²⁷ For as the lightning that comes out of the east and shines even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³ He shall place it straight under the whole of the heavens, and his light shall extend unto the ends of the earth.

³⁵ Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

³⁰ And the LORD shall cause the power of his voice to be heard and shall cause the lighting down of his arm to be seen, with the indignation of his countenance and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering and tempest and hailstones.

¹⁴ And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the shofar and shall go forth as the whirlwinds of the south.

² But who may abide the time of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he shall be like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap:

⁵ Behold, I send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD:

²⁰ And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.

²⁸ Verily I say unto you, There are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the age?

³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

²⁴ For as the lightning, which shines from the region under heaven, shines in that which is under heaven; so also shall the Son of man be in his day. ²⁵ But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation. ²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. ³⁰ Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. ³¹ In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not turn back. ³² Remember Lot’s wife. ³³ Whosoever shall seek to save his soul shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall cause it to live. ³⁴ I tell you in that night there shall be two men in one bed: the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. ³⁵ Two women shall be grinding together: the one shall be taken, and the other left. ³⁶ Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. ³⁷ And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

⁸ Be ye also patient and confirm your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws near.

⁴ and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the day in which the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
