¹⁸ ¶ Whosoever keeps the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof, so he that waits on his master shall be honoured.

² And Abraham said unto his eldest slave of his house, who ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, ³ and I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of the heavens and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;

² But the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prospered man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. ³ And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. ⁴ So Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him; and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. ⁵ And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house and in the field.

²² And the prince of the house of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatever they did there, he was the doer of it. ²³ The prince of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.

¹³ And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua, and Moses went up into the mount of God.

³⁰ Therefore, the LORD God of Israel said, I had said indeed that thy house and the house of thy father should walk before me for ever, but now the LORD said, It shall never be; for those that honor me I will honor, and those that lightly esteem me shall be vile.

¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not a prophet of the LORD here, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s slaves answered and said, Here is Elisha, the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

² And the Syrians had gone out by companies and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid, and she waited on Naaman’s wife. ³ And she said unto her mistress, If my lord would ask the prophet that is in Samaria, he would remove his leprosy.

²⁵ But when he went in and stood before his master, Elisha said unto him, From where comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went nowhere.

²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

² Behold, as the eyes of slaves look unto the hand of their masters and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress, so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until he shall have mercy upon us.

² ¶ A prudent slave shall have rule over a son that causes shame and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.

²⁹ ¶ Seest thou a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.

¹² My vineyard, which is mine, is before me; the thousand pieces shall be thine, O Solomon, and two hundred for those that keep the fruit.

²⁵ Behold, I have told you before.

⁴⁶ Blessed is that slave whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.

²¹ His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ²² He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou didst deliver unto me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

⁴³ But it shall not be like this among you, for whosoever desires to make himself great among you shall be your servant;

³⁷ Blessed are those slaves, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching; verily I say unto you that he shall gird himself and make them to sit down to food and will come forth and serve them.

⁴³ Blessed is that slave whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing. ⁴⁴ Of a truth I say unto you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.

¹⁷ And he said unto him, Well done, thou good slave; because thou hast been faithful in a very little, thou shalt have authority over ten cities.

²⁶ If anyone serves me, let them follow me; and where I am, there shall my servant be also; the one that serves me, will my Father honour.

⁷ And when the angel who spoke unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those that waited on him continually;

⁸ Now he that plants and he that waters are one although each one shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

⁷ Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? or who feeds a flock and does not eat of the milk of the flock?

¹³ Do ye not know that those who work with sacred things live of the things of the sanctuary? and those who serve at the altar partake of the altar?

²² Slaves, in all things hearken unto your masters according to the flesh, not serving to be seen as those who only please men, but in simplicity of heart, fearing God;

⁶ The husbandman, in order to receive the fruits, must first work hard.

¹⁸ Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and humane, but also to the unjust.

²¹ Because for this were ye called: for the Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps
