¹ ¶ Admonish them to be subject to dominion and power, and to persuade those who have authority, that they be quick unto every good work. ² That they speak evil of no one, that they not be contentious, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men. ³ For we ourselves also were foolish in another time, rebellious, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which he poured out abundantly in us through Jesus, the Christ, our Saviour; ⁷ that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ⁸ The Word is faithful, and I desire that thou affirm this constantly, that those who have believed God might be careful to conduct themselves in good works. This is good and profitable unto men. ⁹ ¶ But avoid foolish questions and genealogies and contentions and debates concerning the law, for they are unprofitable and vain. ¹⁰ A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, reject him, ¹¹ knowing that he that is such is subverted and sins, being condemned of his own judgment. ¹² When I shall send Artemas unto thee or Tychicus, procure to come unto me to Nicopolis; for I have determined to winter there. ¹³ Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on ahead, procuring that nothing be lacking unto them. ¹⁴ And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they not be unfruitful. ¹⁵ All that are with me salute thee. Greet those that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

¹² And the man that will act presumptuously and will not hearken unto the priest that stands to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die; and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel.

²¹ ¶ My son, fear the LORD and the king, and do not meddle with those that are given to change,

² I counsel thee to keep the king’s commandment and the word of the covenant that thou hast made with God. ³ Do not be hasty to rebel against him; do not persist in any evil thing, for he shall do whatsoever pleases him; ⁴ because the word of the king is his power and who may say unto him, What doest thou? ⁵ Whosoever keeps the commandment shall experience no evil thing, and a wise man’s heart discerns both time and judgment.

⁴ ¶ If the spirit of the ruler rises up against thee, do not leave thy place; for meekness pacifies great sins.

²⁶ Cause me to remember; let us enter into judgment together; declare, thou, that it may be put to thy account.

¹⁷ Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon and live: why should this city be laid waste?

²¹ They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then said he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s.

² saying, The scribes and the Pharisees have sat down in Moses’ seat; ³ therefore, whatever they bid you to observe, observe it and do it, but do not act according to their works, for they say and do not do it.

¹ ¶ Let every soul submit itself to the higher powers. For there is no power but of God, and the powers that be are ordained of God. ² Whosoever therefore resists the power, resists the ordinance of God, and those that resist shall receive condemnation to themselves. ³ For the magistrates are not a terror unto those who do good, but to the doer of evil. Is thy desire therefore to not fear the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same; ⁴ for he is a minister of God for thy good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain, for he is a minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil. ⁵ Therefore it is necessary that ye be subject, not only for punishment, but also for conscience sake. ⁶ For this cause ye also pay them tribute, for they are God’s ministers, attending continually to this very thing. ⁷ ¶ Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

⁵⁸ ¶ Therefore, my beloved brothers, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. ¹⁰ Therefore as long as we have the opportunity, let us do good unto everyone, especially unto those who are of the household of faith.

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared that we should walk in them.

¹¹ being filled with fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

¹⁰ that ye might walk worthy of the Lord, pleasing him in everything, being fruitful in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of God,

² for kings, and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and integrity.

⁶ ¶ If thou put these things before the brethren, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, unto which thou hast attained.

¹⁰ having a good testimony of good works, if she has brought up well her children, if she has exercised hospitality, if she has washed the feet of the saints, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.

⁶ ¶ Therefore I admonish thee that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

²¹ If a man, therefore, purges himself from these things, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and profitable for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a people of his own, zealous of good works.

⁸ The Word is faithful, and I desire that thou affirm this constantly, that those who have believed God might be careful to conduct themselves in good works. This is good and profitable unto men.

¹⁴ And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they not be unfruitful.

²¹ make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for the ages of the ages. Amen.

