¹ [A Psalm] of David. Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. ² Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. ³ When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. ⁴ For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture was changed [as] with the drought of summer. Selah ⁵ I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah ⁶ For this let every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely when the great waters overflow they shall not reach unto him. ⁷ Thou art my hiding place; thou wilt preserve me from trouble; thou wilt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah ⁸ I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will counsel thee with mine eye upon thee. ⁹ Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose trappings must be bit and bridle to hold them in, [else] they will not come near unto thee. ¹⁰ Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. ¹¹ Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

⁵ and cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked [thee] to anger before the builders.

¹ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. ² But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

⁴ Blessed is the man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

¹ For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim; [a Psalm] of the sons of Korah. Maschil. A Song of loves. My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter: I speak the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

¹ For the Chief Musician. Maschil of David: when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the mercy of God [endureth] continually.

¹ For the Chief Musician; set to Mahalath. Maschil of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity; there is none that doeth good.

¹ For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. Maschil of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

¹² O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

² Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah

¹⁵ Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

³ Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

¹ Blessed are they that are perfect in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. ² Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, that seek him with the whole heart.

¹ A Song of Ascents. Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD, that walketh in his ways.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

²⁵ I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake; and I will not remember thy sins.

²² I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

⁷ Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. ⁸ For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out his roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat cometh, but his leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

¹⁸ Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. ¹⁹ He will turn again and have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot: and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. ⁵ Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. ⁶ Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. ⁷ Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. ⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. ⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God. ¹⁰ Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when [men] shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. ¹² Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

²⁸ But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

³⁸ Be it known unto you therefore, brethren, that through this man is proclaimed unto you remission of sins: ³⁹ and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

⁶ Even as David also pronounceth blessing upon the man, unto whom God reckoneth righteousness apart from works, ⁷ [saying], Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, And whose sins are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not reckon sin.

¹⁴ Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right [to come] to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

⁴ and hath not brought it unto the door of the tent of meeting, to offer it as an oblation unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD: blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

¹³ for until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

¹² For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

¹⁹ to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation. ²⁰ We are ambassadors therefore on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beseech [you] on behalf of Christ, be ye reconciled to God. ²¹ Him who knew no sin he made [to be] sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

¹ Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, ² as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation;

⁵ And in their mouth was found no lie: they are without blemish.

⁸ And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. ⁹ And the LORD God called unto the man, and said unto him, Where art thou? ¹⁰ And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. ¹¹ And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? ¹² And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. ¹³ And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. ¹⁴ And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, cursed art thou above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: ¹⁵ and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. ¹⁶ Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. ¹⁷ And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; ¹⁸ thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; ¹⁹ in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

¹³ And they took their bones, and buried them under the tamarisk tree in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

²⁷ And when the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

¹² And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, in the day that the Philistines slew Saul in Gilboa: ¹³ and he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged. ¹⁴ And they buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was entreated for the land.

²⁴ For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like water.

¹⁷ In the night season my bones are pierced in me, and the [pains] that gnaw me take no rest.

³⁰ My skin is black, [and falleth] from me, and my bones are burned with heat.

² Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am withered away: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

¹ For the Chief Musician; set to Aijeleth hash-Shahar. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? [why art thou so] far from helping me, [and from] the words of my roaring?

⁹ Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in distress: mine eye wasteth away with grief, [yea], my soul and my body. ¹⁰ For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are wasted away.

³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation; neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.

⁸ I am faint and sore bruised: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

⁸ Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

³ For my days consume away like smoke, and my bones are burned as a firebrand. ⁴ My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; for I forget to eat my bread. ⁵ By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my flesh.

¹³ He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.

²⁰ Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the top of all the streets, as an antelope in a net; they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God.

¹⁷ For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth and smote him, I hid [my face] and was wroth: and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.

¹¹ We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself [thus], Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a calf unaccustomed [to the yoke]: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God. ¹⁹ Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

³ Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude; she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her within the straits.

⁴ My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.

⁸ Yea, when I cry and call for help, he shutteth out my prayer.

¹⁴ And they have not cried unto me with their heart, but they howl upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, they rebel against me.

