¹ ¶ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, ² saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him. ³ When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him. ⁴ And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he asked them where the Christ should be born. ⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea, for thus it is written by the prophet, ⁶ And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda, for out of thee shall come a Leader that shall shepherd my people Israel. ⁷ Then Herod, calling the wise men unto him secretly, understood of them with diligence the time of the appearing of the star; ⁸ and sending them to Bethlehem, he said, Go there and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again that I may come and worship him also. ⁹ ¶ When they had heard the king, they departed; and, behold, the star, which they had seen in the east, went before them until it arrived and stood over where the young child was. ¹⁰ Seeing the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. ¹¹ And entering into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother; and falling down, they worshipped him; and opening their treasures, they offered him gifts: gold and frankincense and myrrh. ¹² And being warned by divine revelation in dreams that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. ¹³ ¶ And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in dreams, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt and remain there until I bring thee word, for Herod will seek the young child to kill him. ¹⁴ And awaking, he took the young child and his mother by night and departed into Egypt ¹⁵ and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. ¹⁶ ¶ Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth and sent forth and killed all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had understood of the wise men. ¹⁷ Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, ¹⁸ In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation and weeping and great mourning, Rachel was weeping for her children and would not be comforted because they perished. ¹⁹ ¶ But when Herod was dead, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared in dreams to Joseph in Egypt, ²⁰ saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother and go into the land of Israel, for they are dead who sought the death of the young child. ²¹ And he arose and took the young child and his mother and came into the land of Israel. ²² But when he heard that Archelaus reigned in Judaea in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there; notwithstanding, being warned by divine revelation in dreams, he withdrew into the parts of Galilee, ²³ and he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophets, that he shall be called a Nazarene.

³⁰ And their dwelling was from Mesha as thou goest unto Sephar, mount of the east.

⁶ But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

¹⁰ The sceptre shall not be taken from Judah, nor the lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh comes; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

³⁰ And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the sons of the east and all the wisdom of the Egyptians.

³ His substance was seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred she asses, and a very great store of servants, so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

⁹ Those that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust. ¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. ¹¹ Yea, all kings shall fall down before him; all Gentiles shall serve him. ¹² For he shall deliver the destitute when he cries and the poor that has no helper.

¹⁰ ¶ And it shall be in that day that the Root of Jesse, who shall be lifted up as a banner, as an example to the Gentiles shall be sought by the Gentiles; and his Kingdom of peace shall be glorious.

¹ ¶ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. ² For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. ³ And the Gentiles shall walk to thy light, and the kings to the brightness of thy birth. ⁴ Lift up thine eyes round about and see: they all gather themselves together; they come to thee; thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. ⁵ Then thou shall see, and thou shall shine, and thine heart shall marvel, and be enlarged because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the strength of the Gentiles shall have come unto thee. ⁶ The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall show forth the praises of the LORD. ⁷ All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, rams of Nebaioth shall be served unto thee: they shall be offered up with grace upon my altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory. ⁸ Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows? ⁹ ¶ For the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish from the first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, who has glorified thee. ¹⁰ And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall serve thee; for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my good favour I shall have mercy on thee. ¹¹ Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that the strength of the Gentiles may be brought unto thee, and their kings guided. ¹² For the people or the kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish and shall be utterly wasted. ¹³ The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will honour the place of my feet. ¹⁴ The sons also of those that afflicted thee shall come humbled unto thee; and at the steps of thy feet all those that despised thee shall bow themselves down; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. ¹⁵ ¶ Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will place thee in eternal glory, in joy from generation to generation. ¹⁶ Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of the kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. ¹⁷ For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for the stones iron; I will also put peace in the place of thy government, and righteousness in the place of thine oppressors. ¹⁸ Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Saving Health and thy gates Praise. ¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be thy light by day; nor shall the moon give light unto thee for brightness; but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light and thy God thy glory. ²⁰ Thy sun shall set no more; neither shall thy moon wane: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. ²¹ And thy people shall all be righteous; they shall inherit the land for ever; they shall be shoots of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. ²² The small one shall be as a thousand; the youngest as a strong nation; I the LORD will hasten it in its time.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined {Heb. Cut} upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the prevarication and to conclude the sin and to make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and seal the vision and the prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the word to cause the people to return and to build Jerusalem unto the Anointed {Heb. Messiah} Prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks, while the street shall be built again and the wall, even in troublous times.