¹³ ¶ Therefore, be subject to every human ordinance that is of the Lord, whether it be to a king or to a superior, ¹⁴ and unto governors as unto those that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those that do well. ¹⁵ For this is the will of God, that in well doing ye may silence the ignorance of vain men, ¹⁶ as being free, yet not using your liberty to cover maliciousness, but as slaves of God. ¹⁷ Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

¹² ¶ For this reason, I will not leave off reminding you always of these things, although ye know them and are established in the present truth.

¹ ¶ Beloved, I now write unto you this second epistle, in which I alert with exhortation your pure understanding, ² that ye keep in memory the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of our commandment, that we are apostles of the Lord and Saviour,

⁵ I will, therefore, remind you, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those that did not believe.

³⁶ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy saving health, and thy meekness has multiplied me.

¹¹ The man with an evil tongue shall not be established in the earth; evil shall hunt the man of violence to overthrow him.

¹⁹ a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.

¹⁹ ¶ A man of great wrath shall suffer the consequences, for even if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

²⁴ ¶ It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.

¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

⁵ Then Paul said, I did not know, brethren, that he was the prince of the priests, for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

¹⁰ nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁹ ¶ Therefore, though I am free regarding everyone, yet I have made myself slave unto all, that I might gain the more.

¹ ¶ Now I, Paul, myself beseech you by the meekness and clemency of the Christ (who in presence am low among you, but being absent am bold toward you)

²⁰ For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I desire and that I shall be found unto you such as ye desire not, lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, rumours, tumults,

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is this: Charity, joy, peace, tolerance, gentleness, goodness, faith,

¹ ¶ Brethren, if anyone is overtaken in a fault, ye who are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself lest thou also be tempted.

¹⁰ Therefore as long as we have the opportunity, let us do good unto everyone, especially unto those who are of the household of faith.

² ¶ with all humility and meekness, with tolerance, forbearing one another in love,

³¹ Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking be taken away from you, with all malice,

⁵ Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is near.

¹² ¶ Clothed, therefore, (as the elect of God, holy and beloved) with bowels of mercies, with kindness, with humility, with meekness, with tolerance, ¹³ forbearing one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a quarrel against another: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

⁷ ¶ But we were gentle among you, as a mother feeding and caring for her children,

¹⁴ We also exhort you, brethren, that you warn those that are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with everyone. ¹⁵ See that no one renders evil for evil unto anyone, but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men.

³ not given to wine, not hurtful, not greedy of dishonest gain, but gentle, not contentious, not covetous;

¹¹ The wives likewise are to be honest, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

²⁴ That the slave of the Lord should not be contentious, but be meek unto everyone, apt to teach, patient, ²⁵ that with meekness they might teach those that resist, if God peradventure will grant unto them that they might repent and know the truth,

¹⁹ ¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; ²⁰ for the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, modest, benevolent, full of mercy and of good fruits, not judgmental, unfeigned.

¹¹ ¶ Murmur not against one another, brethren. He that speaks evil of his brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law; but if thou judge the law, thou art not a keeper of the law, but a judge.

¹ ¶ Having therefore left all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envies and all murmurings,

¹⁷ Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. ¹⁸ Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and humane, but also to the unjust.

⁸ ¶ And finally, be ye all of one consent, of one affection, loving each other fraternally, merciful, courteous,

¹⁰ For he that desires to love life and see the good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips that they speak no guile;

⁴ ¶ And it seems strange to those that speak evil of you, that ye do not run with them to the same unchecked dissolution;

¹⁰ ¶ and chiefly those that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise dominion; presumptuous, arrogant, they are not afraid to speak evil of the higher powers;

⁸ ¶ In the same manner these deceived dreamers, defile their flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of higher powers.

¹⁰ But these speak evil of those things which they do not know; but what they know by nature as animals without reason, in those things they corrupt themselves.

² For he flatters himself in his own eyes until his iniquity is found to be hateful.

²² How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and the fools hate knowledge? ²³ Return at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

⁵ O ye simple, understand prudence; and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

⁶ Forsake that which is foolish and live and go in the way of understanding.

²⁰ The ashes feed him; his deceived heart inclines him, that he not deliver his soul and say, Is not the lie at my right hand?

