¹ And he began to speake vnto them in parables, A certaine man planted a vineyard, and copassed it with an hedge, and digged a pit for the winepresse, and built a tower in it, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a strange countrey. ² And at the time, he sent to the husbandmen a seruant, that he might receiue of the husbandmen of the fruite of the vineyard. ³ But they tooke him, and beat him, and sent him away emptie. ⁴ And againe he sent vnto them another seruant, and at him they cast stones, and brake his head, and sent him away shamefully handled. ⁵ And againe he sent another, and him they slew, and many other, beating some, and killing some. ⁶ Yet had he one sonne, his deare beloued: him also he sent the last vnto them, saying, They will reuerence my sonne. ⁷ But ye husbandmen said among themselues, This is the heire: come, let vs kill him, and the inheritance shalbe ours. ⁸ So they tooke him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. ⁹ What shall then the Lord of the vineyard doe? He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and giue the vineyard to others. ¹⁰ Haue ye not read so much as this Scripture? The stone which the builders did refuse, is made the head of the corner. ¹¹ This was done of the Lord, and it is marueilous in our eyes. ¹² Then they went about to take him, but they feared the people: for they perceiued that he spake that parable against them: therefore they left him, and went their way. ¹³ And they sent vnto him certaine of the Pharises, and of ye Herodians that they might take him in his talke. ¹⁴ And when they came, they saide vnto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou considerest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God truely, Is it lawfull to giue tribute to Cesar, or not? ¹⁵ Should we giue it, or should we not giue it? but he knew their hypocrisie, and said vnto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a peny, that I may see it. ¹⁶ So they brought it, and he said vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? and they said vnto him, Cesars. ¹⁷ Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto them, Giue to Cesar the things that are Cesars, and to God, those that are Gods: and they marueiled at him. ¹⁸ Then came the Sadduces vnto him, (which say, there is no resurrection) and they asked him, saying, ¹⁹ Master, Moses wrote vnto vs, If any mans brother die, and leaue his wife, and leaue no children, that his brother should take his wife, and rayse vp seede vnto his brother. ²⁰ There were seuen brethren, and the first tooke a wife, and when he died, left no issue. ²¹ Then the seconde tooke her, and he died, neither did he yet leaue issue, and the third likewise: ²² So those seuen had her, and left no yssue: last of all the wife died also. ²³ In the resurrection then, when they shall rise againe, whose wife shall she be of them? for seuen had her to wife. ²⁴ Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto them, Are ye not therefore deceiued, because ye knowe not the Scriptures, neither the power of God? ²⁵ For when they shall rise againe from the dead, neither men marry, nor wiues are married, but are as the Angels which are in heauen. ²⁶ And as touching the dead, that they shall rise againe, haue ye not read in the booke of Moses, howe in the bush God spake vnto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob? ²⁷ God is not ye God of the dead, but the God of the liuing. Ye are therefore greatly deceiued. ²⁸ Then came one of the Scribes that had heard them disputing together, and perceiuing that he had answered them well, he asked him, Which is the first commandement of all? ²⁹ Iesus answered him, The first of all the commandements is, Heare, Israel, The Lord our God is the onely Lord. ³⁰ Thou shalt therefore loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy minde, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandement. ³¹ And the second is like, that is, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe. There is none other commandement greater then these. ³² Then that Scribe said vnto him, Well, Master, thou hast saide the trueth, that there is one God, and that there is none but he, ³³ And to loue him with all the heart, and with all the vnderstanding, and with all the soule, and with all the strength, and to loue his neighbour as himselfe, is more then all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. ³⁴ Then when Iesus saw that he answered discreetely, he saide vnto him, Thou art not farre from the kingdome of God. And no man after that durst aske him any question. ³⁵ And Iesus answered and said teaching in the Temple, Howe say the Scribes that Christ is the sonne of Dauid? ³⁶ For Dauid himselfe said by ye holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footestoole. ³⁷ Then Dauid himselfe calleth him Lord: by what meanes is he then his sonne? and much people heard him gladly. ³⁸ Moreouer he saide vnto them in his doctrine, Beware of the Scribes which loue to goe in long robes, and loue salutations in the markets, ³⁹ And the chiefe seates in the Synagogues, and the first roumes at feastes, ⁴⁰ Which deuoure widowes houses, euen vnder a colour of long prayers. These shall receiue the greater damnation. ⁴¹ And as Iesus sate ouer against the treasurie, he beheld how the people cast money into the treasurie, and many rich men cast in much. ⁴² And there came a certaine poore widowe, and she threw in two mites, which make a quadrin. ⁴³ Then he called vnto him his disciples, and said vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, that this poore widowe hath cast more in, then all they which haue cast into the treasurie. ⁴⁴ For they all did cast in of their superfluitie: but she of her pouertie did cast in all that she had, euen all her liuing.

¹³ Thou camest downe also vpon mount Sinai, and spakest vnto them from heauen, and gauest them right iudgements, and true lawes, ordinances and good commandements, ¹⁴ And declaredst vnto them thine holy Sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, and ordinances, and lawes, by the hande of Moses thy seruant:

⁶⁸ But chose the tribe of Iudah, and mount Zion which he loued. ⁶⁹ And he built his Sanctuarie as an high palace, like the earth, which he stablished for euer.

⁸ Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it. ⁹ Thou madest roume for it, and didest cause it to take roote, and it filled the land. ¹⁰ The mountaines were couered with the shadowe of it, and the boughes thereof were like the goodly cedars. ¹¹ Shee stretched out her branches vnto the Sea, and her boughes vnto the Riuer. ¹² Why hast thou then broken downe her hedges, so that all they, which passe by the way, haue plucked her? ¹³ The wilde bore out of the wood hath destroyed it, and the wilde beastes of the fielde haue eaten it vp. ¹⁴ Returne we beseech thee, O God of hostes: looke downe from heauen and beholde and visite this vine, ¹⁵ And the vineyard, that thy right hand hath planted, and the young vine, which thou madest strong for thy selfe. ¹⁶ It is burnt with fire and cut downe: and they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

¹⁹ He sheweth his word vnto Iaakob, his statutes and his iudgements vnto Israel. ²⁰ He hath not dealt so with euery nation, neither haue they knowen his iudgements. Prayse ye the Lord.

¹¹ Salomon had a vine in Baal-hamon: hee gaue the vineyarde vnto keepers: euery one bringeth for ye fruite thereof a thousand pieces of siluer. ¹² But my vineyarde which is mine, is before me: to thee, O Salomon appertaineth a thousand pieces of siluer, and two hundreth to them that keepe the fruite thereof.

¹ Now will I sing to my beloued a song of my beloued to his vineyarde, My beloued had a vineyarde in a very fruitefull hill, ² And hee hedged it, and gathered out the stones of it, and he planted it with the best plants, and hee builte a towre in the middes thereof, and made a wine presse therein: then hee looked that it should bring foorth grapes: but it brought foorth wilde grapes. ³ Now therefore, O inhabitants of Ierusalem and men of Iudah, iudge, I pray you, betweene me, and my vineyarde. ⁴ What coulde I haue done any more to my vineyard that I haue not done vnto it? why haue I looked that it should bring foorth grapes, and it bringeth foorth wilde grapes?

²³ And at the same day euery place, wherein shalbe a thousand vines, shalbe at a thousand pieces of siluer: so it shalbe for the briers and for the thornes.

²¹ Yet I had planted thee, a noble vine, whose plants were all natural: howe then art thou turned vnto me into the plants of a strange vine?

¹¹ And I gaue them my statutes, and declared my iudgements vnto them, which if a man doe, he shall liue in them. ¹² Moreouer I gaue them also my Sabbaths to be a signe betweene me and them, that they might knowe that I am the Lord, that sanctifie them.

¹⁸ But I said vnto their children in the wildernes, Walke ye not in the ordinances of your fathers, neither obserue their maners, nor defile your selues with their idoles. ¹⁹ I am the Lord your God: walke in my statutes, and keepe my iudgements and doe them, ²⁰ And sanctifie my Sabbaths, and they shall bee a signe betweene mee and you, that ye may knowe that I am the Lord your God.

¹⁰ Then the disciples came, and said to him, Why speakest thou to them in parables? ¹¹ And he answered, and said vnto them, Because it is giuen vnto you, to know the secretes of the kingdome of heauen, but to the it is not giue. ¹² For whosoeuer hath, to him shalbe giuen, and he shall haue abundance: but whosoeuer hath not, from him shalbe taken away, euen that he hath. ¹³ Therefore speake I to them in parables, because they seeing, doe not see: and hearing, they heare not, neither vnderstand. ¹⁴ So in them is fulfilled the prophecie of Esaias, which prophecie saieth, By hearing, ye shall heare, and shall not vnderstand, and seeing, ye shall see, and shall not perceiue. ¹⁵ For this peoples heart is waxed fat, and their eares are dull of hearing, and with their eyes they haue winked, lest they should see with their eyes, and heare with their eares, and should vnderstand with their hearts, and should returne, that I might heale them.

³⁴ All these thinges spake Iesus vnto the multitude in parables, and without parables spake he not to them, ³⁵ That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables, and will vtter the thinges which haue beene kept secrete from the foundation of the worlde.

²⁸ But what thinke ye? A certaine man had two sonnes, and came to the elder, and saide, Sonne, goe and worke to day in my vineyarde.

¹⁴ For the kingdome of heauen is as a man that going into a strange countrey, called his seruants, and deliuered to them his goods.

² And he taught them many things in parables, and said vnto them in his doctrine,

¹¹ And he saide vnto them, To you it is giuen to knowe the mysterie of the kingdome of God: but vnto them that are without, all thinges bee done in parables, ¹² That they seeing, may see, and not discerne: and they hearing, may heare, and not vnderstand, least at any time they should turne, and their sinnes should be forgiuen them. ¹³ Againe he said vnto them, Perceiue ye not this parable? howe then should ye vnderstand all other parables?

³³ And with many such parables he preached the word vnto them, as they were able to heare it. ³⁴ And without parables spake hee nothing vnto them: but he expounded all thinges to his disciples apart.

¹⁰ And he sayd, Vnto you it is giuen to know the secrets of ye kingdome of God, but to other in parables, that when they see, they shoulde not see, and when they heare, they should not vnderstand.

⁶ He spake also this parable, A certaine man had a figge tree planted in his vineyard: and he came and sought fruite thereon, and found none. ⁷ Then said he to the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, this three yeeres haue I come and sought fruite of this figge tree, and finde none: cut it downe: why keepeth it also the ground barren? ⁸ And he answered, and said vnto him, Lord, let it alone this yeere also, till I digge round about it, and doung it. ⁹ And if it beare fruite, well: if not, then after thou shalt cut it downe.

¹³ So not many daies after, when the yonger sonne had gathered all together, hee tooke his iourney into a farre countrey, and there hee wasted his goods with riotous liuing.

¹² He saide therefore, A certaine noble man went into a farre countrey, to receiue for himselfe a kingdome, and so to come againe.

⁹ Then began he to speake to ye people this parable, A certaine man planted a vineyarde, and let it forth to husbandmen: and went into a strange countrey, for a great time. ¹⁰ And at the time conuenient he sent a seruant to the husbandmen, that they should giue him of the fruite of the vineyard: but the husbandmen did beate him, and sent him away emptie. ¹¹ Againe he sent yet another seruant: and they did beate him, and foule entreated him, and sent him away emptie. ¹² Moreouer he sent the third, and him they wounded, and cast out. ¹³ Then sayd the Lord of the vineyard, What shall I doe? I will send my beloued sonne: it may be that they will doe reuerence, when they see him. ¹⁴ But when the husbandmen sawe him, they reasoned with themselues, saying, This is the heire: come, let vs kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. ¹⁵ So they cast him out of the vineyarde, and killed him. What shall the Lord of the vineyarde therefore doe vnto them? ¹⁶ He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and wil giue out his vineyard to others. But when they heard it, they sayd, God forbid. ¹⁷ And he beheld them, and said, What meaneth this then that is written, The stone that the builders refused, that is made the head of the corner? ¹⁸ Whosoeuer shall fall vpon that stone, shall be broken: and on whomsoeuer it shall fall, it will grinde him to pouder. ¹⁹ Then the hie Priests, and the Scribes the same houre went about to lay hands on him: (but they feared the people) for they perceiued that he had spoken this parable against them.

⁹ And they saide to him, Where wilt thou, that we prepare it?

¹ I Am that true vine, and my Father is that husband man. ² Euery branch that beareth not fruite in me, he taketh away: and euery one that beareth fruite, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruite. ³ Nowe are ye cleane through the worde, which I haue spoken vnto you. ⁴ Abide in me, and I in you: as the branche cannot beare fruite of it selfe, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in me. ⁵ I am that vine: ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruite: for without me can ye doe nothing. ⁶ If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branche, and withereth: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they burne. ⁷ If ye abide in me, and my wordes abide in you, aske what ye wil, and it shalbe done to you. ⁸ Herein is my Father glorified, that ye beare much fruite, and be made my disciples.

³⁸ This is he that was in the Congregation, in the wildernes with the Angell, which spake to him in mount Sina, and with our fathers, who receiued the liuely oracles to giue vnto vs.

⁴⁶ Who found fauour before God, and desired that hee might finde a tabernacle for the God of Iacob. ⁴⁷ But Salomon built him an house.

¹ What is then the preferment of the Iewe? or what is the profite of circumcision? ² Much euery maner of way: for chiefly, because vnto them were of credite committed the oracles of God.

⁴ Which are the Israelites, to whome perteineth the adoption, and the glory, and the Couenants, and the giuing of the Lawe, and the seruice of God, and the promises. ⁵ Of whome are the fathers, and of whome concerning the flesh, Christ came, who is God ouer all, blessed for euer, Amen.

¹⁷ And though some of the branches be broken off, and thou being a wilde Oliue tree, wast graft in for them, and made partaker of the roote, and fatnesse of the Oliue tree. ¹⁸ Boast not thy selfe against the branches: and if thou boast thy selfe, thou bearest not the roote, but the roote thee. ¹⁹ Thou wilt say then, The branches are broken off, that I might be graft in. ²⁰ Well: through vnbeliefe they are broken off, and thou standest by faith: bee not hie minded, but feare. ²¹ For if God spared not the naturall branches, take heede, least he also spare not thee. ²² Beholde therefore the bountifulnesse, and seueritie of God: towarde them which haue fallen, seueritie: but toward thee, bountifulnesse, if thou continue in his bountifulnesse: or els thou shalt also be cut off. ²³ And they also, if they abide not still in vnbeliefe, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graffe them in againe. ²⁴ For if thou wast cut out of the Oliue tree, which was wilde by nature, and wast graffed contrary to nature in a right Oliue tree, how much more shall they that are by nature, bee graffed in their owne Oliue tree?

⁸ The Lord sent vnto the children of Israel a Prophet, who sayd vuto them, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, I haue brought you vp from Egypt, and haue brought you out of the house of bondage, ⁹ And I haue deliuered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and haue cast them out before you, and giuen you their land. ¹⁰ And I sayde vnto you, I am the Lord your God: feare not the gods of the Amorites in whose lande you dwell: but ye haue not obeyed my voyce.

¹³ Notwithstanding the Lord testified to Israel, and to Iudah by all the Prophets, and by all the Seers, saying, Turne from your euill wayes, and keepe my commandements and my statutes, according to all the Lawe, which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my seruants the Prophets.

¹⁵ Therefore the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising earely and sending: for he had compassion on his people, and on his habitation.

¹¹ Which thou hast commanded by thy seruants the Prophets, saying, The land whereunto ye go to possesse it, is an vncleane land, because of the filthines of the people of the lands, which by their abominations, and by their vncleannes haue filled it from corner to corner.

³ For he shall be like a tree planted by the riuers of waters, that will bring foorth her fruite in due season: whose leafe shall not fade: so whatsoeuer he shall doe, shall prosper.