² But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be Lord in Israel; and his goings forth are from the beginning, from the days of the ages.

⁶ For thus hath the LORD of the hosts said: Yet even once, and I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land; ⁷ and I will shake all the Gentiles; and the desire of all the Gentiles shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, said the LORD of the hosts. ⁸ The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, said the LORD of the hosts. ⁹ The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, said the LORD of the hosts, and in this place I will give peace, said the LORD of the hosts.

²⁵ and knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn son, and he called his name Jesus.

³ When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him.

⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea, for thus it is written by the prophet,

¹⁹ ¶ But when Herod was dead, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared in dreams to Joseph in Egypt,

⁵ ¶ There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia, and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

⁴ And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth into Judaea unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem (because he was of the house and family of David) ⁵ to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. ⁶ And so it was that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. ⁷ And she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.

¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

¹⁵ And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go unto Bethlehem and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord has made known unto us.

⁴² Has not the scripture said, That the Christ comes of the seed of David and out of the town of Bethlehem where David was?

¹⁷ I shall see him, but not now; I shall behold him, but not near by; there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel and shall smite the corners of Moab and destroy all the sons of Seth.

⁶ Yet I have set my king upon Zion, the mountain of my holiness.

¹¹ so shall the king greatly desire thy beauty; and bow before him, for he is thy Lord.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government is placed upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called The Wonderful One, The Counsellor, The God, The Mighty One, The Eternal Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ The multitude of his dominion and the peace shall have no end upon the throne of David and upon his Kingdom, ordering it and confirming it in judgment and in righteousness from now on even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of the hosts will perform this.

¹ ¶ Behold, one king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall preside unto judgment. ² And that man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a hot land.

³ And the Gentiles shall walk to thy light, and the kings to the brightness of thy birth.

⁵ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper and shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

⁹ but they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

⁹ ¶ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout with joy, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, thy King shall come unto thee: just, and a saviour; humble, and riding upon an ass, even upon a colt the foal of an ass.

¹⁰ Seeing the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. ¹¹ And entering into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother; and falling down, they worshipped him; and opening their treasures, they offered him gifts: gold and frankincense and myrrh.

⁵ Say unto the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King comes unto thee, meek and sitting upon an ass and a colt the foal of a beast under yoke.

¹¹ ¶ And Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.

⁷⁸ through the bowels of mercy of our God, whereby the dayspring from on high has visited us ⁷⁹ to give light to those that dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace.

³⁸ saying, Blessed be the King that comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

³ Then Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

³⁸ And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek and Latin and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

²³ that everyone should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who has sent him.

³⁸ And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

¹³ took branches of palm trees and went forth to meet him and cried, Hosanna; Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel.

³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I AM king. To this end I was born, and for this cause I came into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.

¹² And from then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend; whosoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar. ¹³ Therefore when Pilate heard that word, he brought Jesus forth and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. ¹⁴ And it was the preparation of the passover and about the sixth hour; then he said unto the Jews, Behold your King! ¹⁵ But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate said unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The high priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

¹⁹ ¶ And Pilate also wrote a title and put it above the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

²⁸ And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

⁶ And again, when he brought in the firstbegotten into the world, he said, And let all the angels of God worship him.

¹⁶ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}. I AM the root and the offspring of David and the bright and morning star.

¹⁷ ¶ And it came to pass when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubles Israel? ¹⁸ And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.

²⁹ And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou come here to torment us before the time?

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that didst kill the prophets and stone those who are sent unto thee, how often I desired to gather thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

⁴⁷ Then the high priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, What shall we do? for this man does many signs. ⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, everyone will believe on him, and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and the nation.

² resentful that they taught the people and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

²⁴ And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord and said, Lord, thou art the God, who hast made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, ²⁵ who (in the Holy Spirit) by the mouth of thy servant David (our father) hast said, Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth were present, and the princes were gathered together against the Lord and against his Christ. ²⁷ For of a truth against thy holy servant Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together (in this city),

²⁴ Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the princes of the priests heard these things, they were perplexed regarding what this would come to. ²⁵ Then someone came and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people. ²⁶ ¶ Then the captain with the officers went and brought them without violence, for they feared being stoned by the people. ²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set them before the council, and the prince of the priests asked them, ²⁸ saying, Did we not strictly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

²⁰ and brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city ²¹ and teach rites which are not lawful for us to receive neither to observe, being Romans.