³ The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

²⁹ He answered and said, I will not, but afterward he repented and went.

⁸ Then he said, Take heed that ye not be deceived, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am; and the time draws near; therefore, go ye not after them.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the slave of sin.

¹ ¶ And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, came unto the prince of the priests ² and asked him for letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. ³ And as he proceeded, he came near Damascus; and suddenly there shone round about him a light from heaven; ⁴ and falling to the earth, he heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why dost thou persecute me? ⁵ And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I AM Jesus whom thou dost persecute; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. ⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what it behooves thee to do.

¹⁹ Whereupon, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision, ²⁰ but I announced first unto those of Damascus and at Jerusalem and throughout all the coasts of Judaea and then to the Gentiles that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

²⁹ being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, ³⁰ backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, ³¹ without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, without mercy.

⁹ What then? Are we better than they? No, in no wise; for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles that they are all under sin; ¹⁰ as it is written, There is no one righteous, no, not one; ¹¹ there is no one that understands; there is no one that seeks after God. ¹² They are all gone out of the way; they are together become unprofitable; there is no one that does good, no, not one. ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, ¹⁴ whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; ¹⁵ their feet are swift to shed blood; ¹⁶ destruction and misery are in their ways, ¹⁷ and the way of peace they have not known; ¹⁸ there is no fear of God before their eyes. ¹⁹ ¶ Now we know that all that the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may submit themselves unto God. ²⁰ For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

¹⁷ Thank God that, although ye were the slaves of sin, ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine unto which ye are delivered;

²² But now freed from sin and made slaves to God, ye have as your fruit sanctification and as the end, everlasting life.

⁹ ¶ Know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals ¹⁰ nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you, but now ye are washed, but now ye are sanctified, but now ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.

³ For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

¹ ¶ And he has made you alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, ² in which in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the will of the prince of the power of this air, the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience, ³ among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind and were by nature the children of wrath, even as all the others.

²¹ And you, that were in another time alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now he has reconciled you

⁷ in which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

² For there shall be men who are lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, evil speakers, disobedient to their parents, unthankful, impure, ³ without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, without temperance, without meekness, without goodness,

²⁶ If anyone among you thinks to be religious and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, his religion is vain.

¹⁴ as obedient sons, not conforming yourselves with the former desires that you had before in your ignorance,

¹ ¶ Since the Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, be ye also armed with the same thought; for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, ² so that now the time that remains in the flesh, he might live, not unto the lusts of men, but unto the will of God. ³ For it should suffice us that during the time past of our life we had done the will of the Gentiles, when we conversed in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, gluttony, orgies, and abominable idolatries.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, the serpent of old, who is called Devil and the Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

¹⁴ and deceives those that dwell on the earth by those signs which were given unto him to do in the presence of the beast, commanding those that dwell on the earth to make an image of the beast, which has the wound by the sword, and did live.

² And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of demons, and the hold of every unclean spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

⁴ Or dost thou despise the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, ignoring that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance?

²⁰ Moreover the law entered that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound, ²¹ so that in the same manner as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus, the Christ, our Lord.

⁴ ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great charity with which he loved us, ⁵ even as we were dead in sins, he has made us alive together with the Christ (by whose grace ye are saved) ⁶ and has raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared that we should walk in them.

¹ ¶ Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God, our Saviour and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,

³ For this is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,

¹⁰ For this we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

¹⁰ but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has annulled death, and has brought life and incorruption to light through the gospel,

³ and has manifested in due times. It is his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

¹⁰ not defrauding, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. ¹¹ ¶ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

²⁶ otherwise it would have been necessary for him to suffer many times since the foundation of the world; but now once in the consummation of the ages he has appeared to abolish sin by the sacrifice of himself.

²⁰ If I justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, he shall prove me perverse.

¹⁴ What is man that he should be clean and that he that is born of a woman should be justified?

