kings for my sake for a testimony unto them. ¹⁰ And the gospel needs to be preached unto all the Gentiles first. ¹¹ But when they shall bring you to deliver you up, do not premeditate beforehand what ye shall speak, neither think ye regarding it, but whatever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye, for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit. ¹² Now the brother shall deliver the brother unto death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents and shall kill them. ¹³ And ye shall be hated by everyone for my name, but he that shall persevere unto the end, the same shall be saved.

⁴⁹ Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and others they shall persecute: ⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, who perished between the altar and the temple; verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said unto you, The slave is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues, and the hour will even come when whosoever kills you will think that he does God service. ³ And they will do these things unto you because they do not know the Father, nor me.

³ And they laid hands on them and put them in jail unto the next day, for it was now evening. ⁴ But many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of the men was about five thousand. ⁵ ¶ And it came to pass on the next day that their princes and elders and scribes ⁶ and Annas, the high priest, and Caiaphas and John and Alexander and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest were gathered together at Jerusalem. ⁷ And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power or by what name have ye done this?

¹⁷ ¶ Then the prince of the priests rose up, and all those that were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees) were filled with jealousy ¹⁸ and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. ¹⁹ But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors and brought them forth and said,

⁴⁰ And they agreed with him; and when they had called the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus and let them go.

¹² And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes and came upon him and caught him and brought him to the council ¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law, ¹⁴ for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place and shall change the traditions which Moses delivered us. ¹⁵ Then all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as the face of an angel.

⁵⁷ And crying out with a loud voice, they stopped their ears and ran upon him with one accord; ⁵⁸ and casting him out of the city, they stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. ⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen calling upon God and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. ⁶⁰ And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, Lord, impute not this sin to their charge. And having said this, he fell asleep in the Lord.

³ As for Saul, he made havoc of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; entering into the houses and dragging out men and women, he committed them to prison.

⁴ and falling to the earth, he heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why dost thou persecute me?

¹ ¶ Now at that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to mistreat certain of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}. ² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. ³ And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) ⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him, intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.

²² And the multitude rose up together against them, and the magistrates rent off their clothes and commanded to beat them. ²³ And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely, ²⁴ who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison and made their feet fast in the stocks. ²⁵ ¶ But at midnight as Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God, and the prisoners heard them, ²⁶ then suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

³⁰ So that all the city was moved, and the people ran together; and they took Paul and drew him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut. ³¹ And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the tribunal of the company that all Jerusalem was in an uproar

³⁰ On the next day, because he wanted to know of certainty the cause for which he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands and commanded the princes of the priests and all their council to appear and brought Paul down and set him before them.

¹ ¶ And after five days Ananias, the prince of the priests, descended with the elders and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul. ² And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great peace and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy prudence, ³ we accept it always and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness. ⁴ Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou would hear us of thy clemency a few words. ⁵ For we have found this man a pestilent fellow and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world and prince of the seditious sect of the Nazarenes, ⁶ who also has gone about to profane the temple, whom we took and would have judged according to our law. ⁷ But the tribunal Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands, ⁸ commanding his accusers to come unto thee; by examining of whom thou may take knowledge of all these things, of which we accuse him. ⁹ And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.

¹ ¶ Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem. ² Then the prince of the priests and the principals of the Jews informed him against Paul and besought him,

¹¹ For if I am an offender or have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die; but if there are none of these things of which these accuse me, no one may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar. ¹² Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.

²² Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. Tomorrow, said he, thou shalt hear him. ²³ And the next day when Agrippa was come and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the tribunals and principal men of the city, at Festus’ commandment, Paul was brought forth. ²⁴ Then Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer. ²⁵ But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death and that he himself has appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

² I esteem myself blessed, King Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee concerning all the things of which I am accused of the Jews, ³ especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews; therefore, I beseech thee to hear me patiently. ⁴ My manner of life from my youth, which from the beginning was among my own nation at Jerusalem, is known of all the Jews, ⁵ who knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most perfect sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee. ⁶ And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers; ⁷ unto which promise our twelve tribes, constantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope’s sake, King Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews. ⁸ Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you that God should raise the dead? ⁹ I verily had thought that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰ Which things I also did in Jerusalem, and I shut up many of the saints in prison, having received authority from the princes of the priests, and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. ¹¹ And I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.

¹⁵ who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets and have persecuted us, and they do not please God and are contrary to all men, ¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up the measure of their sins always, for the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost.

¹³ ¶ Therefore, be subject to every human ordinance that is of the Lord, whether it be to a king or to a superior,

¹² ¶ Beloved, think it not strange when you are tried by fire (which is done to prove you) as though some strange thing happened unto you, ¹³ but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of the afflictions of the Christ, so that also in the revelation of his glory, ye may rejoice in triumph. ¹⁴ If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; for the glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you; certainly on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer; behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

¹² ¶ But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel,

²⁸ and in nothing terrified by your adversaries, which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of saving health and that of God.