⁴ And the Lord hath sent vnto you all his seruantes the Prophets, rising early and sending them, but yee would not heare, nor encline your eares to obey. ⁵ They sayde, Turne againe now euery one from his euill way, and from the wickednes of your inuentions, and ye shall dwell in the lande that the Lord hath giuen vnto you, and to your fathers for euer and euer.

¹⁵ I haue sent also vnto you all my seruants the Prophetes, rising vp earely, and sending, them, saying, Returne nowe euery man from his euill way, and amende your workes, and goe not after other gods to serue them, and ye shall dwel in the lande which I haue giuen vnto you, and to your fathers, but ye would not encline your eare, nor obey mee.

⁴ Howbeit I sent vnto you all my seruats the Prophets rising earely, and sending them, saying, Oh doe not this abominable thing that I hate.

¹ Woe is me, for I am as the sommer gatherings, and as the grapes of the vintage: there is no cluster to eate: my soule desired the first ripe fruites.

³ Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne ye vnto me, saith the Lord of hostes, and I will turne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes. ⁴ Be ye not as your fathers, vnto whome the former prophets haue cried, saying, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne you nowe from your euill wayes, and from your wicked workes: but they would not heare, nor hearken vnto me, saith the Lord. ⁵ your fathers, where are they? and doe the Prophets liue for euer? ⁶ But did not my wordes and my statutes, which I commanded by my seruants ye Prophets, take holde of your fathers? and they returned, and sayd, As the Lord of hostes hath determined to doe vnto vs, according to our owne wayes, and according to our workes, so hath hee dealt with vs.

⁷ Should ye not heare the wordes, which the Lord hath cryed by the ministerie of the former Prophets when Ierusalem was inhabited, and in prosperitie, and the cities thereof round about her, when the South and the plaine was inhabited?

³⁴ And when the time of the fruite drewe neere, hee sent his seruants to the husbandmen to receiue the fruites thereof.

⁴⁸ But he that knewe it not, and yet did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with fewe stripes: for vnto whomsoeuer much is giuen, of him shalbe much required, and to whom men much commit, the more of him will they aske.

¹⁰ And at the time conuenient he sent a seruant to the husbandmen, that they should giue him of the fruite of the vineyard: but the husbandmen did beate him, and sent him away emptie.

¹ At sundry times and in diuers maners God spake in the olde time to our fathers by the Prophetes: in these last dayes hee hath spoken vnto vs by his Sonne,

⁴ For when Iezebel destroyed the Prophets of the Lord, Obadiah tooke an hundreth Prophets, and hid them, by fiftie in a caue, and he fed them with bread and water.)

¹³ Was it not tolde my lord, what I did when Iezebel slew the Prophets of the Lord, how I hid an hundreth men of the Lordes Prophets by fifties in a caue, and fed them with bread and water?

¹⁰ And he answered, I haue bene very ielous for the Lord God of hostes: for the children of Israel haue forsaken thy couenant, broken downe thine altars, and slayne thy Prophets with the sword, and I onely am left, and they seeke my life to take it away.

¹⁰ Then Asa was wroth with the Seer, and put him into a prison: for he was displeased with him, because of this thing. And Asa oppressed certaine of the people at the same time.

¹⁹ And God sent Prophets amog the, to bring them againe vnto the Lord: and they made protestation among them, but they would not heare. ²⁰ And the Spirit of God came vpon Zechariah the sonne of Iehoiada the Priest, which stoode aboue the people, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth God, Why transgresse ye the commandements of the Lord? surely ye shall not prosper: because ye haue forsaken the Lord, he also hath forsaken you. ²¹ Then they conspired against him and stoned him with stones at the commandement of the King, in the court of the house of the Lord.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his wordes, and misused his Prophets, vntill the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, and till there was no remedie.

²⁶ Yet they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy Lawe behinde their backes, and slewe thy Prophets (which protested among them to turne them vnto thee) and committed great blasphemies.

³⁰ I haue smitten your children in vaine, they receiued no correction: your owne sworde hath deuoured your Prophets like a destroying lyon.

² Then Pashur smote Ieremiah the Prophet, and put him in the stockes that were in the hie gate of Beniamin which was by the House of the Lord.

²⁰ And there was also a man that prophecied in the Name of the Lord, one Vriiah the sonne of Shemaiah, of Kiriath-iarem, who prophecied against this citie, and against this lande, according to all the wordes of Ieremiah. ²¹ Nowe when Iehoiakim the King with all his men of power, and all the princes heard his wordes, the King sought to slay him. But when Vriiah heard it, he was afraide and fled, and went into Egypt. ²² Then Iehoiakim the King sent men into Egypt, euen Elnathan the sonne of Achbor, and certaine with him into Egypt. ²³ And they fet Vriiah out of Egypt, and brought him vnto Iehoiakim the King, who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead bodie into the graues of the children of the people. ²⁴ But the hande of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan was with Ieremiah that they shoulde not giue him into the hande of the people to put him to death.

²⁶ The Lord hath made thee Priest for Iehoiada the Priest, that yee should bee officers in the House of the Lord, for euery man that raueth and maketh himselfe a Prophet, to put him in prison and in the stockes.

¹⁵ Wherefore the princes were angry with Ieremiah, and smote him, and layde him in prison in the house of Iehonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison. ¹⁶ When Ieremiah was entred into the dungeon, and into the prisons, and had remained there a long time,

⁴ Therefore the Princes sayd vnto the King, We beseech you, let this man be put to death: for thus hee weakeneth the hands of the men of warre that remaine in this citie, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such wordes vnto them: for this man seeketh not the wealth of this people, but the hurt. ⁵ Then Zedekiah the King sayd, Behold, he is in your hands, for ye King can denie you nothing. ⁶ Then tooke they Ieremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the sonne of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let downe Ieremiah with coards: and in the dungeon there was no water but myre: so Ieremiah stacke fast in the myre.

⁴ Howbeit I sent vnto you all my seruats the Prophets rising earely, and sending them, saying, Oh doe not this abominable thing that I hate. ⁵ But they would not heare nor incline their eare to turne from their wickednes, and to burne no more incense vnto other gods.

¹⁶ The worde that thou hast spoken vnto vs in the Name of the Lord, wee will not heare it of thee,

¹⁰ For we haue not obeyed the voyce of the Lord our God, to walke in his lawes, which he had laide before vs by the ministerie of his seruants the Prophets. ¹¹ Yea, all Israel haue transgressed thy Lawe, and are turned backe, and haue not heard thy voyce: therefore the curse is powred vpon vs, and the othe that is written in the Lawe of Moses the seruant of God, because we haue sinned against him.

⁹ Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, saying, Execute true iudgement, and shewe mercy and compassion, euery man to his brother, ¹⁰ And oppresse not the widowe, nor the fatherles, the stranger nor the poore, and let none of you imagine euil against his brother in your heart. ¹¹ But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their eares, that they should not heare. ¹² Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, least they should heare the Lawe and the wordes which the Lord of hostes sent in his spirit by the ministerie of ye former Prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hostes. ¹³ Therefore it is come to passe, that as he cried, and they would not heare, so they cried, and I would not heare, sayth the Lord of hostes.

³⁴ Wherefore beholde, I send vnto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucifie: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from citie to citie, ³⁵ That vpon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed vpon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, vnto the blood of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whome ye slewe betweene the Temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verely I say vnto you, all these things shall come vpon this generation. ³⁷ Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her chickins vnder her wings, and ye would not!

⁴⁷ Wo be to you: for ye builde the sepulchres of the Prophetes, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Truely ye beare witnesse, and allowe the deedes of your fathers: for they killed them, and yee build their sepulchres. ⁴⁹ Therefore said the wisedome of God, I wil sende them Prophets and Apostles, and of them they shall slaie, and persecute away, ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the Prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, ⁵¹ From the blood of Abel vnto the blood of Zacharias, which was slaine betweene the altar and the Temple: verely I say vnto you, it shall be required of this generation.

³³ Neuerthelesse I must walke to day, and to morowe, and the day following: for it cannot be that a Prophet should perish out of Hierusalem. ³⁴ O Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them that are sent to thee, howe often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her brood vnder her wings, and ye would not!

¹⁰ And at the time conuenient he sent a seruant to the husbandmen, that they should giue him of the fruite of the vineyard: but the husbandmen did beate him, and sent him away emptie. ¹¹ Againe he sent yet another seruant: and they did beate him, and foule entreated him, and sent him away emptie. ¹² Moreouer he sent the third, and him they wounded, and cast out.

⁵² Which of the Prophets haue not your fathers persecuted? and they haue slaine them, which shewed before of the comming of that Iust, of whome ye are now the betrayers and murtherers,

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Iesus and their owne Prophets, and haue persecuted vs away, and God they please not, and are contrary to all men,

³⁶ And others haue bene tryed by mockings and scourgings, yea, moreouer by bondes and prisonment. ³⁷ They were stoned, they were hewen asunder, they were tempted, they were slaine with the sworde, they wandred vp and downe in sheepes skinnes, and in goates skinnes, being destitute, afflicted, and tormented:

³⁰ Yet thou diddest forbeare them many yeeres, and protestedst among them by thy Spirite, euen by the hande of thy Prophets, but they woulde not heare: therefore gauest thou them into the hande of the people of the lands.

²⁵ Since the day that your fathers came vp out of the lande of Egypt, vnto this day, I haue euen sent vnto you al my seruants the Prophets, rising vp earely euery day, and sending them. ²⁶ Yet would they not heare me nor encline their eare, but hardened their necke and did worse then their fathers. ²⁷ Therefore shalt thou speake al these words vnto them, but they will not heare thee: thou shalt also crie vnto them, but they will not answere thee. ²⁸ But thou shalt say vnto them, This is a nation that heareth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiueth discipline: trueth is perished, and is cleane gone out of their mouth.

¹² Reioyce and be glad, for great is your reward in heauen: for so persecuted they the Prophets which were before you.

³⁵ And ye husbandmen tooke his seruants and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ Againe hee sent other seruants, moe then the first: and they did the like vnto them.

⁶ And the remnant tooke his seruants, and intreated them sharpely, and slewe them.

³⁷ Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her chickins vnder her wings, and ye would not!

¹³ But I say vnto you, that Elias is come, (and they haue done vnto him whatsoeuer they would) as it is written of him.

²² Blessed are ye when men hate you, and when they separate you, and reuile you, and put out your name as euill, for the Sonne of mans sake. ²³ Reioyce ye in that day, and be glad: for beholde, your reward is great in heauen: for after this maner their fathers did to the Prophets.

³⁶ Be ye therefore mercifull, as your Father also is mercifull.

² And he said, Take nowe thine onely sonne Izhak whom thou louest, and get thee vnto the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering vpon one of the mountaines, which I will shewe thee.

¹² Then he said, Lay not thine hand vpon the childe, neither doe any thing vnto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing for my sake thou hast not spared thine onely sonne.

³ Nowe Israel loued Ioseph more then all his sonnes, because he begate him in his old age, and he made him a coat of many colours.

¹¹ And his brethren enuied him, but his father noted the saying. ¹² Then his brethren went to keepe their fathers sheepe in Shechem. ¹³ And Israel said vnto Ioseph, Doe not thy brethren keepe in Shechem? come and I will send thee to them.

²⁰ And we answered my Lord, We haue a father that is olde, and a young childe, which he begate in his age: and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loueth him.

⁷ I will declare the decree: that is, the Lord hath said vnto me, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee.

¹² Kisse the sonne, least he be angry, and ye perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burne. blessed are all that trust in him.

¹ Behold, my seruaunt: I will stay vpon him: mine elect, in whom my soule deliteth: I haue put my Spirit vpon him: he shall bring forth iudgement to the Gentiles.

²³ Behold, a virgine shalbe with childe, and shall beare a sonne, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is by interpretation, God with vs.

¹⁷ And loe, a voyce came from heauen, saying, This is my beloued Sonne, in whome I am well pleased.

²⁷ All things are giuen vnto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Sonne, but ye Father: neither knoweth any man ye Father, but the Sonne, and he to whom ye Sonne will reueile him.

⁵ While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloude shadowed them: and beholde, there came a voyce out of the cloude, saying, This is that my beloued Sonne, in whom I am well pleased: heare him.

⁶³ But Iesus helde his peace. Then the chiefe Priest answered, and saide to him, I charge thee sweare vnto vs by the liuing God, to tell vs, If thou be that Christ the Sonne of God, or no.

¹¹ Then there was a voyce from heauen, saying, Thou art my beloued Sonne, in whome I am well pleased.

⁷ And there was a cloude that shadowed them, and a voyce came out of the cloude, saying, This is my beloued Sonne: heare him.

²² And the holy Ghost came downe in a bodily shape like a doue, vpon him, and there was a voyce from heauen, saying, Thou art my beloued Sonne: in thee I am well pleased.

³⁵ And there came a voyce out of the cloud, saying, This is that my beloued Sonne, heare him.

¹⁴ And that Word was made flesh, and dwelt among vs, (and we sawe the glorie thereof, as the glorie of the onely begotten Sonne of the Father) full of grace and trueth.

¹⁸ No man hath seene God at any time: that onely begotten Sonne, which is in the bosome of the Father, he hath declared him.

³⁴ And I sawe, and bare record that this is that Sonne of God.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered, and saide vnto him, Rabbi, thou art that Sonne of God: thou art that King of Israel.

¹⁶ For God so loued the worlde, that hee hath giuen his onely begotten Sonne, that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life. ¹⁷ For God sent not his Sonne into the world, that he should condemne the world, but that the world through him might be saued. ¹⁸ Hee that beleeueth in him, is not condemned: but hee that beleeueth not, is condemned already, because he hath not beleeued in the Name of that onely begotten Sonne of God.

³⁵ The Father loueth the Sonne, and hath giuen all things into his hande.

²³ Because that all men shoulde honour the Sonne, as they honour the Father: he that honoureth not the Sonne, the same honoureth not the Father, which hath sent him.

¹ At sundry times and in diuers maners God spake in the olde time to our fathers by the Prophetes: in these last dayes hee hath spoken vnto vs by his Sonne, ² Whom he hath made heire of al things, by whome also he made the worldes,

⁶ And againe, when he bringeth in his first begotten Sonne into the worlde, hee saith, And let all the Angels of God worship him.

⁹ Herein was that loue of God made manifest amongst vs, because God sent that his onely begotten sonne into this world, that we might liue through him.

¹¹ And this is that record, to wit, that God hath giuen vnto vs eternall life, and this life is in that his Sonne. ¹² He that hath that Sonne, hath that life: and he that hath not that Sonne of God, hath not that life.

⁹ And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthie to take the Booke, and to open the seales thereof, because thou wast killed, and hast redeemed vs to God by thy blood out of euery kinred, and tongue, and people, and nation, ¹⁰ And hast made vs vnto our God Kings and Priests, and we shall reigne on the earth. ¹¹ Then I behelde, and I heard the voice of many Angels round about the throne, and about the beastes and the Elders, and there were ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousand thousands, ¹² Saying with a loude voice, Worthie is the Lambe that was killed to receiue power, and riches, and wisdome, and strength, and honour, and glory, and praise. ¹³ And al the creatures which are in heauen, and on the earth, and vnder the earth, and in the sea, and al that are in them, heard I, saying, Praise, and honour, and glory, and power be vnto him, that sitteth vpon the throne, and vnto the Lambe for euermore.

¹⁵ I will also put enimitie betweene thee and the woman, and betweene thy seede and her seede. He shall breake thine head, and thou shalt bruise his heele.

²⁰ Come now therefore, and let vs slay him, and cast him into some pitte, and wee will say, A wicked beast hath deuoured him: then wee shall see, what will come of his dreames.

² The Kings of the earth band themselues, and the princes are assembled together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ³ Let vs breake their bands, and cast their cordes from vs.