⁶ And when they did not find them, they brought Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down have come here also, ⁷ whom Jason has received, and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

⁴ And there were more men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar, and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar, there were sixteen chief men of the houses of their fathers and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the houses of their fathers. ⁵ They divided them, therefore, by lot, one with another for of the sons of Eleazar and of the sons of Ithamar there were princes of the sanctuary and princes of God. ⁶ And Shemaiah, the scribe, the son of Nethaneel, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king and the princes and before Zadok, the priest, and Ahimelech, the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers of the priests and Levites; one paternal house being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar. ⁷ Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah, ⁸ the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim, ⁹ the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin, ¹⁰ the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah, ¹¹ the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah, ¹² the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim, ¹³ the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab, ¹⁴ the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer, ¹⁵ the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Aphses, ¹⁶ the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezekel, ¹⁷ the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul, ¹⁸ the twenty-third to Delaiah, the twenty-fourth to Maaziah. ¹⁹ These were their orderings in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their right, in the ministry of Aaron, their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.

¹³ Also they were over the bearers of burdens and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service; and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.

¹⁵ And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan, the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

¹⁴ Moreover, all the princes of the priests and the people increased the rebellion, rebelling according to all the abominations of the Gentiles and polluting the house of the LORD which he had sanctified in Jerusalem.

⁶ This Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a diligent scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

¹¹ ¶ Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra, the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD and of his statutes over Israel. ¹² Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra, the priest, perfect scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and to Cheenet.

⁵ Then Ezra arose and made the princes of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear that they should do according to this word. And they swore.

⁷ Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jedaiah. These were the princes of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua.

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed, saying,

⁸ How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Behold, certainly in vain did he make the pen; the scribes were in vain.

⁷ For the priest’s lips keep wisdom, and they seek the law at his mouth; for he is an angel of the LORD of the hosts.

²⁹ for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.

⁵² And he said unto them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed in the kingdom of the heavens is like unto a man, a husband of a house, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old.

¹⁵ But when the princes of the priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children crying out in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were sore displeased

²³ ¶ And when he was come into the temple, the princes of the priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

³ Then the princes of the priests and the scribes and the elders of the people assembled together in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

⁴⁷ ¶ And while he yet spoke, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the princes of the priests and elders of the people.

¹ ¶ When the morning was come, all the princes of the priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death,

³¹ And he began to teach them that it was convenient that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the princes of the priests and of the scribes, and be killed and after three days rise again.

¹⁹ And the princes of the priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him, for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them; but they feared the people.

¹⁰ And the princes of the priests and the scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a teacher of Israel and knowest not this?

³² The Pharisees heard the people that murmured such things concerning him, and the princes of the priests and the Pharisees sent officers to take him.

³ Then the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery, and when they had set her in the midst,

³ Judas then, taking a company of soldiers and ministers of the high priests and of the Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.

⁵ ¶ And it came to pass on the next day that their princes and elders and scribes

¹² And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes and came upon him and caught him and brought him to the council

⁹ And there arose a great cry; and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man, but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

¹⁹ Thus Rachel died and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.

¹⁵ and including Kattath, Nahallal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem: twelve cities with their villages.

¹ ¶ Now it came to pass in the days when the judges governed that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem of Judah went to sojourn in the fields of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

¹⁹ ¶ So the two walked until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, entering into Bethlehem, that all the city was moved because of them, and they said, Is this Naomi?

⁴ ¶ And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

¹¹ And all the people that were in the gate and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, who built the house of Israel; and be thou a man of valour in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem;

¹ ¶ And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil and go; I will send thee to Jesse of Bethlehem for I have provided me a king among his sons.

¹⁹ Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion and shall destroy what remains of the city.

² And even yesterday and the day before yesterday, when Saul was king over us, it was thou that didst lead out and bring in Israel; and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.

² For Judah prevailed above his brethren and was their prince, but the birthright was Joseph’s:)

¹ ¶ Why do the Gentiles rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed, saying, ³ let us break their bands asunder and cast away their cords from us. ⁴ He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. ⁵ Then he shall speak unto them in his wrath and trouble them in his sore displeasure. ⁶ Yet I have set my king upon Zion, the mountain of my holiness.

⁷¹ from following the ewes great with young, he brought him to feed Jacob his people and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² So he fed them out of the integrity of his heart and guided them by the intelligence of his hands.

¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young.

