¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm and Song of David. ¶ Praise doth rest in thee, O God, in Sion and unto thee shall the vow be performed. ² O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. ³ Words of iniquity overwhelmed me, but thou shalt purge away our rebellion. ⁴ Blessed is the man whom thou dost choose and cause to approach unto thee that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house even of thy holy temple. ⁵ With tremendous things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our saving health, who art the hope of all the ends of the earth and of those that are afar off upon the sea: ⁶ ¶ Thou art he who doth establish the mountains by thy strength, being girded with valour: ⁷ He who stills the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves and the tumult of the Gentiles. ⁸ They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy wonders; thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice. ⁹ Thou dost visit the earth, and when thou hast caused it to want, thou dost greatly enrich it with the river of God, which is full of water; thou dost prepare their grain, according to thy will. ¹⁰ Thou dost water its rows abundantly; thou dost settle its furrows; thou dost make it soft with showers of rain; thou dost bless its sprouting. ¹¹ Thou dost crown the year with thy goodness, and thy clouds distill fatness. ¹² They fall upon the habitations of the wilderness; and the hills gird themselves with happiness. ¹³ The plains clothe themselves with sheep, and the valleys cover themselves with grain; they give shouts of triumph, they even sing.

⁷ And David dwelt in the fortress; therefore, they called it the city of David.

²⁹ And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw King David dancing and playing, and she despised him in her heart.

⁴¹ and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest that were chosen expressly by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy is eternal. ⁴² And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals to sound, and with other musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

¹ ¶ Moreover David and the captains of the host separated unto the ministry the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals; and the number of men that were suitable for the work of their respective ministry was, ² of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied at the hand of the king. ³ Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hand of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD. ⁴ Of Heman: the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were the sons of Heman, the king’s seer, in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. ⁶ All these were under the direction of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the ministry of the house of God, under the hand of the king, of Asaph, of Jeduthun, and of Heman. ⁷ So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD, even all that had understanding, was two hundred eighty-eight. ⁸ ¶ And they cast lots, ward against ward, the small as well as the great, the one with understanding as well as the disciple. ⁹ Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph; the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons were twelve; ¹⁰ the third to Zaccur, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹¹ the fourth to Izri, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹² the fifth to Nethaniah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹³ the sixth to Bukkiah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹⁴ the seventh to Jesharelah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹⁵ the eighth to Jeshaiah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹⁶ the ninth to Mattaniah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹⁷ the tenth to Shimei, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹⁸ the eleventh to Azareel, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ¹⁹ the twelfth to Hashabiah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²⁰ the thirteenth to Shubael, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²¹ the fourteenth to Mattithiah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²² the fifteenth to Jeremoth, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²³ the sixteenth to Hananiah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²⁴ the seventeenth to Joshbekashah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²⁵ the eighteenth to Hanani, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²⁶ the nineteenth to Mallothi, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve: ²⁷ the twentieth to Eliathah, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²⁸ the twenty-first to Hothir, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ²⁹ the twenty-second to Giddalti, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ³⁰ the twenty-third to Mahazioth, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve; ³¹ the twenty-fourth to Romamtiezer, he, his sons, and his brethren were twelve.

¹³ Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy valour.

¹ To the Overcomer, to Jeduthun,
A Psalm of David. ¶ Only in God does my soul rest; from him comes my saving health.

² In Salem also is his tabernacle and his dwelling place in Zion.

¹¹ Vow and pay unto the LORD your God; let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

⁶⁸ But chose the tribe of Judah, the Mount Zion which he loved. ⁶⁹ And he built his sanctuary in preeminence like the earth which he has established for ever.

¹ ¶ Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy and for thy truth. ² Why should the Gentiles say, Where is now their God?

¹⁷ I will offer unto thee the sacrifice of praise and will invoke the name of the LORD. ¹⁸ I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,

¹ ¶ And I saw and, behold, the Lamb stood upon Mount Sion and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand, having the name of his Father written in their foreheads. ² And I heard a voice from heaven as the voice of many waters and as the voice of a great thunder; and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps; ³ and they sang as it were a new song before the throne and before the four animals and the elders; and no one could learn that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who were redeemed from the earth.