¹⁵ And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. ¹⁶ And he would fain have been filled with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

⁶ But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with tumours, even Ashdod and the borders thereof. ⁷ And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon as, and upon Dagon our god.

⁹ And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great discomfiture: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and tumours brake out upon them.

¹¹ They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to its own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly discomfiture throughout all the city, the hand of God was very heavy there.

⁹ And see, if it goeth up by the way of its own border to Beth-shemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.

²¹ That he would maintain the right of a man with God, and of a son of man with his neighbour!

⁷ Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my pressure be heavy upon thee.

¹⁵ My Strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

² For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore. ³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation; neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin. ⁴ For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. ⁵ My wounds stink and are corrupt, because of my foolishness. ⁶ I am pained and bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. ⁷ For my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh. ⁸ I am faint and sore bruised: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

¹⁰ Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand. ¹¹ When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah

⁶ In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth. ⁷ For we are consumed in thine anger, and in thy wrath are we troubled.

³ For my days consume away like smoke, and my bones are burned as a firebrand. ⁴ My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; for I forget to eat my bread.

⁸ Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.

¹⁰ Our skin is black like an oven because of the burning heat of famine.

³⁹ And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them. ⁴⁰ And they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me, and also that because they have walked contrary unto me,

¹⁹ And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.

⁹ Wherefore hast thou despised the word of the LORD, to do that which is evil in his sight? thou hast smitten Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

¹³ And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

¹⁰ And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: but now, O LORD, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

³³ If like Adam I covered my transgressions, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom;

²⁷ He singeth before men, and saith, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not:

⁵ For his anger is but for a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may tarry for the night, but joy [cometh] in the morning.

¹⁸ For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

³ For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. ⁴ Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in thy sight: that thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. ⁵ Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

⁵ For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

¹⁵ But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

³ Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

¹² As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

²⁰ So is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

²⁴ And it shall come to pass that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

²³ How canst thou say, I am not defiled, I have not gone after the Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: [thou art] a swift dromedary traversing her ways;

³⁵ Yet thou saidst, I am innocent; surely his anger is turned away from me. Behold, I will enter into judgment with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.

¹³ Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.

²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

¹ Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

⁸ Will a man rob God? yet ye rob me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

⁴⁷ Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.

¹⁷ But when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger! ¹⁸ I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: ¹⁹ I am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. ²⁰ And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. ²¹ And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: I am no more worthy to be called thy son. ²² But the father said to his servants, Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: ²³ and bring the fatted calf, [and] kill it, and let us eat, and make merry:

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

³² and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

¹⁷ And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. ¹⁸ And the waters prevailed, and increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high mountains that were under the whole heaven were covered. ²⁰ Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. ²¹ And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both fowl, and cattle, and beast, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: ²² all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

³ But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

² My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the meek shall hear thereof, and be glad. ³ O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. ⁴ I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. ⁵ They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces shall never be confounded.

³ And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

⁷ Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

¹² Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation: and uphold me with a free spirit. ¹³ Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

¹ For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim. [A Psalm] of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. ² I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

¹³ But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy, answer me in the truth of thy salvation. ¹⁴ Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. ¹⁵ Let not the waterflood overwhelm me, neither let the deep swallow me up; and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

⁴ Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: ⁵ Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

⁷ Stretch forth thine hand from above; rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, out of the hand of strangers;

²⁸ Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me diligently, but they shall not find me:

² When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

⁸ Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I answered thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages;

⁶ Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

²⁴ Every one therefore which heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, which built his house upon the rock: ²⁵ and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon the rock. ²⁶ And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: ²⁷ and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof.

⁴² saying, If thou hadst known in this day, even thou, the things which belong unto peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon thee, when thine enemies shall cast up a bank about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, ⁴⁴ and shall dash thee to the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

³⁴ Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, ye cannot come.

⁴ who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

² (for he saith, At an acceptable time I hearkened unto thee, And in a day of salvation did I succour thee: behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation):

⁹ Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye were made sorry unto repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly sort, that ye might suffer loss by us in nothing. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation, [a repentance] which bringeth no regret: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

¹⁶ howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ shew forth all his longsuffering, for an ensample of them which should hereafter believe on him unto eternal life.

