¹⁸ And yee are risen vp against my fathers house this day, and haue slayne his children, about seuentie persons vpon one stone, and haue made Abimelech the sonne of his mayde seruant, King ouer the men of Shechem, because hee is your brother) ¹⁹ If ye then haue delt truely and purely with Ierubbaal, and with his house this day, then reioyce with you.

²⁷ Therefore they went out into the field, and gathered in their grapes and troade them, and made merie, and went into the house of their gods, and did eate and drinke, and cursed Abimelech.

⁴⁶ And when all the men of the towre of Shechem heard it, they entred into an holde of the house of the god Berith.

⁵⁴ Then Abimelech called hastily his page that bare his harneis, and sayde vnto him, Drawe thy sworde and slay me, that men say not of me, A woman slewe him. And his page thrust him thorowe, and he dyed.

⁴ And he had thirtie sonnes that rode on thirtie assecolts, and they had thirtie cities, which are called Hauoth-Iair vnto this day, and are in the land of Gilead.

⁹ And Iphtah said vnto the Elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home againe to fight against the children of Ammon, if the Lord giue them before me, shall I be your head? ¹⁰ And the Elders of Gilead saide to Iphtah, The Lord be witnesse betweene vs, if we doe not according to thy wordes. ¹¹ Then Iphtah went with the Elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captaine ouer them: and Iphtah rehearsed all his wordes before the Lord in Mizpeh.

¹ And the me of Ephraim gathered themselues together, and went Northwarde, and saide vnto Iphtah, Wherefore wentest thou to fight against the children of Ammon, and diddest not call vs to goe with thee? we will therefore burne thine house vpon thee with fire. ² And Iphtah said vnto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon, and when I called you, ye deliuered me not out of their handes. ³ So when I sawe that ye deliuered me not, I put my life in mine hands, and went vpon the children of Ammon: so the Lord deliuered them into mine handes. Wherefore then are ye come vpon me nowe to fight against me? ⁴ Then Iphtah gathered all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are runnagates of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites. ⁵ Also the Gileadites tooke the passages of Iorden before the Ephraimites, and when the Ephraimites that were escaped, saide, Let me passe, then the men of Gilead said vnto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay, ⁶ Then said they vnto him, Say nowe Shibboleth: and he said, Sibboleth: for he could not so pronounce: then they tooke him, and slewe him at the passages of Iorden: and there fel at that time of the Ephraimites two and fourtie thousand.

⁵ And this man Michah had an house of gods, and made an Ephod, and Teraphim, and cosecrated one of his sonnes, who was his Priest.

¹⁴ Then answered the fiue men, that went to spie out the countrey of Laish, and said vnto their brethren, Knowe ye not, that there is in these houses an Ephod, and Teraphim, and a grauen and a molten image? Nowe therefore consider what ye haue to doe.

³⁵ And the Lord smote Beniamin before Israel, and the children of Israel destroyed of the Beniamites the same day fiue and twenty thousand and an hundreth men: all they could handle the sword.

⁹ And Dauid hauing knowledge that Saul imagined mischiefe against him, saide to Abiathar the Priest, Bring the Ephod. ¹⁰ Then sayde Dauid, O Lord God of Israel, thy seruat hath heard, that Saul is about to come to Keilah to destroy the citie for my sake.

³⁷ For herein is the saying true, that one soweth, and an other reapeth.

⁴ Loue suffreth long: it is bountifull: loue enuieth not: loue doeth not boast it selfe: it is not puffed vp: ⁵ It doeth no vncomely thing: it seeketh not her owne things: it is not prouoked to anger: it thinketh not euill: ⁶ It reioyceth not in iniquitie, but reioyceth in the trueth: ⁷ It suffreth all things: it beleeueth all things: it hopeth all things: it endureth all things.

²⁴ Not that wee haue dominion ouer your faith, but wee are helpers of your ioy: for by faith yee stande.

⁸ Wee are afflicted on euery side, yet are we not in distresse: we are in doubt, but yet wee despaire not. ⁹ We are persecuted, but not forsaken: cast downe, but we perish not.

