¹⁴ The wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the Lamb's twelve apostles.

² These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew, and James the son of Zebedee and his brother John, ³ Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax-collector, James the son of Alpheus and Thaddeus, ⁴ Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot who afterward betrayed him.

¹⁸ But I tell you, your name is Peter, a rock, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not subdue it.

¹⁹ The foundation stones of the wall of the city were ornamented with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation stone was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, ²⁰ the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. ²¹ The twelve gates were twelve pearls; each gate made of a single pearl. The principal street of the city was pure gold, as transparent as glass.
