¹ ¶ Paul, slave of God, and apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness; ² for the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the times of the ages ³ and has manifested in due times. It is his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour; ⁴ to Titus, true son in the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus, the Christ, our Saviour. ⁵ ¶ For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou should correct that which is lacking and set in place elders in every city, as I had commanded thee: ⁶ ¶ He who is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children who can not be accused of dissoluteness, nor insubordinate. ⁷ For the bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God; not arrogant, not quick to anger, not given to wine, not hurtful, not greedy of dishonest gain, ⁸ but a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, temperate, just, holy, gentle, ⁹ holding fast the doctrine according to the faithful word, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. ¹⁰ For there are many insubordinate and vain talkers and deceivers of souls, especially those of the circumcision, ¹¹ whose mouths it is expedient to stop, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain. ¹² One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, lazy bellies. ¹³ This witness is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; ¹⁴ not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. ¹⁵ For unto the pure all things are pure, but unto those that are defiled and unfaithful, nothing is pure, but even their soul and conscience is defiled. ¹⁶ They profess that they know God, but in works they deny him, being abominable and rebellious and reprobate unto every good work.

⁴⁹ But Aaron and his sons made incense upon the altar of the burnt offering and on the altar of incense, in all the work of the holy of holies, and to make reconciliation for Israel, according to all that Moses, the slave of God, had commanded.

²⁶ But ye believe not because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. ²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me;

⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord, and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

¹ ¶ Paul, slave of Jesus, the Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God

¹ ¶ Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:

⁸ For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God,

¹ ¶ Paul and Timothy, slaves of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

² that their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in charity and in all the riches of the fulfilled understanding to know the mystery of the God and Father and of the Christ;

¹³ ¶ But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to saving health through the sanctification of the Spirit and faith in the truth, ¹⁴ unto which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴ nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which generate questions other than that the edification of God is by faith. ⁵ ¶ Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart and of a good conscience and of faith unfeigned:

⁴ who desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth.

¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

³ If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,

²³ But foolish and unwise questions refuse, knowing that they do beget contentions.

²⁵ that with meekness they might teach those that resist, if God peradventure will grant unto them that they might repent and know the truth,

¹¹ ¶ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live temperately, righteously, and godly in this present world;

³ as all things that pertain to life and to godliness are given us of his divine power, through the knowledge of him that has called us by his glory and virtue,

¹¹ ¶ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

²³ Whosoever denies the Son, the same does not have the Father. Whosoever confesses the Son, has the Father also.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent; he said and shall he not do it? He spoke and shall he not execute it?

²⁹ And also the Overcomer of Israel will not lie nor repent concerning this, for he is not a man, that he should repent.

²³ I was set up with eternal dominion, from the beginning, before the earth was. ²⁴ I was begotten before the depths, before the existence of the fountains of many waters. ²⁵ Before the mountains were founded, before the hills was I begotten. ²⁶ While as yet he had not made the earth nor the fields nor the beginning of the dust of the world, ²⁷ when he composed the heavens, I was there. When he set a compass upon the face of the depth, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth, ³⁰ I was with him ordering everything; I was his delight every day, being content before him at all times; ³¹ I am content in the circumference of his earth, and my contentment is with the sons of men.

³⁴ Then shall the King say unto those on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

⁴⁶ And they shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

¹⁷ ¶ And as he was leaving to continue his way, there came one running, who kneeled before him and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

³⁰ who shall not receive one hundredfold now in this time: houses and brethren and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the world to come eternal life.

¹⁵ that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

³⁹ Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are those who testify of me.

⁵⁴ Whosoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

²⁸ and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of my hand.

² as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

²⁴ ¶ Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am, that they may behold my clarity, which thou hast given me, for thou hast loved me from before the foundation of the world.

¹⁸ Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

² (which he had promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures)

⁷ to those who persevered in well doing, glory and honour and incorruption, to those who seek eternal life;

² by whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and glory in hope of the glory of the sons of God.

⁴ and patience, experience; and experience, hope;

²¹ so that in the same manner as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus, the Christ, our Lord.

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the grace of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁵ ¶ Now to him that is able to confirm you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was concealed from times eternal

²⁷ to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery in the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory,

¹⁵ who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets and have persecuted us, and they do not please God and are contrary to all men,

⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet, the hope of saving health.

¹² Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, unto which thou art also called, having made a good profession before many witnesses.

¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the future, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

¹ ¶ Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

⁹ who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the times of the ages,

¹⁰ Therefore, I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they may also obtain the saving health which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

¹³ if we are unfaithful, yet he remains faithful; he cannot deny himself.

¹⁵ Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that has nothing to be ashamed of, rightly dividing the word of truth.

⁷ in all things showing thyself as an example of good works, in doctrine showing integrity, seriousness, purity,

¹³ waiting for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ,

⁷ that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁷ In which God, desiring to show more abundantly unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath, ¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us,

³ ¶ Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Christ, who according to his great mercy has begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ, from the dead, ⁴ unto the incorruptible inheritance that cannot be defiled and that does not fade away, conserved in the heavens for you,

²⁰ already ordained from before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for love of you, ²¹ who by him do believe God, who raised him up from the dead and has given him glory: that your faith and hope might be in God. ²² Having purified your souls in the obedience of the truth, by the Spirit, in unfeigned brotherly love, love one another with a pure heart fervently, ²³ being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.

²⁵ And this is the promise that he has promised us, even eternal life.

² Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be; but we know that if he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. ³ And every one that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

¹¹ And this is the witness, that God has given eternal life to us, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that has the Son has life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not have life. ¹³ These things I have written unto you that believe in the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.

²⁰ But we know that the Son of God is come and has given us understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto eternal life,

⁸ And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship it, whose names are not written in the book of the life of the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world.

⁸ The beast that thou sawest was, and is not, and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and shall go into perdition; and those that dwell on the earth shall wonder (whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world) when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me.

¹⁵ Verily thou art God, that thou might hide thyself; God of Israel, who saves.

²¹ Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together; who caused this to be heard from the beginning and has declared it from that time, except me, the LORD? and there is no God beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is no one besides me.

²³ And at the end of their empire, when the prevaricators are come to the full, a king of arrogant countenance and expert in enigmas shall raise himself up.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined {Heb. Cut} upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the prevarication and to conclude the sin and to make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and seal the vision and the prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies.

²⁷ And the heart of both these kings shall be to do evil, and at the same table they shall speak lies; but it shall not prosper, for the time appointed is not yet come.

³ For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it because it will surely come; wait for it.

¹⁰ And the gospel needs to be preached unto all the Gentiles first.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

⁴⁷ and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saving Health,

³⁶ The word which God sent unto the sons of Israel, preaching the gospel: peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all),

²⁶ and has made of one blood all the lineage of men to dwell on all the face of the earth and has determined the seasons (which he has limited) and the bounds of their habitation;

⁶ ¶ For the Christ, when we were yet weak, in his time died for the ungodly.

¹⁴ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? ¹⁵ And how shall they preach if they have not been sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those that announce the gospel of peace, of those that announce the gospel of that which is good!

¹⁹ with power of signs and wonders, in virtue of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem and round about unto Illyricum, I have filled the entire area with the gospel of the Christ.

²⁶ but now is made manifest, and by the writings of the prophets, by the commandment of God eternal, declared unto all the Gentiles, that they might hear and obey by faith,

¹⁷ For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, the stewardship of the gospel is committed unto me.

⁴ but when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

¹⁰ that in the dispensation of the fulfillment of the times he might restore all things by the Christ, both those which are in heaven and those which are on earth,

¹⁷ and he came and preached peace unto you who were afar off and to those that were near.

⁵ which in other generations was not made known unto the sons of men as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit, ⁶ that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and of the same body and partakers of his promise in the Christ by the gospel, ⁷ of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the operation of his power. ⁸ Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of the Christ

¹³ so that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace and in all other places;

⁶ which is come unto you, as it is in all the world, and brings forth fruit, as it does also in you, since the day ye heard it and knew the grace of God in truth,

²³ if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard and which is preached to every creature which is under heaven, of which I Paul am made a minister,

⁴ but because we have been approved of God that he might entrust us with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, who tries our hearts.

¹ ¶ Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God, our Saviour and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,

¹¹ according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

³ For this is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,

⁵ For there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, ⁶ who gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time, ⁷ of which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

¹⁰ For this we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

¹⁰ but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has annulled death, and has brought life and incorruption to light through the gospel, ¹¹ unto which I am appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher of the Gentiles.

¹⁰ not defrauding, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

⁴ But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which he poured out abundantly in us through Jesus, the Christ, our Saviour;

¹⁶ And he that was seated on the cloud thrust in his sickle upon the earth; and the earth was reaped.

¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

⁴² and said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speech; for we have heard him ourselves and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

⁷ to all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints; ye have grace and peace of God our Father and of the Lord Jesus, the Christ.

¹² that is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

¹³ I had no rest in my spirit because I did not find Titus my brother, but taking my leave of them, I went from there into Macedonia.

¹³ We having the same Spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed and, therefore, I have spoken; we also believe and, therefore, speak;

⁶ Nevertheless God, who comforts the humble, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

¹³ Therefore we were comforted in your comfort; yea, and we rejoiced even more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all. ¹⁴ For if I have gloried of anything to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our glorying, which I made before Titus, was found true.

⁶ Insomuch that we exhorted Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also complete among you the same grace also.

¹⁶ ¶ But thanks be to God, who put the same diligence into the heart of Titus for you.

²³ Regarding Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you; or regarding our brethren, they are the apostles of the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} and the glory of Christ.

¹⁸ I besought Titus and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus defraud you? Did we not walk in the same Spirit and in the same steps?

³ But not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised,

² Grace be to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

² to the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

² to Timothy, dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace of God the Father and of Christ Jesus our Lord. ³ and has manifested in due times. It is his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

¹ ¶ Simon Peter, slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those that have obtained like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:

¹¹ Because in this manner the entrance shall be abundantly administered unto you in the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

²⁰ Certainly, if having separated themselves from the contaminations of the world, by the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they again entangle themselves therein and are overcome, their latter end is made worse for them than the beginnings.

² that ye keep in memory the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of our commandment, that we are apostles of the Lord and Saviour,

¹⁸ But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and until the day of eternity. Amen.

¹⁴ ¶ And this is the confidence that we have in God, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:

³ ¶ Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you and exhort you that ye should earnestly persevere in the faith which was given once unto the saints.

³² And they served before the tent of the tabernacle of the testimony with singing until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, and then they remained in their ministry according to their right.

⁹ And the wiser the preacher became that much more did he teach wisdom to the people, causing them to listen and to search things out, and he composed many proverbs.

⁷ And who shall call as I do and declare this in advance and set it in order for me, since I made the people of the world? Let them declare unto them the things that are near and the things that shall come.

¹¹ Cretes and Arabians, we hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

³⁰ which they likewise did and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

²³ And having ordained elders for them in every congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} and having prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord on whom they believed.

⁷ And when we had sailed slowly many days and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not allowing us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone,

¹² ¶ And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, many were in agreement to depart from there also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice and winter there, which is a port of Crete and lies toward Africa and the west.

²¹ ¶ Then after long abstinence, Paul stood forth in the midst of them and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me and not have loosed from Crete to have avoided this harm and loss.

³⁴ And if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home; that ye not come together unto judgment. And I will set the rest in order when I come.

⁴⁰ But let all things be done decently and in order.

⁵ For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

³ Even as I besought thee to remain at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou might charge some that they not teach diverse doctrine,

² And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

¹⁹ For I know him, that he will command his sons and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and judgment, that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he has spoken of him.

⁷ They shall not take a wife that is a whore or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband; for he is holy unto his God.

¹⁴ A widow or a divorced woman or profane or a harlot, these he shall not take, but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

¹¹ ¶ And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child ministered unto the LORD before Eli the priest.

²² Now Eli was very old and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel and how they lay with the women that served at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony.

²⁹ Why do ye trample my sacrifices and my offerings which I have commanded to be offered in my tabernacle and honor thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people? ³⁰ Therefore, the LORD God of Israel said, I had said indeed that thy house and the house of thy father should walk before me for ever, but now the LORD said, It shall never be; for those that honor me I will honor, and those that lightly esteem me shall be vile.

¹² In that day I will perform against Eli all the things which I have spoken concerning his house; when I begin, I will also make an end. ¹³ For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knows of (because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them).

⁷ ¶ Whosoever keeps the law is a wise son, but he that is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

²² Neither shall they take for their wives a widow, nor her that is put away: but they shall take virgins of the seed of the house of Israel, or a widow that had a priest before.

¹⁵ And did he not make one, having in himself abundance of the Spirit? And why one? That he might seek offspring of God. Therefore take heed to your spirit and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

⁵ ¶ There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia, and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which there is excess, but be filled with the Spirit,

¹⁴ We also exhort you, brethren, that you warn those that are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with everyone.

