³⁸ Now the man out of whom the demons were departed besought him that he might be with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,

²⁵ And it shall come to pass, when ye have entered into the land which the LORD will give you, according as he has promised, that ye shall keep this service. ²⁶ And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What do you mean by this service? ²⁷ That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD’s passover, who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians and delivered our houses. Then the people bowed and worshipped.

⁸ And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when he brought me out of Egypt. ⁹ And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thy hand and for a memorial before thine eyes, that the LORD’s law may be in thy mouth; for with a strong hand the LORD has brought thee out of Egypt.

¹⁴ And it shall be when thy son asks thee in time to come, saying, What is this? Thou shalt say unto him, With a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery; ¹⁵ and it came to pass when Pharaoh was hardening himself to not let us go that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt from the human firstborn to the firstborn of the beast; therefore, I sacrifice to the LORD every male that opens the womb, and I ransom every firstborn of my sons. ¹⁶ And it shall be for a token upon thy hand, and for a memorial before thine eyes: That the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand.

²⁰ Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave and swear by his name. ²¹ He shall be thy praise, and he shall be thy God, that has done with thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

⁴ One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the LORD and to enquire in his temple.

⁷ ¶ Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

¹⁷ O God, thou hast taught me from my youth and until now; I shall manifest thy wondrous works. ¹⁸ Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not until I have showed the strength of thy arm unto the next generation and thy power to every one that is to come,

³ which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their sons, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD and his strength and his wonderful works that he has done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their sons: ⁶ That the generation to come might know them, even the sons which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their sons

²¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ²² And let them offer the sacrifices of praise and publish his works with singing.

³¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ³² Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

¹² What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

¹⁶ This is so, O LORD, because I am thy slave; I am thy slave, the son of thine handmaid; thou hast loosed my bonds.

⁷ ¶ I will mention the mercies of the LORD and the praises of the LORD according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us and the greatness of his goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies and according to the multitude of his mercies. ⁸ For he said, Surely they are my people, sons that do not lie: and he was their Saviour. ⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the Angel of his face saved them: with his love and with his clemency he redeemed them; and he bore them and carried them all the days of the age. ¹⁰ But they were rebels and angered his holy Spirit; therefore, he was turned to be their enemy, and he himself fought against them. ¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, of Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he that put his Holy Spirit within him? ¹² He that led them by the right hand of Moses with the arm of his glory, he who divided the water before them, thus making himself an everlasting name. ¹³ He that led them through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness, they never stumbled.

¹⁸ And as he was entering into the ship, he that had been troubled by the demon besought him that he might be with him. ¹⁹ But Jesus suffered him not but said unto him, Go home to thy friends and family and tell them what great things the Lord has done with thee and how he has had mercy on thee. ²⁰ And he went and began to publish in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done with him, and everyone marveled.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them, for they were taken with great fear; and he went up into the ship and returned back again.

¹³ Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, of how much evil he has done to thy saints in Jerusalem, ¹⁴ and even here he has authority from the princes of the priests to bind all that call on thy name. ¹⁵ But the Lord said unto him, Go; for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel; ¹⁶ for I will show him how much it behooves him to suffer for my name.

²³ but they had only heard, That he who persecuted us in time past now preaches the faith which he once destroyed. ²⁴ And they glorified God in me.

²³ For I am in a strait between the two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better:

¹³ who was before a blasphemer and a persecutor and injurious, but I was received unto mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ This is a faithful saying and worthy of acceptation by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first. ¹⁶ But for this cause I was received unto mercy that in me first, Jesus Christ might show forth all clemency, for an example to those who should hereafter believe in him for eternal life.
