³ and the Moabites were sore afrayed of the people, because they were many, and stode in feare of the chyldren of Israel.

²⁴ And they aunswered Iosua and sayde: it was tolde thy seruauntes, how that the Lord thy God had commaunded his seruaunt Moses to geue you all the lande, and to destroye all the enhabytoures therof oute of youre syght, & therfore we were exceadyng sore afrayed for oure lyues at the presence of you, & haue done this thinge,

⁵ They were afraied, where no feare was: for God hath broken the bones of hym that beseged the: thou hast put them to confusion, because God hath despysed them.