² It is expedient, therefore, that the bishop be blameless, the husband of only one wife, vigilant, temperate, of worldly affections mortified, given to hospitality, apt to teach; ³ not given to wine, not hurtful, not greedy of dishonest gain, but gentle, not contentious, not covetous; ⁴ one that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all integrity; ⁵ (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God?) ⁶ not a novice, lest being puffed up, he fall into judgment of the devil. ⁷ Moreover he must have a good report of those who are outside lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

¹² Let the deacons be the husbands of only one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

¹⁰ For there are many insubordinate and vain talkers and deceivers of souls, especially those of the circumcision,

⁶ Let my soul not enter into their secret; nor let my honour join their assembly; for in their anger they slew a man, and in their own will they dug down a wall.

⁹ Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee when ye go into the tabernacle of the testimony, lest ye die; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations;

¹⁷ ¶ He that is soon angry shall deal foolishly, and the man of wicked devices shall be hated.

¹⁸ ¶ A wrathful man stirs up strife, but he that is slow to anger appeases strife.

³² ¶ He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.

⁴ It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor is beer for princes ⁵ lest they drink and forget the law and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

⁹ Do not be hasty in thy spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.

⁷ But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink; they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

¹⁰ His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant; they are all dumb dogs; they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, they love to slumber. ¹¹ And these anxious dogs are insatiable, and even the shepherds did not know enough to understand: they all look to their own ways, each one for his gain, from his quarter. ¹² Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, or much more excellent.

²¹ Neither shall any priest drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.

⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and prudent slave, whom his lord has made ruler over his household to give them food in due season?

⁴² And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward whom his lord shall make ruler over his household to give them their portion of food in due season?

¹ ¶ Let us reckon men as ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. ² Moreover, it is required in stewards that each one be found faithful.

¹ ¶ The Word is faithful, If anyone desires the office of a bishop, {to be a pastor or elder in the congregation}, he desires a difficult ministry. ² It is expedient, therefore, that the bishop be blameless, the husband of only one wife, vigilant, temperate, of worldly affections mortified, given to hospitality, apt to teach; ³ not given to wine, not hurtful, not greedy of dishonest gain, but gentle, not contentious, not covetous; ⁴ one that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all integrity; ⁵ (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God?) ⁶ not a novice, lest being puffed up, he fall into judgment of the devil. ⁷ Moreover he must have a good report of those who are outside lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. ⁸ ¶ Likewise the deacons must be honest, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of dishonest gain; ⁹ holding the mystery of the faith together with a pure conscience. ¹⁰ And let these also first be proved; then let them minister, if they are blameless. ¹¹ The wives likewise are to be honest, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. ¹² Let the deacons be the husbands of only one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. ¹³ For those that minister well purchase to themselves a good degree and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

²⁴ That the slave of the Lord should not be contentious, but be meek unto everyone, apt to teach, patient, ²⁵ that with meekness they might teach those that resist, if God peradventure will grant unto them that they might repent and know the truth,

⁵ ¶ For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou should correct that which is lacking and set in place elders in every city, as I had commanded thee:

³ The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of honesty;

¹⁹ ¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; ²⁰ for the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God.

¹⁰ Let each one according to the gift that he has received, administer it unto the others, as a good steward of the diverse graces of God.

² Feed the flock of God which is among you, caring for her, not by force, but willingly; not for shameful lucre, but with willing desire;

¹⁰ ¶ and chiefly those that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise dominion; presumptuous, arrogant, they are not afraid to speak evil of the higher powers;

¹ ¶ And it came to pass when he had finished speaking unto Saul that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

¹ ¶ Hiram, king of Tyre, also sent his slaves unto Solomon when he heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father; for Hiram had always loved David.

⁷ And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, who has given unto David a wise son over this great people.

³ to the saints that are in the earth and to the excellent: all my delight is towards them.

¹⁵ Hate the evil and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate; it may be that the LORD God of the hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

⁴ But in all things showing ourselves as the ministers of God in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses, ⁵ in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings, ⁶ in chastity, in knowledge, in meekness, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in unfeigned charity, ⁷ in the word of truth, in the power of God through the weapons of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, ⁸ through honour and dishonour, through evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet as men of the truth;

¹⁰ Ye are witnesses, and God also, of how holy and just and irreprehensible our behaviour was among you that believe,

² It is expedient, therefore, that the bishop be blameless, the husband of only one wife, vigilant, temperate, of worldly affections mortified, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

¹² Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the faithful in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

¹¹ But thou, O man of God, flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, charity, tolerance, meekness.

