¹ A Song of degrees. ¶ Those that trust in the LORD are as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed but abides for ever. ² As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from now on even for ever. ³ For the rod of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous because the righteous shall not put forth their hands unto iniquity. ⁴ ¶ Do good, O LORD, unto those that are good and to those that are upright in their hearts. ⁵ As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall take them away with the workers of iniquity; and peace shall be upon Israel.

²⁰ And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand and all that were with them, for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them because they put their trust in him.

¹³ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired her for his habitation. ¹⁴ This shall be my rest for ever; here I will dwell; for I have desired her.

¹¹ The LORD takes pleasure in those that fear him, in those that wait upon his mercy.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. ⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

⁶ Rejoice and sing, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

³² What shall one then answer the messengers of the Gentiles? That the LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people shall have confidence.

⁸ For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my saving health from age to age.

¹¹ Therefore the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head; they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

¹⁶ That has placed my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee with the shadow of my hand, that thou may plant the heavens and lay the foundations of the earth and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

¹ ¶ Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for from now on the uncircumcised and the unclean shall no longer come into thee.

⁷ ¶ How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good tidings, that publishes peace, that brings good tidings of good, that publishes saving health, that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigns! ⁸ The voice of thy watchmen! They shall lift up the voice; together they shall rejoice: for they shall see eye to eye, how the LORD shall return to bring again Zion.

⁷ Blessed is the man that is steadfast in the LORD and whose trust is the LORD. ⁸ For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, that spreads out her roots by the river and shall not see when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green and shall not be fatigued in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

²¹ And saviours shall come up unto Mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’s.

² And many Gentiles shall come and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth from Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹⁴ So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of the hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

¹⁷ Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of the hosts, My cities through abundance of good shall yet be widened; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

²¹ who by him do believe God, who raised him up from the dead and has given him glory: that your faith and hope might be in God.

¹ ¶ And I saw and, behold, the Lamb stood upon Mount Sion and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand, having the name of his Father written in their foreheads.

²⁷ The habitation of God is eternal, and underneath the everlasting arms; he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee and shall say, Destroy them.

⁷ Zain The angel of the LORD encamps round about those that fear him and delivers them.

⁸ The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

⁵ And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of Mount Zion and upon the places of her assemblies a cloud and darkness by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night because over all glory there shall be a covering.

¹² Lamed The kings of the earth and all the inhabitants of the world never believed that the adversary and the enemy would enter in through the gates of Jerusalem.

⁵ For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about and will be the glory in the midst of her.

²⁸ and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

¹⁰ Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee today into my hand in the cave, and some bade me kill thee, but I forgave thee, and I said, I will not put forth my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD’s anointed.

²⁰ He has put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him; he has defiled his covenant.

²² The enemy shall not overcome him, nor the son of iniquity break him down.

⁹ He will not always chide, neither will he keep his anger for ever.

¹⁴ For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

⁸ ¶ He that sows iniquity shall reap iniquity, and the rod of his anger shall fail.

⁵ ¶ O Assyrian, rod and staff of my anger, in thy hand have I placed my indignation.

⁵ The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked and the sceptre of the rulers ⁶ who smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the Gentiles in anger and who did not defend the persecuted.

⁸ In measure, she shall be chastised in her stalks: he stays his rough wind in the day of the east wind.

¹³ No temptation has taken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer; behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

¹⁰ ¶ My shield is in God, he who saves the upright in heart.

² Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD does not impute iniquity and in whose spirit there is no guile.

¹⁰ Extend thy mercy unto those that know thee and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

A Psalm of David. ¶ Blessed is he that understands regarding the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of evil. ² The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth, and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. ³ The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing; thou wilt soften all his bed in his sickness.

¹⁸ Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion; build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

¹ ¶ Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are pure in heart.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield unto us; the LORD will give grace and glory; he will not withhold good from those that walk uprightly.

¹⁵ But the judgment shall be returned unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

⁶⁸ ¶ Thou art good and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

⁸⁰ ¶ Let my heart be perfect in thy statutes that I not be ashamed.

¹⁰ and if thou pour out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: ¹¹ And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

²⁵ Teth The LORD is good unto those that wait in him, to the soul that seeks him.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him and said of him, Behold a true Israelite, in whom is no guile!

¹⁰ For God is not unjust to forget your work and labour of charity which ye have showed in his name, having helped the saints and helping them.

¹⁷ But whosoever has this world’s goods and sees his brother have need and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how does the charity of God abide in him? ¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth. ¹⁹ And in this we know that we are of the truth and have our hearts certified before him. ²⁰ ¶ And if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then we have confidence in God; ²² and whatsoever we ask, we receive of him because we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. ²³ ¶ And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he has commanded us. ²⁴ And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And in this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us.

⁵ And in their mouth was found no guile, for they are without blemish before the throne of God.

¹³ So Saul died for his rebellion which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he did not keep, and also for consulting a spiritist, to enquire of her ¹⁴ and not enquire of the LORD; therefore, he slew him and turned the kingdom unto David, the son of Jesse.

¹¹ My feet have held to his steps, I have kept his way, and have not departed.

⁴ Blessed is that man that makes the LORD his trust and does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

⁷ ¶ The wicked spring forth as the grass, and all the workers of iniquity blossom, so that they shall be destroyed for ever:

⁴ How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

³ I will set nothing of Belial before my eyes: I hate the work of those that betray; it shall not cleave to me.

⁶ Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children and peace upon Israel.

¹⁵ whose ways are crooked, and they are crooked in their paths;

¹⁴ ¶ The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man shall be separated from him.

¹⁰ For the mountains shall be removed, and the hills shall tremble; but my mercy shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be changed, said the LORD that has mercy on thee.

¹³ And all thy sons shall be taught of the LORD; and the peace of thy sons shall be multiplied.

⁸ The way of peace they did not know; nor is there anything straight about their ways; they have wilfully made themselves crooked paths; whosoever goes therein shall not know peace.

¹⁹ Thine own wickedness shall chastise thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee; know therefore and see how evil and bitter it is, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God and that my fear is lacking in thee, saith the Lord GOD of the hosts.

²⁶ Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will plant them and multiply them and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

¹⁸ And in that time I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and with the fowls of the heaven and with the serpents of the earth; and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle of the earth and will cause them to sleep safely.

⁶ and those that have turned back from following the LORD and those that did not seek the LORD, nor enquired about him.

²³ And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

⁴⁸ But and if that evil slave shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming, ⁴⁹ and shall begin to smite his fellowslaves and even to eat and drink with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that slave shall come in a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of ⁵¹ and shall cut him off and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

¹⁶ And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

¹⁵ that ye may be blameless and innocent, children of God without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world,

³⁸ Now the just shall live by faith, but if any man draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

² chosen (according to the foreknowledge of God the Father) in sanctification of the Spirit, to obey and be sprinkled with the blood of Jesus, the Christ, Grace and peace, be multiplied unto you.
