²⁷ ¶ And after these things he went forth and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and he said unto him, Follow me.

¹⁹ And he said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. ²⁰ And they straightway left their nets and followed him. ²¹ And going on from there, he saw another two brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.

²² But Jesus said unto him, Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.

⁹ ¶ And as Jesus passed forth from there, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom; and he said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. ¹⁰ And it came to pass, as he sat at food in his house, behold, many publicans and sinners that had come sat down at the table with Jesus and his disciples. ¹¹ And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why does your Master eat with publicans and sinners? ¹² But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, Those that are whole need not a physician, but those that are sick. ¹³ Therefore go ye and learn what this is, I will have mercy and not sacrifice, for I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. ¹⁴ ¶ Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but thy disciples do not fast? ¹⁵ And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they shall fast. ¹⁶ No one mends an old garment with a piece of new cloth, for that patch takes from the garment, and the rent is made worse. ¹⁷ Neither do they put new wine into old wineskins, otherwise the wineskins break, and the wine runs out, and the wineskins perish; but they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved together.

²⁴ ¶ Then Jesus said unto his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross {Gr. stauros – stake} and follow me.

²² Now when Jesus heard this, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

⁴³ ¶ The day following Jesus desired to go forth into Galilee and found Philip and said unto him, Follow me.

²⁶ If anyone serves me, let them follow me; and where I am, there shall my servant be also; the one that serves me, will my Father honour.

¹⁹ This he spoke, signifying by what death he should clarify God. And when he had spoken this, he said unto him, Follow me. ²⁰ ¶ Then Peter, turning about, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrays thee? ²¹ Peter seeing him said to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? ²² Jesus said unto him, If I will that he tarry until I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
