¹ A Psalm of David. I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing praises. ² I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way: Oh when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. ³ I will set no base thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave unto me. ⁴ A froward heart shall depart from me: I will know no evil thing. ⁵ Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I destroy: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will I not suffer. ⁶ Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall minister unto me. ⁷ He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that speaketh falsehood shall not be established before mine eyes. ⁸ Morning by morning will I destroy all the wicked of the land; to cut off all the workers of iniquity from the city of the LORD.

¹⁴ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation; [and] my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

²² I will also praise thee with the psaltery, [even] thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing praises with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. ²³ My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing praises unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

¹ Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

⁸ Zion heard and was glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoiced; because of thy judgments, O LORD.

⁶ The LORD executeth righteous acts, and judgments for all that are oppressed. ⁷ He made known his ways unto Moses, his doings unto the children of Israel. ⁸ The LORD is full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

¹⁰ To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ¹¹ And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ¹² With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy [endureth] for ever. ¹³ To him which divided the Red Sea in sunder: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ¹⁴ And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ¹⁵ But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea: for his mercy [endureth] for ever. ¹⁶ To him which led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy [endureth] for ever. ¹⁷ To him which smote great kings: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ¹⁸ And slew famous kings: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ¹⁹ Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ²⁰ And Og king of Bashan: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ²¹ And gave their land for an heritage: for his mercy [endureth] for ever: ²² Even an heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.

⁷ They shall utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.

¹⁵ For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. ¹⁶ So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy. ¹⁷ For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might shew in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth. ¹⁸ So then he hath mercy on whom he will, and whom he will he hardeneth.

²² What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering vessels of wrath fitted unto destruction: ²³ and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto glory,

²² Behold then the goodness and severity of God: toward them that fell, severity; but toward thee, God’s goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the ages. ⁴ Who shall not fear, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy; for all the nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy righteous acts have been made manifest.

¹ After these things I heard as it were a great voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, Hallelujah; Salvation, and glory, and power, belong to our God: ² for true and righteous are his judgments; for he hath judged the great harlot, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and he hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. ³ And a second time they say, Hallelujah. And her smoke goeth up for ever and ever.

¹⁹ For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; to the end that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

⁷ and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

¹⁵ And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

¹⁴ And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him. ¹⁵ And when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he stood in awe of him.

¹⁴ Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who among all thy servants is so faithful as David, which is the king’s son in law, and is taken into thy council, and is honourable in thine house?

¹⁵ And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

⁴ And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments;

⁴ For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

¹⁷ But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

¹² Also in Judah was the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the word of the LORD.

²⁰ And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah; and he wrought that which was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. ²¹ And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

¹⁷ But I am poor and needy; [yet] the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

¹ For the Chief Musician; [set to] Al-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song. We give thanks unto thee, O God; we give thanks, for thy name is near: men tell of thy wondrous works. ² When I shall find the set time, I will judge uprightly.

⁶ Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall minister unto me.

¹⁰⁶ I have sworn, and have confirmed it, that I will observe thy righteous judgments.

¹¹⁵ Depart from me, ye evil-doers; that I may keep the commandments of my God.

⁷ Make haste to answer me, O LORD; my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me; lest I become like them that go down into the pit. ⁸ Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

³ and said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

⁵ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute judgment and justice in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The LORD is our righteousness.

⁴ one that ruleth well his own house, having [his] children in subjection with all gravity; ⁵ (but if a man knoweth not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

¹⁷ Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

⁸ they have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed unto it, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁷ And there shall cleave nought of the devoted thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;

⁹ Beware that there be not a base thought in thine heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou give him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

⁶ Therefore be ye very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;

²⁰ And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have indeed done all this evil: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart; ²¹ and turn ye not aside: for [then should ye go] after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver, for they are vain.

¹¹ It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And Samuel was wroth; and he cried unto the LORD all night.