⁴ How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he that is born of a woman be clean?

¹⁰ Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

¹² Also unto thee, O Lord, belongs mercy, for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

⁵ For thou, Lord, art good and ready to forgive and plenteous in mercy unto all those that call upon thee.

¹⁵ But thou, O Lord, art a merciful and gracious God, longsuffering and plenteous in mercy and truth.

⁷ Let Israel wait for the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy and plenteous redemption close to him.

² And enter not into judgment with thy slave; for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

¹² I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.

¹⁸ Who is a God like unto thee that pardons iniquity, and passes over the rebellion with the remnant of his heritage? He did not retain his anger for ever because he delights in mercy.

⁵⁰ And his mercy is on those that fear him from generation to generation.

⁵⁴ He has received his servant Israel in remembrance of his mercy

⁷² to fulfill mercy unto our fathers and remembering his holy covenant

⁷⁸ through the bowels of mercy of our God, whereby the dayspring from on high has visited us

²⁷ And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy strength and with all thy understanding, and thy neighbour as thyself. ²⁸ And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right; do this, and thou shalt live. ²⁹ But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

³ Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a person be born again from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God. ⁴ Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born? ⁵ Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁰ For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

²⁸ Therefore, we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

⁵ But to him that does not work, but believes in him that justifies the ungodly, the faith is counted as righteousness.

¹¹ (for the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand: not of works, but of him that calls),

¹⁶ So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that has mercy.

³⁰ ¶ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who did not follow after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, that is to say, the righteousness which is by faith,

⁶ And if by grace, then is it not by works; otherwise, the grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace; otherwise, the work is no longer work.

² And be not conformed to this age, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your soul that ye may experience what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

¹¹ And such were some of you, but now ye are washed, but now ye are sanctified, but now ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

¹⁶ Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He did not say, And to seeds, as of many, but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. ¹⁷ And this I say that regarding the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot cancel it, that it should make the promise of no effect. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. ¹⁹ ¶ For what then serves the law? It was added because of rebellions until the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. ²⁰ Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. ²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? No, in no wise, for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he has made us accepted in the beloved; ⁷ in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace,

⁴ ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great charity with which he loved us,

⁸ For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast.

²³ and be renewed in the spirit of your understanding

²⁶ that he might sanctify and cleanse her in the washing of water by the word,

¹⁰ and being clothed with the new man, who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one that created him,

⁹ who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the times of the ages,

⁴ But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

¹⁶ Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of his grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

⁶ and have backslidden, be renewed again by repentance, crucifying again for themselves the Son of God and putting him to an open shame.

³ ¶ Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Christ, who according to his great mercy has begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ, from the dead,

¹⁰ Ye who in the time past were not a people, but are now the people of God, who in the time past had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

²¹ ¶ Unto the figure of which the baptism that does now correspond saves us (not taking away the uncleanness of the flesh, but giving testimony of a good conscience before God) by the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ,

²³ Return at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

¹⁵ until the spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness is turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is counted for a forest.

³ For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground; I will pour my spirit upon thy seed and my blessing upon thine offspring:

²⁵ ¶ And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be cleansed from all your filthiness, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.

²⁸ ¶ And it shall come to pass after this that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

¹⁶ And of his fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

³⁷ ¶ In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any man thirsts, let him come unto me and drink.

¹⁶ and I will ask the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever, ¹⁷ even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see him, or know him; but ye know him, for he dwells with you and shall be in you.

⁷ ¶ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

³³ Therefore being raised up by the right hand of God and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which ye now see and hear.

⁴⁵ And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, that also on the Gentiles the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out.

⁵ and the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.

² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ, Jesus, has made me free from the law of sin and death.

⁸ Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of the Christ

⁴ to Titus, true son in the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus, the Christ, our Saviour.

²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Jesus, the Christ,

⁴ But unto him that works, the reward is not reckoned as grace, but as debt.