²² ¶ Flee also youthful lusts, but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with those that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

³ without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, without temperance, without meekness, without goodness,

¹⁴ ¶ We know that we are passed from death unto life, in that we love the brethren. He that does not love his brother abides in death.

¹ ¶ Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and anyone that loves him that begat also loves him that is born of him.

³ And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my slave Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God and has departed from evil and that he still retains his perfection, although thou didst incite me against him to destroy him without cause.

⁶ I hold fast to my righteousness and will not let it go; my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

²³ Buy the truth and sell it not, also wisdom and instruction and understanding.

²⁸ for he mightily convinced the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there come in one that does not believe or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all;

²¹ Examine all things; retain that which is good.

¹⁵ Therefore, brethren, stand fast and retain the doctrine which ye have been taught, whether by word or our epistle.

¹⁰ for fornicators, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,

¹⁵ This is a faithful saying and worthy of acceptation by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first.

¹⁹ holding fast faith and a good conscience, which some, having cast away, have shipwrecked in their faith,

⁹ The Word is faithful and worthy of acceptation by all.

¹³ Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and charity which is in Christ Jesus.

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, they shall heap up unto themselves teachers who shall speak to them according to their own lusts,

¹¹ whose mouths it is expedient to stop, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain.

¹ ¶ But speak thou the things which are expedient unto sound doctrine,

⁷ in all things showing thyself as an example of good works, in doctrine showing integrity, seriousness, purity, ⁸ sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that the adversary may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

²⁵ But that which ye have already hold fast until I come.

³ Remember, therefore, of that which thou hast received and heard and hold to it and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come to thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

¹¹ Behold, I come quickly; hold fast that which thou hast, that no one take thy crown.

² When Peter was come up to Jerusalem, those that were of the circumcision contended with him,

¹ ¶ Then certain men who came down from Judaea taught the brethren and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

²⁴ forasmuch as we have heard that certain ones who went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised and keep the law, to whom we gave no such commandment,

²⁹ For I know this, that after my departing, grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

¹⁷ ¶ And I beseech you, brethren, mark those who cause dissensions and offences outside of the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them. ¹⁸ For they that are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly and by smooth words and blessings deceive the hearts of the simple.

¹² But what I do, I will continue to do that I may take away the occasion from those who desire it to be found like unto us in that in which they glory. ¹³ For these false apostles are deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And it is no marvel, for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers transform themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

⁶ ¶ I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel, ⁷ for there is not another; but there are some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of the Christ. ⁸ But even if we, or an angel from heaven, were to preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be anathema.

⁴ And that in spite of the false brethren, who entered secretly to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus that they might bring us into bondage;

¹ ¶ O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you that ye should not trust in the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

¹⁷ ¶ They are zealous after you, but not for good; they would exclude you from us, that ye might be zealous after them. ¹⁸ It is good to be always zealous to do good, and not only when I am present with you. ¹⁹ ¶ My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ is formed in you, ²⁰ I desire to be present with you now and to change my voice, for I stand in doubt of you. ²¹ ¶ Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, have ye not heard the law?

¹ ¶ Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free and do not be entangled again with the yoke of slavery. ² Behold, I, Paul, say unto you that if ye become circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. ³ For I testify again to every man that becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to do the whole law. ⁴ Ye are empty of the Christ, whosoever of you that justify yourselves by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

¹⁴ That we no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive,

² Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. ³ For we are the circumcision, who serve God in spirit and glory in Christ Jesus, having no confidence in the flesh.

¹⁰ and with all deception of iniquity working in those that perish because they did not receive the charity of the truth, to be saved. ¹¹ Therefore, for this cause, God shall send the operation of error in them, that they should believe the lie; ¹² that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but consented to the iniquity.

⁴ nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which generate questions other than that the edification of God is by faith.

⁶ from which some, having swerved, have turned aside unto vanity of words,

³ If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, ⁴ he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but is driven mad concerning questions and controversy of words, of which comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, ⁵ perverse disputings of men of corrupt understanding, and destitute of the truth, using piety as a source of gain: from such withdraw thyself.