⁴ And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them; and they shall fear no more nor be dismayed neither shall they be lacking, said the LORD. ⁵ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper and shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. ⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this shall be his name by which they shall call him, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

²³ And I will raise up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my slave David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. ²⁴ And I the LORD will be their God, and my slave David prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it. ²⁵ And I will establish with them a covenant of peace and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods.

²⁴ And David my slave shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd; they shall also walk within my rights and keep my statutes and do them. ²⁵ And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my slave, in which your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they and their sons and their son’s sons for ever; and my slave David shall be their prince for ever. ²⁶ Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will plant them and multiply them and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

¹ ¶ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

¹⁶ He said to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He said unto him, Yes, Lord thou knowest that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my sheep.

²² And has put all things under his feet and gave him to be the head over all things to the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones},

¹⁸ And he is the head of the body, the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence.

²⁷ and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter they shall be broken to shivers, even as I received of my Father.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded the trumpet, and there were great voices in the heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are reduced unto our Lord and to his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

¹⁰ Now, therefore, let us be wise concerning him, that he not multiply and it come to pass that when war comes, he shall also join with our enemies and fight against us and so leave the land.

²¹ And Saul said, I will give her to him that she may be a snare to him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore, Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son-in-law with the other one.

⁹ He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to catch the poor: he catches the poor when he draws him into his net. ¹⁰ He crouches and hides himself, and many are those who fall under his power.

²¹ The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect; suddenly do they shoot at him and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter; they attempt to hide the snares; they say, Who shall see them? ⁶ They search out iniquities; they perfect and put into effect that which they have invented in the inward thought of each one of them and that which they have devised in their heart.

³ They have taken prudent counsel in secret against thy people and consulted against thy hidden ones. ⁴ They have said, Come and let us cut them off from being a people that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

⁵ Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have taken evil counsel against thee saying, ⁶ Let us go up against Judah and vex it, and let us divide it between us and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal: ⁷ Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

¹⁰ Thus hath the Lord GOD said: It shall also come to pass in that day, that words shall rise up in thy heart, and thou shalt conceive an evil thought: ¹¹ and thou shalt say, I will go up against the land of unwalled villages; I will go against those that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

³ Then the princes of the priests and the scribes and the elders of the people assembled together in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, ⁴ and took counsel that they might take Jesus by guile and kill him. ⁵ But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

¹ ¶ And there appeared a great sign in the heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars; ² and she being with child cried out, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. ³ And there appeared another sign in the heaven; and, behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. ⁴ And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered, to devour her child as soon as it was born. ⁵ And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all the Gentiles with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up unto God and to his throne.

¹⁵ And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a river after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the river.

²² Go, I pray you, prepare yet and know and see his place where he places his foot and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he deals with great prudence. ²³ See, therefore, and take knowledge of all the hiding places where he hides himself and come again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you; and it shall come to pass, if he is in the land that I will search him out with all the thousands of Judah.

⁷ ¶ And at the end of a predetermined period of forty years, it came to pass that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go to Hebron and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the LORD. ⁸ For thy slave vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If the LORD shall bring me again indeed to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD. ⁹ And the king said unto him, Go in peace. So he arose and went to Hebron. ¹⁰ But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as ye hear the sound of the shofar, then ye shall say, Absalom reigns in Hebron. ¹¹ And two hundred men of Jerusalem went with Absalom, that were invited by him, and they went in their integrity, without knowing anything. ¹² Absalom also sent for Ahithophel, the Gilonite, of David’s counsel, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong, for the people increased continually with Absalom.

¹⁴ Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai, the Archite, is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had given orders to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

² Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if by tomorrow at this time I have not made thy person as one of them.

¹⁸ And Jehu gathered all the people together and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little but Jehu shall serve him much. ¹⁹ Now, therefore, call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let no one be lacking, for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whoever is lacking shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty to the intent that he might destroy those that served Baal.

¹ ¶ Now when the enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the sons of the captivity built the temple unto the LORD God of Israel, ² then they came to Zerubbabel and to the heads of the fathers and said unto them, Let us build with you, for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon, king of Assur, who brought us up here.

¹² He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. ¹³ He takes the wise in their own prudence, and the counsel of his adversaries is turned to folly.