¹⁶ Therefore by faith, that it might be by grace, to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to that which is of the law, but also to that which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

¹ ¶ Justified therefore by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus, the Christ, ² by whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and glory in hope of the glory of the sons of God.

¹⁵ But not as the offense, so also is the gift. For if through the offense of that one many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of one man, Jesus the Christ, has abounded unto many. ¹⁶ Nor was it in the same manner as by one sin, likewise also the gift; for the judgment truly came of one sin unto condemnation, but grace came of many offenses unto justification. ¹⁷ For if by one offense, death reigned because of one man; much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of gifts and of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus the Christ. ¹⁸ Therefore, in the same manner that by the iniquity of one guilt came upon all men unto condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one, grace came upon all men unto justification of life. ¹⁹ For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

¹⁷ ¶ and if sons, also heirs certainly of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified together with him.

²³ And not only they, but ourselves also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, that is to say, the redemption of our body. ²⁴ For in hope we are saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for what a man sees, he does not wait for.

²⁹ And if ye are Christ’s, then ye are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

⁷ therefore, thou art no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

² for the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the times of the ages

¹¹ ¶ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

¹³ waiting for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ,

¹⁷ In which God, desiring to show more abundantly unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath,

⁷ By faith Noah, having received revelation of things not seen as yet, with great care prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by which he condemned the world and was made heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

⁹ By faith he sojourned in the promised land, as in a strange country, dwelling in booths with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise;

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world that they might be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those that love him?

⁷ Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them wisely, giving honour unto the woman, as unto a more fragile vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers not be hindered.

² Can a man be profitable unto God? For he that is wise is profitable unto himself.

⁷ If thou art righteous, what shalt thou give him? Or what shall he receive of thine hand? ⁸ Thy wickedness shall hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness shall profit the son of man.

² I said unto the LORD, Thou art my goodness: I have no goodness apart from thee; ³ to the saints that are in the earth and to the excellent: all my delight is towards them.

²² because they had not believed God, nor had they trusted in his saving health;

²⁸ ¶ The false witness shall perish, but the man that hears shall stand fast in his word.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word and believes him that sent me has eternal life and shall not come into judgment but has passed from death unto life.

⁴⁴ ¶ But Jesus cried and said, He that believes in me, believes not in me, but in him that sent me,

¹⁵ And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then they said, It is his angel.

¹³ We having the same Spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed and, therefore, I have spoken; we also believe and, therefore, speak;

¹² For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also abounds in much thanksgiving unto God; ¹³ that by the experience of this ministration, they glorify God for the obedience of your consent unto the gospel of the Christ and in your liberal distribution unto them and unto everyone, ¹⁴ and in their prayer for you, for they love you because of the eminent grace of God in you. ¹⁵ Thanks be unto God for his indescribable gift.

¹⁵ This is a faithful saying and worthy of acceptation by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first.

⁹ holding fast the doctrine according to the faithful word, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

¹ ¶ Admonish them to be subject to dominion and power, and to persuade those who have authority, that they be quick unto every good work.

¹¹ who in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now is profitable to thee and to me,

²¹ who by him do believe God, who raised him up from the dead and has given him glory: that your faith and hope might be in God.

¹⁰ ¶ He that believes in the Son of God has the witness of God in himself; he that does not believe God has made God a liar; because he does not believe the witness that God has testified of his Son. ¹¹ And this is the witness, that God has given eternal life to us, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that has the Son has life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not have life. ¹³ These things I have written unto you that believe in the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.

³ Should he dispute with useless words and with reasons that are not profitable?

¹ ¶ Now as concerning things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but charity edifies.

² And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

³ Even as I besought thee to remain at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou might charge some that they not teach diverse doctrine, ⁴ nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which generate questions other than that the edification of God is by faith. ⁵ ¶ Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart and of a good conscience and of faith unfeigned: ⁶ from which some, having swerved, have turned aside unto vanity of words, ⁷ desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor from where they affirm.