²⁹ And when midday was past, even so they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, and there was neither voice nor anyone that answered nor anyone that heard.

³⁷ Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God and that thou shalt convert their heart back again to thee.

¹³ and when he prayed unto him, he was heard; for he heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.

²⁷ All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn unto the LORD; and all the families of the Gentiles shall worship before thee.

⁴ All the earth shall worship thee and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.

¹⁹ But verily God has heard me; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.

⁹ All the Gentiles whom thou hast made shall come and humble themselves before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.

¹⁷ He shall have regarded the prayer of those who are alone and destitute and not despised their prayer.

¹⁸ Koph The LORD is near unto all those that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. ¹⁹ Resh He will fulfil the desire of those that fear him; he also will hear their cry and will save them.

⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my slave to wake up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the desolations of Israel; I have also given thee for a light to the Gentiles that thou may be my saving health unto the end of the earth.

²⁴ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

²³ And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another and from one sabbath to another all flesh shall come to worship before me, said the LORD.

¹² Then ye shall call upon me, and ye shall walk in my ways and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. ¹³ And ye shall seek me, and find me, for ye shall seek me with all your heart.

¹⁷ Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy slave and his supplications and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is made desolate, by the Lord. ¹⁸ O my God, incline thine ear and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee confiding in our righteousnesses, but in thy many mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

⁹ And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. ¹⁰ For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

³¹ and said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

¹⁴ ¶ And this is the confidence that we have in God, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us: ¹⁵ And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have the petitions that we asked of him.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded the trumpet, and there were great voices in the heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are reduced unto our Lord and to his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

⁷ Then Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus hath said the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul, ⁸ and I gave thee thy master’s house and thy master’s wives into thy bosom and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah, and if that is too little, I shall add unto thee such and such things. ⁹ Why, therefore, hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? Thou hast killed Uriah, the Hittite, with the sword and hast taken his wife to be thy wife and hast slain him with the sword of the sons of Ammon. ¹⁰ Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from thy house because thou hast despised me and hast taken the wife of Uriah, the Hittite, to be thy wife. ¹¹ Thus hath the LORD said, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thy own house, and I will take thy wives before thy eyes and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. ¹² For thou hast done it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun. ¹³ Then David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also has taken away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

⁴ For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

¹² For innumerable evils have compassed me about; my iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to see; they are more than the hairs of my head; therefore my heart fails me.

² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. ³ For I acknowledge my rebellion; and my sin is ever before me.

⁷ ¶ Remove the sin in me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

⁹ Help us, O God, our saving health, for the honor of thy name and deliver us and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

¹⁸ Then come, shall the LORD say, and we shall be even; if your sins were as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow; if they were red like crimson, they shall become as wool. ¹⁹ If ye are willing and hearken, ye shall eat the good of the land;

⁷ And he laid it upon my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched thy lips; and it shall take away thy guilt, and thy sin shall be cleansed.

⁸ Do not rejoice against me, O my enemy; for if I have fallen, I shall arise; if I sit in darkness, the LORD is my light. ⁹ I will bear the indignation of the LORD because I have sinned against him, until he has judged my cause and executed my judgment; he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

¹ ¶ In that time there shall be an open fountain for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem against sin and against uncleanness.

²⁹ ¶ The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

²³ but I see another law in my members which rebels against the law of my mind, bringing captive unto the law of sin which is in my members. ²⁴ O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? ²⁵ The grace of God, by Jesus, the Christ, our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

¹⁷ For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of the Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from the works of death to serve the living God?

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have communion with him in the midst of us, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son cleanses us from all sin. ⁸ ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁵ and from Jesus, the Christ, who is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins with his own blood

³ But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in the mountain of thy holiness?

¹⁵ As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.

⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will rest in the house of the LORD for ever.

⁷ ¶ Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and lift yourselves up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.

¹² ¶ Blessed is the people whose God is the LORD; the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.

⁸ They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house, and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips

⁷⁰ He chose David also his slave and took him from the sheepfolds, ⁷¹ from following the ewes great with young, he brought him to feed Jacob his people and Israel his inheritance.