¹² Many yong bulles haue compassed me: mightie bulles of Bashan haue closed me about. ¹³ They gape vpon me with their mouthes, as a ramping and roaring lyon. ¹⁴ I am like water powred out, and all my bones are out of ioynt: mine heart is like waxe: it is molten in the middes of my bowels. ¹⁵ My strength is dryed vp like a potsheard, and my tongue cleaueth to my iawes, and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

⁷ Thus sayeth the Lord the redeemer of Israel, and his Holie one, to him that is despised in soule, to a nation that is abhorred, to a seruaunt of rulers, Kinges shall see, and arise, and princes shall worship, because of the Lord, that is faithfull: and ye Holy one of Israel, which hath chosen thee.

⁷ Hee was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet did he not open his mouth: hee is brought as a sheepe to the slaughter, and as a sheepe before her shearer is dumme, so he openeth not his mouth. ⁸ Hee was taken out from prison, and from iudgement: and who shall declare his age? for he was cut out of the lande of the liuing: for the transgression of my people was he plagued.

³ When King Herod heard this, he was troubled, and all Hierusalem with him. ⁴ And gathering together all the chiefe Priestes and Scribes of the people, hee asked of them, where Christ should be borne. ⁵ And they saide vnto him, At Beth-leem in Iudea: for so it is written by the Prophet, ⁶ And thou Beth-leem in the lande of Iuda, art not the least among the Princes of Iuda: For out of thee shall come the gouernour that shall feede that my people Israel. ⁷ Then Herod priuily called the Wisemen, and diligently inquired of them the time of the starre that appeared, ⁸ And sent them to Beth-leem, saying, Goe, and searche diligently for the babe: and when ye haue founde him, bring mee worde againe, that I may come also, and worship him. ⁹ So when they had heard the King, they departed: and loe, the starre which they had seene in the East, went before them, till it came and stoode ouer the place where the babe was. ¹⁰ And when they sawe the starre, they reioyced with an exceeding great ioy, ¹¹ And went into the house, and founde the babe with Mary his mother, and fell downe, and worshipped him, and opened their treasures, and presented vnto him giftes, euen golde, and frankincense, and myrrhe. ¹² And after they were warned of God in a dreame, that they should not go againe to Herod, they returned into their countrey another way. ¹³ After their departure, behold, the Angel of the Lord appeareth to Ioseph in a dreame, saying, Arise, and take the babe and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there til I bring thee word: for Herod will seeke the babe, to destroy him.

¹⁶ Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the Wisemen, was exceeding wroth, and sent foorth, and slew all the male children that were in Beth-leem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two yeere old and vnder, according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the Wisemen.

¹² Then they went about to take him, but they feared the people: for they perceiued that he spake that parable against them: therefore they left him, and went their way.

⁴⁷ Then gathered the hie Priests, and the Pharises a councill, and said, What shall we doe? For this man doeth many miracles. ⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, all men will beleeue in him, and the Romanes will come and take away both our place, and the nation. ⁴⁹ Then one of them named Caiaphas, which was the hie Priest that same yere, said vnto them, Ye perceiue nothing at all, ⁵⁰ Nor yet doe you consider that it is expedient for vs, that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

²³ Him, I say, being deliuered by the determinate counsell, and foreknowledge of God, after you had taken, with wicked handes you haue crucified and slaine.

²⁸ Saying, Did not we straightly commaund you, that ye should not teach in this Name? and behold, ye haue filled Hierusale with your doctrine, and ye would bring this mans blood vpon vs.

²⁷ For the inhabitants of Hierusalem, and their rulers, because they knewe him not, nor yet the woordes of the Prophets, which are read euery Sabbath day, they haue fulfilled them in condemning him. ²⁸ And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate to kill him.

³³ Heare another parable, There was a certaine housholder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and made a winepresse therein, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a strange countrey.

³⁹ So they tooke him, and cast him out of the vineyarde, and slewe him.

¹⁵ So they cast him out of the vineyarde, and killed him. What shall the Lord of the vineyarde therefore doe vnto them?

¹¹ For the bodies of those beastes whose blood is brought into the Holy place by the high Priest for sinne, are burnt without the campe. ¹² Therefore euen Iesus, that he might sanctifie the people with his owne blood, suffered without the gate. ¹³ Let vs goe foorth to him therefore out of the campe, bearing his reproch.

¹⁵ And if ye shall despise mine ordinances, either if your soule abhorre my lawes, so that yee will not do all my commandements, but breake my couenant, ¹⁶ Then wil I also do this vnto you, I wil appoint ouer you fearefulnes, a consumption, and the burning ague to consume the eyes, and make the heart heauie, and you shall sowe your seede in vaine: for your enemies shall eate it: ¹⁷ And I will set my face against you, and ye shall fal before your enemies, and they that hate you, shall raigne ouer you, and yee shall flee when none pursueth you. ¹⁸ And if ye wil not for these things obey me, then wil I punish you seuen times more, according to your sinnes,

²³ Yet if by these ye will not be reformed by me, but walke stubburnly against me, ²⁴ Then wil I also walke stubburnly against you, and I will smite you yet seuen times for your sinnes:

²⁷ Yet if ye will not for this obey mee, but walke against me stubburnly, ²⁸ Then will I walke stubburnly in mine anger against you, and I will also chastice you seuen times more according to your sinnes.

²⁶ I call heauen and earth to record against you this day, that ye shall shortly perish from the land, whereunto ye goe ouer Iorden to possesse it: ye shall not prolong your dayes therein, but shall vtterly be destroyed. ²⁷ And the Lord shall scatter you among the people, and ye shall be left few in nomber among the nations, whither the Lord shall bring you:

¹⁵ But if thou wilt not obey the voyce of the Lord thy God, to keepe and to do all his commandementes and his ordinances, which I command thee this day, then al these curses shall come vpon thee, and ouertake thee. ¹⁶ Cursed shalt thou bee in the towne, and cursed also in the fielde. ¹⁷ Cursed shall thy basket be, and thy dough. ¹⁸ Cursed shall be the fruite of thy body, and the fruite of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flockes of thy sheepe. ¹⁹ Cursed shalt thou be when thou commest in, and cursed also when thou goest out. ²⁰ The Lord shall sende vpon thee cursing, trouble, and shame, in all that which thou settest thine hand to do, vntil thou be destroyed, and perish quickely, because of the wickednesse of thy workes whereby thou hast forsaken me. ²¹ The Lord shall make the pestilence cleaue vnto thee, vntill he hath consumed thee from the land, whither thou goest to possesse it. ²² The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with the feuer, and with a burning ague, and with feruent heate, and with the sworde, and with blasting, and with the mildew, and they shall pursue thee vntill thou perish. ²³ And thine heauen that is ouer thine head, shall be brasse, and the earth that is vnder thee, yron. ²⁴ The Lord shall giue thee for the rayne of thy land, dust and ashes: euen from heauen shall it come downe vpon thee, vntil thou be destroyed. ²⁵ And the Lord shall cause thee to fall before thine enemies: thou shalt come out one way against them, and shalt flee seuen wayes before them, and shalt be scattered through all the kingdomes of the earth. ²⁶ And thy carkeis shall be meate vnto all foules of the ayre, and vnto the beasts of the earth, and none shall fray them away. ²⁷ The Lord wil smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emeroids, and with the skab, and with the itche, that thou canst not be healed. ²⁸ And ye Lord shall smite thee with madnes, and with blindnes, and with astonying of heart. ²⁹ Thou shalt also grope at noone daies, as the blinde gropeth in darknes, and shalt not prosper in thy wayes: thou shalt neuer but bee oppressed with wrong and be powled euermore, and no man shall succour thee. ³⁰ Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lye with her: thou shalt builde an house, and shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not eate the fruite. ³¹ Thine oxe shalbe slayne before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eate thereof: thine asse shall be violently taken away before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheepe shalbe giuen vnto thine enemies, and no man shall rescue them for thee. ³² Thy sonnes and thy daughters shalbe giuen vnto another people, and thine eyes shall still looke for them, euen till they fall out, and there shalbe no power in thine hand. ³³ The fruite of thy land and all thy labours shall a people, which thou knowest not, eate, and thou shalt neuer but suffer wrong, and violence alway: ³⁴ So that thou shalt be madde for the sight which thine eyes shall see. ³⁵ The Lord shall smite thee in the knees, and in the thighes, with a sore botche, that thou canst not be healed: euen from the sole of thy foote vnto the top of thine head. ³⁶ The Lord shall bring thee and thy King (which thou shalt set ouer thee) vnto a nation, which neither thou nor thy fathers haue knowen, and there thou shalt serue other gods: euen wood and stone, ³⁷ And thou shalt be a wonder, a prouerbe and a common talke among all people, whither the Lord shall carie thee. ³⁸ Thou shalt carie out much seede into the fielde, and shalt gather but litle in: for the grashoppers shall destroy it. ³⁹ Thou shalt plant a vineyard, and dresse it, but shalt neither drinke of the wine, nor gather the grapes: for the wormes shall eate it. ⁴⁰ Thou shalt haue Oliue trees in all thy coastes, but shalt not anoynt thy selfe with the oyle: for thine oliues shall fall. ⁴¹ Thou shalt beget sonnes, and daughters, but shalt not haue them: for they shall goe into captiuitie. ⁴² All thy trees and fruite of thy land shall the grashopper consume. ⁴³ The straunger that is among you, shall clime aboue thee vp on hie, and thou shalt come downe beneath alow. ⁴⁴ He shall lend thee, and thou shalt not lend him: he shalbe the head, and thou shalt be ye tayle. ⁴⁵ Moreouer, all these curses shall come vpon thee, and shall pursue thee and ouertake thee, till thou be destroyed, because thou obeyedst not the voyce of the Lord thy God, to keepe his commandements, and his ordinances, which he commanded thee: ⁴⁶ And they shalbe vpon thee for signes and wonders, and vpon thy seede for euer, ⁴⁷ Because thou seruedst not the Lord thy God with ioyfulnesse and with a good heart for the abundance of all things. ⁴⁸ Therefore thou shalt serue thine enemies which the Lord shall send vpon thee, in hunger and in thirst, and in nakednesse, and in neede of all things? and he shall put a yoke of yron vpon thy necke vntill he haue destroyed thee. ⁴⁹ The Lord shall bring a nation vpon thee from farre, euen from the ende of the world, flying swift as an Egle: a nation whose tongue thou shalt not vnderstand: ⁵⁰ A nation of a fierce countenance, which will not regarde the person of the olde, nor haue compassion of the yong. ⁵¹ The same shall eate the fruit of thy cattell, and the fruite of thy land vntill thou be destroyed, and he shall leaue thee neyther wheate, wine, nor oyle, neither the increase of thy kyne, nor the flockes of thy sheepe, vntill he haue brought thee to nought. ⁵² And he shall besiege thee in all thy cities, vntill thine hie and strong walles fall downe, wherein thou trustedst in all the lande: and hee shall besiege thee in all thy cities throughout all thy lande, which the Lord thy God hath giuen thee. ⁵³ And thou shalt eate the fruite of thy bodie: euen the flesh of thy sonnes and thy daughters, which the Lord thy God hath giuen thee, during the siege and straitnesse wherein thine enemie shall inclose thee: ⁵⁴ So that the man (that is tender and exceeding deintie among you) shalbe grieued at his brother, and at his wife, that lieth in his bosome, and at the remnant of his children, which hee hath yet left, ⁵⁵ For feare of giuing vnto any of them of the flesh of his children, whom he shall eate, because he hath nothing left him in that siege, and straitnesse, wherewith thine enemie shall besiege thee in all thy cities. ⁵⁶ The tender and deintie woman among you, which neuer woulde venture to set the sole of her foote vpon the grounde (for her softnesse and tendernesse) shalbe grieued at her husband that lieth in her bosome, and at her sonne, and at her daughter, ⁵⁷ And at her afterbirth (that shall come out from betweene her feete) and at her childre, which she shall beare: for when all things lacke, she shall eate them secretly, during the siege and straitnesse, wherewith thine enemie shall besiege thee in thy cities. ⁵⁸ If thou wilt not keepe and doe all the wordes of the Lawe (that are written in this booke) and feare this glorious and feareful name The Lord Thy God, ⁵⁹ The the Lord wil make thy plagues wonderfull, and the plagues of thy seede, euen great plagues and of long continuance, and sore diseases, and of long durance. ⁶⁰ Moreouer, he will bring vpon thee all the diseases of Egypt, whereof thou wast afraide, and they shall cleaue vnto thee. ⁶¹ And euery sickenesse, and euery plague, which is not written in the booke of this Lawe, will the Lord heape vpon thee, vntill thou be destroyed. ⁶² And ye shall be left few in nomber, where ye were as the starres of heauen in multitude, because thou wouldest not obey the voyce of the Lord thy God. ⁶³ And as the Lord hath reioyced ouer you, to doe you good, and to multiply you, so he will reioyce ouer you, to destroy you, and bring you to nought, and ye shalbe rooted out of the land, whither thou goest to possesse it. ⁶⁴ And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one ende of the worlde vnto the other, and there thou shalt serue other gods, which thou hast not knowen nor thy fathers, euen wood and stone. ⁶⁵ Also among these nations thou shalt finde no rest, neither shall the sole of thy foote haue rest: for the Lord shall giue thee there a trembling heart, and looking to returne till thine eyes fall out, and a sorowfull minde. ⁶⁶ And thy life shall hang before thee, and thou shalt feare both night and day, and shalt haue none assurance of thy life. ⁶⁷ In the morning thou shalt say, Woulde God it were euening, and at the euening thou shalt say, Would God it were morning, for ye feare of thine heart, which thou shalt feare, and for the sight of thine eyes, which thou shalt see. ⁶⁸ And the Lord shall bring thee into Egypt againe with shippes by the way, whereof I saide vnto thee, Thou shalt see it no more againe: and there yee shall sell your selues vnto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and there shalbe no byer.

¹⁵ Therefore as all good things are come vpon you, which the Lord your God promised you, so shall the Lord bring vpon you euery euill thing, vntill he haue destroyed you out of this good land, which ye Lord your God hath giue you.

²⁴ Because I haue called, and ye refused: I haue stretched out mine hand, and none woulde regarde. ²⁵ But ye haue despised all my counsell, and would none of my correction. ²⁶ I will also laugh at your destruction, and mocke, when your feare commeth. ²⁷ Whe your feare cometh like sudden desolation, and your destruction shall come like a whirle wind: whe affliction and anguish shall come vpon you, ²⁸ Then shall they call vpon me, but I will not answere: they shall seeke me early, but they shall not finde me, ²⁹ Because they hated knowledge, and did not chuse the feare of the Lord. ³⁰ They would none of my counsell, but despised all my correction. ³¹ Therefore shall they eate of ye fruite of their owne way, and be filled with their owne deuises.

⁵ And nowe I will tell you what I will do to my vineyarde: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten vp: I will breake the wall thereof, and it shall be troden downe: ⁶ And I will laye it waste: it shall not be cut, nor digged, but briers, and thornes shall growe vp: I will also commande the cloudes that they raine no raine vpon it. ⁷ Surely the vineyard of the Lord of hostes is the house of Israel, and the men of Iudah are his pleasant plant, and hee looked for iudgement, but beholde oppression: for righteousnesse, but beholde a crying.

¹⁷ Is it not yet but a litle while, and Lebanon shall be turned into Carmel? and Carmel shall be counted as a forest?

¹⁵ Vntill the Spirit be powred vpon vs from aboue, and the wildernes become a fruitfull fielde, and the plenteous fielde be counted as a forest. ¹⁶ And iudgement shall dwel in the desert, and iustice shall remaine in the fruitfull fielde.

¹⁵ And ye shall leaue your name as a curse vnto my chosen: for the Lord God shall slay you and call his seruants by another name.