⁷ But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

¹⁴ ¶ Counsel these things, charging them before the Lord. Strive not in words that profit nothing, but rather subvert the hearers.

¹⁶ But avoid profane and vain wordiness, for it will develop into ungodliness.

²³ But foolish and unwise questions refuse, knowing that they do beget contentions.

¹⁴ not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

¹⁵ ¶ Therefore if thy brother shall sin against thee, go and reprove him between thee and him alone; if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. ¹⁶ But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. ¹⁷ And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; but if he neglects to hear the congregation, let him be unto thee as a worldly man and a publican.

¹⁷ ¶ And I beseech you, brethren, mark those who cause dissensions and offences outside of the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them.

⁴ In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, ⁵ let such a one be delivered unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. ⁶ Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? ⁷ ¶ Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ, our passover, is sacrificed for us; ⁸ therefore let us celebrate the feast, not in the old leaven, neither in the leaven of malice and wickedness, but in the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. ⁹ ¶ I wrote unto you in an epistle not to associate with fornicators, ¹⁰ yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners or with idolaters, for then ye would need to go out of the world. ¹¹ But now I have written unto you not to associate with anyone calling himself a brother if he is a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner; with such a one do not even eat. ¹² For why shall I judge those that are without? do ye not judge those that are within? ¹³ But those that are without, God shall judge. Therefore, put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

¹⁹ For it is expedient that there also be heresies among you, so that those who are proved may become manifest among you.

² I told you before and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now, I write to those who until now have sinned and to all others that, if I come again, I will not spare,

¹² I even desire that those who trouble you would cut themselves off.

²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

⁶ ¶ Now we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks out of order, and not after the doctrine which ye received of us.

¹⁴ And if anyone does not hearken unto our word by this epistle, note that one and do not join with him, that he may be ashamed.

⁵ having the appearance of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

¹ ¶ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who covertly shall bring in destructive sects and shall deny the Lord that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

¹⁰ ¶ If anyone comes unto you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house neither say unto him, Welcome:

²⁶ His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful slave, thou knewest that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I have not scattered; ²⁷ therefore, it was expedient for thee to have put my money to the bankers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with interest. ²⁸ Take, therefore, the talent from him and give it unto him who has ten talents.

³⁰ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

²² Then he said unto him, Out of thine own mouth I will judge thee, thou wicked slave. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that which I did not lay down, and reaping that which I did not sow;

¹⁸ He that believes on him is not condemned, but he that does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas speaking with freedom, said, It was necessary indeed that the word of God should first have been spoken to you; but seeing ye put it from you and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

²⁴ forasmuch as we have heard that certain ones who went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised and keep the law, to whom we gave no such commandment,

¹⁹ ¶ Now we know that all that the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may submit themselves unto God.

¹⁹ holding fast faith and a good conscience, which some, having cast away, have shipwrecked in their faith, ²⁰ Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered unto Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.

¹¹ whose mouths it is expedient to stop, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

⁴ And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

⁶ And it may be that I will abide and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey wherever I go.

⁸ But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. ⁹ For a great and effectual door is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

⁹ ¶ Procure to come shortly unto me;

¹² And Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.

²¹ Procure to come before winter. Eubulus greets thee, and Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brethren.

³⁵ And one of them, who was an interpreter of the law, asked him a question, tempting him and saying,

²⁵ ¶ And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

⁴⁵ Then one of the lawyers answered and said unto him, Master, saying these things, thou dost reproach us also.

⁵² Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and those that were entering in, ye hindered.

³ And Jesus, answering, spoke unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

²⁴ ¶ And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

⁵ And when we had accomplished those days, we departed; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, until we were out of the city; and we knelt down on the shore and prayed.

¹⁰ who also honoured us with many gifts; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

²⁴ when I leave for Spain, I will come unto you; for I trust to see you on my journey and to be taken there by you, if first I may enjoy your company.

¹¹ Let no man therefore, despise, him, but conduct him forth in peace that he may come unto me, for I look for him with the brothers.