¹⁶ Therefore we faint not, but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed daily.

¹⁴ For all the Lawe is fulfilled in one worde, which is this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe. ¹⁵ If ye bite and deuoure one another, take heede least ye be consumed one of another.

¹ Wherefore, let vs also, seeing that we are compassed with so great a cloude of witnesses, cast away euery thing that presseth downe, and the sinne that hangeth so fast on: let vs runne with patience the race that is set before vs, ² Looking vnto Iesus the authour and finisher of our faith, who for the ioy that was set before him, endured the crosse, and despised the shame, and is set at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ Consider therefore him that endured such speaking against of sinners, lest ye should be wearied and faint in your mindes. ⁴ Ye haue not yet resisted vnto blood, striuing against sinne.

¹⁹ Wherefore my deare brethren, let euery man be swift to heare, slowe to speake, and slowe to wrath. ²⁰ For the wrath of man doeth not accomplish the righteousnesse of God.

¹³ Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew by good conuersation his workes in meekenesse of wisdome. ¹⁴ But if ye haue bitter enuying and strife in your hearts, reioyce not, neither be liars against the trueth. ¹⁵ This wisedome descendeth not from aboue, but is earthly, sensuall, and deuilish. ¹⁶ For where enuying and strife is, there is sedition, and all maner of euill workes. ¹⁷ But the wisedome that is from aboue, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easie to be intreated, full of mercie and good fruites, without iudging, and without hipocrisie. ¹⁸ And the fruite of righteousnesse is sowen in peace, of them that make peace.

⁵ Doe ye thinke that the Scripture sayeth in vaine, The spirit that dwelleth in vs, lusteth after enuie? ⁶ But the Scripture offereth more grace, and therefore sayth, God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble.

³ Whose apparelling, let it not be that outwarde, with broyded heare, and golde put about, or in putting on of apparell: ⁴ But let it bee the hidde man of the heart, which consisteth in the incorruption of a meeke and quiet spirite, which is before God a thing much set by. ⁵ For euen after this maner in time past did the holy women, which trusted in God, tire them selues, and were subiect to their husbands.

³ Not as though ye were lords ouer Gods heritage, but that yee may bee ensamples to the flocke.

⁶ Which bare witnesse of thy loue before the Churches. Whom if thou bringest on their iourney as it beseemeth according to God, thou shalt doe well, ⁷ Because that for his Names sake they went forth, and tooke nothing of the Gentiles. ⁸ We therefore ought to receiue such, that we might be helpers to the trueth.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their owne lustes: Whose mouthes speake proud things, hauing mens persons in admiration, because of aduantage.

¹⁵ And the Kinges of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chiefe captaines, and the mighty men, and euery bondman, and euery free man, hid themselues in dennes, and among the rockes of the mountaines, ¹⁶ And said to the mountaines and rocks, Fal on vs, and hide vs from the presence of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lambe.

⁶ Therefore in those dayes shall men seeke death, and shall not finde it, and shall desire to die, and death shall flie from them.

⁴ And the woman was arayed in purple and skarlet, and gilded with golde, and precious stones, and pearles, and had a cup of gold in her hand, full of abominations, and filthines of her fornication.

¹² The ware of golde, and siluer, and of precious stone, and of pearles, and of fine linnen, and of purple, and of silke, and of skarlet, and of all maner of Thyne wood, and of all vessels of yuorie, and of all vessels of most precious wood, and of brasse, and of yron, and of marble,

¹⁶ And saying, Alas, alas, that great citie, that was clothed in fine linnen and purple, and skarlet, and gilded with gold, and precious stones, and pearles.

¹⁹ And I sawe the beast, and the Kings of the earth, and their hostes gathered together to make battell against him that sate on the horse, and against his armie. ²⁰ But ye beast was taken, and with him that false prophet that wrought miracles before him, whereby he deceiued them that receiued ye beastes marke, and them that worshipped his image. These both were aliue cast into a lake of fire, burning with brimstone. ²¹ And the remnant were slayne with the sword of him that sitteth vpon the horse, which commeth out of his mouth, and all the foules were filled full with their flesh.