³ O my mountaine in the fielde, I will giue thy substance, and all thy treasures to be spoyled, for the sinne of thy high places throughout all thy borders.

²⁶ And after threescore and two weekes, shall Messiah be slaine, and shall haue nothing,, and the people of the prince that shall come, shall destroy the citie and the Sanctuarie, and the end thereof shalbe with a flood: and vnto the end of the battell it shalbe destroyed by desolations. ²⁷ And he shall confirme the couenant with many for one weeke: and in the middes of the weeke he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the ouerspreading of the abominations, he shall make it desolate, euen vntill the consummation determined shalbe powred vpon the desolate.

⁷ Arise, O sword, vpon my shepheard, and vpon the man, that is my fellow, sayth the Lord of hostes: smite the shepheard, and the sheepe shall be scattered: and I will turne mine hand vpon the litle ones. ⁸ And in all the land, sayeth the Lord, two partes therein shall be cut off, and die: but the third shall be left therein. ⁹ And I will bring that third part thorowe the fire, and will fine them as the siluer is fined, and will trye them as golde is tryed: they shall call on my Name, and I will heare them: I will say, It is my people, and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sunne vnto the going downe of the same, my Name is great among the Gentiles, and in euery place incense shalbe offred vnto my Name, and a pure offering: for my Name is great among the heathen, sayeth the Lord of hostes.

⁹ And thinke not to say with your selues, We haue Abraham to our father: for I say vnto you, that God is able euen of these stones to raise vp children vnto Abraham. ¹⁰ And now also is the axe put to the roote of the trees: therfore euery tree which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewen downe, and cast into ye fire. ¹¹ In deede I baptize you with water to amendment of life, but he that commeth after me, is mightier then I, whose shoes I am not worthie to beare: hee will baptize you with the holy Ghost, and with fire. ¹² Which hath his fanne in his hand, and wil make cleane his floore, and gather his wheate into his garner, but will burne vp the chaffe with vnquenchable fire.

¹¹ But I say vnto you, that many shall come from the East and West, and shall sit downe with Abraham, and Isaac, and Iacob, in the kingdome of heauen. ¹² And the children of the kingdome shall be cast out into vtter darkenes: there shalbe weeping and gnashing of teeth. ¹³ Then Iesus saide vnto the Centurion, Goe thy way, and as thou hast beleeued, so be it vnto thee, And his seruant was healed the same houre.

⁴⁵ Then he goeth, and taketh vnto him seuen other spirites worse then himselfe, and they enter in, and dwell there: and the ende of that man is worse then the beginning. Euen so shall it be with this wicked generation.

⁴⁰ When therefore the Lord of the vineyarde shall come, what will hee doe to those husbandmen? ⁴¹ They saide vnto him, Hee will cruelly destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard vnto other husbandmen, which shall deliuer him the fruites in their seasons.

⁴³ Therefore say I vnto you, The kingdome of God shalbe taken from you, and shalbe giuen to a nation, which shall bring foorth the fruites thereof.

⁷ But when the King heard it, he was wroth, and sent foorth his warriers, and destroyed those murtherers, and burnt vp their citie.

³⁴ Wherefore beholde, I send vnto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucifie: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from citie to citie, ³⁵ That vpon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed vpon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, vnto the blood of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whome ye slewe betweene the Temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verely I say vnto you, all these things shall come vpon this generation. ³⁷ Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her chickins vnder her wings, and ye would not! ³⁸ Beholde, your habitation shalbe left vnto you desolate,

²⁷ Moreouer, those mine enemies, which would not that I should reigne ouer them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

⁴¹ And when he was come neere, he behelde the Citie, and wept for it, ⁴² Saying, O if thou haddest euen knowen at the least in this thy day those things, which belong vnto thy peace! but nowe are they hid from thine eyes. ⁴³ For the dayes shall come vpon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compasse thee round, and keepe thee in on euery side, ⁴⁴ And shall make thee euen with ye ground, and thy children which are in thee, and they shall not leaue in thee a stone vpon a stone, because thou knewest not that season of thy visitation.

¹⁵ So they cast him out of the vineyarde, and killed him. What shall the Lord of the vineyarde therefore doe vnto them? ¹⁶ He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and wil giue out his vineyard to others. But when they heard it, they sayd, God forbid.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas spake boldly, and sayde, It was necessarie that the woorde of God shoulde first haue beene spoken vnto you: but seeing yee put it from you, and iudge your selues vnworthie of euerlasting life, loe, we turne to the Gentiles. ⁴⁷ For so hath the Lord commanded vs, saying, I haue made thee a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be the saluation vnto the end of the world. ⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard it, they were glad, and glorified the woorde of the Lord: and as many as were ordeined vnto eternall life, beleeued.

²³ And when they had appointed him a day, there came many vnto him into his lodging, to whom he expounded testifying the kingdome of God, and persuading them those things that concerne Iesus, both out of the Lawe of Moses, and out of the Prophets, from morning to night. ²⁴ And some were persuaded with ye things which were spoken, and some beleeued not. ²⁵ Therefore when they agreed not among themselues, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, to wit, Well spake the holy Ghost by Esaias the Prophet vnto our fathers, ²⁶ Saying, Goe vnto this people, and say, By hearing ye shall heare, and shall not vnderstand, and seeing ye shall see, and not perceiue. ²⁷ For the heart of this people is waxed fatte, and their eares are dull of hearing, and with their eyes haue they winked, least they shoulde see with their eyes, and heare with their eares, and vnderstand with their heartes, and should returne that I might heale them. ²⁸ Be it knowen therefore vnto you, that this saluation of God is sent to the Gentiles, and they shall heare it.

³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles which folowed not righteousnes, haue attained vnto righteousnes, euen the righteousnes which is of faith. ³¹ But Israel which followed the Lawe of righteousnes, could not arteine vnto the Law of righteousnes. ³² Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the workes of the Lawe: for they haue stumbled at the stumbling stone, ³³ As it is written, Beholde, I lay in Sion a stumbling stone, and a rocke to make men fall: and euery one that beleeueth in him, shall not be ashamed.

²⁰ And Esaias is bolde, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not, and haue bene made manifest to them that asked not after me.

²² The stone, which the builders refused, is the head of the corner. ²³ This was the Lordes doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes.

¹⁶ Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will laye in Zion a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation. Hee that beleeueth, shall not make haste.

³ But he said vnto them, Haue ye not read what Dauid did when he was an hungred, and they that were with him?

⁴ And he answered and sayd vnto them, Haue ye not read, that hee which made them at the beginning, made them male and female,

¹⁶ And said vnto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Iesus said vnto them, Yea: read ye neuer, By the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast made perfite the praise?

⁴² Iesus saide vnto them, Read ye neuer in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders refused, the same is made the head of the corner? This was the Lordes doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes.

³¹ And concerning the resurrection of the dead, haue ye not read what is spoken vuto you of God, saying,

²⁵ And he saide to them, Haue yee neuer read what Dauid did when he had neede, and was an hungred, both he, and they that were with him?

²⁶ And as touching the dead, that they shall rise againe, haue ye not read in the booke of Moses, howe in the bush God spake vnto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob?

¹⁴ Moreouer, when ye shall see the abomination of desolation (spoken of by Daniel the Prophet) set where it ought not, (let him that readeth, consider it) then let them that be in Iudea, flee into the mountaines,

³ Then Iesus answered them, and said, Haue ye not read this, that Dauid did when he himselfe was an hungred, and they which were with him,

¹⁷ And he beheld them, and said, What meaneth this then that is written, The stone that the builders refused, that is made the head of the corner? ¹⁸ Whosoeuer shall fall vpon that stone, shall be broken: and on whomsoeuer it shall fall, it will grinde him to pouder.

¹¹ This is the stone cast aside of you builders which is become the head of the corner. ¹² Neither is there saluation in any other: for among men there is giuen none other Name vnder heauen, whereby we must be saued.

³³ As it is written, Beholde, I lay in Sion a stumbling stone, and a rocke to make men fall: and euery one that beleeueth in him, shall not be ashamed.

²⁰ And are built vpon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Iesus Christ himselfe being the chiefe corner stone, ²¹ In whom all the building coupled together, groweth vnto an holy Temple in the Lord. ²² In whom ye also are built together to be the habitation of God by the Spirit.

⁷ Vnto you therefore which beleeue, it is precious: but vnto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, ⁸ And a stone to stumble at, and a rocke of offence, euen to them which stumble at the woorde, being disobedient, vnto the which thing they were euen ordeined.

²³ For there is no sorcerie in Iaakob, nor soothsaying in Israel: according to this time it shalbe sayde of Iaakob and of Israel, What hath God wrought?

²³ This was the Lordes doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes.

⁵ Beholde among the heathen, and regarde, and wonder, and maruaile: for I will worke a worke in your dayes: yee will not beleeue it, though it be tolde you.

¹² They were all then amased, and douted, saying one to another, What may this be?

³² This Iesus hath God raised vp, whereof we all are witnesses. ³³ Since then that he by the right hande of God hath bene exalted, and hath receiued of his Father the promise of the holy Ghost, hee hath shed foorth this which yee nowe see and heare. ³⁴ For Dauid is not ascended into heauen, but he sayth, The Lord sayd to my Lord, Sit at my right hande, ³⁵ Vntill I make thine enemies thy footestoole. ³⁶ Therefore, let all the house of Israel know for a suretie, that God hath made him both Lord, and Christ, this Iesus, I say, whome yee haue crucified.

¹² So when Peter saw it, he answered vnto the people, Ye me of Israel, why marueile ye at this? or why looke ye so stedfastly on vs, as though by our owne power or godlines, we had made this man go? ¹³ The God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Iacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified his Sonne Iesus, whom ye betrayed, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had iudged him to be deliuered. ¹⁴ But ye denied the Holy one and the Iust, and desired a murtherer to be giuen you, ¹⁵ And killed the Lord of life, whome God hath raised from the dead, whereof we are witnesses. ¹⁶ And his Name hath made this man sound, whom ye see, and know, through faith in his Name: and the faith which is by him, hath giuen to him this perfite health of his whole body in the presence of you all.

⁴⁰ Beware therefore lest that come vpon you, which is spoken of in the Prophets, ⁴¹ Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and vanish away: for I woorke a woorke in your daies, a woorke which yee shall not beleeue, if a man would declare it you.

⁸ Euen vnto me the least of all Saints is this grace giuen, that I should preach among the Gentiles the vnsearchable riches of Christ, ⁹ And to make cleare vnto all men what the fellowship of the mysterie is, which from the beginning of the world hath bene hid in God, who hath created all things by Iesus Christ, ¹⁰ To the intent, that nowe vnto principalities and powers in heauenly places, might be knowen by the Church the manifolde wisedome of God, ¹¹ According to the eternall purpose, which he wrought in Christ Iesus our Lord:

²⁷ To whome God woulde make knowen what is the riches of his glorious mysterie among the Gentiles, which riches is Christ in you, the hope of glory,

¹⁶ And without controuersie, great is the mysterie of godlinesse, which is, God is manifested in the flesh, iustified in the Spirit, seene of Angels, preached vnto the Gentiles, beleeued on in the world, and receiued vp in glorie.

⁷ Then Nathan sayd to Dauid, Thou art the man. Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, I anoynted thee King ouer Israel, and deliuered thee out of the hand of Saul, ⁸ And gaue thee thy lordes house, and thy lords wiues into thy bosome, and gaue thee the house of Israel, and of Iudah, and would moreouer (if that had bene too litle) haue giuen thee such and such things. ⁹ Wherefore hast thou despised the commandement of the Lord, to doe euill in his sight? thou hast killed Vriah the Hittite with ye sworde, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slaine him with the sworde of the children of Ammon. ¹⁰ Now therefore the sworde shall neuer depart from thine house, because thou hast despised me, and taken the wife of Vriah the Hittite to be thy wife. ¹¹ Thus sayth the Lord, Behold, I will rayse vp euil against thee out of thine owne house, and will take thy wiues before thine eyes, and giue them vnto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wiues in the sight of this sunne. ¹² For thou diddest it secretly: but I will doe this thing before all Israel, and before the sunne. ¹³ Then Dauid sayde vnto Nathan, I haue sinned against the Lord. And Nathan sayde vnto Dauid, The Lord also hath put away thy sinne, thou shalt not die. ¹⁴ Howbeit because by this deede thou hast caused the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the childe that is borne vnto thee shall surely die. ¹⁵ So Nathan departed vnto his house: and the Lord stroke the childe that Vriahs wife bare vnto Dauid, and it was sicke.

³⁸ So the Prophet departed, and wayted for the King by the way, and disguised himselfe with ashes vpon his face. ³⁹ And when the King came by, he cried vnto the King, and said, Thy seruant went into the middes of the battel: and beholde, there went away a man, whom another man brought vnto me, and sayd, Keepe this man: if he be lost, and want, thy life shall go for his life, or els thou shalt pay a talent of siluer. ⁴⁰ And as thy seruant had here and there to do, he was gone: And the King of Israel said vnto him, So shall thy iudgement be: thou hast giuen sentence. ⁴¹ And hee hasted, and tooke the ashes away from his face: and the King of Israel knewe him that he was of the Prophets:

¹⁷ And the word of the Lord came vnto Eliiah the Tishbite, saying, ¹⁸ Arise, goe downe to meete Ahab King of Israel, which is in Samaria. loe, he is in the vineyarde of Naboth, whither he is gone downe to take possession of it. ¹⁹ Therefore shalt thou say vnto him, Thus sayth the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also gotten possession? And thou shalt speake vnto him, saying, Thus sayth the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, shall dogs licke euen thy blood also. ²⁰ And Ahab sayd to Eliiah, Hast thou found mee, O mine enemie? And he answered, I haue found thee: for thou hast solde thy selfe to worke wickednes in the sight of the Lord. ²¹ Beholde, I will bring euill vpon thee, and wil take away thy posteritie, and wil cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, as well him that is shut vp, as him that is left in Israel, ²² And I wil make thine house like the house of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the sonne of Ahiiah, for the prouocation wherewith thou hast prouoked, and made Israel to sinne. ²³ And also of Iezebel spake the Lord, saying, The dogs shall eate Iezebel, by the wall of Izreel. ²⁴ The dogs shall eate him of Ahabs stocke, that dyeth in the citie: and him that dyeth in the fieldes, shall the foules of the ayre eate. ²⁵ (But there was none like Ahab, who did fell him selfe, to worke wickednesse in the sight of the Lord: whom Iezebel his wife prouoked. ²⁶ For he did exceeding abominably in following idoles, according to all that the Amorites did, whom the Lord cast out before the children of Israel.) ²⁷ Nowe when Ahab heard those wordes, he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth vpon him and fasted, and lay in sackecloth and went softely.

²⁶ And if we say, Of men, we feare the multitude, for all holde Iohn as a Prophet.

⁴⁵ And when the chiefe Priestes and Pharises had heard his parables, they perceiued that hee spake of them. ⁴⁶ And they seeking to laye handes on him, feared the people, because they tooke him as a Prophet.

²² And when they heard it, they marueiled, and left him, and went their way.

¹⁸ And the Scribes and hie Priestes heard it, and sought howe to destroy him: for they feared him, because the whole multitude was astonied at his doctrine.

³² But if we say, Of men, we feare the people: for all men counted Iohn, that he was a Prophet in deede.

⁶ But if we shall say, Of men, all the people will stone vs: for they be perswaded that Iohn was a Prophet.

¹⁹ Then the hie Priests, and the Scribes the same houre went about to lay hands on him: (but they feared the people) for they perceiued that he had spoken this parable against them.

²⁵ Then saide some of them of Hierusalem, Is not this he, whom they goe about to kill?

³⁰ Then they sought to take him, but no man layde handes on him, because his houre was not yet come.

⁴⁴ And some of them would haue taken him, but no man layde handes on him.

¹² They also, that seeke after my life, laye snares, and they that go about to do me euil, talke wicked things and imagine deceite continually.