³ that no one should be moved in these tribulations, for you know that we are appointed for this. ⁴ For even when we were with you, we told you in advance that we must pass through tribulations, even as it has come to pass, and ye know.

⁵ ¶ in testimony of the just judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer,

¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak, for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

¹¹ But when they shall bring you to deliver you up, do not premeditate beforehand what ye shall speak, neither think ye regarding it, but whatever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye, for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ And when they bring you unto the synagogues and unto magistrates and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer or what ye shall say; ¹² for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

¹¹ And the LORD said unto him, Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the dumb or the deaf or the seeing or the blind? Am not I the LORD? ¹² Now therefore go and I will be with thy mouth and teach thee what thou shalt say.

⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and intelligence.

⁹ Then the LORD put forth his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

¹² for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

⁴⁵ Then he opened their understanding that they might understand the scriptures

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them, Ye princes of the people and elders of Israel, ⁹ if we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole, ¹⁰ be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him does this man stand here before you whole. ¹¹ This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. ¹² Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men in which we can be saved. ¹³ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled, and they took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus.

³¹ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. ³² ¶ And of the multitude of those that had believed was one heart and one soul; no one said that anything he possessed was his own, but they had all things common. ³³ And with great power the apostles gave witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

²⁵ And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled and answered, Go away for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

²⁸ Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

¹⁹ ¶ and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth with confidence, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

³ praying also together for us that God would open unto us the door of the word, to speak the mystery of the Christ, for which I am also in bonds, ⁴ that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

¹⁶ ¶ At my first answer no one stood with me, but all men forsook me: let it not be imputed unto them. ¹⁷ But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, that by me the preaching might be fully known and that all the Gentiles might hear, and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

⁵ And if any of you lacks wisdom, let them ask of God (who gives abundantly to all, and without reproach), and it shall be given them.

⁴ Take heed each one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.

⁶ For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee, even they have raised their voice after thee, O congregation; do not believe them, when they speak fair words unto thee.

⁵ Do not believe in a friend, do not trust in a prince; from her that lies at thy side, take care, open not thy mouth. ⁶ For the son dishonours the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies are those of his own house.

²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother unto death, and the father the child, and children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.

¹² Now the brother shall deliver the brother unto death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents and shall kill them.

⁵³ The father shall be divided against the son and the son against the father, the mother against the daughter and the daughter against the mother, the mother-in-law against her daughter- in-law and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen calling upon God and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

¹³ I know thy works and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s throne is, and thou holdest fast my name and hast not denied my faith, even in those days in which Antipas was my faithful witness, {or martyr}, who was slain among you, where Satan dwellest.

⁹ ¶ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those that had been slain because of the word of God and for the testimony which they held:

¹¹ And they have overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

¹¹ Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.

²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name, but he that endures to the end shall be saved.

⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

¹³ And ye shall be hated by everyone for my name, but he that shall persevere unto the end, the same shall be saved.

²² Blessed are ye when men shall hate you and when they shall separate you from their company and shall reproach you and cast out your name as evil for the sake of the Son of man.

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify of it that its works are evil.

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

²¹ But they will do all these things unto you for my name’s sake, because they do not know him that sent me.

¹⁴ I have given them thy word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁶ for I will show him how much it behooves him to suffer for my name.

⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your slaves for Jesus’ sake.

¹¹ For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

¹⁰ Therefore I am content in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake, for when I am weak, then am I strong.

²⁹ For unto you it is granted regarding Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake,

¹⁴ If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; for the glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you; certainly on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

³ and hast suffered, and doth suffer and for my name’s sake hast laboured and hast not fainted.

⁴⁵ Then the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has wrought this great saving health in Israel? No, in no wise: as the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has wrought with God this day. So the people rescued {Heb. ransomed} Jonathan that he did not die.

²⁹ Yet a man is risen to pursue thee and to seek thy soul, but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God, and he shall hurl forth the souls of thine enemies as out of the middle of a sling.

¹¹ Then she said, I pray thee, let the king remember the LORD thy God, that thou will not allow the avengers {Heb. redeemers} of blood to increase the damage by destroying my son. And he said, As the LORD lives, not one hair of thy son shall fall to the earth.

³⁰ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

⁷ But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows.

³⁴ Therefore I pray you to take some food, for this is for your salvation and health, for there shall not one hair fall from the head of any of you.

¹³ I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. ¹⁴ Wait for the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, for the LORD.

⁷ ¶ Daleth Be silent before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not be angry with him who prospers in his way, with the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ I waited patiently for the LORD, and he inclined unto me and heard my cry.

¹³ But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

¹⁵ But that on the good ground are those who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience.

⁷ to those who persevered in well doing, glory and honour and incorruption, to those who seek eternal life;

³ And not only this, but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience;

²⁵ But if we wait for that which we do not see, with patience we wait for it.

⁴ For the things that were written beforehand were written for our instruction that we, through patient endurance and through the comfort of the scriptures, might have hope.