² And it came to pass at eventide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. ³ And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

² And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house; and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it: or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money. ³ And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee. ⁴ And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread. ⁵ But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread? ⁶ And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee [another] vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard. ⁷ And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. ⁸ So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, [and] that dwelt with Naboth. ⁹ And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: ¹⁰ and set two men, sons of Belial, before him, and let them bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst curse God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he die. ¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. ¹³ And the two men, sons of Belial, came in and sat before him: and the men of Belial bare witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did curse God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died. ¹⁴ Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead. ¹⁶ And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it. ¹⁷ And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ¹⁸ Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which dwelleth in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to take possession of it. ¹⁹ And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? and thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine. ²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD. ²¹ Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will utterly sweep thee away, and will cut off from Ahab every man child, and him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel: ²² and I will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and hast made Israel to sin. ²³ And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the rampart of Jezreel. ²⁴ Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat. ²⁵ (But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to do that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. ²⁶ And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites did, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.) ²⁷ And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly. ²⁸ And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ²⁹ Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.

¹ I MADE a covenant with mine eyes; how then should I look upon a maid?

³ They are all gone aside; they are together become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

²⁰ The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²² For all his judgments were before me, and I put not away his statutes from me. ²³ I was also perfect with him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

⁴ I have not sat with vain persons; neither will I go in with dissemblers. ⁵ I hate the congregation of evil-doers, and will not sit with the wicked.

³ The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise [and] to do good.

¹ For the Chief Musician, for Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

⁴ Blessed is the man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

⁴¹ And they turned again and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

⁵⁷ But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

¹⁰ O ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

³⁷ Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity, and quicken me in thy ways.

¹¹³ I hate them that are of a double mind; but thy law do I love.

⁵ But as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.

²⁵ Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

³¹ Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth its colour in the cup, when it goeth down smoothly. ³² At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. ³³ Thine eyes shall behold strange things, and thine heart shall utter froward things. ³⁴ Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. ³⁵ They have stricken me, [shalt thou say], and I was not hurt; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

⁹ Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this also is vanity and a striving after wind.

¹¹ get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

¹⁵ He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from looking upon evil;

¹⁷ But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire. ⁷ They are all hot as an oven, and devour their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

² And they covet fields, and seize them; and houses, and take them away: and they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

⁵ and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship, which swear to the LORD and swear by Malcam; ⁶ and them that are turned back from following the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor inquired after him.

²⁸ but I say unto you, that every one that looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

⁹ Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

⁹ but now that ye have come to know God, or rather to be known of God, how turn ye back again to the weak and beggarly rudiments, whereunto ye desire to be in bondage over again?

³⁹ But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; but of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul.

¹³ Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man: ¹⁴ but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin: and the sin, when it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death.

²¹ For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but [they went out], that they might be made manifest how that they all are not of us.

⁸ Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.

¹² To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the men that speak froward things; ¹³ Who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; ¹⁴ Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of evil; ¹⁵ Who are crooked in their ways, and perverse in their paths:

³² For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the upright.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

⁶ Leave off, ye simple ones, and live; and walk in the way of understanding.

²⁰ They that are perverse in heart are an abomination to the LORD: but such as are perfect in [their] way are his delight.

²⁴ Make no friendship with a man that is given to anger; and with a wrathful man thou shalt not go:

²³ And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

¹⁴ Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what portion hath a believer with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

³³ and through a window was I let down in a basket by the wall, and escaped his hands.

¹⁹ Howbeit the firm foundation of God standeth, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his: and, Let every one that nameth the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.

¹⁶ Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

¹ Thou shalt not take up a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

¹⁶ Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.

³ Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

¹¹ Pour forth the overflowings of thine anger: and look upon every one that is proud, and abase him. ¹² Look on every one that is proud, [and] bring him low; and tread down the wicked where they stand.

² In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued; let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. ³ For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and the covetous renounceth, [yea], contemneth the LORD. ⁴ The wicked, in the pride of his countenance, [saith], He will not require [it]. All his thoughts are, There is no God.

³ He that slandereth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his friend, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.

²⁷ For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but the haughty eyes thou wilt bring down.

²⁰ Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.

⁶ For though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the haughty he knoweth from afar.

¹⁶ There be six things which the LORD hateth; yea, seven which are an abomination unto him: ¹⁷ Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood; ¹⁸ An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief; ¹⁹ A false witness that uttereth lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

¹⁸ He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; and he that uttereth a slander is a fool.