⁵ Mine owne wordes grieue me dayly: all their thoughtes are against me to doe me hurt. ⁶ They gather together, and keepe them selues close: they marke my steps, because they waite for my soule.

⁵ The proude haue layde a snare for me, and spred a nette with cordes in my pathway, and set grennes for me. Selah.

²¹ Which made a man to sinne in ye worde, and tooke him in a snare: which reproued them in the gate, and made the iust to fall without cause.

¹⁸ Then sayde they, Come, and let vs imagine some deuice against Ieremiah: for the Lawe shall not perish from the Priest, nor counsell from the wise, nor the worde from the Prophet: come, and let vs smite him with the tongue, and let vs not giue heede to any of his words.

⁶ Then Iesus said vnto them, Take heede and beware of the leauen of the Pharises and Sadduces.

¹⁵ Then went the Pharises and tooke counsell how they might tangle him in talke. ¹⁶ And they sent vnto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we knowe that thou art true, and teachest the way of God truely, neither carest for any man: for thou considerest not the person of men. ¹⁷ Tell vs therefore, how thinkest thou? Is it lawfull to giue tribute vnto Cesar, or not? ¹⁸ But Iesus perceiued their wickednes, and sayd, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? ¹⁹ Shewe me the tribute money. And they brought him a peny. ²⁰ And he sayde vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? ²¹ They sayd vnto him, Cesars. Then sayd he vnto them, Giue therefore to Cesar, the things which are Cesars, and giue vnto God, those things which are Gods. ²² And when they heard it, they marueiled, and left him, and went their way.

⁶ And the Pharises departed, and straightway gathered a councill with the Herodians against him, that they might destroy him.

¹⁵ And he charged them, saying, Take heede, and beware of the leauen of the Pharises, and of the leauen of Herod.

⁵⁴ Laying wait for him, and seeking to catche some thing of his mouth, whereby they might accuse him.

²⁰ And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should faine themselues iust men, to take him in his talke, and to deliuer him vnto the power and authoritie of the gouernour. ²¹ And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest, and teachest right, neither doest thou accept mans person, but teachest the way of God truely. ²² Is it lawfull for vs to giue Cesar tribute or no? ²³ But he perceiued their craftines, and sayd vnto them, Why tempt ye me? ²⁴ Shew me a penie. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered, and sayd, Cesars. ²⁵ Then he sayd vnto them, Giue then vnto Cesar the things which are Cesars, and to God those which are Gods. ²⁶ And they could not reproue his saying before the people: but they marueiled at his answere, and helde their peace.

² Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do euil, neither agree in a controuersie to decline after many and ouerthrowe the trueth. ³ Thou shalt not esteeme a poore man in his cause. ⁴ If thou meete thine enemies oxe, or his asse going astray, thou shalt bring him to him againe. ⁵ If thou see thine enemies asse lying vnder his burden, wilt thou cease to helpe him? thou shalt helpe him vp againe with it. ⁶ Thou shalt not ouerthrowe the right of thy poore in his sute.

¹⁹ Wrest not thou ye Law, nor respect any person, neither take rewarde: for the reward blindeth ye eyes of the wise, and peruerteth ye worde of ye iust.

⁹ Who said vnto his father and to his mother, I haue not seene him, neither knewe he his brethren, nor knewe his owne children: for they obserued thy word, and kept thy couenant. ¹⁰ They shall teach Iaakob thy iudgements, and Israel thy Lawe: they shall put incense before thy face, and the burnt offring vpon thine altar.

¹³ And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.

⁷ Wherefore nowe let the feare of the Lord be vpon you: take heede, and do it: for there is no iniquitie with the Lord our God, neither respect of persons, nor receiuing of reward.

¹² Be it knowen vnto the King that ye Iewes, which came vp from thee to vs, are come vnto Ierusalem (a citie rebellious and wicked) and buylde, and lay the foundations of the walles, and haue ioyned the foundations. ¹³ Be it knowen nowe vnto the King, that if this citie be built, and the foundations of the walles layed, they will not giue tolle, tribute, nor custome: so shalt thou hinder the Kings tribute.

³⁷ And it yeeldeth much fruit vnto the kings whom thou hast set ouer vs, because of our sinnes: and they haue dominion ouer our bodyes and ouer our cattell at their pleasure, and we are in great affliction.

² They speake deceitfully euery one with his neighbour, flattering with their lips, and speake with a double heart. ³ The Lord cut off all flattering lippes, and the tongue that speaketh proude things: ⁴ Which haue saide, With our tongue will we preuaile: our lippes are our owne: who is Lord ouer vs?

²¹ The wordes of his mouth were softer then butter, yet warre was in his heart: his words were more gentle then oyle, yet they were swordes.

² Deliuer my soule, O Lord, from lying lippes, and from a deceitfull tongue.

²³ As siluer drosse ouerlayde vpon a potsheard, so are burning lips, and an euill heart. ²⁴ He that hateth, will counterfaite with his lips, but in his heart he layeth vp deceite. ²⁵ Though he speake fauourably, beleeue him not: for there are seuen abominations in his heart. ²⁶ Hatred may be couered by deceite: but the malice thereof shall be discouered in the congregation.

⁷ For the Lord God will helpe me, therefore shall I not bee confounded: therefore haue I set my face like a flint, and I knowe that I shall not be ashamed. ⁸ Hee is neere that iustifieth mee: who will contend with me? Let vs stande together: who is mine aduersarie? let him come neere to me. ⁹ Beholde, the Lord God will helpe me: who is he that can condemne me? loe, they shall waxe olde as a garment: the mothe shall eate them vp.

¹⁹ Therefore thus saith the Lord, If thou returne, then wil I bring thee againe, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take away the precious from the vile, thou shalt be according to my worde: let them returne vnto thee, but returne not thou vnto them. ²⁰ And I will make thee vnto this people a strong brasen wall, and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not preuaile against thee: for I am with thee to saue thee and to deliuer thee, saith ye Lord. ²¹ And I will deliuer thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeeme thee out of the hand of the tyrants.

² And saide vnto Ieremiah the Prophete, Heare our prayer, we beseeche thee, and pray for vs vnto the Lord thy God, euen for all this remnant (for we are left, but a fewe of many, as thine eyes doe beholde) ³ That the Lord thy God may shewe vs the way wherein wee may walke, and the thing that we may doe.

²⁰ Surely ye dissembled in your hearts When ye sent me vnto the Lord your God, saying, Pray for vs vnto the Lord our God, and declare vnto vs euen according vnto al that the Lord our God shall say, and we will doe it.

⁶ And thou sonne of man, feare them not, neither be afraide of their wordes, although rebels, and thornes be with thee, and thou remainest with scorpions: feare not their wordes, nor be afrayde at their lookes, for they are a rebellious house. ⁷ Therefore thou shalt speake my words vnto them: but surely they will not heare, neither will they in deede cease: for they are rebellious.

⁸ Yet notwithstanding I am full of power by the Spirite of the Lord, and of iudgement, and of strength to declare vnto Iaakob his transgression, and to Israel his sinne.

²⁵ He sayd, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Iesus preuented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? Of whome doe the Kings of the earth take tribute, or polle money? of their children, or of strangers? ²⁶ Peter sayd vnto him, Of strangers. Then said Iesus vnto him, Then are the children free. ²⁷ Neuerthelesse, lest we should offend them: goe to the sea, and cast in an angle, and take the first fish that commeth vp, and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt finde a piece of twentie pence: that take, and giue it vnto them for me and thee.

¹⁷ Tell vs therefore, how thinkest thou? Is it lawfull to giue tribute vnto Cesar, or not?

⁴⁵ And assoone as hee was come, hee went straightway to him, and saide, Haile Master, and kissed him.

²² Is it lawfull for vs to giue Cesar tribute or no?

² And they began to accuse him, saying, We haue found this man peruerting the nation, and forbidding to pay tribute to Cesar, saying, That he is Christ a King.

¹⁸ Hee that speaketh of himselfe, seeketh his owne glorie: but hee that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no vnrighteousnes is in him.

⁶ For, for this cause ye pay also tribute: for they are Gods ministers, applying themselues for the same thing.

² For if I make you sorie, who is he then that shoulde make me glad, but ye same which is made sorie by me?

¹⁷ For wee are not as many, which make marchandise of the woorde of God: but as of sinceritie, but as of God in ye sight of God speake we in Christ.

¹ Therefore, seeing that we haue this ministerie, as we haue receiued mercy, we faint not:

¹¹ Knowing therefore that terrour of the Lord, we persuade men, and we are made manifest vnto God, and I trust also that we are made manifest in your consciences.

¹⁶ Wherefore, henceforth know we no man after the flesh, yea though wee had knowen Christ after the flesh, yet nowe henceforth know we him no more.

¹⁰ For nowe preach I mans doctrine, or Gods? or go I about to please men? for if I should yet please men, I were not the seruant of Christ.

⁶ But by them which seemed to be great, I was not taught (whatsoeuer they were in time passed, I am nothing the better: God accepteth no mans person) for they that are the chiefe, did adde nothing to me aboue that I had.

¹¹ And when Peter was come to Antiochia, I withstood him to his face: for he was to be condemned. ¹² For before that certaine came from Iames, he ate with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himselfe, fearing them which were of the Circumcision. ¹³ And the other Iewes played the hypocrites likewise with him, in so much that Barnabas was led away with them by that their hypocrisie. ¹⁴ But when I saw, that they went not ye right way to the trueth of ye Gospel, I sayd vnto Peter before all men, If thou being a Iewe, liuest as the Gentiles, and not like the Iewes, why constrainest thou the Gentiles to doe like the Iewes?

⁴ But as we were allowed of God, that the Gospel should be committed vnto vs, so we speake, not as they that please men, but God, which approoueth our hearts.

² Sonne of man, put foorth a parable and speake a prouerbe vnto the house of Israel,

¹⁸ But Iesus perceiued their wickednes, and sayd, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

² Then the Pharises came and asked him, if it were lawfull for a man to put away his wife, and tempted him.

²³ But he perceiued their craftines, and sayd vnto them, Why tempt ye me?

²⁴ But Iesus did not commit him selfe vnto them, because he knewe them all, ²⁵ And had no neede that any should testifie of man: for he knewe what was in man.

¹⁷ He said vnto him the third time, Simon the sonne of Iona, louest thou me? Peter was sorie because he said to him the third time, Louest thou me? and said vnto him, Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I loue thee. Iesus saide vnto him, Feede my sheepe.

⁹ Then Peter sayde vnto her, Why haue ye agreed together, to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? beholde, the feete of them which haue buried thine husband, are at the doore, and shall carie thee out.

⁹ Neither let vs tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted him, and were destroyed of serpents.

¹³ Neither is there any creature, which is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and open vnto his eyes, with whome we haue to doe.

²³ And I will kill her children with death: and all the Churches shall know that I am he which searche the reines and heartes: and I will giue vnto euery one of you according vnto your workes.

¹⁹ But the foundation of God remaineth sure, and hath this seale, The Lord knoweth who are his: and, Let euery one that calleth on the Name of Christ, depart from iniquitie.

¹² Him that ouercommeth, will I make a pillar in the Temple of my God, and he shall goe no more out: and I will write vpon him the Name of my God, and the name of the citie of my God, which is the newe Hierusalem, which commeth downe out of heauen from my God, and I will write vpon him my newe Name.

¹² He scattereth the deuices of the craftie: so that their handes can not accomplish that which they doe enterprise. ¹³ He taketh the wise in their craftinesse, and the counsel of the wicked is made foolish.

²⁶ My sonne, giue mee thine heart, and let thine eyes delite in my wayes.

²¹ My sonne feare the Lord, and the King, and meddle not with them that are sedicious.

⁴ It is better that thou shouldest not vowe, then that thou shouldest vow and not pay it. ⁵ Suffer not thy mouth to make thy flesh to sinne: neither say before the Angel, that this is ignorance: wherefore shall God bee angry by thy voyce, and destroy the worke of thine hands?

⁶ A sonne honoureth his father, and a seruant his master. If then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my feare, sayth the Lord of hostes vnto you, O Priestes, that despise my Name? and yee say, Wherein haue we despised thy Name?

³³ And when the multitude heard it, they were astonied at his doctrine.

⁴⁶ And none could answere him a worde, neither durst any from that day foorth aske him any moe questions.

³⁰ Thou shalt therefore loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy minde, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandement.

¹⁹ But Peter and Iohn answered vnto them, and said, Whether it be right in the sight of God, to obey you rather then God, iudge ye. ²⁰ For we cannot but speake the things which we haue seene and heard.

¹³ Neither giue ye your members, as weapons of vnrighteousnes vnto sinne: but giue your selues vnto God, as they that are aliue from the dead, and giue your members as weapons of righteousnesse vnto God.

¹ I Beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that yee giue vp your bodies a liuing sacrifice, holy, acceptable vnto God, which is your reasonable seruing of God.

⁷ Giue to all men therefore their duetie: tribute, to whome yee owe tribute: custome, to whom custome: feare, to whome feare: honour, to whom ye owe honour.

¹⁹ Knowe yee not, that your body is the temple of the holy Ghost, which is in you, whom ye haue of God? and yee are not your owne. ²⁰ For yee are bought for a price: therefore glorifie God in your bodie, and in your spirit: for they are Gods.

²⁴ But if all prophecie, and there come in one that beleeueth not, or one vnlearned, hee is rebuked of all men, and is iudged of all, ²⁵ And so are the secrets of his heart made manifest, and so he will fall downe on his face and worship God, and say plainely that God is in you in deede.

¹⁴ For that loue of Christ constraineth vs, ¹⁵ Because we thus iudge, that if one be dead for all, then were all dead, and he died for all, that they which liue, shoulde not henceforth liue vnto themselues, but vnto him which died for them, and rose againe.

¹⁷ Honour all men: loue brotherly fellowship: feare God: honour the King.

²³ The same day the Sadduces came to him (which say that there is no resurrection) and asked him, ²⁴ Saying, Master, Moses sayd, If a man die, hauing no children, his brother shall marie his wife by the right of alliance, and raise vp seede vnto his brother. ²⁵ Nowe there were with vs seuen brethren, and the first maried a wife, and deceased: and hauing none yssue, left his wife vnto his brother. ²⁶ Likewise also the second, and the third, vnto the seuenth. ²⁷ And last of all the woman died also. ²⁸ Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be of the seuen? for all had her. ²⁹ Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, Ye are deceiued, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. ³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marie wiues, nor wiues are bestowed in mariage, but are as the Angels of God in heauen. ³¹ And concerning the resurrection of the dead, haue ye not read what is spoken vuto you of God, saying, ³² I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the liuing. ³³ And when the multitude heard it, they were astonied at his doctrine.

²⁷ Then came to him certaine of the Sadduces (which denie that there is any resurrection) and they asked him, ²⁸ Saying, Master, Moses wrote vnto vs, If any mans brother die hauing a wife, and hee die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise vp seede vnto his brother. ²⁹ Now there were seuen brethren, and the first tooke a wife, and he dyed without children. ³⁰ And the second tooke the wife, and he dyed childelesse. ³¹ Then the third tooke her: and so likewise the seuen dyed, and left no children. ³² And last of all the woman dyed also. ³³ Therefore at the resurrection, whose wife of them shall she be? for seuen had her to wife. ³⁴ Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, The children of this world marry wiues, and are married. ³⁵ But they which shalbe counted worthy to enioy that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry wiues, neither are married. ³⁶ For they can die no more, forasmuch as they are equall vnto the Angels, and are the sonnes of God, since they are the children of the resurrection. ³⁷ And that the dead shall rise againe, euen Moses shewed it besides the bush, when he said, The Lord is the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob. ³⁸ For he is not the God of the dead, but of them which liue: for all liue vnto him. ³⁹ Then certaine of the Scribes answered, and sayd, Master, thou hast well sayd. ⁴⁰ And after that, durst they not aske him any thing at all.