³ remembering without ceasing the work of your faith and labour and charity and of waiting with the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,

⁵ And the Lord make your hearts upright in the charity of God and in the hope of the Christ.

¹¹ But we desire that each one of you show the same diligence until the end for the fulfillment of your hope,

¹⁵ And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

³⁶ for patience is necessary, so that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

³ knowing that the proving of your faith works patience,

⁷ Be patient, therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently until it receives the early and latter rain. ⁸ Be ye also patient and confirm your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws near. ⁹ Complain not one against another, brethren, that ye not be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door. ¹⁰ Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. ¹¹ Behold, we count blessed those who endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is very merciful, and full of compassion.

⁹ ¶ I John, your brother and participant in the tribulation and in the kingdom and in the patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

² I know thy works and thy labour and thy patience and how thou canst not bear those who are evil; and thou hast tried those who say they are apostles and are not and hast found them liars, ³ and hast suffered, and doth suffer and for my name’s sake hast laboured and hast not fainted.

¹⁰ Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the entire world, to try those that dwell upon the earth.

¹⁰ He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

¹² Here is the patience of the saints; here are those that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

²⁷ In one week (they are now seventy) he shall confirm the covenant by many: and at the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and because of the many abominations, desolation shall come, even until complete destruction shall be poured out upon the abominable people.

¹⁵ Therefore, when ye see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, which shall stand in the holy place (whosoever reads, let him understand),

⁴³ For the days shall come upon thee that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee and compass thee round and constrain thee on every side

⁷ And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall begin to come to pass?

¹⁷ And it came to pass as they brought them forth outside, that he said, Escape; for thy soul, do not look behind thee, neither stop thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

²⁶ ¶ Then the wife of Lot looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

²⁰ He that feared the word of the LORD among the slaves of Pharaoh made his slaves and his livestock flee into the houses; ²¹ and he that did not regard the word of the LORD left his slaves and his livestock in the field.

²⁶ And he spoke unto the congregation, saying, Depart from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs lest peradventure ye be consumed in all their sins.

³ ¶ A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and receive hurt.

¹ ¶ O ye sons of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem and blow the shofar in Tekoa and set up as a sign smoke in Bethhaccerem; for evil appears out of the north wind and great destruction.

¹¹ But it came to pass, nevertheless, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem from before the army of the Chaldeans and from before of the army of the Syrians: and so we remain in Jerusalem.

¹² then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin to separate himself there in the midst of the people.

¹⁶ then let those who are in Judaea flee into the mountains;

¹⁵ and let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein to take any thing out of his house;

³¹ In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not turn back. ³² Remember Lot’s wife. ³³ Whosoever shall seek to save his soul shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall cause it to live.

⁴ And I heard another voice from the heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye not be partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

¹⁴ ¶ But if ye will not hearken unto me and will not do all these my commandments; ¹⁵ and if ye shall despise my statutes or if your soul should abhor my rights so that ye will not do all my commandments but that ye break my covenant, ¹⁶ I also will do this unto you: I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague that shall consume the eyes and torment the soul, and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. ¹⁷ And I will place my wrath upon you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies; those that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when no one pursues you. ¹⁸ And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. ¹⁹ And I will break the pride of your stronghold, and I will make your heaven as iron and your earth as bronze. ²⁰ And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. ²¹ And if ye walk contrary unto me and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. ²² I will also send wild beasts among you which shall rapture your children and destroy your animals and make you few in number, and your ways shall be desolate. ²³ And if ye will not be corrected by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me, ²⁴ then will I also walk contrary unto you and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. ²⁵ And I will bring an avenging sword upon you, in vindication of the covenant; and ye shall gather together within your cities; but I will send pestilence among you, and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. ²⁶ When I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight, and ye shall eat and not be satisfied. ²⁷ And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me but walk contrary unto me, ²⁸ then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury, and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. ²⁹ And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. ³⁰ And I will destroy your high places and cut down your images and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. ³¹ And I will make your cities waste and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the aroma of your suave incense. ³² And I will bring the land into desolation, and your enemies who dwell therein shall be astonished at it. ³³ And I will scatter you among the Gentiles and will draw out a sword after you, and your land shall be desolate and your cities waste.