¹² instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world;

¹⁵ And the serpent cast out of his mouth after the woman water as a river, that he might cause her to be carried away by the stream. ¹⁶ And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

¹ Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: The horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. ² The LORD is my strength and song, And he is become my salvation: This is my God, and I will praise him; My father’s God, and I will exalt him. ³ The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

¹ Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

¹ And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

¹² For thou wilt bless the righteous; O LORD, thou wilt compass him with favour as with a shield.

⁹ The LORD also will be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble;

⁵ The cords of Sheol were round about me: the snares of death came on me.

⁵ For in the day of trouble he shall keep me secretly in his pavilion: in the covert of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall lift me up upon a rock.

²⁰ In the covert of thy presence shalt thou hide them from the plottings of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

¹⁰ Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.

¹ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

¹ A Psalm. Sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvelous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath wrought salvation for him.

¹¹⁴ Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

⁹ Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

²⁶ And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.

³ For ye died, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

¹⁰ and they cry with a great voice, saying, Salvation unto our God which sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb.

² And I saw as it were a glassy sea mingled with fire; and them that come victorious from the beast, and from his image, and from the number of his name, standing by the glassy sea, having harps of God. ³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the ages.

⁸ Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he instruct sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. ¹⁰ All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

¹¹ Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

¹ My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not upon thine own understanding: ⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

¹ Hear, [my] sons, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding: ² For I give you good doctrine; forsake ye not my law. ³ For I was a son unto my father, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. ⁴ And he taught me, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words; keep my commandments, and live: ⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding; forget [it] not, neither decline from the words of my mouth: ⁶ Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee. ⁷ Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom: yea, with all thou hast gotten get understanding. ⁸ Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. ⁹ She shall give to thine head a chaplet of grace: a crown of beauty shall she deliver to thee. ¹⁰ Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. ¹¹ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness. ¹² When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. ¹³ Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

¹⁰ Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared unto her.

¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

¹¹ Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

³ A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the back of fools.

²² For my people is foolish, they know me not; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

⁶ I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repenteth him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turneth to his course, as a horse that rusheth headlong in the battle. ⁷ Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the ordinance of the LORD.

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself [thus], Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a calf unaccustomed [to the yoke]: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.

³ Now if we put the horses’ bridles into their mouths, that they may obey us, we turn about their whole body also.

⁷ Be subject therefore unto God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you. ⁸ Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye doubleminded. ⁹ Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. ¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall exalt you.

¹² Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

⁴ Their sorrows shall be multiplied that exchange [the LORD] for another [god]: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take their names upon my lips.

⁸ O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. ²⁰ He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. ²¹ Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be condemned.

¹¹ An evil speaker shall not be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

⁵ Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

¹¹ The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

²¹ Evil pursueth sinners: but the righteous shall be recompensed with good.

²⁰ He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.

¹² Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and prolong his [days], yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:

¹¹ Woe unto the wicked! [it shall be] ill [with him]: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and song; and he is become my salvation. ³ Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

²¹ There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

⁸ but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, [shall be] wrath and indignation, ⁹ tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek;

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

¹² and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates, forasmuch as he hath no portion nor inheritance with you.

¹ And Hannah prayed, and said: My heart exulteth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

¹¹ And they sang one to another in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD, [saying], For he is good, for his mercy [endureth] for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. ¹² But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ [houses], the old men that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy: ¹³ so that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.

¹¹ But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice, let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

¹⁰ My shield is with God, which saveth the upright in heart.

² Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

¹ Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: praise is comely for the upright.

¹⁰ The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

³ But let the righteous be glad; let them exult before God: yea, let them rejoice with gladness.

¹ The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad.

¹² Be glad in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks to his holy name.

⁴ Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: break forth and sing for joy, yea, sing praises.

⁴ Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.

⁷ Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel [thou shalt become] a plain: and he shall bring forth the head stone with shoutings of Grace, grace, unto it.

¹¹ and not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

¹ Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but for you it is safe.

³ for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord alway: again I will say, Rejoice.