¹ And as they spake vnto the people, the Priestes and the Captaine of the Temple, and the Sadduces came vpon them, ² Taking it grieuously that they taught the people, and preached in Iesus Name the resurrection from the dead.

⁶ But when Paul perceiued that the one part were of the Sadduces, and the other of the Pharises, hee cried in the Council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharise, the sonne of a Pharise: I am accused of the hope and resurrection of the dead. ⁷ And when hee had saide this, there was a dissension betweene the Pharises and the Sadduces, so that the multitude was deuided. ⁸ For the Sadduces say that there is no resurrection, neither Angel, nor spirit: but the Pharises confesse both. ⁹ Then there was a great crye: and the Scribes of the Pharises part rose vp, and stroue, saying, Wee finde none euill in this man: but if a spirit or an Angel hath spoken to him, let vs not fight against God.

¹³ For if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: ¹⁴ And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vaine, and your faith is also vaine. ¹⁵ And we are found also false witnesses of God: for we haue testified of God, that he hath raised vp Christ: whome he hath not raised vp, if so be the dead be not raised. ¹⁶ For if the dead be not raised, then is Christ not raised. ¹⁷ And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vaine: ye are yet in your sinnes. ¹⁸ And so they which are a sleepe in Christ, are perished.

¹⁸ Which as concerning ye trueth haue erred from the marke, saying that the resurrection is past alreadie, and do destroy the faith of certaine.

⁸ Then Iudah said to Onan, Goe in vnto thy brothers wife, and do the office of a kinsman vnto her, and raise vp seede vnto thy brother.

⁵ If brethren dwell together, and one of them dye and haue no sonne, the wife of the dead shall not marry without: that is, vnto a stranger, but his kinseman shall goe in vnto her, and take her to wife, and doe the kinsemans office to her. ⁶ And the first borne which she beareth, shall succeede in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel. ⁷ And if the man will not take his kinsewoman, then let his kinsewoman goe vp to the gate vnto the Elders, and say, My kinsman refuseth to rayse vp vnto his brother a name in Israel: hee will not doe the office of a kinsman vnto me. ⁸ Then the Elders of his citie shall call him, and commune with him: if he stand and say, I wil not take her, ⁹ Then shall his kinswoman come vnto him in the presence of the Elders, and loose his shooe from his foote, and spit in his face, and answere, and say, So shall it be done vnto that man, that will not buylde vp his brothers house. ¹⁰ And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him whose shooe is put off.

¹¹ But Naomi saide, Turne againe, my daughters: for what cause will you go with me? are there any more sonnes in my wombe, that they may bee your husbands? ¹² Turne againe, my daughters: go your way: for I am too olde to haue an husband. If I should say, I haue hope, and if I had an husband this night: yea, if I had borne sonnes, ¹³ Would yee tarie for them, till they were of age? would ye be deferred for them from taking of husbands? nay my daughters: for it grieueth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.

⁵ Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou mnst also buy it of Ruth the Moabitesse the wife of the dead, to stirre vp the name of the dead, vpon his inheritance.

¹⁴ (Shall any thing be hard to the Lord? at the time appointed will I returne vnto thee, euen according to the time of life, and Sarah shall haue a sonne.)

²⁵ For I am sure, that my Redeemer liueth, and he shall stand the last on the earth. ²⁶ And though after my skin wormes destroy this bodie, yet shall I see God in my flesh. ²⁷ Whome I my selfe shall see, and mine eyes shall beholde, and none other for me, though my reynes are consumed within me.

²⁰ To the Law, and to the testimonie, if they speake not according to this worde: it is because there is no light in them.

⁸ He wil destroy death for euer: and the Lord God wil wipe away the teares from all faces, and the rebuke of his people will he take away out of all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

¹⁹ Thy dead men shall liue: euen with my body shall they rise. Awake, and sing, ye that dwel in dust: for thy dewe is as the dew of herbes, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

⁷ Euen the storke in the aire knoweth her appointed times, and the turtle and the crane and the swallowe obserue the time of their comming, but my people knoweth not the iudgement of the Lord. ⁸ Howe doe yee say, Wee are wise, and the Lawe of the Lord is with vs? Loe, certeinly in vaine made hee it, the penne of the scribes is in vaine. ⁹ The wise men are ashamed: they are afraid and taken. loe, they haue reiected the word of the Lord, and what wisdome is in them?

¹⁷ Ah Lord God, beholde, thou hast made the heauen and the earth by thy great power, and by thy stretched out arme, and there is nothing hard vnto thee.

¹ The hand of the Lord was vpon me, and caryed me out in ye spirit of ye Lord, and set me downe in ye mids of the field, which was full of bones. ² And he led me round about by them, and beholde, they were very many in the open fielde, and lo, they were very drie. ³ And he sayde vnto me, Sonne of man, can these bones liue? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest. ⁴ Againe he sayde vnto me, Prophecie vpon these bones and say vnto them, O ye dry bones, heare the word of the Lord. ⁵ Thus saith the Lord God vnto these bones, Behold, I wil cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall liue. ⁶ And I will lay sinewes vpon you, and make flesh growe vpon you, and couer you with skinne, and put breath in you, that ye may liue, and yee shall know that I am the Lord. ⁷ So I prophecied, as I was commanded: and as I prophecied, there was a noyse, and beholde, there was a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. ⁸ And when I beheld, loe, the sinewes, and the flesh grewe vpon them, and aboue, the skinne couered them, but there was no breath in them. ⁹ Then sayd he vnto me, Prophecie vnto the winde: prophecie, sonne of man, and say to the winde, Thus sayth the Lord God, Come from the foure windes, O breath, and breathe vpon these slayne, that they may liue. ¹⁰ So I prophecied as hee had commanded me: and the breath came into them, and they liued, and stood vp vpon their feete, an exceeding great armie. ¹¹ Then he sayd vnto me, Sonne of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is gone, and we are cleane cut off. ¹² Therefore prophecie, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Beholde, my people, I will open your graues, and cause you to come vp out of your sepulchres, and bring you into the lande of Israel, ¹³ And yee shall knowe that I am the Lord, when I haue opened your graues, O my people, and brought you vp out of your sepulchres, ¹⁴ And shall put my Spirit in you, and ye shall liue, and I shall place you in your owne land: then yee shall knowe that I the Lord haue spoken it, and performed it, sayth the Lord.

² And many of them that sleepe in the dust of the earth, shall awake, some to euerlasting life, and some to shame and perpetuall contempt.

² After two dayes will he reuiue vs, and in the third day he will raise vs vp, and we shall liue in his sight.

⁶ For I desired mercie, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more then burnt offrings.

¹² I haue written to them the great things of my Lawe: but they were counted as a strange thing.

¹⁴ I wil redeeme them from the power of the graue: I will deliuer them from death: O death, I wil be thy death: O graue, I will be thy destruction: repentance is hid from mine eyes.

²⁹ Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, Ye are deceiued, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

²⁷ But Iesus looked vpon them, and sayd, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

³⁷ For with God shall nothing be vnpossible.

³⁹ Searche the Scriptures: for in them ye thinke to haue eternall life, and they are they which testifie of me.

⁹ For as yet they knewe not the Scripture, That he must rise againe from the dead.

¹¹ These were also more noble men then they which were at Thessalonica, which receiued the woorde with all readinesse, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

⁴ For whatsoeuer things are written aforetime, are writte for our learning, that we through patience, and comfort of the Scriptures might haue hope.

¹⁹ And what is the exceeding greatnesse of his power toward vs, which beleeue, according to the working of his mightie power,

²¹ Who shall change our vile bodie, that it may be fashioned like vnto his glorious body, according to the working, whereby hee is able euen to subdue all things vnto him selfe.

¹⁵ And that thou hast knowen the holy Scriptures of a childe, which are able to make thee wise vnto saluation, through the faith which is in Christ Iesus. ¹⁶ For the whole Scripture is giuen by inspiration of God, and is profitable to teache, to conuince, to correct, and to instruct in righteousnesse, ¹⁷ That the man of God may be absolute, being made perfect vnto all good workes.

³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marie wiues, nor wiues are bestowed in mariage, but are as the Angels of God in heauen.

³⁵ But they which shalbe counted worthy to enioy that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry wiues, neither are married. ³⁶ For they can die no more, forasmuch as they are equall vnto the Angels, and are the sonnes of God, since they are the children of the resurrection.

⁴² So also is the resurrection of the dead. The bodie is sowen in corruption, and is raysed in incorruption. ⁴³ It is sowen in dishonour, and is raysed in glory: it is sowen in weakenesse, and is raysed in power. ⁴⁴ It is sowen a naturall body, and is raysed a spirituall body: there is a naturall body, and there is a spirituall body. ⁴⁵ As it is also written, The first man Adam was made a liuing soule: and the last Adam was made a quickening Spirit. ⁴⁶ Howbeit that was not first which is spirituall: but that which is naturall, and afterward that which is spirituall. ⁴⁷ The first man is of the earth, earthly: the second man is the Lord from heauen. ⁴⁸ As is the earthly, such are they that are earthly: and as is the heauenly, such are they also that are heauenly. ⁴⁹ And as we haue borne the image of the earthly, so shall we beare the image of the heauenly. ⁵⁰ This say I, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherite the kingdome of God, neither doeth corruption inherite incorruption. ⁵¹ Behold, I shewe you a secret thing, We shall not all sleepe, but we shall all be changed, ⁵² In a moment, in the twinckling of an eye at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall blow, and the dead shalbe raysed vp incorruptible, and we shalbe changed. ⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption: and this mortall must put on immortalitie. ⁵⁴ So when this corruptible hath put on incorruption, and this mortall hath put on immortalitie, then shalbe brought to passe the saying that is written, Death is swallowed vp into victorie.

²² But ye are come vnto the mount Sion, and to the citie of the liuing God, the celestiall Hierusalem, and to ye company of innumerable Angels, ²³ And to the assemblie and congregation of the first borne, which are written in heauen, and to God the iudge of all, and to the spirits of iust and perfite men,

² Dearely beloued, nowe are we the sonnes of God, but yet it is not made manifest what we shall be: and we know that when he shalbe made manifest, we shalbe like him: for we shall see him as he is.

⁷ Moreouer I wil establish my couenant betweene me and thee, and thy seede after thee in their generations, for an euerlasting couenant, to be God vnto thee and to thy seede after thee. ⁸ And I will giue thee and thy seede after thee the land, wherein thou art a stranger, euen all the land of Canaan, for an euerlasting possession, and I will be their God.

²⁴ And the Lord appeared vnto him the same night, and sayde, I am the God of Abraham thy father: feare not, for I am with thee, and wil blesse thee, and will multiplie thy seede for my seruant Abrahams sake.

¹³ And behold, the Lord stoode aboue it, and sayd, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Izhak: the land, vpon the which thou sleepest, wil I giue thee and thy seede.

⁴² Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the feare of Izhak had bene with me, surely thou haddest sent me away nowe emptie: but God behelde my tribulation, and the labour of mine hads, and rebuked thee yester night.

⁹ Moreouer Iaakob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Izhak: Lord, which saydest vnto me, Returne vnto thy coutrey and to thy kinred, and I will do thee good,

²⁰ And he set vp there an altar, and called it, The mightie God of Israel.

² Then the Angel of the Lord appeared vnto him in a flame of fire, out of the middes of a bush: and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. ³ Therefore Moses saide, I will turne aside nowe, and see this great sight, why the bush burneth not. ⁴ And when the Lord sawe that he turned aside to see, God called vnto him out of the middes of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he answered, I am here. ⁵ Then he saide, Come not hither, put thy shooes off thy feete: for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. ⁶ Moreouer he saide, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Izhak, and the God of Iaakob. Then Moses hid his face: for he was afraid to looke vpon God.

¹⁶ Go and gather the Elders of Israel together, and thou shalt say vnto the, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob appeared vnto me, and said, I haue surely remembred you, and that which is done to you in Egypt.

⁸ But thou, Israel, art my seruant, and thou Iaakob, whom I haue chosen, the seede of Abraham my friend. ⁹ For I haue taken thee from the endes of the earth, and called thee before the chiefe thereof, and saide vnto thee, Thou art my seruant: I haue chosen thee, and not cast thee away. ¹⁰ Feare thou not, for I am with thee: be not afraide, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, and helpe thee, and will susteine thee with the right hand of my iustice.

³¹ And concerning the resurrection of the dead, haue ye not read what is spoken vuto you of God, saying, ³² I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the liuing.

¹⁰ Haue ye not read so much as this Scripture? The stone which the builders did refuse, is made the head of the corner.

³⁷ And that the dead shall rise againe, euen Moses shewed it besides the bush, when he said, The Lord is the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob.

³⁰ And when fourtie yeres were expired, there appeared to him in the wildernes of mout Sina, an Angel of the Lord in a flame of fire, in a bush. ³¹ And when Moses sawe it, hee wondred at the sight: and as he drew neere to consider it, the voyce of the Lord came vnto him, saying, ³² I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold it.

²⁷ My sonne, heare no more the instruction, that causeth to erre from ye words of knowledge.

²⁴ Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto them, Are ye not therefore deceiued, because ye knowe not the Scriptures, neither the power of God?

¹⁷ (As it is written, I haue made thee a father of many nations) euen before God whom he beleeued, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those thinges which be not, as though they were.

⁹ For Christ therefore died and rose againe, and reuiued, that he might be Lord both of the dead and the quicke.

¹⁰ Wherefore I was grieued with that generation, and sayde, They erre euer in their heart, neither haue they knowen my wayes.

¹³ All these died in faith, and receiued not the promises, but sawe them a farre off, and beleeued them, and receiued them thankefully, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. ¹⁴ For they that say such things, declare plainely, that they seeke a countrey. ¹⁵ And if they had bene mindfull of that countrey, from whence they came out, they had leasure to haue returned. ¹⁶ But nowe they desire a better, that is an heauenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a citie.

¹⁹ Whosoeuer therefore shall breake one of these least commandements, and teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdome of heauen: but whosoeuer shall obserue and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdome of heauen.

¹⁸ He sayd to him, Which? And Iesus sayde, These, Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not commit adulterie: Thou shalt not steale: Thou shalt not beare false witnesse.

³⁴ But when the Pharises had heard, that he had put the Sadduces to silence, they assembled together. ³⁵ And one of them, which was an expounder of the Lawe, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, ³⁶ Master, which is ye great commandement in the Lawe? ³⁷ Iesus sayd to him, Thou shalt loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soule, and with all thy minde. ³⁸ This is the first and the great commandement. ³⁹ And the second is like vnto this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe. ⁴⁰ On these two commandements hangeth the whole Lawe, and the Prophets.

²³ Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye tithe mynt, and annyse, and cummyn, and leaue the weightier matters of the law, as iudgement, and mercy and fidelitie. These ought ye to haue done, and not to haue left the other.

²⁵ Then beholde, a certaine Lawyer stoode vp, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I doe, to inherite eternall life? ²⁶ And he saide vnto him, What is written in the Lawe? howe readest thou? ²⁷ And he answered, and saide, Thou shalt loue thy Lord God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy strength, and with all thy thought, and thy neighbour as thy selfe. ²⁸ Then he said vnto him, Thou hast answered right: this doe, and thou shalt liue.

⁴² But wo be to you, Pharises: for ye tithe the mynt and the rewe, and all maner herbs, and passe ouer iudgement and the loue of God: these ought yee to haue done, and not to haue left the other vndone.

³⁹ Then certaine of the Scribes answered, and sayd, Master, thou hast well sayd.

⁴ Heare, O Israel, The Lord our God is Lord onely,

¹² And nowe, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to feare the Lord thy God, to walke in all his wayes, and to loue him, and to serue the Lord thy God, with all thine heart, and with all thy soule?