¹⁵ ¶ And it shall come to pass if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep, to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee today, that all these curses shall come upon thee and overtake thee. ¹⁶ Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. ¹⁷ Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store. ¹⁸ Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy cows and the flocks of thy sheep. ¹⁹ Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. ²⁰ The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, destruction and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand to do, until thou art destroyed and perish quickly because of the wickedness of thy doings, by which thou hast forsaken me. ²¹ The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee until he has consumed thee from off the land into which thou dost enter to inherit it. ²² The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption and with a fever and with an inflammation and with an extreme burning and with the sword and with blight and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. ²³ And thy heavens which are over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. ²⁴ The LORD shall make the rain of thy land dust and ashes; from the heavens it shall come down upon thee, until thou art destroyed. ²⁵ The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them and shalt be an object of trembling unto all the kingdoms of the earth. ²⁶ And thy carcase shall be food unto all fowls of the air and unto the beasts of the earth, and there shall be no one to frighten them away. ²⁷ The LORD will smite thee with the boil of Egypt and with the hemorrhoids and with the scab and with the itch, of which thou canst not be healed. ²⁸ The LORD shall smite thee with madness and blindness and astonishment of heart. ²⁹ And thou shalt grope at noonday as the blind grope in the darkness, and thou shalt not be prospered in thy ways; and thou shalt only be oppressed and spoiled all the days, and there shall be no one to save thee. ³⁰ Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein; thou shalt plant a vineyard and shalt not gather the grapes thereof. ³¹ Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof; thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face and shall not be restored to thee; thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have no one to rescue them. ³² Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no strength in thine hand. ³³ The fruit of thy land and all thy labours shall a people which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt only be oppressed and crushed all the days. ³⁴ So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. ³⁵ The LORD shall smite thee in the knees and in the legs with an evil boil that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head. ³⁶ The LORD shall bring thee and thy king which thou shalt set over thee unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, and there shalt thou serve other gods, even wood and stone. ³⁷ And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations where the LORD shall carry thee away. ³⁸ Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field and shalt gather but little in, for the locust shall consume it. ³⁹ Thou shalt plant vineyards and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worms shall eat them. ⁴⁰ Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy borders, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall fall. ⁴¹ Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity. ⁴² All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume. ⁴³ The stranger that is in the midst of thee shall get up above thee very high, and thou shalt come down very low. ⁴⁴ He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him; he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail. ⁴⁵ ¶ Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee and shall pursue thee and overtake thee until thou art destroyed because thou shalt not have attended unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee; ⁴⁶ and they shall be in thee for a sign and for a wonder, and in thy seed for ever. ⁴⁷ Because thou didst not serve the LORD thy God with joyfulness and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; ⁴⁸ therefore, thou shalt serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger and in thirst and in nakedness and in lack of all things; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck until he has destroyed thee. ⁴⁹ The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand, ⁵⁰ a nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old nor show favour to the young; ⁵¹ and he shall eat the fruit of thy beast and the fruit of thy land until thou art destroyed, which also shall not leave thee either grain, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy cows or flocks of thy sheep until he has destroyed thee. ⁵² And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates until thy high and fenced walls come down, in which thou dost trust, throughout all thy land; and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God has given thee. ⁵³ And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God has given thee, in the siege and in the straitness with which thine enemies shall distress thee. ⁵⁴ The man that is tender among you and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave, ⁵⁵ so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he shall have nothing left him in the siege and in the straitness with which thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates. ⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you who would not venture to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter ⁵⁷ and toward her young one that comes out from between her feet and toward her children which she shall bear, for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness with which thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates, ⁵⁸ if thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book that thou may fear this glorious and fearful name; I AM thy God. ⁵⁹ Then the LORD will augment thy plagues wonderfully, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues and of long continuance, and evil sicknesses and of long continuance. ⁶⁰ Moreover, he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of, and they shall cleave unto thee. ⁶¹ Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, the LORD will bring upon thee until thou art destroyed. ⁶² And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude, because thou would not hear the voice of the LORD thy God. ⁶³ And it shall come to pass that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to cause you to perish and to destroy you; and ye shall be plucked from off the land into which thou dost enter in to inherit it. ⁶⁴ And the LORD shall scatter thee among all the peoples from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone. ⁶⁵ Neither shalt thou find rest among these Gentiles, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest; but there the LORD shall give thee a trembling heart and failing of eyes and sorrow of soul; ⁶⁶ and thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night and shalt have no assurance of thy life. ⁶⁷ In the morning thou shalt say, I wish it were evening, and in the evening thou shalt say, I wish it were morning! For the fear of thine heart with which thou shalt fear and for that which thine eyes shall see. ⁶⁸ And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again in ships by the way of which I spoke unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again; and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for menslaves and womenslaves, and there shall be no one to buy you.

¹⁹ and it shall be, when that one hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst. ²⁰ The LORD will not forgive him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven. ²¹ And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law. ²² So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD has laid upon it, ²³ and that the whole land thereof is brimstone and salt and burning, that it is not sown, nor shall it produce anything, nor shall any grass grow therein, like in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger and in his wrath; ²⁴ even all Gentiles shall say, Why has the LORD done thus unto this land? What means the heat of this great anger? ²⁵ Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt; ²⁶ for they went and served other gods and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not and who had not given anything unto them. ²⁷ Therefore, the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book. ²⁸ And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger and in wrath and in great indignation and cast them into another land, as it is today.

³⁴ Do I not have this laid up in store, sealed up in my treasuries?

⁴³ Rejoice, O ye Gentiles, with his people, for he will avenge the blood of his slaves and will render vengeance to his enemies and will reconcile his land, to his people.

