⁸ Make me to hear joy and gladness that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

¹⁷ ¶ Behold, blessed is the man whom God chastens; therefore, do not despise not the correction of the Almighty. ¹⁸ For he makes sore, and binds up; he wounds, and his hands make whole.

² Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. ³ My soul is also greatly troubled; but thou, O LORD, how long?

⁵ But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

¹¹ Thou hast turned my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness;

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, who delivers the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoils him?

³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

⁸¹ ¶ CAPH. My soul faints with desire for thy salvation as I await thy word. ⁸² Mine eyes fail for thy spoken word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

⁵ Those that sow with tears shall reap with joy. ⁶ He that goes forth and weeps, bearing the precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with songs; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall retain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

¹⁵ For thus has said the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is The Holy One; I dwell in the high place and in holiness and with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit to cause the spirit of the humble to live and to cause the heart of the contrite ones to live. ¹⁶ For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for by me is the spirit covered by the body, and I have made the souls. ¹⁷ ¶ For the iniquity of his covetousness I was wroth and smote him: I hid my face and was wroth, and he went on rebelliously in the way of his heart. ¹⁸ I have seen his ways and will heal him: I will lead him also and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

¹ ¶ Come, and let us return unto the LORD; for he has torn, and he will heal us; he has smitten, and he will bind us up. ² After two days he shall give us life: in the third day he will resurrect us, and we shall live in his sight.

⁴ Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are broken,

³⁷ ¶ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? ³⁸ Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized each one of you into the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For the promise is unto you and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. ⁴⁰ And with many other words he testified and exhorted, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation. ⁴¹ So that those who gladly received his word were baptized, and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

²⁹ Then he called for a light and came inside and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas ³⁰ and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. ³² And they spoke unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. ³³ And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. ³⁴ And when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