⁴ Happy are those that dwell in thy house; they shall continually praise thee. Selah.

⁴ Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou dost bear unto thy people; O visit me with thy saving health, ⁵ that I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

⁴ For JAH has chosen Jacob unto himself and Israel for his own possession.

¹² Therefore they shall come and do praises in the height of Zion and shall run unto the goodness of the LORD, unto the bread, and unto the wine, and unto the oil, and unto the gain of the flock and of the herd and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. ¹³ Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them and make them rejoice from their sorrow. ¹⁴ And I will satiate the soul of the priest with fatness, and my people shall be filled with my goodness, said the LORD.

²⁵ For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have filled every sorrowful soul.

⁴ according as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in charity;

¹³ ¶ But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to saving health through the sanctification of the Spirit and faith in the truth,

¹² He that overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more, and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God which is the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from and with my God, and I will write upon him my new name.

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more neither thirst anymore; neither shall the sun be thrust upon them nor any other heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall govern them and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

³ And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold the tabernacle of God with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them and be their God. ⁴ And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and death shall be no more neither shall there be any more sorrow nor crying nor pain; for the former things are passed away.

³⁴ Or has God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs and by wonders and by war and by a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

²¹ He shall be thy praise, and he shall be thy God, that has done with thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

⁴ And in thy majesty be prospered; ride upon the word of truth and of humility and of righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

² For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. ³ He shall guide the peoples under us, and the Gentiles under our feet.

³ Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! Through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

¹⁹ Blessed be the Lord, who daily lades us with benefits, even the God of our saving health. Selah. ²⁰ He that is our God is the God of salvation, and unto GOD the Lord belongs the way of escape from death.

³ There he broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the war. Selah. ⁴ Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey. ⁵ The stouthearted are spoiled; they have slept their sleep; and nothing was found in the hands of the men of might. ⁶ At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep. ⁷ ¶ Thou, even thou, art to be feared, and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry? ⁸ From the heavens thou didst cause judgment to be heard; the earth feared and was still, ⁹ when thou didst arise unto judgment, O God, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

⁴ Turn us, O God our saving health and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

²³ ¶ Those that go down to the sea in ships that do work in many waters,

¹⁷ Tzaddi The LORD is righteous in all his ways and merciful in all his works.

³⁶ Then the angel of the LORD went forth and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

²² Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no one else.

⁵ My righteousness is near; my saving health is gone forth, and my arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me; and on my arm shall they place their hope.

⁵ Then thou shall see, and thou shall shine, and thine heart shall marvel, and be enlarged because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the strength of the Gentiles shall have come unto thee.

¹⁹ And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the Gentiles, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have never heard my name, nor seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

¹¹ The LORD shall be terrible against them for he will weaken all the gods of the earth; and each one from his place shall worship him, even all the isles of the Gentiles.

¹⁰ And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be broken and he shall speak peace unto the Gentiles; and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

¹⁹ Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, behold, I am with you always even unto the end of the age. Amen.

⁵ But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasures up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

¹⁰ And again he says, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. ¹¹ And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and magnify him, all the peoples. ¹² And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles shall wait for salvation.

¹⁷ and he came and preached peace unto you who were afar off and to those that were near. ¹⁸ For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

³ And they sing the song of Moses, the slave of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. ⁴ Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and magnify thy name? for thou only art holy; therefore, all the Gentiles shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

⁵ And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, who art and wast the Holy one because thou hast judged these things;

¹ ¶ And after these things I heard a great voice of a great company in the heaven, saying, Halelu-JAH; Salvation and glory and honour and power unto the Lord our God; ² for true and righteous are his judgments; for he has judged the great whore, who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his slaves at her hand. ³ And again they said, Halelu-JAH. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

⁴ The bows of the mighty men have been broken, and the weak are girded with strength.

² For he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.

¹ ¶ The LORD reigns; he has clothed himself with majesty; the LORD has clothed himself with strength; he has girded himself: he has established the world also, that it cannot be moved.

⁹⁰ Thy truth is from generation to generation; thou hast established the earth, and it perseveres.

⁹ ¶ Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in ages past. Art thou not he who cut off the proud one, and he who smote the dragon?

² Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD’s controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will reprove Israel.

⁶ He stood and measured the earth; he beheld and drove out the Gentiles; and the ancient mountains crumbled, the ancient hills; the ways of the world bowed unto him.

⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? ⁹ When I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness a swaddling band for it, ¹⁰ and established my decree upon it, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ and said, Thou shalt come unto here, but no further; and there shall the pride of thy waves be stayed.

¹ ¶ Why do the Gentiles rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed, saying, ³ let us break their bands asunder and cast away their cords from us. ⁴ He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

²³ Forget not the voices of thine enemies; the tumult of those that rise up against thee increases continually.

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall cause praise to come unto thee; the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

⁹ Thou dost rule the raging of the sea: when its waves arise, thou dost still them.

³ The rivers have lifted up, O LORD; the rivers have lifted up their voice; the rivers lift up their waves. ⁴ The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

⁶ Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. ⁸ The mountains were exposed; they descended through the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. ⁹ Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over, that they not turn again to cover the earth.

²⁹ He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.

¹² ¶ Woe to the multitude of many peoples, which shall make a noise like the noise of the sea; and the rushing of nations, that make an uprising like the rushing of mighty waters! ¹³ The peoples shall make noise like the rushing of great waters, but God shall reprehend them, and they shall flee far off and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind and like the tumbleweed before the whirlwind.

⁴ ¶ But the LORD caused a great wind to rise up in the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship thought she would be broken.

¹⁵ So they took up Jonah and cast him forth into the sea; and the sea ceased from her raging.

²⁶ And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then, awake, he rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. ²⁷ But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey him!

⁶ And when he said unto them, I AM, they went backward and fell to the ground.

²² While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

¹⁴ The peoples shall hear and be afraid; sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. ¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling, shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. ¹⁶ Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone, until thy people pass over, O LORD, until the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.

¹⁹ And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, and should be driven to worship them and serve them because the LORD thy God has conceded them unto all the peoples under all the heavens.

⁹ and she said unto the men, I know that the LORD has given you this land because the fear of you has fallen upon us and all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. ¹⁰ For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you when ye came out of Egypt and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites that were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. ¹¹ Hearing this has melted our heart, neither has there remained any more spirit in any man because of you, for the LORD your God is God above in the heavens and in the earth beneath.

¹² ¶ Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days? Hast thou shown the dayspring its place,

⁸ Ask of me, and I shall give thee the Gentiles for thine inheritance and unto the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

⁵ which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber and rejoices as a strong man to run a race.

⁵ They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled and hasted away. ⁶ Fear took hold upon them there and pain as of a woman in travail.

¹³ The plains clothe themselves with sheep, and the valleys cover themselves with grain; they give shouts of triumph, they even sing.

¹⁶ The day is thine, the night also is thine; thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

²⁰ Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest move. ²¹ The young lions roar after their prey and seek their food from God. ²² The sun arises, they withdraw and lay themselves down in their dens. ²³ Man goes forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

² Then our mouth shall be filled with laughter and our tongue with singing; then they shall say among the Gentiles, The LORD has done great things with them.

⁹ sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his slaves.

⁸ The sun to rule in the day: for his mercy endures for ever:

³ Praise ye him, sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars of light.

³ ¶ God shall come from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was filled with his praise. ⁴ And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand; and there was hidden his strength. ⁵ Before his face went mortality, and burning coals went forth from his feet. ⁶ He stood and measured the earth; he beheld and drove out the Gentiles; and the ancient mountains crumbled, the ancient hills; the ways of the world bowed unto him. ⁷ I saw the tents of Cushan as nothing, and the curtains of the land of Midian trembled. ⁸ Oh LORD, wast thou displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath even against the sea when thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of saving health? ⁹ Thy bow was entirely uncovered, and the oaths unto the tribes, eternal word, when thou didst divide the earth with rivers. ¹⁰ The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the waters passed by; the abyss uttered its voice; the deep lifted up its hands. ¹¹ The sun and the moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went and at the shining of thy glittering spear. ¹² Thou didst tread upon the land in wrath; thou didst thresh the Gentiles in anger. ¹³ Thou didst go forth to save thy people, to save with thine anointed; thou didst shatter the head of the house of the wicked by uncovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. ¹⁴ Thou didst strike through with his staffs the heads of his villages, who as a whirlwind attempted to scatter me; their pride was as to devour the poor secretly. ¹⁵ Thou didst make a way through the sea for thine horses through the heap of great waters. ¹⁶ ¶ When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice; rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in my seat, that I might rest in the day of trouble when he comes up unto the people to destroy them. ¹⁷ Because the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be on the vines; the labour of the olive shall lie, and the cultivated fields shall yield no food; the sheep shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: ¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will joy in the God of my saving health. ¹⁹ The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and upon my high places he will cause me to walk victorious in my instruments of music.