²² ¶ Let their table become a snare before them, and that which should have been for their prosperity, let it become a stumbling block. ²³ Let their eyes be darkened that they see not and make their loins continually to shake. ²⁴ Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them. ²⁵ Let their palace be desolate, and let no one dwell in their tents. ²⁶ For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten, and they boast that thou hast slain their enemies. ²⁷ Add iniquity unto their iniquity, and let them not come into thy righteousness. ²⁸ Let them be blotted out of the book of the living and not be written with the righteous.

⁷ to execute vengeance upon the Gentiles and punishments upon the peoples, ⁸ to imprison their kings with fetters and their nobles with chains of iron, ⁹ to execute upon them the judgment written: this shall be glory for all his merciful ones. Halelu-JAH.

⁸ For it shall be the day of the LORD’s vengeance and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion.

² to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favour, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

⁴ For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

¹² I also will destine you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter because when I called, ye did not respond; I spoke, and ye did not hear, but did evil before my eyes and did choose that which displeased me. ¹³ Therefore thus has the Lord GOD said, Behold, my slaves shall eat, but ye shall be hungry; behold, my slaves shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty; behold, my slaves shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed: ¹⁴ Behold, my slaves shall rejoice by the joy of their heart, but ye shall cry for the sorrow of your heart and shall howl for the destruction of spirit. ¹⁵ And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen; for the Lord GOD shall slay thee and call his slaves by another name. ¹⁶ He who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth because the former troubles shall be forgotten and shall be covered from my eyes.

⁶ Flee out of the midst of Babylon and deliver each one his soul that ye not perish because of her iniquity, for this is the time of the LORD’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompense.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined {Heb. Cut} upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the prevarication and to conclude the sin and to make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and seal the vision and the prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the word to cause the people to return and to build Jerusalem unto the Anointed {Heb. Messiah} Prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks, while the street shall be built again and the wall, even in troublous times.

⁷ ¶ The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come; Israel shall know it; the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is a fool, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

¹ ¶ Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars. ² Howl, fir tree, for the cedar is fallen because the magnificent are cut down; howl, O ye oaks of Bashan, for the strong mountain is brought down. ³ There is a voice of the howling of the pastors; for their magnificence is destroyed; a voice of the roaring of young lions, for the pride of the Jordan is destroyed.

¹ ¶ Behold, the day of the LORD comes, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. ² For I will gather all the Gentiles against Jerusalem in battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

¹ ¶ For, behold, the day comes that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of the hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

²² Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

¹⁹ For those days shall be of affliction such as never was from the beginning of the creation of the things which God created unto this time, neither shall be. ²⁰ And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved, but for the elect’s sake, whom he has chosen, he has shortened those days.

⁵ But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasures up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

⁹ the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished;

⁷ but the heavens, which are now, and the earth are conserved by the same word, kept unto the fire in the day of judgment and of perdition of the ungodly men.

⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you who would not venture to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter ⁵⁷ and toward her young one that comes out from between her feet and toward her children which she shall bear, for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness with which thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates,

¹⁰ Jod The hands of the compassionate women have cooked their own children; they were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

⁴¹ They say unto him, He will destroy those wicked men without mercy and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

⁴⁴ And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

¹⁹ And woe unto those that are with child and to those that give suck in those days!

¹⁷ But woe to those that are with child and to those that give suck in those days!

²⁷ Moreover, those enemies of mine, who were unwilling that I should reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.

²⁹ For, behold, the days are coming, in which they shall say, Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bare and the breasts which never gave suck.

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up the measure of their sins always, for the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost.

¹² neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the sanctuary designed for eternal redemption. ¹³ For if the blood of bulls and of goats and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctified to the purifying of the flesh, ¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of the Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from the works of death to serve the living God? ¹⁵ ¶ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, so that death intervening for the redemption of the rebellions that took place under the first testament, those who are called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. ¹⁶ For where a testament is, there must also of necessity intervene the death of the testator. ¹⁷ For a testament is confirmed by the death: otherwise it is not valid as long as the testator lives.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ but a certain fearful hope of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He that despised the law of Moses died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much greater punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden underfoot the Son of God and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing and has done despite unto the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know who he is that has said, Vengeance belongs to me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

¹⁶ Do not forget to do good and to fellowship; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

¹ ¶ Come now, Oh ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

¹⁷ For it is time that the judgment begins from the house of God; and if it first begins with us, what shall the end be of those that do not obey the gospel of God?

⁵ And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be eaten up; and break down its wall, and it shall be trodden down:

¹⁸ The people of thy holiness have possessed the promised land but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

¹² For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream; then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.

¹⁹ And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the Gentiles, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have never heard my name, nor seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

¹⁵ Samech The Lord has trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me; he has called a company against me to crush my young men; the Lord has trodden the virgin daughter of Judah as in a winepress.

