⁹ Woe be vnto him that striueth with his maker, the potsherd with the potsherds of the earth: shall the clay say to him that facioneth it, What makest thou? or thy worke, It hath none hands?

¹⁶ And in deede, for this cause haue I appointed thee, to shewe my power in thee, and to declare my Name throughout all the world. ¹⁷ Yet thou exaltest thy selfe against my people, and lettest them not goe.

²⁴ Affliction and anguish shall make him afraide: they shall preuaile against him as a King readie to the battell. ²⁵ For he hath stretched out his hand against GOD, and made him selfe strong against the Almightie. ²⁶ Therefore God shall runne vpon him, euen vpon his necke, and against the most thicke part of his shielde.

⁸ Hide them in the dust together, and binde their faces in a secret place. ⁹ Then will I confesse vnto thee also, that thy right hand can saue thee.

² The Kings of the earth band themselues, and the princes are assembled together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ³ Let vs breake their bands, and cast their cordes from vs. ⁴ But he that dwelleth in the heauen, shall laugh: the Lord shall haue them in derision. ⁵ Then shall hee speake vnto them in his wrath, and vexe them in his sore displeasure, saying, ⁶ Euen I haue set my King vpon Zion mine holy mountaine. ⁷ I will declare the decree: that is, the Lord hath said vnto me, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee. ⁸ Aske of me, and I shall giue thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the endes of the earth for thy possession. ⁹ Thou shalt krush them with a scepter of yron, and breake them in pieces like a potters vessell.

³⁰ There is no wisedome, neither vnderstanding, nor counsell against the Lord.

¹⁵ Shall the axe boast it selfe against him that heweth therewith? or shall the sawe exalt it selfe against him that moueth it? as if the rod shoulde lift vp it selfe against him that taketh it vp, or the staffe should exalt it selfe, as it were no wood.

¹⁶ Your turning of deuises shall it not be esteemed as the potters clay? for shall the worke say of him that made it, Hee made me not? or the thing formed, say of him that facioned it, He had none vnderstanding?

⁸ But now, O Lord, thou art our Father: we are the clay, and thou art our potter, and we all are the worke of thine hands.

⁶ O house of Israel, cannot I doe with you as this potter, sayth the Lord? beholde, as the clay is in the potters hande, so are you in mine hande, O house of Israel.

²⁴ I haue snared thee, and thou art taken, O Babel, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striuen against the Lord.

²⁰ But, O man, who art thou which pleadest against God? shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? ²¹ Hath not the potter power of the clay to make of the same lumpe one vessell to honour, and another vnto dishonour?

²² Doe we prouoke the Lord to anger? are we stronger then he?