¹³ But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

⁴ and thus they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall return unto fables.

²⁶ If anyone among you thinks to be religious and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, his religion is vain.

¹ ¶ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who covertly shall bring in destructive sects and shall deny the Lord that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be blasphemed;

¹⁸ ¶ Little children, it is the last hour, and as ye have heard that the antichrist comes, likewise there are also beginning to be many antichrists, by which we know that it is the last time.

¹ ¶ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

⁶ But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against thee because thou hast there those that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols and to commit fornication.

¹¹ But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that swears by him shall be praised; for the mouth of those that speak lies shall be stopped.

⁴² The righteous shall see it and rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

¹⁹ And will ye profane me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, slaying the souls that should not die and giving life to the souls that should not live, by your lying to my people that listen to the lie?

⁶³ that thou may remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, said the Lord GOD.

⁵ Thus hath the LORD said concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that does not give them something to eat, they even prepare war against him.

¹¹ the heads thereof judge for bribes, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet they come near unto the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? No evil can come upon us.

¹³ ¶ But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens in front of men, for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye those that are entering to go in.

⁴⁰ And after that they dared not ask him any question at all.

¹² But the hireling, who is not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches them and scatters the sheep.

¹⁹ ¶ Now we know that all that the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may submit themselves unto God.

¹⁰ It is the truth of Christ in me that this glory shall not be sealed up unto me in the regions of Achaia.

⁵ perverse disputings of men of corrupt understanding, and destitute of the truth, using piety as a source of gain: from such withdraw thyself.

⁶ For of this sort are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with various lusts,

⁷ For the bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God; not arrogant, not quick to anger, not given to wine, not hurtful, not greedy of dishonest gain,

⁹ holding fast the doctrine according to the faithful word, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

¹⁰ A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, reject him,

¹ ¶ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who covertly shall bring in destructive sects and shall deny the Lord that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be blasphemed; ³ ¶ and in covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words, upon whom the condemnation from a long time ago does not delay, and their perdition does not sleep.

²⁸ for in him we live and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also of his lineage.

¹⁸ For they that are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly and by smooth words and blessings deceive the hearts of the simple.

² that in hypocrisy shall speak lies; having their conscience seared as with a hot iron;

¹² But these, speaking evil of the things that they do not understand (as natural animals without reason, who are made to be taken and destroyed), shall utterly perish in their own corruption,

¹⁵ who forsaking the right way have erred, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

⁸ ¶ In the same manner these deceived dreamers, defile their flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of higher powers. ⁹ Yet when Michael, the archangel, contended with the devil, disputing over the body of Moses, he dared not bring against him a curse of judgment, but said, The Lord reprehend thee. ¹⁰ But these speak evil of those things which they do not know; but what they know by nature as animals without reason, in those things they corrupt themselves. ¹¹ Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward and perished in the gainsaying of Core. ¹² These are spots in your banquets of charity, feeding themselves without any fear whatsoever: clouds without water, carried to and fro of the winds; trees withered as in fall, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; ¹³ raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own abominations; erratic stars, to whom is reserved gross darkness eternally.

¹⁷ Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart; thou shalt rebuke thy neighbour in sincerity, that thou not bear sin for him.

⁸⁰ ¶ Let my heart be perfect in thy statutes that I not be ashamed.

⁵ ¶ Let the righteous smite me in mercy, and let him reprove me: and let not a flattering evil prince anoint my head, for my prayer shall ever be against his evil.

⁵ ¶ Open rebuke is better than secret love.

⁸ For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent; for I perceive that the same epistle has made you sorry, though it were but for a season. ⁹ Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance; for ye were made sorry by God that ye might suffer no loss by us. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, of which there is no need to repented; but the sorrow of the world works death. ¹¹ For behold this same thing, that when ye were made sorry by God, what carefulness it wrought in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things ye have shown yourselves to be clean in this matter. ¹² ¶ So that, though I wrote unto you, I did it not only for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.

¹⁰ Therefore I write these things being absent lest being present I should treat you with more severity, according to the power which the Lord has given me for edification, and not for destruction.

⁶ ¶ If thou put these things before the brethren, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, unto which thou hast attained.

²⁰ Those that persist in sin rebuke before all, that the others may also fear.

² Preach the word; be instant in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

² that the aged men be temperate, venerable, prudent, sound in faith, in charity, in tolerance.