¹³ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto the one which spoke, How long shall the vision of the daily sacrifice last and the prevarication of desolation that places both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

⁷ And I heard the Man clothed in linens, who was upon the waters of the river, who raised his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and swore by the living one in the ages that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when the scattering of the power of the holy people shall be finished, all these things shall be fulfilled.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same, my name is great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered unto my name, and a clean offering; for my name is great among the Gentiles, said the LORD of the hosts.

²⁵ For I would not, brethren, that ye ignore this mystery, that ye not be arrogant regarding yourselves: that blindness in part has happened in Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles are come in.

² But leave out the court which is within the temple and measure it not, for it is given unto the Gentiles, and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty-two months.

³ though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the violence thereof. Selah.

³ The rivers have lifted up, O LORD; the rivers have lifted up their voice; the rivers lift up their waves. ⁴ The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

³⁰ And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea; and if one looks unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

¹⁰ For this reason the stars of the heavens and the lights thereof shall not shine: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not give forth her light.

¹³ Because I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall be moved out of her place, in the indignation of the LORD of the hosts and in the day of his fierce anger. ¹⁴ And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep without a shepherd: they shall each man look unto his own people, and flee each one unto his own land.

⁴ Therefore I said, Leave me; I will weep bitterly; do not labour to comfort me of the destruction of the daughter of my people. ⁵ For a day of trouble and of treading down and of wearing down by the Lord GOD of the hosts is sent in the valley of the vision to break down the wall and give a cry unto the mountain.

²³ Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of the hosts shall reign in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and in the presence of his ancients he shall be glorious.

¹⁵ And I am the LORD thy God that divides the sea and the waves roar; I am thy God; the LORD of the hosts is his name.

²³ I beheld the earth, and, behold, it was without order, and empty; and the heavens, and they had no light.

⁷ And when thou art dead, I will cover the heavens and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. ⁸ All the bright lights of heaven I will make dark because of thee and set darkness upon thy land, said the Lord GOD.

¹ ¶ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who is for the sons of thy people, and it shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there were people until now, but in that time thy people shall escape, all those that are found written in the book.

³⁰ And I will show wonders in the heaven and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. ³¹ The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes.

⁹ And it shall come to pass in that day, said the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will cover the earth with darkness in the clear day; ¹⁰ and I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; and I will cause sackcloth to be brought up upon all loins and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son and the end thereof as a bitter day.

⁴ The best of them is as a brier; the most upright as a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen, thy visitation, comes; now shall be their confusion.

²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

²⁴ ¶ But in those days after that affliction, the sun shall darken, and the moon shall not give her light,

²⁶ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

³³ ¶ And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

¹⁹ and I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath: blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke;

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements, burning, shall be dissolved, and the earth and the works that are in it shall be burned up. ¹¹ ¶ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, ¹² waiting for and desiring earnestly for the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

¹² And I saw when he had opened the sixth seal, and, behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; ¹³ and the stars of heaven fell upon the earth, even as a fig tree casts her figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. ¹⁴ And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

¹¹ ¶ And I saw a great white throne and him that was seated upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and their place was not found.

³⁶ And upon those that are left alive of you I will send such cowardice into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, that the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursue.

³² Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no strength in thine hand. ³³ The fruit of thy land and all thy labours shall a people which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt only be oppressed and crushed all the days. ³⁴ So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

⁶⁵ Neither shalt thou find rest among these Gentiles, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest; but there the LORD shall give thee a trembling heart and failing of eyes and sorrow of soul; ⁶⁶ and thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night and shalt have no assurance of thy life. ⁶⁷ In the morning thou shalt say, I wish it were evening, and in the evening thou shalt say, I wish it were morning! For the fear of thine heart with which thou shalt fear and for that which thine eyes shall see.

¹³ I saw in the vision of the night, and, behold, in the clouds of heaven like a Son of man that came and drew near unto the Elder of great age, and they brought him near before him.

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward everyone according to their works. ²⁸ Verily I say unto you, There are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³⁰ and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory.

³¹ ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory and all the holy angels with him, then he shall sit upon the throne of his glory,

⁶⁴ Jesus said unto him, Thou hast said it; nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power and coming in the clouds of heaven.

⁹ And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, ¹¹ who also said, Ye men of Galilee, what do ye stand gazing at up into heaven? This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

⁷ Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him and those also who pierced him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail over him. Even so, Amen.

¹⁴ And I looked, and, behold, a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown and in his hand a sharp sickle.

⁵ Sing praises unto the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the voice of a song. ⁶ With trumpets and the sound of the shofar make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King. ⁷ Let the sea roar and the fullness thereof, the world and those that dwell therein. ⁸ Let the rivers clap their hands; let the mountains be joyful together ⁹ before the LORD; for he has come to judge the earth; with righteousness he shall judge the world and the peoples with equity.

¹ ¶ And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will sing unto thee; though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou hast comforted me. ² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me. ³ Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of saving health.