¹⁹ He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that openeth wide his lips.

²³ The north wind bringeth forth rain: so doth a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.

¹³ There is a generation, Oh how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

⁹ Slanderous men have been in thee to shed blood: and in thee they have eaten upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they have committed lewdness.

³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

³ The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? ⁴ Though thou mount on high as the eagle, and though thy nest be set among the stars, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.

¹⁴ I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹¹ but now I write unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat.

¹¹ Women in like manner [must be] grave, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

³ that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanour, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good;

⁵ Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;

⁴ In whose eyes a reprobate is despised; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous, and his ears are [open] unto their cry.

¹ Blessed are they that are perfect in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. ² Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, that seek him with the whole heart. ³ Yea, they do no unrighteousness; they walk in his ways.

⁶³ I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that observe thy precepts.

²⁸ When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.

² When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice: but when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.

⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath set over his household, to give them their food in due season?

⁴³ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. ⁴⁴ Of a truth I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath.

²⁶ If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will the Father honour.

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.

²⁴ Father, that which thou hast given me, I will that, where I am, they also may be with me; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

¹ Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the [powers] that be are ordained of God. ² Therefore he that resisteth the power, withstandeth the ordinance of God: and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judgment. ³ For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And wouldest thou have no fear of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same: ⁴ for he is a minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that doeth evil.

¹² Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may apprehend that for which also I was apprehended by Christ Jesus. ¹³ Brethren, I count not myself yet to have apprehended: but one thing [I do], forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, ¹⁴ I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, even this shall God reveal unto you:

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. ²¹ He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.

³ And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God:

¹⁰ when one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his tidings. ¹¹ How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed, shall I not now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth? ¹² And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up beside the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.

²⁶ And he said unto him, Went not mine heart [with thee], when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards and vineyards, and sheep and oxen, and menservants and maidservants? ²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper [as white] as snow.

² Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

¹² If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.

¹⁶ Brethren, it was needful that the scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was numbered among us, and received his portion in this ministry. ¹⁸ (Now this man obtained a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ And it became known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch that in their language that field was called Akeldama, that is, The field of blood.) ²⁰ For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be made desolate, And let no man dwell therein: and, His office let another take.

²⁵ to take the place in this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.

¹ But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, ² and kept back [part] of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. ³ But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? ⁴ Whiles it remained, did it not remain thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thy power? How is it that thou hast conceived this thing in thy heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. ⁵ And Ananias hearing these words fell down and gave up the ghost: and great fear came upon all that heard it. ⁶ And the young men arose and wrapped him round, and they carried him out and buried him. ⁷ And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. ⁸ And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much. And she said, Yea, for so much. ⁹ But Peter [said] unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and they shall carry thee out. ¹⁰ And she fell down immediately at his feet, and gave up the ghost: and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her by her husband.

⁴ There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.

² Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, [on] the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

⁸ As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah

¹⁰ All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.

¹⁰ All nations compassed me about: in the name of the LORD I will cut them off. ¹¹ They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: in the name of the LORD I will cut them off. ¹² They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.

¹² It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

⁸ A king that sitteth on the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

²⁶ A wise king winnoweth the wicked, and bringeth the [threshing] wheel over them.

¹² O house of David, thus saith the LORD, Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

³ They shall not dwell in the LORD’S land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean food in Assyria.

⁸ But of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye strip the robe from off the garment from them that pass by securely [as men] averse from war. ⁹ The women of my people ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their young children ye take away my glory for ever. ¹⁰ Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because of uncleanness that destroyeth, even with a grievous destruction.

¹ And I said, Hear, I pray you, ye heads of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel: is it not for you to know judgment? ² who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; ³ who also eat the flesh of my people; and they flay their skin from off them, and break their bones: yea, they chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron. ⁴ Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not answer them: yea, he will hide his face from them at that time, according as they have wrought evil in their doings.

⁹ Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.

²⁷ and there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean, or he that maketh an abomination and a lie: but only they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

¹⁴ Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right [to come] to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city. ¹⁵ Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.