¹⁵ ¶ These things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.

¹³ Therefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people sacrifice unto me and honour me with their lips, but have removed their heart far from me, and their worship with which they honour me was taught by the commandment of men:

⁹ But in vain do they worship me, teaching doctrines and commandments of men.

⁷ Howbeit in vain do they honor me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

⁹ But now, having known God, or rather being known of God, how do ye turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, in which ye desire again to be in slavery?

²² Which all perish with the using, because they are the commandments and doctrines of men,

⁴ nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which generate questions other than that the edification of God is by faith. ⁵ ¶ Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart and of a good conscience and of faith unfeigned: ⁶ from which some, having swerved, have turned aside unto vanity of words, ⁷ desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor from where they affirm.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if those who refused him that spoke on earth did not escape, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from the heavens,

²² But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog returns unto his own vomit, and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

⁴ ¶ A high look and a proud heart, which is the fire of the wicked, is sin.

¹³ Then Haggai said, If one that is unclean by a dead body touches any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

⁵ Speak unto all the people of the land and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me? ⁶ And when ye ate, and when ye drank, did ye not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

¹⁸ But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and they defile the man.

³⁹ And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. ⁴⁰ Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also? ⁴¹ But rather give alms {lit. do acts of mercy} of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

¹⁵ And the voice spoke unto him again the second time, That which God has cleansed, do not call common.

¹⁴ I know and trust in the Lord Jesus that for his sake there is nothing unclean, but to him that esteems any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

²⁰ Because of food, do not destroy the work of God. All things indeed are clean, but it is evil for that man who eats with offense.

²³ And he that makes a difference is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat by faith; and whatsoever is not out of faith is sin.

¹² ¶ All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. ¹³ Foods are for the belly, and the belly for foods; but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

⁷ ¶ Howbeit there is not in everyone that knowledge, for some with conscience of the idol unto now, eat it as a thing offered unto an idol, and their conscience being weak is defiled.

²³ ¶ All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful for me, but all things do not edify.

²⁵ Whatever is sold in the market, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake;

³¹ Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatever ye do, do everything for the glory of God.

²⁷ Therefore whoever shall eat this bread and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But let each man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. ²⁹ For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

³ they shall forbid to marry and shall command men to abstain from foods, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who are faithful and have known the truth. ⁴ For everything that God created is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving,

¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of the Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from the works of death to serve the living God?

²² let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts purified from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water;

¹⁶ he who has heard the words of God has said, and he who knows the knowledge of the most High, he who saw the vision of the Almighty, fallen, but having his eyes open:

²² And Samuel said, Does the LORD have as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in hearing the voice of the LORD? Behold, to hear is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams.

²⁴ ¶ Then Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD and thy words because I feared the people and consented unto their voice.

¹⁶ How much less the man who is abominable and filthy, who drinks iniquity like water?

¹ ¶ Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who call yourselves by the name of Israel, those that are come forth out of the waters of Judah, those who swear by the name of the LORD and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

² That they seek me daily and want to know my ways, as people that do righteousness and have not forsaken the rights of their God: they ask me of the rights of righteousness and desire to approach God.

³⁰ Reprobate silver shall men call them because the LORD has rejected them.

³¹ And they shall come unto thee as the people come, and they shall be before thee, my people, and they shall hear thy words, but they shall not do them; for with their mouth they flatter, but their heart goes after their covetousness.

² Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we have known thee. ³ Israel has cast off the good; the enemy shall pursue him.

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a perverse understanding, to do those things which are not convenient,

¹⁸ and dost know his will and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law, ¹⁹ and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of children, who hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. ²¹ Thou, therefore, who teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? Thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? ²² Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou that dost abhor idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? ²³ Thou that makest thy boast of the law, with rebellion to the law doth thou dishonour God? ²⁴ For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

⁶ Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

⁹ knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly sinners, for the evil and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

⁸ But if any provide not for his own and specially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁵ having the appearance of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. ⁶ For of this sort are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with various lusts, ⁷ ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. ⁸ And in the manner that Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth, men of corrupt understanding, reprobate concerning the faith.

⁴ He that says, I have known him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

⁴ For there are certain men crept in unawares without fear or reverence of God, who from beforehand have been ordained unto this condemnation, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness and denying God who alone has dominion, and our Lord Jesus, the Christ.

⁸ But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

²⁷ And there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean or that works abomination or makes a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