⁸ He will destroy death forever; and the Lord GOD shall wipe away every tear from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people he shall take away from off all the earth: for the LORD has determined it. ⁹ ¶ And it shall be said in that day, Behold, this is our God, whom we have waited for, and he has saved us: this is the LORD, whom we have waited for, we will be glad and rejoice in his saving health.

¹ ¶ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. ² For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

⁷ And shall not God avenge his own elect who cry day and night unto him though he bears long regarding them?

¹⁹ For the earnest hope of the creatures waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.

²³ And not only they, but ourselves also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, that is to say, the redemption of our body.

¹⁴ which is the earnest of our inheritance unto the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God with which ye are sealed for the day of redemption.

³² ¶ Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh; ³³ so likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. ³⁴ Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled. ³⁵ The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

²⁸ ¶ Learn the similitude from the fig tree: When her branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is near; ²⁹ so ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is near, even at the doors. ³⁰ Verily I say unto you that this generation shall not pass until all these things are done.

⁵⁷ Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

¹ ¶ The Pharisees and the Sadducees came to tempt him; they asked him to show them a sign from the heaven. ² But he answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather, for the heaven is glowing with an aurora. ³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather today, for the heaven has an aurora and is cloudy. O ye hypocrites, ye know how to make decisions based on the face of the heaven, and regarding the signs of the times are ye unable? ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and no sign shall be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

⁵¹ Think ye that I am come to the earth to give peace? No, I tell you, but rather division; ⁵² for from now on there shall be five in one house divided: three against two and two against three. ⁵³ The father shall be divided against the son and the son against the father, the mother against the daughter and the daughter against the mother, the mother-in-law against her daughter- in-law and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ⁵⁴ ¶ And he said also to the people, When ye see the cloud rising out of the west, straightway ye say, A shower comes, and so it is. ⁵⁵ And when the south wind blows, ye say, There will be heat, and it comes to pass. ⁵⁶ Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time? ⁵⁷ Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

³⁷ For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come and will not tarry.

⁹ Complain not one against another, brethren, that ye not be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.

⁷ ¶ But the end of all things is at hand; be ye, therefore, temperate and watch unto prayer.

²⁸ Verily I say unto you, There are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³⁶ Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

³⁴ Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.

³⁰ Verily I say unto you that this generation shall not pass until all these things are done.

²⁶ They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture thou shalt change them, and they shall be changed:

⁸ The grass withers, the open flower fades; but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

⁶ Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and those that dwell therein shall perish in like manner; but my saving health shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall never perish.

¹⁸ For verily I say unto you, Until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall pass from the law until all is fulfilled.

³⁵ The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

³¹ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

²⁵ but the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

⁷ but the heavens, which are now, and the earth are conserved by the same word, kept unto the fire in the day of judgment and of perdition of the ungodly men. ⁸ ¶ But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day before the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years are as one day. ⁹ ¶ The Lord is not late concerning his promise, as some count lateness, but is patient with us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements, burning, shall be dissolved, and the earth and the works that are in it shall be burned up. ¹¹ ¶ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, ¹² waiting for and desiring earnestly for the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to his promises, wait for new heavens and a new earth, in which dwells righteousness. ¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that ye hope for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless.

⁹ Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee when ye go into the tabernacle of the testimony, lest ye die; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations;

¹⁹ and it shall be, when that one hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst.

³⁶ ¶ And Abigail came to Nabal, and, behold, he held a banquet in his house like the banquet of a king; and Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken; therefore, she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.

⁸ Let destruction come upon him at unawares, and let his net that he has hid catch himself; into that very destruction let him fall.

⁴ ¶ A high look and a proud heart, which is the fire of the wicked, is sin.

¹ ¶ Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim and to the open flower of the beauty of their glory which is upon the head of the fertile valley of those that are overcome with wine! ² Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one who as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing shall cast down to the earth with the hand. ³ The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

⁷ But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink; they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

¹⁰ His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant; they are all dumb dogs; they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, they love to slumber. ¹¹ And these anxious dogs are insatiable, and even the shepherds did not know enough to understand: they all look to their own ways, each one for his gain, from his quarter. ¹² Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, or much more excellent.

¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

²² And he that was planted among the thorns is he that hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ⁴⁰ Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left. ⁴¹ Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left. ⁴² Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. ⁴³ But know this that if the husband of the house knew in what watch the thief would come, he would watch and would not suffer his house to be broken into. ⁴⁴ Therefore be ye also ready; the Son of man is to come in the hour that ye think not. ⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and prudent slave, whom his lord has made ruler over his household to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that slave whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing. ⁴⁷ Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. ⁴⁸ But and if that evil slave shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming, ⁴⁹ and shall begin to smite his fellowslaves and even to eat and drink with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that slave shall come in a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of

¹⁹ and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

⁹ But take heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up in the councils, and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten; and ye shall be called before rulers and kings for my sake for a testimony unto them.

¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns are those who when they have heard go forth and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life and bring no fruit to perfection.

⁴¹ And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things;

⁴⁰ Be ye therefore ready also; for the Son of man comes at an hour when ye think not.