³⁸ And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men and let them alone; for if this counsellor or this work is of men, it will come to nought, ³⁹ but if it is of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest ye be found fighting against God.

¹³ And in the same hour there was a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain the names of seven thousand men; and the others were frightened and gave glory to the God of heaven.

¹² ¶ Then Isaac sowed in that land and received in the same year one hundred-fold, and the LORD blessed him.

⁴ then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

¹¹ The land, into which ye go to inherit it, is a land of mountains and valleys and drinks water of the rain of heaven, ¹² a land which the LORD thy God procures; the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

⁶ ¶ Then she arose with her daughters-in-law, to return from the fields of Moab, for she had heard in the field of Moab how the LORD had visited his people to give them bread.

¹⁰ who gives rain upon the earth and sends waters abroad; ¹¹ who sets up the humble on high, that those who mourn may be lifted up with saving health.

⁶ ¶ For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; rain after rain, and rain after rain in his strength. ⁷ He seals up the hand of every man that all men may know his work. ⁸ Then the beast shall go into its lair and inhabit its dwelling. ⁹ Out of the south comes the whirlwind and cold out of the north wind. ¹⁰ By the breath of God ice is given; and the broad waters are constrained. ¹¹ In addition to this, with clarity he wearies the thick clouds; and he scatters them with his light. ¹² And they are turned round about by his counsels; that they may do whatever he commands them upon the face of the world in the earth. ¹³ On some occasions for correction, on others for his land, on others for mercy he causes them to appear.

⁴ There is a river, the streams of which shall make glad the city of God, the sanctuary of the tents of the most High.

¹ A Psalm of David,
when he was in the wilderness of Judah. ¶ O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee; my soul thirsts for thee; my flesh longs for thee in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water;

¹¹ Thou dost crown the year with thy goodness, and thy clouds distill fatness.

⁹ Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, by which thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary. ¹⁰ Thy presence was in thy congregation; thou, O God, by thy goodness thou hast provided for the poor.

¹³ He waters the mountains from his chambers; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. ¹⁴ He causes the hay to grow for the cattle and grass for the service of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth ¹⁵ and wine that makes glad the heart of man, making his face to shine with oil and bread which sustains man’s heart.

³⁷ and sow the fields and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

⁸ Who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares the rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains. ⁹ He who gives the beast his food and to the sons of the ravens which cry unto him.

¹⁴ He who makes peace to be thy borders shall fill thee with the finest of the wheat.

²⁴ Neither do they say in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God that gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; he shall keep us with the appointed weeks of the harvest.

²² Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause it to rain? or can the heavens give rain? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee, for thou hast made all these things.

²³ Ye also, sons of Zion, be glad and rejoice in the LORD your God for he has given you the former rain according to righteousness, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain as in the beginning. ²⁴ And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. ²⁵ And I will restore to you the years that the caterpillar has eaten, the locust, and the cankerworm, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. ²⁶ And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God that has dealt wondrously with you; and my people shall never again be ashamed.

¹⁷ Nevertheless he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they not be highminded, not placing their hope in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy; ¹⁸ but charge them to do good, that they be rich in good works, liberal to distribute, willing to communicate,

¹ ¶ And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

² My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb and as the showers upon the grass.

⁸ Who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares the rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains.

⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then neither is he that plants anything, neither he that waters, but God that gives the increase.

²⁸ which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.