² Each one speaks vanity with his neighbour: they speak with flattering lips and with a double heart. ³ The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things:

¹⁰ The LORD brings the counsel of the Gentiles to nought; he makes the devices of the peoples of no effect. ¹¹ The counsel of the LORD stands for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

¹¹ Wickedness is in the midst thereof; deceit and guile depart not from her streets. ¹² For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it, neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: ¹³ But it was thou, who in my estimation was, my lord, and of my own family. ¹⁴ We took sweet counsel together and walked unto the house of God in company. ¹⁵ Let them be condemned unto death, and let them go down alive into Sheol for wickedness is in their dwellings and among them.

³⁰ ¶ There is no wisdom nor intelligence nor counsel against the LORD.

²⁴ ¶ He that hates dissembles with his lips and lays up deceit within him; ²⁵ when he speaks fair, do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart.

⁵ that there came certain men of Shechem, of Shiloh, and of Samaria, eighty men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD. ⁶ And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam. ⁷ And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them and cast them into the midst of a pit, he, and the men that were with him.

³⁷ ¶ Mem Who shall he be that saith that something comes which the Lord has not sent?

⁴⁸ Now he that betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; hold him fast. ⁴⁹ And forthwith he came to Jesus and said, Receive joy, master; and kissed him.

²⁰ ¶ And they watched him and sent forth spies who feigned themselves just men that they might take hold of him as he was speaking, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. ²¹ And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither dost thou accept the person of any, but teachest the way of God with truth;

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness. ²⁰ And again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

¹² Lamed Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

¹ ¶ My son, if thou wilt receive my words and hide my commandments within thee ² so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom and apply thine heart to intelligence, ³ yea, if thou criest for understanding and givest thy voice unto intelligence, ⁴ if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures, ⁵ then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and intelligence.

¹⁷ I love those that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me.

² saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him.

¹⁹ ¶ We have also the most sure word of the prophets, unto which ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts,

¹³ He made him ride on the high places of the earth that he might eat the fruits of the field; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock and oil out of the strong flint,

⁴ O let the Gentiles be glad and sing for joy, for thou shalt judge the people righteously and shepherd the Gentiles upon the earth. Selah.

³ Glory in his holy name; let the heart of those that seek the LORD rejoice.

¹⁰ But the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you a gospel of great joy, which shall be to all the people.

²⁰ And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas speaking with freedom, said, It was necessary indeed that the word of God should first have been spoken to you; but seeing ye put it from you and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. ⁴⁷ For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles that thou should be for saving health unto the ends of the earth. ⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord, and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

⁹ but that the Gentiles glorify God by mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess thee among the Gentiles and sing unto thy name. ¹⁰ And again he says, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. ¹¹ And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and magnify him, all the peoples. ¹² And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles shall wait for salvation. ¹³ ¶ And believing, the God of hope fills you with all joy and peace that ye may abound in hope by the virtue of the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ ¶ Then their father Israel answered them, If it must be so now, do this: take of the best fruits of the land in your vessels and take the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, aromas, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds.

²³ Thou must take unto thee of the principal spices: of excellent myrrh five hundred shekels and of aromatic cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of aromatic calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,

³⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee aromas, stacte and onycha and aromatic galbanum and pure frankincense, of each in equal weight.

¹ ¶ And when any person will offer a present unto the LORD, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it and put frankincense thereon; ² and he shall bring it to Aaron’s sons the priests, who shall take out a handful of the flour thereof, with its oil, with all its frankincense; and the priest shall incense it upon the altar, to be an offering on fire, of an aroma very acceptable unto the LORD.

¹⁵ And he shall take of it a handful of the flour of the present and of the oil thereof and all the frankincense which is upon the present and shall incense it upon the altar in an aroma of rest unto the LORD for a memorial.

¹⁴ one spoon of ten shekels of gold, full of incense;

⁸⁶ The twelve golden spoons full of incense, ten shekels apiece, after the shekel of the sanctuary; all the gold of the spoons was one hundred and twenty shekels.

²⁷ But the sons of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him and brought him no presents. But he pretended not to notice.

² And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices and very much gold and precious stones; and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

¹⁰ And she gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold and a very great store of spices and precious stones; never again did there come such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

¹² Kiss the Son lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way when his wrath is kindled in a little while. Blessed are all those that put their trust in him.

⁸ All thy garments smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made thee glad.

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

¹⁵ And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba; prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily he shall be given blessings.

⁶ O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

⁶ The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall show forth the praises of the LORD.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same, my name is great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered unto my name, and a clean offering; for my name is great among the Gentiles, said the LORD of the hosts.