⁶ And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seede, that thou mayest loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with al thy soule, that thou maiest liue.

³⁷ He that loueth father or mother more then me, is not worthie of me. And he that loueth sonne, or daughter more then mee, is not worthie of me.

⁹ And call no man your father vpon the earth: for there is but one, your father which is in heauen.

³² Then that Scribe said vnto him, Well, Master, thou hast saide the trueth, that there is one God, and that there is none but he, ³³ And to loue him with all the heart, and with all the vnderstanding, and with all the soule, and with all the strength, and to loue his neighbour as himselfe, is more then all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

²⁷ And he answered, and saide, Thou shalt loue thy Lord God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy strength, and with all thy thought, and thy neighbour as thy selfe.

³⁰ For it is one God, who shall iustifie circumcision of faith, and vncircumcision through faith.

⁴ Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed vnto idoles, we knowe that an idole is nothing in the worlde, and that there is none other God but one.

²⁰ Nowe a Mediatour is not a Mediatour of one: but God is one.

⁵ For the end of the commandement is loue out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith vnfained.

⁵ For there is one God, and one Mediatour betweene God and man, which is the man Christ Iesus,

¹⁹ Thou beleeuest that there is one God: thou doest well: the deuils also beleeue it, and tremble.

²⁵ That is, to God only wise, our Sauiour, be glorie, and maiestie, and dominion, and power, both nowe and for euer, Amen.

⁵ And thou shalt loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy might.

¹³ Thou shalt not do thy neighbour wrong, neither rob him. The workemans hire shall not abide with thee vntil the morning.

¹⁸ Thou shalt not auenge, nor be mindful of wrong against ye childre of thy people, but shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe: I am the Lord.

¹² Therefore whatsoeuer ye woulde that men should doe to you, euen so doe ye to them: for this is the Lawe and the Prophets.

¹⁸ He sayd to him, Which? And Iesus sayde, These, Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not commit adulterie: Thou shalt not steale: Thou shalt not beare false witnesse. ¹⁹ Honour thy father and mother: and thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe.

³⁹ And the second is like vnto this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe.

³⁶ Which nowe of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour vnto him that fell among the theeues? ³⁷ And he saide, He that shewed mercie on him. Then said Iesus vnto him, Goe, and do thou likewise.

⁸ Owe nothing to any man, but to loue one another: for he that loueth another, hath fulfilled the Lawe. ⁹ For this, Thou shalt not commit adulterie, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steale, Thou shalt not beare false witnes, Thou shalt not couet: and if there be any other commandement, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, euen in this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe.

⁴ Loue suffreth long: it is bountifull: loue enuieth not: loue doeth not boast it selfe: it is not puffed vp: ⁵ It doeth no vncomely thing: it seeketh not her owne things: it is not prouoked to anger: it thinketh not euill: ⁶ It reioyceth not in iniquitie, but reioyceth in the trueth: ⁷ It suffreth all things: it beleeueth all things: it hopeth all things: it endureth all things. ⁸ Loue doeth neuer fall away, though that prophecyings be abolished, or the tongues cease, or knowledge vanish away.

¹⁴ For all the Lawe is fulfilled in one worde, which is this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe.

⁸ But if yee fulfill the royall Lawe according to the Scripture, which saith, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe, yee doe well. ⁹ But if yee regarde the persons, yee commit sinne, and are rebuked of the Lawe, as transgressours. ¹⁰ For whosoeuer shall keepe the whole Lawe, and yet faileth in one poynt, hee is guiltie of all. ¹¹ For he that saide, Thou shalt not commit adulterie, saide also, Thou shalt not kill. Nowe though thou doest none adulterie, yet if thou killest, thou art a transgressour of the Lawe. ¹² So speake ye, and so doe, as they that shall be iudged by the Lawe of libertie. ¹³ For there shalbe condemnation merciles to him that sheweth not mercie, and mercie reioyceth against condemnation.

¹⁷ And whosoeuer hath this worlds good, and seeth his brother haue neede, and shutteth vp his compassion from him, howe dwelleth the loue of God in him? ¹⁸ My litle children, let vs not loue in worde, neither in tongue onely, but in deede and in trueth. ¹⁹ For thereby we know that we are of the trueth, and shall before him assure our hearts.

⁷ Beloued, let vs loue one another: for loue commeth of God, and euery one that loueth, is borne of God, and knoweth God. ⁸ Hee that loueth not, knoweth not God: for God is loue.

²¹ And this commandement haue we of him, that he that loueth God, should loue his brother also.

³⁵ Vnto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest knowe, that the Lord hee is God, and that there is none but he alone.

³⁹ Vnderstande therefore this day, and consider in thine heart, that the Lord, he is God in heauen aboue, and vpon the earth beneath: there is none other.

⁷ Thou shalt haue none other gods before my face.

⁸ Feare ye not, neither be afraide: haue not I tolde thee of olde, and haue declared it? you are euen my witnesses, whether there be a God beside me, and that there is no God that I knowe not.

⁵ I am the Lord and there is none other: there is no God besides me: I girded thee though thou hast not knowen me, ⁶ That they may knowe from the rising of the sunne and from the West, that there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is none other.

¹⁴ Thus sayth the Lord, The labour of Egypt, and the marchandise of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature shall come vnto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall follow thee, and shall goe in chaines: they shall fall downe before thee, and make supplication vnto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee, and there is none other God besides.

¹⁸ For thus saith the Lord (that created heauen, God himselfe, that formed the earth, and made it: he that prepared it, he created it not in vaine: he formed it to be inhabited) I am the Lord, and there is none other.

²¹ Tell ye and bring them, and let them take counsell together, who hath declared this from the beginning? or hath tolde it of olde? Haue not I the Lord? and there is none other God beside me, a iust God, and a Sauiour: there is none beside me. ²² Looke vnto me, and ye shall be saued: all the endes of the earth shall be saued: for I am God, and there is none other.

⁹ Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none other God, and there is nothing like me,

¹⁰ But the Lord is the God of trueth: he is the liuing God, and an euerlasting King: at his anger the earth shall tremble, and the nations cannot abide his wrath. ¹¹ (Thus shall you say vnto them, The gods that haue not made the heauens and the earth, shall perish from the earth, and from vnder these heauens) ¹² He hath made the earth by his power, and established the worlde by his wisedome, and hath stretched out the heauen by his discretion.

²⁹ Iesus answered him, The first of all the commandements is, Heare, Israel, The Lord our God is the onely Lord.

²² And Samuel saide, Hath the Lord as great pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as when the voyce of the Lord is obeyed? beholde, to obey is better then sacrifice, and to hearken is better then the fatte of rammes.

⁸ I wil not reproue thee for thy sacrifices, or thy burnt offerings, that haue not bene continually before me. ⁹ I will take no bullocke out of thine house, nor goates out of thy foldes. ¹⁰ For all the beastes of the forest are mine, and the beastes on a thousand mountaines. ¹¹ I knowe all the foules on the mountaines: and the wilde beastes of the fielde are mine. ¹² If I bee hungry, I will not tell thee: for the world is mine, and all that therein is. ¹³ Will I eate the flesh of bulles? or drinke the blood of goates? ¹⁴ Offer vnto God praise, and pay thy vowes vnto the most High, ¹⁵ And call vpon me in the day of trouble: so will I deliuer thee, and thou shalt glorifie me.

²³ He that offereth praise, shall glorifie mee: and to him, that disposeth his way aright, will I shew the saluation of God.

³ To doe iustice and iudgement is more acceptable to the Lord then sacrifice.

¹¹ What haue I to doe with the multitude of your sacrifices, sayth the Lord? I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and of the fat of fed beasts: and I desire not the blood of bullocks, nor of lambs, nor of goates. ¹² When ye come to appeare before me, who required this of your hands to tread in my courts? ¹³ Bring no more oblations, in vaine: incense is an abomination vnto me: I can not suffer your newe moones, nor Sabbaths, nor solemne dayes (it is iniquitie) nor solemne assemblies. ¹⁴ My soule hateth your newe moones and your appointed feastes: they are a burden vnto me: I am weary to beare them. ¹⁵ And when you shall stretch out your hands, I wil hide mine eyes from you: and though ye make many prayers, I wil not heare: for your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash you, make you cleane: take away the euill of your workes from before mine eyes: cease to doe euill. ¹⁷ Learne to doe well: seeke iudgement, relieue the oppressed: iudge the fatherlesse and defend the widowe.

⁵ Is it such a fast that I haue chosen, that a man should afflict his soule for a day, and to bowe downe his head, as a bull rush, and to lie downe in sackecloth and ashes? wilt thou call this a fasting, or an acceptable day to the Lord? ⁶ Is not this the fasting, that I haue chosen, to loose the bandes of wickednes, to take off the heauie burdens, and to let the oppressed goe free, and that ye breake euery yoke? ⁷ Is it not to deale thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poore that wander, vnto thine house? when thou seest the naked, that thou couer him, and hide not thy selfe from thine owne flesh?

²¹ Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Put your burnt offerings vnto your sacrifices, and eat the flesh. ²² For I spake not vnto your fathers, nor commanded them, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offrings and sacrifices. ²³ But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voyce, and I will be your God, and yee shalbe my people: and walke yee in all the wayes which I haue commanded you, that it may be well vnto you.

²¹ I hate and abhorre your feast dayes, and I wil not smelll in your solemne assemblies. ²² Though ye offer me burnt offrings and meat offrings, I wil not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offrings of your fat beasts. ²³ Take thou away from me the multitude of thy songs (for I wil not heare the melodie of thy violes) ²⁴ And let iudgement runne downe as waters, and righteousnesse as a mightie riuer.

⁶ Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bowe my selfe before the hie God? Shall I come before him with burnt offrings, and with calues of a yeere olde? ⁷ Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousand riuers of oyle? shall I giue my first borne for my transgression, euen the fruite of my bodie, for the sinne of my soule? ⁸ He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: surely to doe iustly, and to loue mercie, and to humble thy selfe, to walke with thy God.

¹³ But goe yee and learne what this is, I will haue mercie, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.

⁷ Wherefore if ye knewe what this is, I will haue mercie, and not sacrifice, ye would not haue condemned the innocents.

¹ Though I speake with the tongues of men and Angels, and haue not loue, I am as sounding brasse, or a tinkling cymbal. ² And though I had the gift of prophecie, and knewe all secrets and all knowledge, yea, if I had all faith, so that I could remooue mountaines and had not loue, I were nothing. ³ And though I feede the poore with all my goods, and though I giue my body, that I be burned, and haue not loue, it profiteth me nothing.

⁸ Aboue, when he sayd, Sacrifice and offring, and burnt offrings, and sinne offrings thou wouldest not haue, neither hadst pleasure therein (which are offered by the Lawe)

¹⁵ Then they fearing, answered no more, but left off their talke. ¹⁶ When I had wayted (for they spake not, but stood still and answered no more)

²⁰ A bruised reede shall he not breake, and smoking flaxe shall he not quenche, till he bring forth iudgement vnto victorie.

⁴⁰ And after that, durst they not aske him any thing at all.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatsoeuer ye Lawe saieth, it saieth it to them which are vnder ye Law, that euery mouth may bee stopped, and all the world be subiect to the iudgement of God. ²⁰ Therefore by the woorkes of the Lawe shall no flesh be iustified in his sight: for by the Lawe commeth the knowledge of sinne.

⁹ For I once was aliue, without the Law: but when the commandement came, sinne reuiued,

¹⁹ For I through the Lawe am dead to the Lawe, that I might liue vnto God.

⁶ Let your speach be gracious alwayes, and powdred with salt, that ye may know how to answere euery man.

⁹ Holding fast that faithfull worde according to doctrine, that he also may bee able to exhort with wholesome doctrine, and conuince them that say against it. ¹⁰ For there are many disobedient and vaine talkers and deceiuers of mindes, chiefly they of the Circumcision, ¹¹ Whose mouthes must bee stopped, which subuert whole houses, teaching things, which they ought not, for filthie lucres sake.

²⁷ And as Iesus departed thence, two blinde men followed him, crying, and saying, O sonne of Dauid, haue mercie vpon vs.

⁴¹ While the Pharises were gathered together, Iesus asked them, ⁴² Saying, What thinke ye of Christ? whose sonne is he? They sayd vnto him, Dauids. ⁴³ He sayd vnto them, How then doeth Dauid in spirit call him Lord, saying, ⁴⁴ The Lord sayd to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footestoole? ⁴⁵ If then Dauid call him Lord, howe is he his sonne?

⁵⁵ The same houre sayde Iesus to the multitude, Ye be come out as it were against a thiefe, with swordes and staues to take mee: I sate daily teaching in the Temple among you, and yee tooke me not.

²⁷ Then they came againe to Hierusalem: and as he walked in the Temple, there came to him ye hie Priestes, and the Scribes, and the Elders,

⁴⁷ And he taught dayly in the Temple. And the hie Priests and the Scribes, and the chiefe of the people sought to destroy him.

¹ And it came to passe, that on one of those dayes, as he taught the people in the Temple, and preached the Gospel, the hie Priests and the Scribes came vpon him with the Elders,

⁴¹ Then sayd he vnto them, Howe say they that Christ is Dauids sonne? ⁴² And Dauid himselfe sayth in the booke of the Psalmes, The Lord sayd vnto my Lord, Sit at my right hand, ⁴³ Till I shall make thine enemies thy footestoole. ⁴⁴ Seeing Dauid called him Lord, howe is he then his sonne?

³⁷ Nowe in the day time hee taught in the Temple, and at night hee went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Oliues.

⁴² Saith not the Scripture that that Christ shall come of the seede of Dauid, and out of the towne of Beth-leem, where Dauid was?

²⁰ Iesus answered him, I spake openly to the world: I euer taught in the Synagogue and in the Temple, whither the Iewes resort continually, and in secret haue I sayde nothing.

² The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his worde was in my tongue.

¹ A Psalme of David. The Lord said vnto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, vntill I make thine enemies thy footestoole.

¹⁶ Yee men and brethren, this scripture must needes haue beene fulfilled, which the holy Ghost by the mouth of Dauid spake before of Iudas, which was guide to them that tooke Iesus.

²⁵ Therefore when they agreed not among themselues, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, to wit, Well spake the holy Ghost by Esaias the Prophet vnto our fathers,

²⁵ For he must reigne till hee hath put all his enemies vnder his feete.

¹⁶ For the whole Scripture is giuen by inspiration of God, and is profitable to teache, to conuince, to correct, and to instruct in righteousnesse,

¹³ Vnto which also of the Angels saide he at any time, Sit at my right hand, til I make thine enemies thy footestoole?

⁷ Wherefore, as the holy Ghost sayth, To day if ye shall heare his voyce, ⁸ Harden not your hearts, as in the prouocation, according to the day of the tentation in the wildernes,

⁷ Againe he appointed in Dauid a certaine day, by To day, after so long a time, saying, as it is sayd, This day, if ye heare his voyce, harden not your hearts.

¹² But this man after he had offered one sacrifice for sinnes, sitteth for euer at the right hand of God, ¹³ And from hencefoorth tarieth, till his enemies be made his footestoole.

¹¹ Searching when or what time the Spirite which testified before of Christ which was in them, shoulde declare the sufferings that should come vnto Christ, and the glorie that shoulde follow.

²¹ For the prophecie came not in olde time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moued by the holy Ghost.

⁵ The blinde receiue sight, and the halt doe walke: the lepers are clensed, and the deafe heare, the dead are raised vp, and the poore receiue the Gospel.

²⁵ At that time Iesus answered, and saide, I giue thee thankes, O Father, Lord of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and men of vnderstanding, and hast opened them vnto babes.

⁴⁶ And they seeking to laye handes on him, feared the people, because they tooke him as a Prophet.

⁴⁸ But they could not finde what they might doe to him: for all the people hanged vpon him when they heard him.

³⁸ And all the people came in the morning to him, to heare him in the Temple.