¹² For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

¹⁰ Jod All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

⁴ who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowns thee with mercy and compassion;

³ who dost establish his chambers between the waters, who makes the clouds his chariot, who walks upon the wings of the wind,

¹⁸ ¶ The simple shall inherit folly, but the prudent shall be crowned with wisdom.

¹⁴ Who knows if he will return and repent and leave a blessing behind him even a present and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

²¹ Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD has done great things. ²² Be not afraid, ye animals of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness shall become green again, for the trees shall bear their fruit, the fig tree and the vine shall give their fruits.

¹⁹ Is not the seed yet in the barn? Not even the vine, nor the fig tree, nor the pomegranate, nor the olive tree, has blossomed yet, but from this day will I bless you.

¹⁰ Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, and there shall be food in my house, and prove me now in this, said the LORD of the hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

¹⁷ And if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them and hath been made participant of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree,

⁷ Thou didst make him a little lower than the angels; thou didst crown him with glory and honour and didst set him over the works of thy hands. ⁸ Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not see yet that all things are put under him. ⁹ But we see this same Jesus, crowned with glory and honour, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

²⁶ to cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, in which there is no man; ²⁷ to satisfy the desolate and waste ground and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

⁶ ¶ Thou art he who doth establish the mountains by thy strength, being girded with valour:

¹⁰ ¶ Thou art he who sends the springs into the valleys, which run among the mountains. ¹¹ They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst. ¹² Next to them the fowls of the heavens have their habitation; they sing among the leaves. ¹³ He waters the mountains from his chambers; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.

⁹ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts more than your thoughts. ¹⁰ For as the rain comes down, and the snow from the heavens, and does not return there, but waters the earth and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater: ¹¹ So shall my Word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall be prospered in that for which I sent it. ¹² For ye shall go out with joy, and be returned with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. ¹³ Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an eternal sign that shall not be cut off.

¹⁰ ¶ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of saving health; he has surrounded me with the robe of righteousness; as a bridegroom he has arrayed me, and as a bride made up of his jewels. ¹¹ For as the earth brings forth her shoot and as the garden causes her seed to spring forth so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the Gentiles.

²² Be not afraid, ye animals of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness shall become green again, for the trees shall bear their fruit, the fig tree and the vine shall give their fruits.

¹⁶ There shall be planted a handful of grain in the earth upon the tops of the mountains; its fruit shall thunder like Lebanon; and out of the city they shall blossom like the grass of the earth.

¹¹ Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar and the fullness thereof. ¹² Let the field be joyful and all that is therein; then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice ¹³ before the LORD; for he has come, for he has come to judge the earth; he shall judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with his truth.

⁷ Let the sea roar and the fullness thereof, the world and those that dwell therein. ⁸ Let the rivers clap their hands; let the mountains be joyful together ⁹ before the LORD; for he has come to judge the earth; with righteousness he shall judge the world and the peoples with equity.

²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom thou hast made them all; the earth is full of thy riches. ²⁵ So is this great and wide sea, wherein are innumerable creeping things, both small and great beasts. ²⁶ There go the ships; there is that leviathan, whom thou didst make to play therein. ²⁷ These wait all upon thee, that thou may give them their food in due season. ²⁸ Thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.

¹³ that our garners may be full, affording all manner of store; that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets;

²³ Then he shall give the rain unto thy planting when thou shalt sow the ground; and bread of the fruit of the earth, and it shall be fat and fertile: in that day thy cattle shall feed in large pastures.

¹ ¶ The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the lily. ² It shall blossom abundantly and shall also praise and sing for joy; the honour of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the beauty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the LORD and the beauty of our God.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with songs; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall retain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

²³ Sing praises, O ye heavens; for the LORD has done it; shout with joy, ye lower parts of the earth; break forth into praise, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein, for the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and in Israel he shall be glorified.

⁹ Sing praises, rejoice together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.

¹² For ye shall go out with joy, and be returned with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

³³ And joy and gladness shall be taken from the plentiful field and from the land of Moab; and I shall cause wine to cease from the winepresses; no one shall tread with song; their song shall be no song.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! The wheat shall make the young men cheerful, and the wine the maids.