⁴⁵ But and if that slave shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming, and shall begin to beat the menslaves and maids and to eat and drink and to be drunken, ⁴⁶ the lord of that slave will come in a day when he does not look for him and at an hour when he is not aware and will cut him off and will appoint him his portion with the unfaithful.

³ Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother should trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

¹¹ ¶ And this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awaken ourselves out of sleep, for now is our saving health nearer than when we believed. ¹² The night is past, and the day is come; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us clothe ourselves with the weapons of light. ¹³ Let us walk honestly, as in the day, not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

¹¹ But now I have written unto you not to associate with anyone calling himself a brother if he is a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner; with such a one do not even eat.

¹⁰ nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.

² For ye know well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. ⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should take you as a thief. ⁵ Ye are all the sons of light, and the sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness. ⁶ ¶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those that sleep in the night, and those that are drunken are drunken in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet, the hope of saving health.

¹⁵ looking diligently that no one deviate from the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up impede you, and thereby many be defiled,

³ For it should suffice us that during the time past of our life we had done the will of the Gentiles, when we conversed in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, gluttony, orgies, and abominable idolatries. ⁴ ¶ And it seems strange to those that speak evil of you, that ye do not run with them to the same unchecked dissolution; ⁵ the same shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. ⁶ Because for this cause was the gospel preached also to those that are dead, that they might be judged in flesh according to men, but live in spirit according to God. ⁷ ¶ But the end of all things is at hand; be ye, therefore, temperate and watch unto prayer.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements, burning, shall be dissolved, and the earth and the works that are in it shall be burned up.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that ye hope for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless.

³ Remember, therefore, of that which thou hast received and heard and hold to it and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come to thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

⁴ For yet in seven days, I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every substance that I have made I will destroy from off the face of the earth.

⁶ Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, with winds of whirlwinds: this shall be the portion of their cup.

¹² For man also does not know his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net and as the birds that are caught in the snare, so are the sons of men snared in the evil time, when it falls suddenly upon them.

¹⁷ Fear and the pit and the snare are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. ¹⁸ And it shall come to pass that he who shall flee from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that shall come up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: because from on high, windows have been opened, and the foundations of the earth shall shake.

⁴³ Fear and the pit and the snare shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, said the LORD. ⁴⁴ He that flees from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that gets up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare; for I will bring upon him, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, said the LORD.

³⁷ And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

²⁶ and has made of one blood all the lineage of men to dwell on all the face of the earth and has determined the seasons (which he has limited) and the bounds of their habitation;

¹⁵ Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches and keeps his garments lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

¹⁰ Will he delight himself in the Almighty? Will he always call upon God?

⁵ Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

² But who may abide the time of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he shall be like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap:

⁴² Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

¹³ Watch, therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes.

⁴¹ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³³ Take ye heed, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time shall be.

³⁷ And what I say unto you, I say unto all: Watch.

³⁷ Blessed are those slaves, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching; verily I say unto you that he shall gird himself and make them to sit down to food and will come forth and serve them. ³⁸ And if he shall come in the second watch or come in the third watch and find them so, blessed are those slaves. ³⁹ And know this: that if the husband of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not have suffered his house to be broken through. ⁴⁰ Be ye therefore ready also; for the Son of man comes at an hour when ye think not.

¹ ¶ And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that it behooves us always to pray and not faint,

³⁵ but those who are accounted worthy to obtain that age and the resurrection from the dead neither marry, nor are given in marriage;

² a devout man and one that feared God with all his house, who gave many alms to the people and prayed to God always.

¹³ ¶ Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.

¹³ Therefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and stand fast, all the work having been finished. ¹⁴ Stand firm, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth and having on the breastplate, {the coat of mail and coat of arms} of righteousness,

¹⁸ praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching in this with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints ¹⁹ ¶ and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth with confidence, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

² ¶ Persevere in prayer and watch in the same with thanksgiving,

¹⁷ Pray without ceasing.

⁵ ¶ in testimony of the just judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer, ⁶ seeing it is a just thing with God to recompense tribulation to those that trouble you

⁵ But watch thou in all things, labour, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry.

⁸ ¶ Be temperate and vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour,

²⁸ ¶ And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

²⁴ Now unto him that is powerful to keep you without sin and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

⁴ And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, making a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north and half of it toward the south.

¹ ¶ And when they drew near unto Jerusalem and were come to Bethphage unto the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

¹⁷ And he left them and went out of the city into Bethany, and he lodged there.

³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

⁵⁵ In that same hour Jesus said to the multitude, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

¹² ¶ And the next day when they left Bethany, he was hungry,

¹⁹ But when evening was come, Jesus went out of the city.

³⁷ And when he was come near, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen,

³⁹ ¶ And he came out and went as he was wont to the mount of Olives, and his disciples also followed him.

¹ ¶ Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

¹² ¶ Then they returned unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.

¹ ¶ Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. ² And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down and taught them.