⁶ who have borne witness of thy charity before the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}, whom if thou wilt help them as is convenient according to God, thou shalt do well; ⁷ because for his name’s sake, they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. ⁸ We, therefore, ought to receive such, that we might be fellow workers to the truth.

³ to order in Zion those that mourn, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

¹⁹ Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

¹⁹ And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it and found nothing upon it, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee from now on for ever. And then the fig tree withered away.

⁶ ¶ And He spoke this parable: A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came and sought fruit upon it and found none. ⁷ Then he said unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none; cut it down; why does it cumber the ground? ⁸ And he, answering, said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also until I shall dig about it and dung it, ⁹ and if it bears fruit, well; and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

⁸ In this is my Father clarified, in that ye bear much fruit; and in this manner ye shall be my disciples.

¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it unto you.

³ And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them and worked, for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

³⁵ I have showed you in all things how that so labouring, ye ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

²⁸ So that, when I have concluded this and have delivered unto them this fruit, I will come by you unto Spain.

²⁸ Let him that stole steal no more, but rather let him labour, working with his hands that which is good, that he may have to give to him that is in need.

¹⁷ Not because I desire a gift, but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

⁹ For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail, for labouring night and day, not to be a burden unto any of you, we preached among you the gospel of God.

⁸ neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought, but working with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you,

⁶ and have backslidden, be renewed again by repentance, crucifying again for themselves the Son of God and putting him to an open shame. ⁷ For the earth which drinks in the rain that comes often upon it and brings forth herbs in season for those by whom it is dressed receives blessing from God; ⁸ but that which bears thorns and briers is rejected and is near unto cursing, whose end shall be by fire. ⁹ ¶ But, beloved, we expect better things than these of you, things near unto saving health, though we thus speak. ¹⁰ For God is not unjust to forget your work and labour of charity which ye have showed in his name, having helped the saints and helping them. ¹¹ But we desire that each one of you show the same diligence until the end for the fulfillment of your hope, ¹² that ye not become slothful, but imitators of those who by faith and patience inherit the promises.

⁸ For if these things are in you and abound, they shall not let you be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ ¶ I commend unto you Phebe our sister, who is a servant of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} which is at Cenchrea, ² that ye receive her in the Lord as a worthy saint, and that ye assist her in whatever thing in which she has need of you, for she has been a helper of many and of myself also. ³ Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus ⁴ (who have for my life laid down their own necks; unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of the Gentiles); ⁵ likewise greet the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia in Christ. ⁶ Greet Mary, who has laboured much with us. ⁷ Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen and my fellowprisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me. ⁸ Greet Amplias, my beloved in the Lord. ⁹ Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys, my beloved. ¹⁰ Salute Apelles, approved in Christ. Salute those who are of Aristobulus’ household. ¹¹ Salute Herodion, my kinsman. Greet those that are of the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord. ¹² Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, who laboured much in the Lord. ¹³ Salute Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine. ¹⁴ Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren who are with them. ¹⁵ Salute Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them. ¹⁶ Salute one another with a holy kiss. All the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of Christ salute you. ¹⁷ ¶ And I beseech you, brethren, mark those who cause dissensions and offences outside of the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them. ¹⁸ For they that are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly and by smooth words and blessings deceive the hearts of the simple. ¹⁹ For your obedience is come abroad unto all places. I am glad therefore on your behalf, but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good and innocent concerning evil. ²⁰ And let the God of peace bruise Satan under your feet quickly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. ⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything nor uncircumcision, but faith which works by charity.

²³ Peace be to the brethren and charity with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. ²⁴ Grace be with all those that love our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruption. Amen.

⁵ hearing of thy charity and faith, which thou hast in the Lord Jesus and toward all saints;

¹ ¶ The elder unto the chosen lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all those that have known the truth, ² for the truth’s sake, which abides in us and shall be with us for ever.

¹ ¶ The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