⁹ and said unto him, All these things I will give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me. ¹⁰ Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

³³ Then those that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Truly thou art the Son of God.

¹⁶ And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger.

²⁶ And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he should see the Christ of the Lord. ²⁷ And he came by the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, ²⁸ then he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, ²⁹ Lord, now let thy slave depart in peace, according to thy word, ³⁰ for mine eyes have seen thy saving health, ³¹ which thou hast prepared before the face of all the peoples: ³² a light to be revealed unto the Gentiles and the glory of thy people Israel.

³⁸ And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord and spoke of him to all those that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

²² For the Father judges no man but has committed all judgment unto the Son ²³ that everyone should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who has sent him.

²⁵ And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him. ²⁶ But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

⁸ And when he had taken the book, the four animals and the twenty-four elders fell on their faces before the Lamb, each one of them having harps, and golden vials full of incense, which are the prayers of saints.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant and with thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus; worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

⁸ And I, John, saw these things and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. ⁹ Then he said unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowslave and with thy brethren the prophets and with those who keep the words of this book: worship God. ¹⁰ And he said unto me, do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is at hand.

⁶ And God said unto him in a dream, Yes, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me; therefore I did not allow thee to touch her. ⁷ Now therefore restore the man his wife, for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live. And if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou and all that are thine.

²⁴ And God came to Laban the Aramean in dreams by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

¹⁷ But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them but gave the men children their lives.

¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; ¹⁶ then he opens the ears of men and seals their instruction, ¹⁷ that he may withdraw the man from his own work and cover the man from pride.

¹⁹ Then the mystery was revealed unto Daniel in a night vision for which Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

²⁰ But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in dreams, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

¹³ ¶ And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in dreams, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt and remain there until I bring thee word, for Herod will seek the young child to kill him.

²² But when he heard that Archelaus reigned in Judaea in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there; notwithstanding, being warned by divine revelation in dreams, he withdrew into the parts of Galilee,

¹⁹ When he was seated upon the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

¹⁹ Then Peter and John answered and said unto them, Judge whether it is right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God.

²⁹ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We must persuade God rather than men.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness.

⁷ By faith Noah, having received revelation of things not seen as yet, with great care prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by which he condemned the world and was made heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

²² Then Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall give them their lives.

² who conceived and gave birth to a son, and seeing that he was beautiful, she hid him three months. ³ And when she could no longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes and daubed it with slime and with pitch and put the child in it, and she laid it in the reeds by the river’s brink.

¹³ And when the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off; for the waters that come down from above shall stand in a heap.

¹⁷ But the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan until all the people finished passing the Jordan; and all Israel passed on dry ground.

¹⁰ ¶ For the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua; and the people made haste and passed.

¹⁸ And it came to pass, when the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD came up out of the midst of the Jordan and the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of the Jordan returned unto their place, flowing as before over all its banks.

¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

¹⁷ that he may withdraw the man from his own work and cover the man from pride.

²⁵ He answered and said, Behold, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. ²⁶ Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.

¹² And being warned by divine revelation in dreams that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

¹⁶ ¶ Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth and sent forth and killed all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had understood of the wise men.

¹⁹ ¶ But when Herod was dead, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared in dreams to Joseph in Egypt, ²⁰ saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother and go into the land of Israel, for they are dead who sought the death of the young child.

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another, for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel until the Son of man be come.

¹⁹ But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors and brought them forth and said,

¹⁹ The same dealt subtly with our kindred and mistreated our fathers so that they exposed their babies to death, to the end that the generation would cease.

⁷ And when the angel who spoke unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those that waited on him continually;

²² And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man and one that fears God and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house and to hear words of thee.

¹¹ And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety that the Lord has sent his angel and has delivered me out of the hand of Herod and from all the people of the Jews who waited for me.

³⁶ And the keeper of the prison made these words known unto Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore depart and go in peace.

¹³ But to which of the angels did he say at any time, Sit on my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool? ¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth in service for the love of those who are the heirs of saving health?

⁴ And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered, to devour her child as soon as it was born.

⁶ And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and sixty days.

¹⁴ And to the woman were given two wings of the great eagle that she might fly from the presence of the serpent into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time and times.

²⁴ Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him and took unto him his wife

²⁰ saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother and go into the land of Israel, for they are dead who sought the death of the young child. ²¹ And he arose and took the young child and his mother and came into the land of Israel.

