³ Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast refined me and hast found no iniquity; that which I thought did not pass through my mouth.

¹⁰ Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee today into my hand in the cave, and some bade me kill thee, but I forgave thee, and I said, I will not put forth my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD’s anointed.

¹² The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee, but my hand shall not be upon thee.

¹¹ the LORD forbid that I should stretch forth my hand against the LORD’s anointed; but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his head and the cruse of water and let us go.

²³ The LORD render to each one his righteousness and his faithfulness, for the LORD delivered thee into my hand today, but I would not stretch forth my hand against the LORD’s anointed.

¹⁰ But he has known the way that I take; he has tried me, and I have come forth as gold.

¹⁴ The murderer rises with the light, kills the poor and the needy, and in the night is as a thief.

⁴ if I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me, then let my persecutor escape without retribution.

⁵ The LORD tries the righteous, but the wicked and he that loves violence his soul hates.

⁷ I will bless the LORD, who gives me counsel: my kidneys also instruct me in the night seasons.

² Examine me, O LORD and prove me; melt my kidneys and my heart.

A Psalm of David. ¶ I said, I will take heed to my ways that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bit while the wicked is against me.

¹⁷ ¶ All this is come upon us; yet we have not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. ¹⁸ Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way ¹⁹ though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons and covered us with the shadow of death. ²⁰ If we have forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a strange god, ²¹ shall not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

³ ¶ He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: but he that opens his lips often shall have calamity.

²⁰ In those days, and in that time, said the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon those whom I shall have left.

⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven while they lie in wait; their baker sleeps all night; in the morning it burns as a flaming fire.

¹ ¶ Woe unto those that devise iniquity and fabricate evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they put it into effect because they have power in their hands.

⁹ And I will put the third part into the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; He shall call on my name, and I will hear him; I will say, My people, and he shall say, The LORD is my God.

² But who may abide the time of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he shall be like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap:

²³ Who, when he came and had seen the grace of God, was glad and exhorted them all to remain in their purpose of heart in the Lord.

⁹ And a vision was shown to Paul in the night: There stood a man of Macedonia, asking him, saying, Come over into Macedonia and help us.

⁹ Then the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent, ¹⁰ For I am with thee, and no one shall be able to hurt thee, for I have many people in this city.

⁴ For although I have nothing on my conscience, yet am I not hereby justified, but he that judges me is the Lord.

¹² ¶ For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with carnal wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world and more abundantly towards you.

² For we all offend in many things. If any man offends not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to govern the whole body with restraint.

⁷ that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold (which perishes, nevertheless it is tried with fire), might be found unto praise and glory and honour when Jesus, the Christ, is made manifest;
