⁶ ¶ I will wash my hands in innocency, so I will walk near unto thine altar, O LORD:

¹⁹ And from it Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet. ²⁰ When they go into the tabernacle of the testimony, they shall wash with water that they not die, or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn the offering unto the LORD that must be consumed by fire,

⁴ He that has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not taken my name in vain, nor sworn deceitfully.

⁴ Then I will enter in to the altar of God, unto the God of my exceeding joy; yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

¹³ Verily, in vain have I cleansed my heart and washed my hands in innocency

¹⁶ ¶ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil; ¹⁷ learn to do good; seek judgment; restore unto the oppressed; hear the fatherless in right judgment; protect the widow. ¹⁸ Then come, shall the LORD say, and we shall be even; if your sins were as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow; if they were red like crimson, they shall become as wool.

¹¹ Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holiness of the LORD by loving and marrying the daughter of a strange god. ¹² The LORD will cut off the man that does this, the master and the scholar out of the tabernacles of Jacob and him that offers an offering unto the LORD of the hosts. ¹³ And once again ye shall cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, for I shall not even look at the offering any more to receive a free will offering from your hand.

²³ Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remember that thy brother has something against thee; ²⁴ leave thy gift there before the altar, and go; first restore friendship with thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

²⁸ But let each man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. ²⁹ For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

⁸ I desire, therefore, that the men in every place, pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and strife.

⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

¹⁹ ¶ Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; ²¹ and having that great priest over the house of God, ²² let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts purified from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water;