²¹ For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple and went about to kill me.

²² And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, The LORD hath said thus: Israel is my son, even my firstborn.

⁸ God brought him forth out of Egypt; he has, as it were, the strength of a unicorn; he shall eat up the Gentiles his enemies and shall break their bones and pierce them through with his arrows.

¹ ¶ When Israel was a boy, I loved him and called my son out of Egypt.

²² Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

¹⁷ Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, saying,

²³ and he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophets, that he shall be called a Nazarene.

¹⁴ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, ¹⁵ The land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

¹⁷ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.

¹⁶ and strictly charged them that they should not make him known; ¹⁷ so that it which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, who said, ¹⁸ Behold my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased; I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall declare judgment unto the Gentiles.

⁴ All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled that thus it must be?

⁵⁶ But all this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him and fled.

³⁵ And they crucified him and parted his garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my raiment did they cast lots.

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the psalms, concerning me.

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst.

³⁶ For these things were done that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

¹⁶ Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who was guide to those that took Jesus.

¹ ¶ Now at that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to mistreat certain of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}. ² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. ³ And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) ⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him, intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.

²³ And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him because he did not give God the glory, and he expired eaten of worms. ²⁴ But the word of the Lord grew and multiplied.

¹⁴ that she called unto those of her house and spoke unto them, saying, See, he has brought in a Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice;

¹⁷ And she spoke unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew slave, whom thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to dishonour me;

⁷ Cursed be their anger, which is strong, and their wrath, which is hard; I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel.

²⁹ And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me. I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now would I kill thee.

¹⁰ ¶ Then Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and smiting his hands together he said, I called thee to curse my enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

¹⁰ Then Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me and told me lies; now tell me, I pray thee, how thou might be bound.

¹² Then Hazael said unto him, Why does my lord weep? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the sons of Israel; their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword and wilt dash their children and rip up their women with child.

⁴ He who invokes God and he answers him is mocked by his friend; the just and perfect man is laughed to scorn.

³ ¶ A stone is heavy and the sand weighty; but a fool’s wrath is heavier than them both. ⁴ Wrath is cruel, and anger is impetuous, but who is able to stand before envy?

¹⁵ ¶ As a roaring lion and a hungry bear, so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

¹⁷ ¶ A man that does violence to the blood of any person shall flee all the way to the grave, and no one shall sustain him.

²¹ For, behold, the LORD comes out of his place to visit the iniquity of the inhabitant of the earth against himself: the earth also shall disclose her blood and shall no longer cover her slain.

⁷ Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are their paths.

¹³ Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

¹⁹ ¶ Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was customary to be heated. ²⁰ And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

¹⁴ Therefore, in thy peoples a tumult shall arise, and all thy fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her sons.

⁶ And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus; and when I saw her, I marvelled with great surprise.

¹⁶ ¶ And they journeyed from Bethel, and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath when Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour. ¹⁷ And it came to pass when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also. ¹⁸ And it came to pass as her soul was departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni, but his father called him Benjamin. ¹⁹ Thus Rachel died and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem. ²⁰ And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave; that is the pillar of Rachel’s grave unto this day.

³⁰ And he returned unto his brethren and said, The young man is not; and I, where shall I go?

³³ And he knew it and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast has devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces. ³⁴ Then Jacob rent his clothes and put sackcloth upon his loins and mourned for his son many days. ³⁵ And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted, and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

³⁶ And Jacob, their father, said unto them, Ye have bereaved me of my sons: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away; all these things are upon me.

¹⁰ But when man shall die and be cut off, and the man shall perish, where shall he be?

³¹ For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her that brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewails herself, that spreads her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is faint because of the murderers.

¹⁷ Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, Consider ye and call for the mourning women that they may come and send for cunning women that they may come, ¹⁸ and let them make haste and take up a wailing for us that our eyes may run down with tears and our eyelids gush out with waters. ¹⁹ For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we destroyed! We are greatly confounded. Why have we forsaken the land? Why have our dwellings cast us out? ²⁰ Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth and teach your daughters wailing and each one her neighbour lamentation. ²¹ For death is come up into our windows and is entered into our palaces to cut off the children from without and the young men from the streets.

¹⁵ Thus hath the LORD said; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her sons, she refused to be comforted regarding her sons, because they perished.

¹⁰ and he spread it before me; and it was written within and without; and there was written therein lamentations and mourning and woes.