⁴⁶ The officers answered, Neuer man spake like this man. ⁴⁷ Then answered them the Pharises, Are yee also deceiued? ⁴⁸ Doeth any of the rulers, or of the Pharises beleeue in him? ⁴⁹ But this people, which know not the Law, are cursed.

⁹ Then much people of the Iewes knewe that hee was there: and they came, not for Iesus sake onely, but that they might see Lazarus also, whome he had raysed from the dead.

³ Concerning his Sonne Iesus Christ our Lord (which was made of the seede of Dauid according to the flesh, ⁴ And declared mightily to be the Sonne of God, touching the Spirit of sanctification by the resurrection from the dead)

⁵ Of whome are the fathers, and of whome concerning the flesh, Christ came, who is God ouer all, blessed for euer, Amen.

⁵ Hearken my beloued brethren, hath not God chosen the poore of this worlde, that they should be rich in faith, and heires of the kingdome which he promised to them that loue him?

¹⁶ I Iesus haue sent mine Angell, to testifie vnto you these things in the Churches: I am the root and the generation of Dauid, and the bright morning starre.

⁵ And when thou prayest, be not as the hypocrites: for they loue to stand, and pray in the Synagogues, and in the corners of the streetes, because they would be seene of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde.

¹⁷ But beware of men, for they will deliuer you vp to the Councils, and will scourge you in their Synagogues.

¹ Then spake Iesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, ² Saying, The Scribes and the Pharises sit in Moses seate. ³ All therefore whatsoeuer they bid you obserue, that obserue and doe: but after their workes doe not: for they say, and doe not. ⁴ For they binde heauie burdens, and grieuous to be borne, and lay them on mens shoulders, but they themselues will not moue them with one of their fingers. ⁵ All their workes they doe for to be seene of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the frindges of their garments, ⁶ And loue the chiefe place at feastes, and to haue the chiefe seates in the assemblies, ⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

⁴³ Wo be to you, Pharises: for ye loue the vppermost seats in the Synagogues, and greetings in the markets.

⁷ He spake also a parable to the ghestes, when he marked howe they chose out the chiefe roomes, and said vnto them, ⁸ When thou shalt be bidden of any man to a wedding, set not thy selfe downe in the chiefest place, lest a more honourable man then thou, be bidden of him, ⁹ And he that bade both him and thee, come, and say to thee, Giue this man roome, and thou then begin with shame to take the lowest roome. ¹⁰ But when thou art bidden, goe and sit downe in the lowest roome, that when he that bade thee, cometh, he may say vnto thee, Friende, sit vp hier: then shalt thou haue worship in the presence of them that sit at table with thee. ¹¹ For whosoeuer exalteth himselfe, shall be brought lowe, and he that humbleth himselfe, shall be exalted.

⁴⁵ Then in the audience of all the people he sayd vnto his disciples, ⁴⁶ Beware of the Scribes, which willingly go in long robes, and loue salutations in the markets, and the highest seates in the assemblies, and the chiefe roomes at feastes: ⁴⁷ Which deuoure widowes houses, and in shewe make long prayers: These shall receiue greater damnation.

⁹ I wrote vnto the Church: but Diotrephes which loueth to haue the preeminence among them, receiueth vs not.

² For if there come into your company a man with a golde ring, and in goodly apparell, and there come in also a poore man in vile raiment, ³ And ye haue a respect to him that weareth the gaie clothing; and say vnto him, Sit thou here in a goodly place, and say vnto the poore, Stand thou there, or sit here vnder my footestoole,

²⁵ There is a conspiracie of her prophets in the mids thereof like a roaring lyon, rauening the praye: they haue deuoured soules: they haue taken the riches and precious things: they haue made her many widowes in the mids thereof.

² And they couet fields, and take them by violence, and houses, and take them away: so they oppresse a man and his house, euen man and his heritage.

¹ And I sayd, Heare, I pray you, O heads of Iaakob, and yee princes of the house of Israel: should not ye knowe iudgement? ² But they hate the good, and loue the euill: they plucke off their skinnes from them, and their flesh from their bones. ³ And they eate also the flesh of my people, and flay off their skinne from them, and they breake their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron. ⁴ Then shall they crye vnto the Lord, but he will not heare them: he wil euen hide his face from them at that time, because they haue done wickedly in their workes.

⁷ Also when ye pray, vse no vaine repetitions as the Heathen: for they thinke to be heard for their much babbling.

²² But I say to you, It shalbe easier for Tyrus and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you. ²³ And thou, Capernaum, which art lifted vp vnto heauen, shalt be brought downe to hell: for if the great workes, which haue bin done in thee, had bene done among them of Sodom, they had remained to this day. ²⁴ But I say vnto you, that it shall be easier for them of the land of Sodom in the day of iudgement, then for thee.

¹³ Wo therefore be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites, because ye shut vp the kingdome of heauen before men: for ye your selues go not in, neither suffer ye them that would enter, to come in.

³³ O serpents, the generation of vipers, howe should ye escape the damnation of hell!

⁴⁷ And that seruant that knewe his masters will, and prepared not himselfe, neither did according to his will, shalbe beaten with many stripes. ⁴⁸ But he that knewe it not, and yet did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with fewe stripes: for vnto whomsoeuer much is giuen, of him shalbe much required, and to whom men much commit, the more of him will they aske.

⁴⁷ Which deuoure widowes houses, and in shewe make long prayers: These shall receiue greater damnation.

⁶ For of this sort are they which creepe into houses, and leade captiue simple women laden with sinnes, and led with diuers lustes,

⁹ Then Iehoiada the Priest tooke a chest and bored an hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side, as euery man commeth into the Temple of the Lord. And the Priestes that kept the doore, put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the Lord.

⁶ And the chiefe Priestes tooke the siluer pieces, and sayde, It is not lawfull for vs to put them into the treasure, because it is the price of bloud.

¹ And as he behelde, he sawe the rich men, which cast their giftes into the treasurie. ² And he sawe also a certaine poore widowe which cast in thither two mites: ³ And he sayd, Of a trueth I say vnto you, that this poore widowe hath cast in more then they all. ⁴ For they all haue of their superfluitie cast into the offerings of God: but she of her penurie hath cast in all the liuing that she had.

²⁰ These wordes spake Iesus in the treasurie, as hee taught in the Temple, and no man layde handes on him: for his houre was not yet come.

²¹ And euery one, whose heart encouraged him, and euery one, whose spirit made him willing, came and brought an offring to the Lord, for the worke of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and for all his vses, and for the holy garments. ²² Both men and women, as many as were free hearted, came and brought taches and earings, and rings, and bracelets, all were iewels of golde: and euery one that offered an offring of gold vnto the Lord: ²³ Euery man also, which had blewe silke, and purple, and skarlet, and fine linen, and goates heare, and rammes skinnes died red, and badgers skins, brought them. ²⁴ All that offered an oblation of siluer and of brasse, brought the offring vnto the Lord: and euery one, that had Shittim wood for any maner worke of the ministration, brought it. ²⁵ And all the women that were wise hearted, did spin with their hands, and brought ye spun worke, euen the blewe silke, and the purple, the skarlet, and the fine linen. ²⁶ Likewise al the women, whose hearts were moued with knowledge, spun goates heare. ²⁷ And ye rulers brought onix stones, and stones to be set in the Ephod, and in the brest plate: ²⁸ Also spice, and oyle for light, and for the anoynting oyle, and for the sweete perfume. ²⁹ Euery man and woman of the children of Israel, whose hearts moued the willingly to bring for all the worke which the Lord had commanded the to make by the hand of Moses, brought a free offring to the Lord.

⁴² And whosoeuer shall giue vnto one of these litle ones to drinke a cuppe of colde water onely, in the name of a disciple, verely I say vnto you, he shall not lose his rewarde.

²⁹ Then the disciples, euery man according to his ability, purposed to sende succour vnto the brethren which dwelt in Iudea.

² Because in great triall of affliction their ioy abounded, and their most extreme pouertie abounded vnto their rich liberalitie.

¹² For if there be first a willing minde, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

⁶ This yet remember, that he which soweth sparingly, shall reape also sparingly, and hee that soweth liberally, shall reape also liberally. ⁷ As euery man wisheth in his heart, so let him giue, not grudgingly, or of necessitie: for God loueth a cheerefull giuer. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace to abound towarde you, that yee alwayes hauing all sufficiencie in all thinges, may abounde in euery good worke,

⁶ No man shall take the nether nor the vpper milstone to pledge: for this gage is his liuing.

² Now I haue prepared with all my power for the house of my God, golde for vessels of golde, and siluer for them of siluer, and brasse for things of brasse, yron for things of yron, and wood for things of wood, and onix stones, and stones to be set, and carbuncle stones and of diuers colours, and all precious stones, and marble stones in aboundance. ³ Moreouer, because I haue delite in the house of my God, I haue of mine owne golde and siluer, which I haue giuen to the house of my God, beside all that I haue prepared for the house of the Sanctuarie, ⁴ Euen three thousand talents of gold of the golde of Ophir, and seuen thousand talents of fined siluer to ouerlay the walles of the houses. ⁵ The golde for the things of golde, and the siluer for things of siluer, and for all the worke by the handes of artificers: and who is willing to fill his hand to day vnto the Lord? ⁶ So the princes of the families, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captaines of thousands and of hundreths, with the rulers of the Kings worke, offred willingly, ⁷ And they gaue for the seruice of the house of God fiue thousande talents of golde, and ten thousand pieces, and ten thousand talents of siluer, and eighteene thousand talents of brasse, and one hundreth thousand talents of yron. ⁸ And they with whom precious stones were found, gaue them to the treasure of ye house of the Lord, by the hand of Iehiel the Gershunnite. ⁹ And the people reioyced when they offred willingly: for they offred willingly vnto ye Lord, with a perfite heart. And Dauid the King also reioyced with great ioy. ¹⁰ Therefore Dauid blessed the Lord before all the Congregation, and Dauid sayde, Blessed be thou, O Lord God, of Israel our father, for euer and euer. ¹¹ Thine, O Lord, is greatnesse and power, and glory, and victorie and praise: for all that is in heauen and in earth is thine: thine is the kingdome, O Lord, and thou excellest as head ouer all. ¹² Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest ouer all, and in thine hand is power and strength, and in thine hande it is to make great, and to giue strength vnto all. ¹³ Now therefore our God, we thanke thee, and prayse thy glorious Name. ¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we shoulde be able to offer willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee: and of thine owne hand we haue giuen thee. ¹⁵ For we are stragers before thee, and soiourners, like all our fathers: our dayes are like ye shadowe vpon the earth, and there is none abiding. ¹⁶ O Lord our God, all this abundance that we haue prepared to buylde thee an house for thine holy Name, is of thine hand and all is thine. ¹⁷ I knowe also, my God, that thou tryest the heart, and hast pleasure in righteousnesse: I haue offred willingly in the vprightnesse of mine heart all these things: now also haue I seene thy people which are found here, to offer vnto thee willingly with ioy.

¹⁰ And all the princes and all the people reioyced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, vntill they had finished. ¹¹ And when it was time, they brought the chest vnto the Kings officer by the hand of the Leuites: and when they saw that there was much siluer, then the Kings Scribe (and one appoynted by the hie Priest) came and emptied the chest, and tooke it, and caried it to his place againe: thus they did day by day, and gathered siluer in abundance. ¹² And the King and Iehoiada gaue it to such as did the labour and worke in the house of the Lord, and hyred masons and carpenters to repayre the house of the Lord: they gaue it also to workers of yron and brasse, to repayre the house of the Lord. ¹³ So the workemen wrought, and the worke amended through their hands: and they restored the house of God to his state, and strengthened it. ¹⁴ And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the siluer before the King and Iehoiada, and he made thereof vessels for the house of the Lord, euen vessels to minister, both morters and incense cuppes, and vessels of golde, and of siluer: and they offred burnt offrings in the house of the Lord continually all the dayes of Iehoiada.

⁵ And when the commandement was spread, the children of Israel brought abundance of first fruites, of corne, wine, and oyle, and honie, and of all the increase of the fielde, and the tithes of all things brought they abundantly. ⁶ And the children of Israel and Iudah that dwelt in ye cities of Iudah, they also brought the tithes of bullockes and sheepe, and the holy tithes which were consecrate vnto the Lord their God, and laide them on many heapes. ⁷ In the thirde moneth they beganne to lay the foundation of the heapes, and finished them in the seuenth moneth. ⁸ And when Hezekiah and the princes came, and saw the heapes, they blessed the Lord and his people Israel. ⁹ And Hezekiah questioned with the Priests and the Leuites concerning the heapes. ¹⁰ And Azariah the chiefe Priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and sayde, Since the people beganne to bring the offrings into the house of the Lord, we haue eaten and haue bene satisfied, and there is left in abundance: for the Lord hath blessed his people, and this abundance that is left.

⁷ Iosiah also gaue to the people sheepe, lambs and kiddes, all for the Passeouer, euen to all that were present, to the nomber of thirtie thousand, and three thousande bullocks: these were of the Kings substance. ⁸ And his princes offred willingly vnto the people, to the Priests and to the Leuites: Hilkiah, and Zechariah, and Iehiel, rulers of the house of God, gaue vnto the Priests for the Passeouer, euen two thousand and sixe hundreth sheepe, and three hundreth bullockes.

⁶⁸ And certeine of the chiefe fathers, when they came to the house of the Lord, which was in Ierusalem, they offred willingly for the house of God, to set it vp vpon his fundation. ⁶⁹ They gaue after their abilitie vnto the treasure of the worke, euen one and threescore thousand drammes of golde, and fiue thousand pieces of siluer, and an hundreth Priests garments.

⁷⁰ And certaine of the chiefe fathers gaue vnto the worke. The Tirshatha gaue to the treasure, a thousand drammes of golde, fiftie basins, fiue hundreth and thirtie Priests garments. ⁷¹ And some of the chiefe fathers gaue vnto the treasure of the worke, twentie thousand drams of golde, and two thousande and two hundreth pieces of siluer. ⁷² And the rest of the people gaue twentie thousand drammes of golde, and two thousande pieces of siluer, and three score and seuen Priestes garments.

⁸ She hath done that she coulde: she came afore hand to anoynt my body to the burying.

⁴³ And a woman hauing an yssue of blood, twelue yeeres long, which had spent all her substance vpon physicians, and could not be healed of any:

¹² And the yonger of them sayde to his father, Father, giue mee the portion of the goods that falleth to mee. So he deuided vnto them his substance.

³⁰ But when this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy good with harlots, thou hast for his sake killed the fat calfe.

² Because in great triall of affliction their ioy abounded, and their most extreme pouertie abounded vnto their rich liberalitie. ³ For to their power (I beare record) yea, and beyonde their power, they were willing,

¹⁰ Nowe I reioyce also in the Lord greatly, that nowe at the last your care for mee springeth afresh, wherein notwithstanding ye were careful, but yee lacked opportunitie. ¹¹ I speake not because of want: for I haue learned in whatsoeuer state I am, therewith to bee content. ¹² And I can be abased, and I can abounde: euery where in all things I am instructed, both to be full, and to be hungrie, and to abounde, and to haue want. ¹³ I am able to do al things through the helpe of Christ, which strengtheneth me. ¹⁴ Notwithstanding yee haue well done, that yee did communicate to mine affliction. ¹⁵ And yee Philippians knowe also that in the beginning of the Gospell, when I departed from Macedonia, no Church communicated with me, concerning the matter of giuing and receiuing, but yee onely. ¹⁶ For euen when I was in Thessalonica, yee sent once, and afterward againe for my necessitie, ¹⁷ Not that I desire a gift: but I desire the fruit which may further your reckoning.

¹⁷ And whosoeuer hath this worlds good, and seeth his brother haue neede, and shutteth vp his compassion from him, howe dwelleth the loue of God in him?