¹³ And I saw and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, who are yet to sound their trumpets!

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall cause praise to come unto thee; the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

⁷ ¶ Where shall I go from thy spirit? or where shall I flee from thy presence?

¹² I, even I, am he that comforts you. Who art thou that thou should be afraid of man that is mortal and of the son of man which shall be counted as stubble?

¹⁰ ¶ Therefore fear thou not, O my slave Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I am he that saves thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall turn, and shall rest, and be quiet, and there shall be no one left to scatter him.

¹⁶ Therefore say, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I will be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.

²⁵ And with his understanding he shall cause the deceit in his hand to prosper, and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace he shall destroy many; he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes, and without hand he shall be broken.

⁴⁵ And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas, in the desirable mountain of the sanctuary; and he shall come to his end, and shall have no one to help him.

¹² And being warned by divine revelation in dreams that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. ¹³ ¶ And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in dreams, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt and remain there until I bring thee word, for Herod will seek the young child to kill him.

¹⁹ And the LORD also said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt, for all the men are dead who sought thy life.

²¹ And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers and that Joab, the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart that I may go to my own land.

⁴⁰ Solomon sought, therefore, to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt unto Shishak, king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

¹ ¶ And Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king. ² And it came to pass, when Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it (for he had fled from the presence of King Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt), ³ that they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came and spoke unto Rehoboam, saying,

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. ⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

²² ¶ Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

⁸ By faith Abraham, being called, hearkened to go out into the place which he should afterwards receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he went.

¹⁷ And it came to pass as they brought them forth outside, that he said, Escape; for thy soul, do not look behind thee, neither stop thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. ¹⁸ And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my lords; ¹⁹ behold now, thy slave has found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast showed unto me in saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die. ²⁰ Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one; Oh, let me escape there, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. ²¹ And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also that I will not overthrow the city for which thou hast spoken.

² And Samuel said, How can I go? If Saul understands it, he will kill me. And the LORD said, Take a heifer with thee and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD.

¹⁴ For this God is our God eternally and for ever; he will be our guide even unto death.

²⁴ Thou hast guided me with thy counsel, and afterward thou shalt receive me unto glory.

⁶ Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. ⁷ And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

⁸ The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

²¹ Then thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, that ye not turn to the right hand and that ye not turn to the left hand.

¹⁷ Thus has the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel said: I am the LORD thy God who teaches thee to profit, who causes thee to walk by the way in which thou dost walk. ¹⁸ O that thou would look unto my commandments! Then thy peace would be as a river and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

¹³ ¶ Then Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan unto John to be baptized of him.

³⁹ And when they had completed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee to their own city Nazareth.

⁴¹ Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall the Christ come out of Galilee? ⁴² Has not the scripture said, That the Christ comes of the seed of David and out of the town of Bethlehem where David was?

⁵² They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and see, for a prophet has never arisen out of Galilee.

¹³ Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, of how much evil he has done to thy saints in Jerusalem, ¹⁴ and even here he has authority from the princes of the priests to bind all that call on thy name.

¹³ This is, therefore, the law of the Nazarite, in the day in which their Nazariteship is fulfilled: they shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the testimony;

⁵ For thou shalt conceive and bear a son, and no razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb; and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

¹¹ and she vowed a vow and said, O LORD of the hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid and remember me and not forget thy handmaid but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.

⁹ For the zeal of thy house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those that reproached thee are fallen upon me. ¹⁰ When I wept with fasting of my soul, thou hast been a reproach unto me.

¹ ¶ Who shall believe our report? and upon whom shall the arm of the LORD be manifested? ² With all this he shall grow up before him as a tender sprout and as a root out of a dry ground. There is no outward appearance in him, nor beauty. We shall see him, yet nothing attractive about him that we should desire him.

¹⁰ Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt and led you forty years through the wilderness that you might possess the land of the Amorite. ¹¹ And I raised up of your sons for prophets and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye sons of Israel? said the LORD. ¹² But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Do not prophesy.

⁷¹ And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him and said unto those that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

²⁴ saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

²⁶ ¶ And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and said unto him, We have found him of whom Moses in the law and the prophets wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said unto him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said unto him, Come and see.

⁵ They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said unto them, I AM. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them.

⁷ Then he asked them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

²² Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know,

⁵ For we have found this man a pestilent fellow and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world and prince of the seditious sect of the Nazarenes,
